yup. im gonna get flamed for this O_e
BEHOLD THE GUY WHO WILL PROBABALY MAKE PPL GO WTF
I use this team: Shuckle Wobbuffet Exeggutor Octillery Torkoal Slowbro The reason for this team: they are my favorite pokemon. Nothing else. I dont ev train either. why you may ask? becuase i think this whole system of pokemon rules, super wall strategies and OU and UU system is complete idiotic. yep i said it. and i know i will get alot of angry gamers after me for this. Ive had it with theese stupid rules, seriously. i really miss the good old days. back then it would of been all normal battles without a whole commotion on walls and rules. the rules are what are really annoying me which i will now talk about one after one. Over/under-used pokemon: what is up with this idiotic and unecesery rule. this is probabaly the rule that annoys me the most in every single pokemon battle i have online my entire life. Why cant it be just the pokemon you like. like in the good old pokemon gamer days?. my friend uses all over-used, not because there strong but because he simply likes the pokemon. i think people should be allowed to use the pokemon they like best and not be cut out by some stupid rule. same with underused, pokemon get degraded down to nothing in some parts. I for myself only use pokemon that i like. nothing else. heck i even raised a delibird because i like them. (yup im gonna get hated for this i can see it comming) ubers: No ubers no ubers no ubers no ubers, we all see it aaaaall the time. nintendo didnt make the game so that some pokemon are banned from use. why the hell is garchomp uber? i myself dont use him but seriously guys. one pokemon HAS to be the fastest that dosnt mean it has to be made uber. if you dont want certain pokemon, just say "i dont want this that because of this that reason" yes its true they made this rule to be "Fair" but seriously people. its pokemon, its a game, for fun. yes you battle to win but cmon. the main focus should always remain fun. walls: if you fight somewone online. yep you guesing it you always see the same pokemon in a costant flow. Blissey. im so sick of seeing theese things and i bet some of you are too. what happened to the variety in this game? im sick of constantly fighting the same pokemon over and over again. i swear once i battled 3 trainers and ech had exactly the same team.....thats just no fun. why dont you trainers just raise the pokemon you like and enjoy it rather with fighting with pokemon you dont like at all. yep. i know whats gonna come now. get out your negative feedback. i know your probabaly itching to shout at me. but i think i have a right to express my opinion aldo THIS IS MY OPINION I DO NOT THINK PEOPLE WHO DO IT THIS WAY ARE STUPID IOR LESS INTELLIGANT IN ANY WAY *takes cover* |
Hooray, someone with the same thoughts about all these tiers and stuff that I do. I whole-heartedly agree with you on this. I wish that people would stop thinking about "What Pokemon have good strategical potential" and more of "I like this Pokemon, I think I'll use it."
Off Topic: I +repped you for this. |
=O crippes almighty you think the same? thats awsome, i declare you Epic for life.
thanks im just fed up with this too. i doubt ill make a difference but it was worth a try thanks for the positive feedback =D |
I think so too. If you're using strong pokemon, but you don't like them, then what's the fun?
|
I'm not going to flame you (nor should anyone else, btw, everyone has their opinion) but... the game's not forcing you here. o_o;

yes, there are standards throughout the net that players like to associate with to make things fair and competitive (and fun, I've had fun since I abused my all-out strategies since day one) Quote:
You're a-okay to use favorites but some of us really like the competitive gridiron filled with strategy, statistics, and preparation. We're not stupid for having some fun in a different way. |
I also agree. Most of my favorites like gardevoir, dunsparce, and froslass are Under used but I dont care. Im not gonna use a pokemon I hate like infernape just because its good in battle :\. I use pokemon I like :).

Lol interesting team.
Good to see someone who underrated pokemon and ones you don't see often. |

I understand not wanting to EV train/breed (that's why I like Shoddy) but complaining about how you hate often-used Pokemon (eg. Blissey) and only using the ones that tickle your fancy is about as close minded as people who only use things at the pointy tip of OU because they're used often. You should be open to using any Pokemon. I understand wanting to make favorites usable but you can't realistically use Shuckle in Ubers where Wobbuffet resides.
And the reason for tiers... Game Freak never attempted to make the game balanced. Therefore, you have to separate things to keep Palkia from defeating a team whose primary members are Altaria and Charizard. Things are divided up for a reason. Really, except for Ubers, everything is divided into tiers because of usage, a result of usability yet altogether the only reason for OU-NU. OU Pokemon are used the most because people want to win. BL Pokemon are generally used the next most often (yet rarely) because they are seen as just as or almost as usable as OU Pokemon. UU Pokemon are used the next most often because they are more useful in their own metagame and have issues that make them less useful in OU. Some "top tier" NUs are usable in OU whilst the bottom of the barrel is not. Regice, Floatzel, and Slowking are examples of things that could potentially (and used to) be used in OU. |
I see your point.
but IN MY OPINION if nobody would of posted those tiers people wouldnt even constantly go for the same pokemon. they wouldnt even know. i just think the people would enjoy the game more withought this metagame system |

Man. I'm +repping you for the ability to post whatever you feel when in these days people get really uptight about competitive battling.

You should post this on smogon, and see what they have to say ;D. I would paypal you 100$ (not really). Nice post, I felt good reading it =D |
Sure, there's nothing wrong with using the Pokemon that you like...but you'd better prepare to get get your ass kicked.
Tiers were created to make the game fairer. There's nothing fair about sending out Mewtwo against a Volbeat. Even if the Volbeat has a type advantage, it doesn't stand a chance. Tiers pit strong Pokemon against strong Pokemon and weak Pokemon against weak Pokemon. If there were no rules about Ubers and the like, you would see people with the same teams of Legendaries mercilessly crushing your team to dust over and over again. I do see your point, though. Rules like these can really limit the metagame. I've heard people say that they prefer BL over OU for the variety. On the other hand, is there a rule about playing a low-tier Pokemon in a higher tier? I suspect that there isn't. So if you want, you can pit your team of favourite Pokes against a strategic team of OU superpowers. It would be like playing with a handicap, and I guess that's fun sometimes. Quote:

Wobbuffet, some of your claims regarding tiers are unfounded due to the fact that Nintendo did not invent the tiers, the players did. Many walkthroughs and basic strategy guides for Pokemon have been sold, but not a single one stated the base stats of Blissey, Tyranitar, or Bronzong. Neither has Nintendo ever revealed to the world the way that EV training works. We discovered these things, and we chose to implement them because it made the game more enjoyable for us. You were entirely right when you stated that the point of the game is to have fun, and this is how most players choose to do it. No one is going to think any less of you for not wanting to participate in the same way that they choose to (well, most people won't), but you should likewise respect those who's play style may differ from yours, particularly with comments regarding their level of intelligence (after reading Beach Boy's post, I understood that you were not trying to suggest anything, but it appeared to be that way).
All of this being said, I am also a fan of Exeggutor, Octillery, and Slowbro. |
Well like i said this is my opinion think I <----- think that it would generally be more fun for most people to do it the old fashioned way. most people i battle nowadays ae pure win wanting machines that get worked up if they loose thinking there team is flawed. thats what i get mostly nowadays.
i respect everywones opinion |
wow, I like the fact that you use Shuckle on your team, what moves does it have Wobbuffet?
:t354:TG |
Toxic, protect rest and bide, thanks for asking Queen Boo
|
While it may be a slightly odd team, the likes of Wobbuffet and Slowbro peek my curiosity, I have to admit, I'm unfamilar with the others as of now, since I haven't really "played played" any Pokemon games since Gold and Silver.
I'd have to agree with you when it comes to seemingly over-strategic teams if they take some of the fun out of playing. Purchasing Nintendo DSi + Platinum tomorrow and looking forward to building a team of my own. |
I have a question, did you use this team for in game or competitive battling?
|
Quote:
|
Holy cow, Exeggutor and Shuckle- for that alone you have my respect.
I'm not one for the competitive battling either, but I feel that if people want to do it, that's their choice. I've never had the time for all that specific breeding and training. |

It's good to see people who still use Pokemon they like over ones that are simply high tiered. Although I do care about the tiers, many of the Pokemon I use are Underused ones and are Pokemon that I have selected simply because I like their physical appearance and playstyles.
You can't really blame anyone for using the tiers because it is quite simply fact that some Pokemon are obviously far stronger than others. |
You have my respect wobbuffet
Now, on account of tiers and EV training, some people are really competitive, and always want to do their best to win, if this means bypassing 10 shinies while soft resetting for a pokemon for good IV's, or breeding for days on end for the best movesets and IV's and EVing for a couple of hours, so be it, they simply want to win, although i have to admit some people get way to drawn into and go way too far, im not one of those people, anyways, it is a game and you should play it the way you want too :) |
My team is: Pichu, Pichu, Pichu, Pichu, Pichu, Pichu and Pichu.
Yeah, I know they're 7. Heck with the rules. That's the way I like it. D: |
i only EV train and such underused poke's
over used, i usually raise to like level 53, and kick em out the door. (in this case, release them) |
I agree =D using favorite pokemon instead of "I will use pokemon that are only worth it!!!"
I don't EV train either, just kill w/e for EXP xD |

However... pleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease do not accuse other people of being jerks. Just because we like to strategize and breed and stuff does not mean we're going to flame you. It really kind of hurts me that you just assume that we're so bigoted or even that we mind your battling style. It's actually quite judgmental. -.- ~All the best, Lilbittygoat |
I respect you for this Wobbuffet, using an underdog team is something I always love to do. My team that I use, I know I could make really strong if pokemon were real and could be a strong party. With your party, with the bond you'd have with them and training after a while, of course their levels will be high and they could shock people. It is hard to in the games though on wifi/ competitive battling which is why you have earned my respect. I use a party of underdogs also, which I know I had in real life, I would be able to surprise people after I get them stronger
Weezing Flareon Pidgeot Starmie Butterfree Chikorita/Victreebel Now, there are some strong points, but it's not what you'd consdier a "powerfull" team. But those are my favorites and I'd choose them any day no matter what. |

*shrugs* Iv'e used the same battling team since Silver and Gold Version came out, My team is kinda over used but they are my favorites and they work well together
|
The only reason why i dont EV train is because im very lazy
If people want to battle competitively, then let them If people want to battle with their favorites , then let them Both are fun to different people, so relax aye What ever happened to each to their own? Peace Love and Unity? and all that crap |
I... just use whatever sounds good at the moment. xD I'm not into EV training, competitive battling, etc. because, quite honestly, I'm too lazy. ಠ____ಠ
BUT. The games themselves have taken a more complex route, so it gives way to choosing how you train. I like this route the games have taken. Uh, but I admire both you for using an "underdog' team and the people that use strategy and competitive battle. As long as you're happy with your own team, I find that admirable itself. |
I enjoy that Pokemon can be a technical game with all of the stats and categories that are slowly coming out but...what I like about Pokemon is that...I can catch and train and attach myself to any of them and use them as my partner. I don't like thinking that I need a certain type of Pokemon to be able to compete in certain matches. That's not what Pokemon and battling is for me. Pokebattling is just taking your favorite most cherished Pokemon and training them to the best of your ability: ev/ivs and stats be damned.
|
I think the tiers are only good for keeping out crazy ubers that sweep your team. I don't like the rest of the tiers how some times it looks like they just feel like putting a pokemon were ever; like blazikin is a uu right now and infernape is an ou. I know it's based on use but that is the problem if there is going to be a tier system it should be based on power. I just made an ou team and I only used like 2 ous. I used blazikin insted of infernape even though the tiers say infernape is better when it's really not.
|
I agree with the "I like this pokemon, I'm gonna use 'em". I have a blastoise on my team, every time I say that people ask "What's it for?"....For battling, duh. And the team seems good. In competitive battling people may think you have something else and tr to guess what you'll do. Then you can confuse them a possiby beat them.
|
I too am not into breeding and the other complicated mechanics of the game but I do EV train the ones I like just to make them stronger. I use the pokemon which I like and you too are telling that one should use a pokemon one likes. I know that what I am about to say applies to very few but still: What if the players that you played liked to use blissey and not for being strong competitively? Tiers and EVs, IVs are discovered by us and not declared by nintendo and they just add a little challenge and a little depth to the gameplay as said by others. BTW: I N-E-V-E-R care for IVs! They are really something that are really COMPLICATED FOR ME!!!
(Offtopic)I am sending you a FR just for how you said what you wanted to say corageously!(Of course its upto you to accept my FR!) |

I completely agree 100% with everything. IN MY OPINION teams should be all for fun. not just complete stradegy(sp?). I think people should have more funn and not take it soooooo seriously.
|
i dont care for special training and breeding, nor do i "get it". and im lazy /hit
i just think you should use the pokemon you like for battling! if your favorite pokemon is magikarp then go ahead, use him if you like overused and/or ubers like, garchomp, or mewtwo, use him if you like to battle with iv, ev, tiers, extra special egg move and stat breeded poke's by all means do it! go on and have fun, thats what pokemon is, fun~ |
I think that one should use a pokemon one loves and has fun battling with it. If one likes using strategies then one can use them as they may find fun in it(dunno how they can find fun in strategy but still!).
