Prices?

I'm pretty sure i shouldn't be posting this here, but here goes. What would the price of a Japanese copy cost of HG/SS in US dollars, and the shipping.

Britney's Circus June 21st, 2009 11:50 AM

$75 because of the shipping and the Poke-Walker thing.

sab June 21st, 2009 12:06 PM

$50, $10 for shipping, and it depends on where you buy it. I once saw pokemon firered for $900!

Can you get it without the Poke-Walker

øbliteration June 21st, 2009 4:10 PM

No, Pokéwalker comes in the game box (unless you use ebay.)

JP June 21st, 2009 5:35 PM

I wonder if the prices will be the same as the previous DS games since it includes the Pokewalker.

fwice June 21st, 2009 6:52 PM

the pokewalker is a good idea with the current obesity rates

Tinhead Bruce June 21st, 2009 6:58 PM

^ Wow.... irrelevant much?

The Pokewalker is a piece of plastic, and can be manufactured for close to nothing. Unless Nintendo really wants to alienate their fan base that has been waiting so long for this by charging a lot of extra cash for a non-optional addition, I expect Nintendo won't up the price by more than maybe 5 bucks. Obviously you have to add in $10-$15 for the shipping and handling, so all told, I'd expect the entire cost to be $55-$60.

yaminokame June 21st, 2009 7:23 PM

Actually shipping has never cost me $10+ dollars :/ It's usually around the same price for the game (round to $50) + $3ish for shipping (That is not going with express shipping or anything, one of the lower ones) These are what mine have cost so far:
Pokemon Platinum: $48.90 + $2.90 = $51.80
PMD Sky: $49.90 + $3.40 = $53.30
I think it's safe to assume that you can get it for a price around low $50.

SuperLightning June 21st, 2009 7:33 PM

but...DS games are only 35$ when the come out....so im guessing 40$!
but...if your gonna preorder it the price woud go up again...probably 5 or 10 bucks

JP June 21st, 2009 7:55 PM

Why would it cost more to preorder? Everytime I preorder something, it's $5 less than it's original price.

Pokemon games usual base price in Japan is usually 4800 yen, which comes out to be approx. $48.00 :P

SuperLightning June 21st, 2009 9:55 PM

BWHAHAHAHAA

I only gots to pay 35$ for new DS games. MWAHHAHAHAHA :P

Foxnordic June 22nd, 2009 8:35 AM

i've heard you can download the game on the internet, its a legit but idk where you'll find the game

JoltIce June 22nd, 2009 8:43 AM

^^That's called emulation, which is illegal.

wolf June 22nd, 2009 8:49 AM

Around ~$55 for Japanese version, maybe around ~$45 for American. That is factored without shipping and tax.

Artemis June 22nd, 2009 8:50 AM

This was speculated on before, the price. In Japan, like stated, the usual price for a DS game would be 4800 Yen. So, with the bundles in PokéWalk device, it should only go up a few more around 5000 Yen, if any. This is a special package, so prices shouldn't be lifted to any higher price, because then it would be basically like buying two things for the extra cost. Not to mention, when you include the cost of shipping, the price would go up for the buyer of couse. However, in the USA, the regular price for a DS game is about $35.00 and that is for the game alone. Usually, when things are included it would go up to about $40.00 - $50.00. So, things shouldn't be raised to an upright high price. In addition, the PokéWalker isn't currently known to hit outside of Japan, and if it isn't, then the US price for HeartGold and SoulSilver will remain at $35.00 for the most. As for the Japanese price converted to US Dollars, it should be just about $52.05, but this does not include the cost of shipping. So, My guess would be a roughly in the early to mid sixties, depending where and from who you purchase the game from.

Note: When countering the prices, tax and shipping were not included, but mentioned.

Actually, although it sounds irrelevant, it really isnt. The original Pokemon pedometer games that came out around the Gold and Silver period (one of which could interact with a Gold and Silver game) had won awards for promoting good health in exchange for in game prizes. The PokeWalk device is definitely going to be a center talking piece in the media when these games are released in the english speaking countries.

Also, I think the PokeWalk will come with every game until they get reprinted, much like Fire Red and Leaf Green, as the Player Choice editions did not contain the wireless adapter.

Eggie Poo Poo June 22nd, 2009 9:30 AM

The Pokewalker better not be included in the price because I don't even want it, so if I have to pay for it its an outrage and I'm going to complain to Game Freak.

Britney's Circus June 22nd, 2009 9:56 AM

I guess you could get it second-hand without the Pokewalker then.

kellogs June 22nd, 2009 10:32 AM

Hopefully the same price i bought Platinum for £30.99 , really don't think they'll charge for the pokewalker , they're cheap tamagotchi's and they give you a bit of exercise.

TheAliveTrain June 22nd, 2009 10:45 AM

FireRed and LeafGreen also came (at least here) with a device to trade Pokémon without cables in a distance of 10meters, if I'm not wrong. And it was the same price.
The Pokéwalker may not cost anything too, and thats what I guess.

And about that of complains, they sell what they want, and you buy if you want. Right? There's no reason to complain.

Artemis June 22nd, 2009 10:57 AM

Alright, so lets assume the ¥1,000 Yen is added with the bundles accessory for the remakes making it ¥5,800. Then that would make my idea that the price would actually be about $60.50 in US price. This of course does not include the shipping fee, which again will depend on exactly where and whom you purchase the game from. So, overall, that isn't half bad. I mean you're getting the game, the included box, and the PokéWalk device. The infrared like said will of course increase the price instead of concluding it as a cheap add in. However, at least the basic price of it pays off in the long run as you still get the chance to play through the game, and not only but you get the included bundle pack. So, just for about ¥5,800 Yen or $60.50 plus S&H [US Price] you are getting a pretty good deal.

Haha, really now? I'm sure most people would rather just keep saving up and pay for an English version they can understand. I think you failed to account for the shipping costs in this case because you do have to consider that the Pokéwalker WILL add to the dimensions and weight of the unit.

For the cost of the shipping fee, what I pointed out in bold explains it. So, yes the price will be added in. However, there are some outside of Japan that are pretty anxious for the game and wouldn't mind getting the Japanese version. Now to me, I'd rather wait for the English copy of the remakes as I'd want to actually understand what I'm basically playing and at least it'll be a cheaper price for myself. Though, like I said there are some who would want it earlier and if they can afford it, then why wouldn't they go for it? Overall, the thread asked for the basic price of the Japanese version in US dollars, which would be around $60.50 PLUS S&H. This of course is speculation based on if the Japanese price is ¥5,800.

bobandbill June 26th, 2009 12:44 AM

Well... according to serebii.net and the official site which just got updated, the price will be at 4800 yen. (Along with a September 12th '09 release).
