Ignore feature

It'd be nice if there was a feature to automatically hide posts from users you don't like. For instance, let's say you don't like twocows. You can click his name, click "Ignore this user," and you won't see his posts anymore. I'm not sure how this would apply to people quoting that post, but at least it would be helpful for hiding the trolls and preventing flame wars and such.

I believe you're looking for this?

Kazukii July 14th, 2009 9:36 AM

No that's not what he means Abercrombie.. What he means is that it's annoying when you put someone on your ignore list but it doesn't blank out their posts, it offers you to view their posts instead.
I know what you mean & I agree it would be good to have a full block. I doubt it's been deemed necessairy by Vbulletin though =/

Tch, why would you need to ignore anyone when you can just hire a hitman? Haven't video games taught you anything?

:| I'm confused where you're getting that from as he stated that he just wants to automatically hide the message, not remove it. But regardless of what he meant, completely removing a message from a user's view without even the option to see it... I don't understand why you would want to do that, especially since there's a lot of likely chances that the member would be posting in the same area as you and there will likely come a time where they'll post in an important thread that you may be interested in seeing what they have to say.

That said, if the thread is a suggestion for completely removing messages by blocked users, I really wouldn't feel comfortable with that and depending on where you post in the forum, like in the games section, for example, that's likely to actually cause harm to the thread itself.

You know?

Kazukii July 14th, 2009 9:55 AM

Deleting & hiding the message mean the exact same thing within this topic, or that's how I meant it to come across. I understand the issues it may cause with threads, so I'm neutral with this idea now.

If that's how you meant to come across than you're kind of incorrect in that statement. Deleting messages compared to hiding the message don't at all mean the same thing. If the message is deleted for a specific user, there's no way at all to actually view the content compared to hiding them, which is what it's like now, when you at least have the option to view it.

But whatever you say, I guess.

Kazukii July 14th, 2009 10:00 AM

Well I didn't actually mean removing the message, I meant removing it from their view :cheeky:

Which is what it already does... :|

Kazukii July 14th, 2009 10:04 AM

Completely I meant. It doesn't currently, it gives them the option to view their message which is annoying. Ok, I'm done with this topic. Kthxbai :cheeky:

Completely would imply that you wouldn't be able to see that at all and last I checked, that message is completely gone. I can't see what you said at all unless I chose to view it. When I refresh the page, it's hidden again. So everything you said is just a ramble about something that's already there, and completely void of what I was saying. Congratulations.

Yeah but what if someone then posted in reply to the ignored person?

Youd'd be all like, "Wtf?"

Cazzicles July 14th, 2009 10:58 AM

I think what Zenus is trying to say is that, when you block/ignore someone, you don't expect to see the person's post come up again. I mean, you've blocked that person for a reason. Not to see any of their posts..

Well explained. When you really don't like someone, you don't want to know or see anything about them. I've felt this before.

twocows July 14th, 2009 1:00 PM

I didn't know the ignore list blocked peoples' messages, I thought it just blocked private messages (I didn't see it explained anywhere, so I just assumed). Sorry about making such a fuss. :/
