Your WEI is..
So I was wondering, what is your WEI (Windows Experience Index) rating in Vista/Seven?
How to find:
|
I am only on my laptop :/
But its is 4.3. |
Quick question. Is this on XP or no?

Mine is..meh. Processor: 4.5 Memory: 4.6 Graphics (For Aero): 3.6 Gaming Graphics: 5.2 HDD: 3.9 (It was a 4.1 the first time I installed Seven..) Total score: 3.6 My old computer's score was 1.0. |
No, this isn't in Windows XP. Obsolete and depreciated OS's don't tend to have features relevant to today's users.
5.9 in Vista, 7.3 in Windows 7 |
My laptop (the only system running Vista) gets a 5.0. The bottleneck is apparently the graphics card (GeForce 9500M; it was the best available when I bought it). Other relevant scores are 5.4, 5.1, 5.3, and 5.4 (processor, RAM, gaming graphics, primary hard disk).
I honestly don't take much stock in the index number. If I wanted to actually test my performance, I'd get the 3DMark score or something like that. I don't really care enough, though; all I care is that it runs, and that it runs fast (which it does). |
Haha, my laptop's graphics card is terrible, but everything else is okay. Funny how they call this thing a 'special edition entertainment PC'. Silly HP. This thing's about 2 1/2 years old now, by the way.
Processor: 4.7 Memory: 5.3 Graphics: 2.8 Gaming Graphics: 2.4 Primary Hard Disk: 4.7 Base Score: 2.4 |
Hmm, Interesting XD
Mine is 3.2 |
I run an OS that DOESN'T NEED THIS "RATING" TO WORK CORRECTLY.

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P7350 @ 2.00GHz 4.9
Memory (RAM) 2.00 GB 5.3 Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9200M GS 3.3 Gaming graphics 1278 MB Total available graphics memory 4.6 Primary hard disk 171GB Free (288GB Total) 5.2 Final result: 3.3 Determined by lowest subscore |
No real surprise here, Windows 7 contained within VMware Virtual Machine.
http://www.pokecommunity.com/picture.php?albumid=2076&pictureid=28891 Bear in mind Ive limited this VM to use only one of my 2 CPU cores, leaves the second for other tasks. Ask me again in November after I've gotten the Boot Camp Software v3.0 and Snow Leopard. (I really wait mainly for BC3.0 because it includes the support necessary for windows to read/write to my HFS+ main partition, I could do that now, but I don't feel like shelling out a $70 for the MacDrive 7 software that I'll be getting free with SL) |
Processor: 4.3
Memory (RAM): 4.9 Graphics: 3.5 Gaming Graphics: 3.5 Primary Hard Disk: 5.2 Base Score: 3.5 Not bad, I purchased this laptop for only $350, and I really haven't had any crashing.... |

There's your answer for my laptop. Not so great, considering I planned on eventually gaming on this thing (although nothing hardcore). |

On my laptop. My desktop is like a 3.2 now from the integrated graphics. :[ If I had bought a dedicated card it would probably be around 4.7 I think. On my Windows 7 installation my laptop scores 5.7. |
Oh yay, a 4.1
Processor AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ 4.1 Memory (RAM) 2.00 GB 4.9 Graphics Radeon X1600 Series (Microsoft Corporation -WDDM) 4.4 Gaming graphics 671 MB Total available graphics memory 4.8 Primary hard disk 40GB Free (114GB Total) 5.0 Windows Vista (TM) Ultimate I feel so proud of my PC. Is this thing 1-5 or 1-10? |
No, WEI rates the hardware components listed on a scale of 1.0 to (I think) 5.9 in Windows Vista and 1.0 to 7.9 in Windows 7.

I run full Aero on my desktop which scores 3.2.

Here's how the scoring works for it (source). Processor: based on performance doing various processing-intensive tasks Memory: based on memory bandwidth with the following exceptions; less than 256 MB caps score at 1.0, less than 500 MB caps score at 2.0, less than 512 MB caps score at 2.9, less than 704 MB caps score at 3.5, less than 960 MB caps score at 3.9, less than 1.5 GB caps score at 4.5 (you really should have at least 2 GB of RAM if you want your computer to run fast and handle the tough stuff) Graphics: measures video memory bandwidth with the following exceptions; DX9 not supported caps score at 1.0, no WDDM driver caps score at 1.9 Gaming: measures frames per second graphics card can handle for various textures with the following exceptions; no D3D 9 support caps score at 1.0, no Pixel Shader 3.0 support caps score at 4.9, DX9 support and WDDM driver gets at least a 2.0 score Disk: based on disk bandwidth; all modern drives should score at least 2.0 I dislike it as a benchmarking tool for various reasons, but most prominent is the caps it sets on scores. While these problems are important, they should be noted separately; a true benchmark would still measure performance even if, say, the card didn't have a WDDM driver or only 1 GB of memory was present. Just a personal beef I guess. It still has its uses, I just prefer other benchmarking software. |
Component Details Subscore Base score
Processor AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ 5.4 Memory (RAM) 3.00 GB 5.9 Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 3.6 Gaming graphics 1343 MB Total available graphics memory 3.0 Primary hard disk 19GB Free (457GB Total) 5.8 So 3.0 by lowest sub-score. |
Yeah, I got around to booting Windows... And it's not pretty. I have integrated graphics and my laptop is several years old, so it's not too bad considering:
http://i26.*.com/28ioyna.png I might try to up the amount of Ram dedicated to graphics, once I move up to 2GB ram. That's the maximum for my Motherboard, btw. I also have absolutely no issues with Aero. |
Personally I think it makes more sense to average scores... but anyway on my laptop:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8400 @ 2.26GHz [5.2] Memory (RAM): 4.00 GB [5.9] Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 [4.0] Gaming graphics: 2047 MB Total available graphics memory [4.1] Primary hard disk: 5GB Free (49GB Total) [5.3] Base score: 4.0 Windows Vista Business I've never been too fussed with the score, it does what I want and more. |
Processor: 4.7
Memory: 4.2 Graphics: 4.3 Gaming graphics: 3.8 Hard disk: 5.1 Base score is 3.8, but I don't use my laptop for gaming anyway. Without the gaming graphics score it's 4.2. My averages with and without the 3.8 are 4.42 and 4.575. |

Can you see what I mean? It would suit me nicely, but it's like that for a reason. |

Not that WEI is that great of a benchmark anyway. |
