Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door

I just got finished watching Chuggaaconroy's LP of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. In his last video, he said GameStop was selling them used for about $15. I watched the entire LP and I was thinking about buying it. Have you played it? If so, is it worth buying? The game looked pretty good to me, and since I watched the entire series I know what to do.

I am a big fan of the Paper Mario series and I'm telling you that game does not dissapoint. They revamped battling, it's not as complicated as it was in the first one in my opinion. That and the cast is just as adorable (if not more) than the last! Personally I like TTYD more than I do Super Paper Mario (Wii), but that's only because they took out my battle scenes ;-; besides that it's a close second. They went in good detail with all the worlds and characters, even the enemies too. At the end I was almost sad to see Lord Crump get whupped :[. But I will be honest about one thing; the end boss is a B*TCH and I'm not saying that lightly. I've played it over twice too since I bought it, it's fun to go back to.

I loved this game. I first played it years ago on my week off from school because of Spring Break and I pretty much spent my break just playing the game for almost day to night. I couldn't stop playing because I was so attached to the story to the find out what happened next.

My favorite things about the game where the Super Bowser Bros. minigame and the Glitzville Chapter. Super Bowser Bros. was just plain awesome because playing as Bowser temporarily was pretty fun and it had platforming elements which was nice for a change of pace. As for the Glitzville chapter, competing in an arena to climb the ranks as well as becoming famous and solving a mystery was far better than exploring any old dungeon. :P

For $15, I say go buy it. Unfortunately, since you probably know the story in and out from watching videos, playing through the game won't have the same charm now since you know what is going to happen. However, there is still extra things you can do after you finish the game such as conquering the Pit of 100 Trials or completing all the side-quests in the Trouble Center.

Well, for me, the spoilers have no effect. I tend to explore them thoroughly and forget all about it when I actually get it. I hope you're just about the same, it's a lot better than getting a game ruined due to research! ;) But, that's beside the point.

Paper Mario is flippin' awesome! It doesn't have much replay value, unless you beat it and leave alone long enough to become unfamiliar with it. It's still sweet anyway. For 15$, it's definitely worth it. As a small note, the color of the file you pick will change the color of your Yoshi when you get it.

Not going to lie, Thousand Year Door is one of the best games to ever grace a Nintendo console, imho

The writing is just hilarious. Not many games have generally funny writing, but read through the Don Pinata saga. I mean, in general, Don Pinata and his whole saga was great.

The party members say more things in the cut scenes now, so they aren't lifeless avatars like they were in the original. Bosses are pretty much the bulk of the awesome of TYD. From Hooktail to Bowser, each boss is pretty unique and have something hilarious to say.

Speaking about Bowser, you can't get enough of this guy. I mean, that's all I have to say. Bowser. Bowser is a huge selling point for this game.

The Badge system is still in tact, and there's pretty much nearly 200-300 badges you can collect and equip. Deep customization there. What badges you wear, what stats you upgrade, it's all fit into a easy to use Battle System. It's the beauty of TYD.

It's my favorite RPG, and favorite Nintendo game. The game is a steal at 15 bucks. Invest in it.

Actually, no, it has nothing to do with your file. It depends on the amount of time it takes between getting your egg and the egg hatching. Here is a table detailing what times give you which color of Yoshi.

Anyways, this game is amazing, as is the entire Paper Mario series. It's very fun, and there's plenty to do even outside of the main storyline. I heartily suggest it to anyone who's a fan of Mario and RPGs.

I bought the game and it's great! Unfortunatley I'm stuck on the Shadow Queen and the only items I have are 3 Jammin' Jellys, 2 Shooting Stars, 1 Life Shroom and an Ultra Shroom. I backtracked ALL THE WAY back through the Palace of Shadow to but more Ultra Shrooms and Life Shrooms, but it turns out that you can't buy Ultra Shrooms at any shop in the game. =(

Actually, you can buy Ultra Shrooms. They are available at the Deepdown Depot, which is located in the central area of Rogueport Sewers, and cost about 200 coins each.

Thanks for the tip! I didn't check there, I didn't even know there was a store in the Rougeport sewers!
