So, About Dunsprace...

Anyone ever find a use for this, thing?

I've played through G/S/C countless times and always overlook it. Nobody else ever seems to use it and I'd like to be a bit different and make use of it. So, has anyone ever had any luck with using Dunsprace as a Pokemon? I really want to know in advance so that I can incorperate it into my E4 team.

billi1000 June 27th, 2009 1:16 AM

i ve had dunsparce in my team before, hes not that bad, he learns a couple of good attacks on his own, and i taught him a bit of TM moves, and i was able to use him against the E4 and helped since it had earthquake, so its not that bad of a pokemon... maybe a new evolve of it wil appear in the next generation or so, anyway i think this goes in the complaints thread man ...

Britney's Circus June 27th, 2009 1:25 AM

I used him, utter rubbish until Earthquake came in.

bobandbill June 27th, 2009 5:48 AM

Moved this to this section as it doesn't actually have much to do with HG/SS at all... best place for it, really, I suppose, solely as it's a 2nd gen poke. *shrugs*

Dunsparce ftw.

øbliteration June 27th, 2009 6:08 AM

I actually had him on my crystal team until I got dratini. High HP, semi-high attack, decent TM moveset....
OK, no, it sucks.

Pocchama01 June 28th, 2009 6:30 PM

Dunsparce is one of my favorite 2nd gen pokemon. I always try to get one and they are very useful to me. My cousin beat lance's entire team with a dunsparce by using rollout.

Blazers June 28th, 2009 6:53 PM

Just watch....
Gen 5 he'll have some diesel form and become a dragon or somethin.

King_Zora June 28th, 2009 8:03 PM

I think Dunsparce is a great pokemon I only had one in GSC though.

Meadow June 29th, 2009 7:13 AM

Dunsparce is good, especially with Earthquake.

pokemonfreak47 June 29th, 2009 7:15 AM

Dunesparce? No...

Dunsparce is a completly worthless pokemon. Whats the point of having him?

Yaliw June 30th, 2009 2:08 PM

Everything is good with Earthquake.

Get a Miltank, that thing is AWESOME!

Roxasabridged June 30th, 2009 3:46 PM

Dunsparce is the kind of Pokemon I constantly forget exists...

xxChazxx June 30th, 2009 7:22 PM

Other than Earthquake and Rollout, I've seen no reason to get him, unless I make a team of bad Pokemon. Miltank can learn both of those attacks and is much easier to look at to boot.

I may catch him, but only for Pokedex completion.

I've raised it a couple of levels (I gave it a try) but then I got bored of it so I left it in the PC and never took it out again

I envy you with unrivaled passion xD

Yawh, in one of my files it was the first pokemon I saw, but that one got erased by my cousin. (stupid pcs having to save back then -_-)

To actually add to this thread, dunsparce is a viable pokemon for beating the elite four and Red, he doesn't even need earthquake to do it.

Jahool July 1st, 2009 9:20 PM

I think dunsparce is awesome, I have had one before and their pretty good.
On a side note: I think dunsparce is underappriciated so for the whole month of July I'm gonna raise dunsparce awareness haha (I'm serious though)

Niprop July 1st, 2009 10:22 PM

Poor Dunsparce, it's best remembered as the most forgettable pokémon around. :(

jAvAcOlA July 1st, 2009 11:00 PM

Dunsparce is actually my favorite. He stinks in G/S/C...but in all the games after that he's really good if you give him the right moves to compliment his ability.

Dunsparce July 2nd, 2009 3:28 AM

Being the leading Dunsparce Expert, I need to point this out:

Dunsparce couldn't get Ice Beam, Blizzard, Shadow Ball, Earthquake, and Fire Blast until 3rd Gen.

Dunsparce's 2nd Gen Movepool:

Level Up:
Rage
Defense Curl
Glare
Spite
Pursuit
Screech
Take Down

TMs:
Headbutt
Curse
Rollout
Toxic
Zap Cannon
Rock Smash
Psych Up
Hidden Power
Sunny Day
Snore
Protect
Rain Dance
Endure
Frustration
Solarbeam
Iron Tail
Thunder
Return
Dig
Mud-Slap
Double Team
Swagger
Sleep Talk
Defense Curl
Dream Eater
Rest
Attract
Thief

HMs:
Strength

Move Tutor:
Thunderbolt
Flamethrower

NYPC(Event):
Fury Attack
Horn Drill

I have a Level-100 Dunsparce on Crystal(My English one, not my Japanese one), with Thunderbolt, Return, Iron Tail, and Flamethrower.

AND STOP SAYING MY BELOVED TSUCHINOKO IS A HORRIBLE POKEMON!!! IT'S AWESOME AND YOU KNOW IT!!!

For those that are uneducated, a Tsuchinoko is a Mythical Creature that is the basis for Dunsparce(It's Japanese name, Nokocchi, is simply the swapping around of the Characters in "Tsuchinoko")

aribradshaw July 2nd, 2009 4:10 AM

in my pc, i have partys, dunsparce is in my lv. 50 competitive team 2, he knows fire blast, earthquake, mud slap (which rocks) and hyper beam

Ineffable~ July 2nd, 2009 6:00 PM

[rant]People see Dunsparce and after one glance think "It sucks". They never even think about it, they never try to teach it TMs, they never give it a chance before saying that it sucks. People think it needs "a better variety of moves". It can learn THUNDERBOLT, FLAMETHROWER, BLIZZARD, THUNDER, FIRE BLAST, ICE BEAM, THUNDER WAVE, ROLLOUT, GLARE, ROCK SLIDE, DREAM EATER, WATER PULSE... and much others. It even learns freakin' Roost by level-up! What do you consider variety?![/rant]

Anyway... let me say something. Dunsparce's ability Serene Grace is awesome with all the attacks it learns. Though its stats aren't the best, it is still a decent Pokémon if you actually try. If it evolved, its evolution would be perfect.

Pocchama01 July 2nd, 2009 6:59 PM

Whenever I catch a dunsparce I always name it Tsuchinoko. So does my cousin :) I had no idea dunsparce had that much variety in his movesets though.... Well now I like dunsparce even more than I used to :)
