Holy crap, move tutors.

I decided a while ago that as soon as I got Platinum I'd raise a Butterfree for competitive (don't look at me like that). Being familiar with the D/P moveset, I was expecting its special attacks to be something like Psychic, Bug Buzz, and Energy Ball.

I got bored and checked the moves that it can learn through Platinum tutors, and found Ominous Wind, Air Cutter, and to my vast surprise, Twister!

What I want to know is this: How have the tutors changed your team? Are you using things that you thought you wouldn't because of a new move, or are you just using the tutors to buff up the Pokemon that you were using in D/P?

Calvo819 July 8th, 2009 10:06 AM

not much. only move tutor moves i got were the Elemental Punches and SuperPower

Ayselipera July 8th, 2009 11:26 AM

Well actually I hate clutter to the extreme and having all those shards in my bad creates lots of clutter. So I end up selling them all. Plus the move tutors never have the moves I want anyways.

Bagel July 8th, 2009 11:32 AM

the move tutor has really helped me.

it taught my charizard moves that have helped me so much in the battle tower

if your pokemon has sucky moves and you have a heart scale
i seriously recomend goin to the move tutor jst see wat ur pokemon can learn i guarrentee u'll be surprised

Black Ice July 8th, 2009 12:50 PM

The move tutors in Platinum are actually quite decent. Draco Meteor, elemental punches, Knock Off, Trick, Aqua Tail, Heat Wave, Outrage, and Superpower. A lot better than what I remember from Emerald.

Mimikyu402 July 9th, 2009 5:13 AM

draco meteor was in DP too

Silhouette July 9th, 2009 7:50 AM

Oh, yeah, my team changed a lot! My Torterra knows Outrage. That's epic win.

Greene1516 July 9th, 2009 8:00 AM

The fact that my Crobat and Zapdos have access to Heat Wave is huge.

Yaliw July 9th, 2009 1:40 PM

Zapdos with Heatwave,
Blastoise with Outrage,
Steelix with Aqua Tail,
Cresselia with Trick,
Cacturne with Synthesis,

yeah... feels good being cool

LordDarkrai July 9th, 2009 2:10 PM

The move tutor were very useful to my Weavile and other that did very good in battles.

Ha ha ha, you don't have to tell me about that.

Leyt July 9th, 2009 4:09 PM

Indeed. Without the tutor, some of my greatest desired moves wouldn't have been available.

PsychoJigglypuff July 9th, 2009 4:46 PM

I find it helpful. Especially since I find a truckload of Heart Scales in the Underground.

dotKarma July 9th, 2009 5:14 PM

It's given me a better choice of what moves to give my Pokemon. The movesets haven't changed much, but when I'm planning it adds things which may be better or worse

Porygon2 with...Last Resort?

I guess if you:

Porygon2 used Sharpen!

Porygon2 used Discharge!

Porygon2 used Sharpen!

Porygon2 used Return!

Porygon2 used Last Resort!

That's not right; people get tired of Porygon2 and hit it with close combat by turn four. xP

ShinyLucario99 July 9th, 2009 7:03 PM

It's changed my team... well my starter at least

Overheat is pwnsome :D

derozio July 10th, 2009 5:03 AM

I know that I should use them to my advantage but I haven't used them.( Maybe coz I play on an emulator and am not into competitive gameplay. I WILL use them when I get a real DS!)

An Imperialist named Dak July 10th, 2009 10:26 AM

When I finally stop being lazy and beat the E4, im gonna make a team for the battle frontier.

Some pokemon on stall teams love to have spite.

Denzer July 10th, 2009 10:42 AM

Very useful. I think Bullet Punch Scizor is the most famous move.

Blaziquaza July 11th, 2009 1:05 AM

Hmmm....The move tutors have changed my Garchomp. Its moves are:
Draco Meteor
Outrage
Dragon Claw
Earth Power

Mapl3Syrup July 11th, 2009 2:53 AM

I taught my Luxray Magnet Rise, so now nothing is Supereffective against him when he uses it :D

Pokestick, good times. July 11th, 2009 7:33 AM

They haven't really changed my team. Yet.
Come to think about it, I prefer catchin' over battlin'... So that makes sense.

I dont use the special move tutors, just the fat person in Pastoria Town (heart scale manic)

:t354:TG

derozio July 11th, 2009 9:10 AM

^ Yeah! I too use only that one. But does he count as a move tutor? He's more like move relearner actually.....

Hovo July 11th, 2009 1:50 PM

I use the fat guy in Pastoria, too. I don't bother to find out where the other ones are anyway. XD
