I'm having problems managing my social group (Don't know to make a new rule)

I've read the FAQ, but I can't find the answer to the question I have.

I want to place a new rule that requires my permission before posting new threads. I might want to introduce an assistant moderator for the group as well.

We've already had three threads that have been deleted by PC staff members. They are all about reputation and I want to stop the insanity before it makes my group look bad. This is not a bad group, we are just having some problems with a troubled user.

Ask Gretchen Weiners for additional info because she deleted one of our threads (and the deleted thread cropped up before I logged in)

I agree, I think there should be a group of moderators responsible for Social Groups in general.

There is an option to make it moderated when you first made it why didn't you? I mean its a sensitive subject and it should have been a moderated social group from the start.

I don't think it's possible with Groups so it's best to pester an admin and see what they can do. Annnnnnd why make moderators for such a small thing?

Sajuuk July 10th, 2009 5:13 AM

I'm sure there's permissions for what your moderator can do. :D

Why make extra people moderate specifically groups when all the staff pretty much moderate groups already? I don't see the need in causing all that to happen. The forum's already got enough staff as it is, anyway. Adding more to that would be unnecessary. It's not like there's really that much to do with discussions in groups, anyway. Delete, undelete, approve, unapprove... and that's really all that there needs to be. Kind of shocked that you think there needs to be more people who specifically do that to groups when we already have more than enough people who already do that. :(

And assigning an assistant moderator? What are you trying to be, an admin? Sure, you can always create specific rules for your group, but just ask someone, if you would like, to keep an eye on the group at most. Assigning a moderator seems kind of silly if you ask me. Especially for something as small as modding group discussions considering how there's a report function that works perfectly fine with user groups.

I'm guessing you consider yourself perfect for the role, Spey.

That was completely unnecessary.

I dont think we should assign mods for something as small and inactive as social groups, pretty much what Zet said.

The problem is that I'm not the one who created the group. I've been asked to be the moderator of this group, so I took charge.

By the way, it was a moderated group from the start.
