Walkthrough or not?
Hi all.
Just curious, when HG/SS is released, are you guys going to use a walkthrough to get through the game or are you going to be like me and do it the ol' fashioned way? |
I just play reguarly. I would only use a walkthrough if I was stuck on something, but pokemon games are pretty straight forward so I don't see the need.
I don't really need a Walkthrough... that's what Bulbapedia is for.
No walkthrough for me, I always go through without walkthroughs... unless of course I get stuck for waaaay too long
Nah, I see no need. You're pretty much strung along a clear path, so I don't really find any need to use a walkthrough and whatnot. A guide, however, may come in use when trying to figure out how to evolve or get a certain Pokemon. >>
If by Walkthrough you mean one of those Guidebooks, yeah I use it. Not to walkthrough the game just for the Pokemon on the routes. I've played G/S several times.
I know I'm not gonna use it cuz I only played G/S when I was younger and never again did I play it after my Crystal version corrupted, so I won't use a walkthrough to ruin the element of surprise. XD
The only games I needed a walkthrough for were RSE, because the story progression sucks so much in Gen III. It doesn't give you enough information about where to go next.
GSC are probably the most linear games (in a good way, it feels like you're a tourist and you're travelling through the region in a logical order) so I definitely won't need a walkthrough. :) |
Why even bother getting a walkthrough in the first place?
If you played the origional Gold and Silver versions then you should know what to do. |
I made it through Gold as a young child without a guide, so I think I'll be able to find my way around HeartGold
Nope, I've played through Johto enough times to know where things are, however if I do get stuck I'll either try to resort to my old crystal guide or pull up an online guide.
I used a game guide for GSC -- but only to find out which Pokemon are on which routes, and what events happen on the days of the week and the day/night differences.
As for a walkthrough to tell you how to beat the game? Nah, haven't used one of those. Pokemon is one of the most linear games out there in terms of knowing where to go next. |
of course not because I never did to begin with, and since its a remake and I've been playing Pokemon Crystal recently so I should know the whole concept of HG/SS when it comes out
:t354:TG |
Seeing as it's a remake, yes and no.
I will definitely not use a walk through during the parts of the game that is very familiar to me. As for the other parts, like side quests/post-ending, I'll most likely use a walk through, because, we all know, it's going to be pretty different, so I don't know what I'll encounter through the game. I'll most likely figure it out myself, but if it is too hard, I'll use a walk through. |
Hell no. I don't think I will ever need to even take a glimpse at a walkthrough while playing a Pokemon Game.
Besides, for Pokemon there is Serebii or such site, which are better sources than walkthroughs. All I need to know is what new things are there that I don't know about, and what do I need to do in order to make a perfect savegame. |
Heck no, I don't need a walkthrough!
Why would you need a walktrough? It's a remake.
Also, walkthroughs are a last resort. THE VERY LAST. |
I won't use a walkthrough because I've played Silver several times without a walkthrough. And I won't need one for SoulSilver :D
Probably not I don't think I'll need one.
Pokémon games are so easy, I don't need walkthrough I have completed Gold 5 times... I don't use walkthrough in any game if I haven't been stucked over month.
I'll still buy a walkthrough, i love having guides to my games (L)
but i won't use it to like guide me along the story, just to point out where the pokemon i want are, and what levels they learn moves etc |
When I was a kid and I was stuck in all the caves in Blue, I used walkthroughs. But now, all I need is Marriland's Team Checker to see any weaknesses my final team may have.
EDIT: You can find that on Serebii and Bulbapedia, Ryan. |
I don't really need them but I usually use online walkthroughs to find out where certain Pokemon are and to find the ways though annoying caves. It's because it's easy to miss a way (I used to hate Mt. Silver for that matter...needed hours to find the way out -.-)
Other than that, no. I build my Team up by chance and the sorylines are also always easy in Pokemon games. |
No. I have no use for a walkthrough because I can find all the information I need on the internet. Plus, I really don't have any place in my room to put the walkthrough at when I am done with it.
Quote:
i had a guide for the original games (L) I won't use it overly for the main story, but i will for the side quests etc if i get stuck |
Im getting it just for the art, maps, and the knolage of having another Pokemon gameguide on my Pokemon table.
The first time I always play through solo. Then if I decide to restart, then I'll use the guide to make sure that I get everything.
Never used a walkthrough for Pokémon, never will. But I'll get it for the heck of it. Like posted above, maybe for artworks and game mechanics, etc.
I'll get through as much as I remember without a walkthrough, and save the trip to GameFAQs for when I am really stuck
Official walkthroughs have less detail of the games than online walkthroughs that you can easily find for free. Even then, I only use walkthroughs when I want to find a legendary Pokemon. Walkthroughs also ruin the suspense of the game. It'd be better for me not to use a walkthrough.
Never used one in my entire life. It would take the fun out of it.
If I truly get stuck, I'll turn to one. I got confused in Pearl/Platinum a couple times, even, so that was the first time I had to use help. Meh, I prefer going through alone, but if I can't, I can't.
^ Yeah. If I get stuck very badly then I guess I have to turn to walkthroughs.
I managed to get through GSC when i was 5 without one so i wont use one unless i get stuck somewhere.
I've never used a walkthrough for ANY game in my entire life, so I don't think I'll start now, and I've played Silver and Crystal so many times I don't think I can get stuck anywhere, if I do, I'll figure it out the old fashioned way, search till I find what I'm looking for. xD

when heartgold and soulsilver come out in the U.S, i will need a walkthrough because i never played pokemon gold and silver:(
I've never used a walkthrough for any of the Pokemon games that I've played so I doubt that I'll get one for Soul Silver.
That's right, I got through the Distortion World by myself. I didn't like the fabric tearing maze ... |
