The Tweaking Discussion Thread

Welcome to the tweaking thread!

Hello, tweakers of Diamond and Pearl! This thread is here for those who enjoy tweaking!

Tweaking is basicly keeping the DS from keeping up with you and not loading some graphics\maps\movement areas, or any other material. It was discovered by some guy called Holepuncher, and it became in useful use by Auburn, who created website called 'Hall of Origin'

Tweaking is used mostly to enter Voids, which is mostly used to catch event legendary Pokémon or reach some places before usual like Turnback Cave.

In the void, there is a place called Fake-Sinnoh. You ride on top of simply, anything. Tweakers use this method to go to Newmoon Island or Seabreak Path.

A void is the 'black' outside of a building movements limits. The black areas activated by tweaking are not exactly voids, more like abyss voids, which are maps without their original graphics, and they can be walkable almost anywhere, but they cannot give you acess to areas outside of the 32x32 step limit. That's why they are only tools to enter the real voids.

Void Explorers are people who discover new areas in the void after entering it. They do not just use what has been discovered, but they do their own discoveries.

Void Explorer Auburneye has discovered the ways to catch Darkrai, Giratina early in-game and Shaymin. The hunt is currently aiming Arceus, but he's almost done to find the way.

A tweaker's dictionary

BSoD: Black Screen of Doom. The screen goes black and is unfixable.
Blackout: The screen goes black, but is fixable by opening the menu and any category in a safe place.
FS: Fake Sinnoh (The overloaded graphics one. :D)
NFS: North Fake Sinnoh (Shaymin's)
NNFS: North North Fake Sinnoh
NNNFS: North North North Fake Sinnoh
WFS: West Fake Sinnoh
Void: The 'black' outside of a building movements limits.
Abyss Voids: The black areas activated by tweaking, which are maps without their original graphics and permissions.
Void Explorers: They are people who discover new areas in the void after entering it.
Tweaking: Overlaoding the Nintendo DS to display maps incorrectly.

Rules

*Talk only about voids, tweaking, void exploring, etc...
*This thread is under D\P\Pl Tweaking. HG\SS does not need a thread right now... Please refrain from creating a thread for them...
*DS, DS lite AND DSi all work in tweaking, as I tweaked in my DS lite. It was rumored that the DSi may not work because it has higher performance, but it really does.
*Do not talk about Action Replay unless it was used to determine tweaking areas, help in entering the void if a mistake happens, etc. Using is for escaping from things that are supposed to happen is a no, Cheats to reach the Pokémon or Arceus is a no. Pokésav = the same.

Just go to Hall of Origin. The current "thing" is getting Arceus. Just so you people know. Be right back.

Necessary to Have:
Bicycle
Explorer Kit
Poketch Step Counter
Pokeballs of Choice

Recommended to Have:
Teleport/Fly
Escape Rope/Dig

Note: It is not necessary to have all 8 badges or the National Dex, but you do need to have used the Explorer Kit at least once before starting this glitch. It's also recommended to pick up the pal pad from the Pokemon Center first.

Above is a visual representation of the exact tweaking area in Jubilife City. All "x"s are normal spaces. The "O" is the light post found northeast of the city, right next to the condominiums. The building itself is here represented as "l"s. The numbers 1,2,3,4 are the places you will be preforming the tweaking pattern.

The Pattern:

Ride the bicycle at high speed, and come up from the bottom heading straight for square "1". Follow the pattern 1,2,3,4,1,4,1 - and continue riding west to check if the right abyss[black area] former. You will know when the right abyss opened if you see a black area you can enter, with grass in it, in the middle of Jubilife City.

The Void

Entering The Void:

Now that you have the right abyss open follow the next part very carefully to enter the Void. Position your character right in front of the abyss, but not in it. Also, place your character over the top white line of the street in such a way that the line seems to go right through his body.

From this exact spot, go 20 steps West, 10 steps North, 5 Steps East, and 3 steps South. Then pop open the menu, open any category, and close it again. You should now see the regular Jubilife City graphics, and you should be trapped inside of the Poketch building.

Press the down button "once" and you should enter the Poketch building from the opposite side of the door. Now save your game here without taking another step. If for some reason you wish to exit the void, you can always slip back inside the Poketch building from this save point.

Head down one step, then East five steps. You should be just a little past the Poketch building's graphics. Now head North for 430 steps until you reach a place labeled Jubilife City.

Now access your bicycle, but have the explorer kit on y-register. Reset your step counter, then save the game and soft reset.

Shaymin Path

If you are going for Shaymin, head East about 870 steps and then North for about 64,500 steps. This part should take about 72 minutes. You can use tape or a heavy item to hold down the direction pad for you instead of holding it yourself.

You'll first arrive at Fake-Sinnoh at the bottom of Sunnyshore City. Keep going straight up to Seabreak Path. The path should look white. Ride inside the white path until you arrive at a Jubilife City area. Press "Y" to use the kit WITHOUT popping up the menu. When you reboot you should be in the real Seabreak Path. Pop up the menu and open any category to reload the graphics and head over to your Shaymin! http://i42.tinypic.com/wajz47.jpg

Darkrai Path

If you are going for Darkrai instead, head West instead of East after saving with the kit at Jubilife City. Go West for 65,400 steps, then North for about 64,840 steps. Towards the end of the last 64,840 steps, you'll see fake-Sinnoh. Keep heading up, and you'll find Newmoon Island. If the island is a Jubilife City area, then place yourself somewhere safe on the island and save, then reboot. Pop up the menu and open any category to reload the graphics and head over to your Darkrai! http://i42.tinypic.com/wajz47.jpg

Sometimes, you have to save. Like if you get to that Jublife City after Turnback Cave, to get Darkrai and such. Besides though, the void is always different. I am willing to say different every game, but not every save. However, there is no proof to this, and it probably would not alter it too much.

*u* That's awesome. I want to try this sometime but I don't want to risk my pearl version. D;

The worst that I have seen happen is the loss of a current save game.

jolteon. July 24th, 2009 9:32 PM

That's what I meant.

I have too much on my pearl version to just risk. I might try the thing with the Japanese versions (surfing through elite four door, etc)

Have fun getting a japanese version from that long ago...

jolteon. July 24th, 2009 9:41 PM

I have one. :3
I think. @[email protected]; I picked it up at the flea market a while ago. I'm just too lazy to beat it.

Well, good luck. You could try tweaking on that too, after all, the void is mostly the same transitioning from Japanese to English.

jolteon. July 24th, 2009 11:32 PM

Alright. I'll try beating it up to the point of tehe Elite Four part, and try out the E4 one. If that fails, I'll try the jubilife one.

Both entrances are different though. I say, if I could, I would explore both.

NatureKeeper July 26th, 2009 1:13 AM

Good luck, because I know nothing about no Surf Glitch except how to Surf in Aaron's door. The Jubilife void is harder but safer.

LethalTexture July 26th, 2009 5:02 AM

On my way to Darkrai now. =]

Careful, sometimes the game data is different, and so sometimes you can get the Black screen when you are right there.

I thinks thats what he meant. Also, no void is safe, if you make one wrong step, it could destroy your save! Heck, sometimes even if you don't screw up, as said above, it could still be destroyed.

LethalTexture July 26th, 2009 7:52 AM

I'm following the printable guide you posted up there, and I'm just coming upto the end of the 65,400 steps West. So with any luck I should make it.

NatureKeeper July 26th, 2009 8:51 AM

Good Luck, This will take about 3 hours. Really, I wish you luck, Horizon.

LethalTexture July 26th, 2009 10:41 AM

I'm going to do it again tomorrow. I got there, but like an idiot I went to the wrong island. ;;

I did get to Darkrai's island, but I thought it was Cress' and went to the other one. I feel like such an idiot. ;;

But like I say, tomorrow.

§1 July 26th, 2009 12:39 PM

i might try this after i get soul silver, and transfer everything i wanna keep over to it...

I dun blame you. If ANYTHING goes wrong, BAM! There goes your save data. You could try a different version.. Not platinum of course.

Here's a platinum thing:

Go away!

Alright, so we know we can get into the void in Pokemon Platinum, but we can't get out of the initial void (in this case, I'll be using the Poketch Co. as an example). This means that we can get into the void by going downward, but we can't go anywhere else, i.e. Jubilife T.V., Turnback Cave, etc., because of the webs.

Web: A space in the void where, if walked into, you can walk neither up, down, left, or right.

Through a little bit of testing, I've found that there are webs all along the top of and to the left of the Poketch Co. building, and there are no webs to the right of or below the Poketch Co. building. However, one very notable thing about the Poketch Co. initial void is that it has a Mystery Zone just before the webs on the left wall, all the way at the bottom. This Mystery Zone has, going from right to left, 9 walkable tiles, 1 surfable tile, then 17 walkable tiles, which then you come to an invisible wall (not a web), and you cannot walk upwards while in the Mystery Zone, except when you are at the very right, to enter the Poketch Void from where you entered the Mystery Zone.

However, I have found a way to bypass the webs on the left, finding that the Poketch Co. void spans exactly 63 tiles horizontally. First, you need to go to the Mystery Zone, which is, from the doorway of the Poketch Co., 1 step South, 17 steps West, 18 steps South. Now you should be in the aforementioned Mystery Zone. Now, to go above the Mystery Zone, or get past the western wall of webs, go 1 step North from the Mystery Zone, open your Pokedex/Pokemon/Bag/Trainer Case/Options/Town Map, go 1 step South, 1 step West, and you should now be able to go 1 step North. Congrats, you've now bypassed the wall of webs to the left of the Poketch Co. building. However, there are still webs on top of the Poketch Co. bulding and you've now created a wall of webs to the right of your location (where the previous webs were).

Now, all we need to do is find a way to either open the Pokedex, etc. somewhere that will open up a pathway exiting the initial void, or, what this thread is about, Tweak the void to get past the walls/webs.

Any questions, comments, or whatever, just post here.

I'm going to say this to everyone, BE CAREFUl. Even if you make ABSOLUTELY no mistakes, you could still end up with a screwed up game.

If you make ONE mistake, say goodbye to your save.

EDIT: This could be a very good topic, this could be stickied if a mod finds it good enough (Horizon), lol.

YanmegaLv55 July 26th, 2009 11:53 PM

Even though if you have cheats you go to Route 224 and head forward at the white rock with the walk through things cheat and you'll be on seabreak path to get Shaymin.Get the Nat. Pokedex and go to the island where cresselia is. Head exactly right and you'll catch a Darkrai. This will not let you go in to the Harbor Inn.

Everyone knows this... This is for people who do not like use AR, or have the money.

LethalTexture July 27th, 2009 1:47 PM

Well, I got to and caught Darkrai; check out the album for picture proof.
