These remakes will definitely be interesting like you said(in good and yes, there will be some bad features too I bet) But with what's been released so far everything is good in my opinion!
|
Wow, I didn't notice some of those changes.
That place west of Cianwood is interesting, I wonder what it'll be. |
Whats west of Lake of Rage? North of Ecruteak City? It looks like a forest... on fire! A forest fire? A burning forest? Sweeet!
|
I still think the building in Goldenrod is... the Radio Tower, moved a bit away from the main city.

However, the map definitely looks different when you put in individual perspective on some of the old and new locations. Let’s start with the West moving East. First off, Cianwood, to me, looks larger and more modernized to match today's gaming of the main Pokémon RPG. Not to mention, the island does look a bit more separated like how the Fight Area, Battle Area, etc. was in DPPt. So, it surely adds in question on what could possibly be new at that one Island from before. Moving more North to the large clouds, I do notice it being strange for them to cover up this location, especially knowing it was the original place for the Battle Tower in Crystal. Seeing as every game since then has had some kind of included Battle Tower, I wouldn't rule this one out either. So, possibly, there just may be something new there. Whether it be the Battle Frontier or simply a new Tower, it'll all be great to share no less. I do realize that Lake of Rage [location of Red Gyarados] is larger. So, whatever they may be planning there could be pretty overwhelming for some. Either they made it larger for something new, or they simply expanded it to give more of an extension to Johto. The idea of Kyogre possibly being located here makes me think though, I mean it fits seeing as though they made the lake larger. Number four, the new area west of the National Park; to me, I think Contests, because the way the main building looks, appears to be something closely related to a Contest Hall. However, we shall see. Though, knowing there are ribbons seen from checking the stats of your team, contests should be placed somewhere in the game I would say. As for the new building in Goldenrod, it sure is tall and noticeable. My guess goes to those saying it may be the new GTS. The long thin rod extending from the main center of the roof gives me this though as a signal transmitter used for world-wide connection. We'll have to wait and find out though as a anew building in Pokémon could range from one possible thought to the next. Now, the Magnet Train tracks. It leads east as shown, which is to be known as Kanto. Not to mention, it is the only feature in the game that was relatively used to travel from Goldenrod City to the Kanto region. So, this alone brings in a higher chance for the return of Kanto. Keeping on track with the topic of Kanto and Route 22, it has already been confirmed that Kanto shall make another return. So, speculation on this has been proven and I'm pretty satisfied with that thought. It only gives the game players something more to do. I only hope they re-awaken the second region to something more adventurous than before, but not overshadowing Johto. |
Could the large building in Goldenrod be.....:
- The GTS - An oversized contest hall - A combined GtS and Contest Hall - A Team Rocket headquarters?? |
Has anyone else noticed the two small lakes in the left corner inside the ilex forest?
|
Yeah! I wondered what those were there for....

What do you think is behind Cianwood City?
As the new Johto map shows, there is a whole new area behind Cianwood City. What do you think this area can be? I think and hope its the battle frontier in Johto because i really liked the one in Emerald :P, so what do you think it can be?
|
I doubt there would be two radio towers in one city, especially next to each other. Johto will have one and Lavender Town will have one. If thats not the Goldenrod radio tower, it won't be another one. But the question is what could it be? As said above it could be a GTS or even a contest hall. The new features on this map intriques be very much so.

I agree it does seem to be the most likely place to put a battle frontier if they do include one
EDIT: On a second look I reckon its Pal Park as it has 6 different zones that seem to cover each type, and yeah there is already a thread for this sort of thing |
I think the new area west of Cianwood City is either some sort of Safari area (as Jake explained in previous posts), but I'm convinced it could be a new Pal Park-like location. It has 6 blocks that contain individual environments (kinda like how the Pal Park in D/P was).
|
I have to say in my opinion that it can't be a Battle Frontier because there aren't many large buildings and it just looks like a town with a mansion at one end.
And there is already discussion of this on another thread |
I dont think its a town because on this island, the town is Cianwood, so it isn't most probably a new town, unless its a continuation of Cianwood, so it may be a PalPark like rich boy bob said, if youre talking about the official johto map thread, i posted mine thinkin that the thread wasnt discussing this, anyway, the discussion on the other thread is general since its about all the changes in johto, but i guess this discussion will also be nice by iself, thanks for pointing it out :)

Can anyone spot out the place of the ice cave? The place where I thought it was is just a small bit of cave :(
|
Ooh, I'm getting more excited every day!
The new area west of Cianwood looks amazing. Perhaps it's a Safari Park-esque area with some rare/new gen pokemon? I'm 95% sure that the new building near Goldenrod is the GTS, although it could also be a contest hall. I don't know what the lakes in Ilex Forest are for, but I'm sure they've extended the Lake of Rage so they can put Kyogre there. |

People keep saying Kyogre could be in the lake of rage...Why would he be there? It's a freshwater lake, whilst Kyogre is a sal****er orca...The last place I'd expect to find a giant legendary whale is in a lake...

I agree with samme426 it doesnt seem to look like much of a battle frontier cuz the builings r to small.... maybe it is a town but the manshion thing samme said may be the jhoto pal park because there are a bunch of different looking areas put together lyk in sinnoh pal park (beause say if you but a water pokemon in the pal park you could only find it in the watery parts of the park and if you had a grass type in a grassy area) plus what you said about cinnwood being the only thing on the island, its a very big island and there preety far apart.

To me it is a suitable location. If you also look back at the Hoenn games, when encountering Kyogre's OW sprite it was found in a mid-sized water area as well, so the lake wouldn't be a bad place at all. It is also known for the location of Gyarados, so it is a place where players won't forget, especially if it is the key holder of Kyogre. Though, we'll have to wait and see how things turn out with these new locations and Pokémon appearances. |
