When Did YOU Get Your National Dex ?

As you were completing the main story in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, when did you feel that the time was right to upgrade? Did you hold off to strengthen your team? Did you go for it right away? Did you not bother to get it at all?

Personally, I have completed the Sinnoh Dex, seeing all 210 Pokemon in Platinum. However I am holding off of it, training my team with the Elite 4, until they are at least Level 70 and above. Then I will proceed to the Fight, Survival, Resort Areas, and Stark Mountain. Some of the main reasons why I will get the National Dex soon, would be the chance of getting a Lucky Egg from the Chansey's at Trophy Garden, making training faster for my Pokemon. Do you think getting the National Dex is worth it?

Looking forward to seeing some opinions and/or discussion. :)

Uhhh, I don't wait at all. I just get it. It is important for the continuation of the game because there is so much past that point you can do. Many things open up to you, and it is helpful.

I mean it's not any different from having the Sinnoh Dex, except you can see more pokés. There's no reason to not get it.

Oh, Post-Script (haha I'm a nerd): You can find Chanseys on Route 210.

I usually go on with the National Dex, as I can get more Pokémons and then re-build my team, because I never stay with my Elite4 team. And I don't see any point on training to a high level and then go to Stark Mountain, as levels there are 50/60s.

Well, when I first completed my Sinnoh Dex on my first playthrough on Diamond, I certainly went to Professor Rowan's lab in order to get an upgrade. Since I took about a 3 year break from Pokemon, I was excited to see some familiar faces in the post-National Dex portion of the game.

I got my National Dex like very soon after the game came out. I just get bored and start over often.

World King June 20th, 2009 11:29 PM

I got the National Dex without really trying to, except for about 3 or 4 Pokémon I had to trade for, and got it as soon I beat the E4 the first time. =D

Dreadnought June 20th, 2009 11:47 PM

Got after finally taking what seemed like 100+ tries of beating the Elite 4 >_>

Mitchman June 20th, 2009 11:47 PM

I make sure I see every Pokemon i can before the E4 and then I beat them to see the remaining.

Before i reset i just got it right away but when i see all 210 pokemon im going to hold it off untill my main team is like on 65

thorn96 June 21st, 2009 12:34 AM

I don't see the point in waiting to see/record pokes from other games. So I just get it right away, as soon as I can. :)

Jordan... June 21st, 2009 3:59 AM

I got it as soon as i could. Took me ages to beat the pokemon league, can hardly beat it now and all my pokémon are lvl 70-80

derozio June 21st, 2009 4:17 AM

I just get it right away after seeing all the pokemon required to get it.

When i first got my Diamond on the release date, i think i got the National Dex three months? after.

processr June 21st, 2009 4:23 AM

As soon as I could. In Diamond, I think I only needed one more after beating Cynthia, and that was Palkia, so it didn't take long. It must've been a few days after first getting the game, as it took me four days to beat the game. I had a few more missing in Platinum - Manaphy, the Lake Trio etc.

pokefansam June 21st, 2009 4:39 AM

i got it asap because i just wanted to go to the battle park

Ayselipera June 21st, 2009 4:31 PM

I just get it. Stalling or getting it right away doesn't change anything for me.

JP June 21st, 2009 5:53 PM

In Diamond, I waited and trained my team to good levels to compete with the E4 and then got the national pokedex. In Platinum however, I just went for it. Didn't feel like waiting again lol.

Haha, I hear you. I trained my Pokemon to Level 70, and now I have the National Dex. I am now battling all of the Trainers in
all of the areas, making my way to Stark Mountain. Thank you to everyone who responded, I just wanted to make sure I was
well leveled enough to make the journey without too much trouble. The wild Pokemon and the trainers are tough. :]

I was a fiend with Pokemon Platinum so I probably got the National Pokedex 2 days after the game came out

I tend to defeat the E4 then have maybe 5 or 6 pokemon left to see before going to Stark mountain etc. I don't wait for anything though. I do all my training after the main quest as well as my collecting! That way i have all the side quests and a lot of pokemon to obtain after the main quest and i'm not bored :)

Mecond June 27th, 2009 4:06 PM

I went for the National Dex rather quickly. I didn't really want to wait.

Mr.Silver June 27th, 2009 5:53 PM

1 day after i bought the games (all 3).....................
