Day and Night?

Sorry, this may be a stupid question, but has it been confirmed at all the these games will keep day and night? Like shown with darkness, not just time (like done in R/S/E).

I know it's probably obvious they will but I still wondered if there was an conformation?

JP July 17th, 2009 7:42 AM

I don't think I've seen any confirmation of it, but it would make sense that they'd have it. :P

msdmario July 17th, 2009 7:47 AM

Day and Night will most likely be in the game. I see no reason why GameFreak would get rid of Gold and Silver's most important feature. If they do, then they really need a very good reason which won't be good enough for me whatever that reason is.

processr July 17th, 2009 7:47 AM

I can't see them defaulting on it again, like they did with Gen III. I'm convinced we'll have day and night in all its glory again - you'd think the original method to evolve Eevee to Espeon/Umbreon would remain in the remake of their generation's games.

Mitchman July 17th, 2009 7:49 AM

Obvious feature is obvious?

seeker July 17th, 2009 7:59 AM

Well aking into consideration that the originals were already in day and night and as are D/P/P I think it is a sure bet that HG/SS will be. If they aren't a lot of the events in the games would be ruined. Events such as Umbreon and Espeon, they were 2 key pokemon in G/S/C so i don't see why they wouldn't put Day & Night in i mean it would be kinda dumb... A lot of G/S/C was based around the day and night system. So many scripts were included! Such as the night cops who battle you, Evolutions, Even the people who call used to talk about how late and or dark it was.
I would bet my house on it that it will. I'm sure GameFreak assumed we expected day and night and didn't feel the need to announce it. And they most likely took ll their screenshots during working hours which were during the day.

They have to put this feature in the games because of the certain amount of Pokemon that come out at night (Hoot-hoot, Gastly) and certain Pokemon that fall out of trees when they're sleeping (I usually laugh at this)

haha are you for real? I don't remember any pokemon falling out of trees lol.

Timbjerr July 17th, 2009 9:07 AM

Since they're using the engine from D/P/Pt, I'd be surprised if they didn't have day and night fully implemented...

Ever tried using headbutt on the small trees in Ilex forest for example?

Ayselipera July 17th, 2009 9:17 AM

I'm pretty sure they will since Day and Night was first featured in G/S/C.

Obsession July 17th, 2009 9:23 AM

Definitely, it WILL have day and night |:3

POKéMIKE July 17th, 2009 9:44 AM

It'll probably have day and night, as well as afternoon, and dusk, and morning, and all of the other little time periods we got in DPPt. :) There's no reason they wouldn't use that feature, seeing as they've already coded it.

WindBlows July 17th, 2009 9:50 AM

I'm starting to doubt about it. We haven't seen any night/afternoon gameplay screenshot.

][ Wolf-Lord ][ July 17th, 2009 9:50 AM

I think that they wouldn't change it ...

because they know that they may make some players very confused and not feeling good ..

So ..

Day and night only ..

I think !

Percy Thrillington July 17th, 2009 10:48 AM

They can't change it, guys. They just can't! Think about it! It was made even better in DPP and it was one of the most important new features back then, when GSC were just being released. Plus think about the Pokémon that rely on the day/night system, whether it be for evolution, attacking you in the wild or in Clefairy's case, dancing around a rock. There's too much to lose from taking it out, and I can't see a reason for doing such a thing either.

Kazukii July 17th, 2009 10:51 AM

I very much doubt they'll change it. So many Pokemon rely on the night. There will be anger if it's changed.

Oblivion Reaper 2.0 July 17th, 2009 10:55 AM

Gold and Silver first used day/night so that would be stupid not put it in...

XxDawnfanxX July 17th, 2009 11:00 AM

It will be in it, you can bank on it. There might be some screenshots with night showing, but having Night/Day starting in the original G/S and continuing through all the games since, it will be there. :)

Sweet Smoochum July 17th, 2009 11:03 AM

Hasn't anyone noticed the different shades in Ilex forest? One screenshot is bright and the other one is darker. I think the day/night system is back. They just took a lot pictures early in the day to use for the magazine. They use Fly and take a picture in an area, then Fly somewhere else, and take a picture.

salmence33 July 17th, 2009 11:20 AM

it has to be there since G/S had it, and it is also after a game that had that feature

Momoko July 17th, 2009 11:39 AM

Now that I think about it, there havent been any screenies of the day/night system, or even just night O__O
But then again, why would they not? It was In Gold and D/P/Pt, which is the base/engine whatever you want to call it for the game.

I'm sure it will be. I mean it's on the DS which has a real time clock. So it's safe to assume it will have day and night.

I guess that would be more to do with marketing than anything. Daytime screenshots look a lot more colourful and appealing than night time shots, and they're probably a lot clearer for use in magazines as well.

If/when Nintendo decides to point out day and night as a feature, I'm sure we'll get some nice comparison screenshots. :)

Translation:

Day Night system will not in Pocket Monsters Heart Gold and Silver Soul. Moon Sun colour environment and day time night cycle replace with Apple Picking. We is expect players to pick apple every day, rest of our life. It be great fun and recreation and apple can then be transfer to Poketmonste-Walker.

Sorry for my bad english above, its hard to directly translate from Japanese to English.

OMG! This is the best ting ever! I love apple picking! It's one of my favorite all time hobbies! This is just awesome! I love picking apples every day and night. Now, we can pick apple without it being day or night in HGSS. Thank you for the most incredible news I've ever heard. This is better than the whole Pokemon following thing! Thank you for gracing my eyes with this wonderful news! Thank you! :D

Apple picking is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than having the Day/Night system return! :D

Spoiler:
If you believed everything I just said, you're the stupidest person ever. Give yourself a hug.

Hey. There are impressionable youth here.

阿Jen July 18th, 2009 8:12 PM

It should be in the game.
You have nothing worry about.

yea probably because its a crystal remake

xxChazxx July 18th, 2009 9:54 PM

Not having day-to-night transitions would be unacceptable. They were in G/S/C, and also in D/P/Pl. The fact that they were not ing R/S/E is really surprising.

bobandbill July 18th, 2009 10:08 PM

I don't think we really need this thread anymore - it's basically a given that the Day-Night feature is returning, and I don't see anything else that should be said on that, given all of these replies. (And given shots which show lanturns and a darker overworld, we already know this anyways, really).
