Introduction

First of all, I am restarting my hack, but I'm actually working as
hard as I can this time. Secondly, I'm actually using a Fire Red ROM now.
Please leave constructive criticism.

Plot


Okay, you heard it before, you're gonna hear it again. Team Flora is
a bunch of "Pokemon Gangstas" (Like Team Rocket), and they want
to dominate the world (Like Team Rocket), except with Grass Pokemon
and the fact that they want the world to be lush with vegetation,

You're some kid in the town of Lushville, where a great Evergreen stands.
No one knows how or why it is there, they just like to gaze at it. Apparently
it has a hole shaped like a distinct stone that is found somewhere in the
Delta region. Today is a random day that is NOT your birthday, but Professor PINE's, and he wants to celebrate by giving you and your friend each a Pokemon, choices are Leefin, Wateddy, and Firoy. Of course, the younger picks first, and you happen to be a day younger than your friend, both of you pick your Pokemon and your friend rushes out the door. When you go out, you hear a familiar cry for HELP, and realize it is your friend's, and you see two Flora Rookies, who are trying to steal your friend's Pokemon, and you battle them and realize that you have to defeat them while collecting the eight badges (aka,
fulfilling your dream).

Team Flora's Leader is Frankie, and their two admins are Vinnie and Cynthia. They want to search for the two Emera-gems, the Jade and the Pedriot, to put into the two mystical trees, one which is located in your hometown, and the other elsewhere. They sent the two rookies to Lushville just to check out the mystical tree.

GYM Leaders:
1. Doug - Ground (as in Dug)
2. Zach - Electric (as in Zap)
3. Grace - Grass (as in Grass)
4. Kenneth - Bug (as in Net)
5. Walter - Water (as in Water)
6. Frieza - Ice (as in Freeze)
7. Cassidy - Poison (as in Acid)
8. James - Fire (as in Flames)

Elite 4:
1. Ariel - Flying (as in Aerial)
2. Tyrone - Rock (as in Stone)
3. Stephane - Ghost (as in Phantom)
4. Kendra - Dragon (as in Dragon)

Champion: Steve (random name, random type)

New items:
Potion > Orangy Juicy
Super Potion > Apply Juicy
Hyper Potion > Grapy Juicy
Max Potion > Berry Juicy
Full Restore > Blendy Juicy

Some berries will be changed as well.

I've already learned to do a decent amount of scripting, and my spriting's decent (I think).
My mapping is also improving fast.

This way, I will have more time to sprite, rather than think.


Okay, Here's my plan:
1. Finish Mapping, Scripting, anything that has to do with maps. (trainers, etc.) for the entire game
2. Finish spriting the whole "Kanto" Pokemon and their evos
3. Do some sprites and icons every so often
4. Finish all Pokemon Sprites
5. ICON (darn)

And Also, I won't be changing spearow and fearow in the first ALPHA.

Umm.... this section is not for asking for names/ ideas.
You need to work on the story more, make it more interesting, so it can hook up people who need a good hack.

This happens because you haven't defined any script editor to work with a-map. I'll explain how to fix this:
open "a-map", go to "settings" > "Choose script editor" and choose whatever script editor you use. ;)

I might need a little help with mapping, but not right now. The only thing I need help in is scripting for just the beginning. Spriting, I could do that, but the progress would go much slower if it was just me, so maybe spriting.

Well I'll definitely help in those areas. I just know that working alone can sometimes cause for very slow progress, and usually an unsuccessful hack.

Anyways I had an idea. These fakemon are really good, so why not go ahead and replace the entire pokedex? I can give you some if you want, and we could just replace the whole thing.

What??? You're gonna have to put a LOT more effort to make a Pokemon! Put more effort in it! Here's where your problems are.

1. Use some random colour
2. Not facing Pokemon
3. No shading

But if you were making a real animal, that'd be really good if you added shading.

If you're good at it, why don't you make OW's?

No. Better basic idea, more appealing name. New tiles isn't necessary.

Thats the problems of a hack, and if you got lazy, you will never finish this.
Ok, this was harsh, but its the truth.

Maybe you started out a hack too early, why don't you learn advancing hacking? Select a hacking skill, and go serious with it. I selected mapping.

Sprite Above: Er...please make the sprite face southwest because it looks very 2d if you ask me.

It looks okay, but I REALLY Suggest putting real Pokemon in too; unless you're REALLY imaginative, making 386 Fakemon is near impossible.

To be frank, the fakemons are really weird, they need more shading, and each one with a special idea. The fakemons i see in the screenshots are simple and like 2-d, and that is really bad.

Yeah, when I compared my Fakemon to the real Pokemon, they looked really stupid. So after a while I'm going to fix those.

I'm going to change the fire starter into another Pokemon, this is because the fire starter right now sucks.

Your sprites could use some work, especially with shading. If you haven't already then I suggest making a thread for them so others can help. But with the shading think of where the light is coming from. In pokemon games it comes from the top left. So the lighter shades should be towards the light and so on. And lastly try to round the shading. On the second fakemon the shading is in straight lines which isn't how it should be for this case.

But right now I'm working on spriting, since Scripts and maps are practically done.

That magnet thing was actually a fire-steel type, I mean drawing it on paper was too easy, but then spriting it is harder.

seriously, we don't just want to hear the criticism, we want to hear how to make it better.

Exactly. And there are nicer ways to put it. I want to give you more criticism but I can't point out any more of the problems. It's one of those things where I know they're there I just can't figure them out specifically. Try the Spriters Showcase/Discussion thread. They might be able to help you.

You could recolor the rattata and then insert it into the game. But that would change all the Rattata's. Is that what you want?

Because I made my original Rabit (rattata) from Raticate's pallete, because that's how it was planned on my paperwork.
Then I tryed to insert it into UNLZ GBA, with Raticate's Pallete offset, but it just screwed up.

I was also wondering if there was anyway to change the pallete of a Pokemon, let's say, that Paper Mario Redux, how can people change the pallete of a Pokemon? (because Mario has blue, goomba has brown, etc)

Added a new video, about the Team Flora Event that is happening in SPOOKY WOODS CAVE. There was something I didn't fix at the end, such as the Person ID, and a msgbox. But enjoy!

This video also means that my Beta/Alpha/Whatever it is is coming soon! :) Just need to:

1. Investigate and fix why my hidesprite 0x7 is not working
2. Sprite 10 more battle pics and 11 more backsprites
3. Icon (darnit) 32 more Icon frames.

Your Scripts are cool, but you could try improving your Maps, as they look quite empty. And in case you haven't realized, you forgot to change "Team Rocket Goon" to "Team Flora Goon". And by the way, your Fakemon are kinda cool too. Good luck with this, Qwerty.

I've got some help for you...

1. In the hidesprite script, you have a setflag so that the event doesn't repeat itself, right? Change the person ID of whoever you're hiding to the number of the flag you've set. This also works for making people in a certain area appear or disappear. You could have somebody blocking the road, set their person ID to 801, and when you come back through with the first badge they should be gone! Or, set a flag early on and have people with that person ID. They'll be invisible until you clear the flag.

2. You can edit pallets with APE (Advanced Pallet Editor) but you should be able to just click the little box in unLZ that says "Import Pallet". Be sure you have the boxes "Automatically Fix Pointers" and "Abort if not enough room" checked as well, or you could really screw your ROM. Oh, and the first color in your pallet is always the background color.

3. The problem with the sprites isn't the shading, it's the sprites themselves. They're a little... poorly drawn. The second evo of the fire starter is great, except for where you tried to make his legs crossed. You should've just had him standing with them kind of spread.

2. You can edit pallets with APE (Advanced Pallet Editor) but you should be able to just click the little box in unLZ that says "Import Pallet". Be sure you have the boxes "Automatically Fix Pointers" and "Abort if not enough room" checked as well, or you could really screw your ROM. Oh, and the first color in your pallet is always the background color.

3. The problem with the sprites isn't the shading, it's the sprites themselves. They're a little... poorly drawn. The second evo of the fire starter is great, except for where you tried to make his legs crossed. You shouldn've just had him standing with them kind of spread.

2. I'm probably not gonna do any of that for a while. I tried something off another Tutorial, and my game froze everytime I went to that Pokemon!

3. Yeah, I know they aren't the best, but I'm trying my best (or just not putting enough effort in). But they're not the worst either.

Yes, just clear the flag. Are you wanting him to reappear in the same place, using the same sprite? Also, are you going to give the player freedom to move after making him reappear? Because clearing the flag would make it possible for the previous event in which he disappeared happen again... IMO you're better off using two sprites of him. Just set an extra flag early especially for this, set it to the second one's person ID, and then clear it to make the second Gary appear.

No, I'll test it out, because I only the Gary2 to appear in a script. (Cry for Help) So it shouldn't be that hard.

EDIT: Wow! Thanks, it actually worked, I just used a useless flag and it worked.

Now only few more things:

Minor: Something messed with tiles in LUSHVILLE, Team Flora Stuff, and the Gym.

Yes! Updated some new sprites, now only have 5 back sprites and 3 front sprites to go!
Oh yeah, does anyone know how to insert icons by using wordpad and paint, because it just takes too long to edit the icons in icon editor.
Also, my game won't "boot up."
Everytime I open up my rom in VBA, it goes to a blank screen, does anyone know why?

the grass pokmon made me laugh in a good way his dance was funny the magnic pokmon was by far your best and your worst would be the water starter it looks like a copy of the grass starter and is it a water bear I cant rele tel what animal it is :P if you need any help with fakemon spriting give me a PM I also made my share of fakemon :D over all looks pretty good maps could be better but there okay so not a big problem

Also, does anyone know how to add a poll? because I somehow cannot and it is very crucial to my first release. The question is:

Should I do the Icons?
1. Yes, it makes the game feel more like a Pokemon game. Make the icons as you release.
2. No, it takes too long, maybe later. Make the icons after all your sprites, etc.
3. You know, there is a way to do it with paint (please post).

Oh People, I forgot to tell you. Here are the instructions:
1. Open up an unmodified original rom
2. Wait till it boots (to like the copyright thing)
3. Ctrl + S (Save)
4. Copy the SGM file to the folder with my hack
5. Boot up, should have a white screen, then Ctrl +L (Load), and use the SGM file you copied.

And hahaha, there are lots of hilarious text, it makes me, laugh, a lot! :P :)Anyways, I still think you should revamp the First Town, although the scripts are pretty well scripted. The Hero OW is well sprited too. And by the way, I have some bugs to report:
Pic 1: Some bits of another script is in the Intro.
Pic 2: Tile Error
Pic 3: I don't think the text is finished in the "I love" part.
Pic 4: The "H" in "Have" is missing.
Pic 5: The "T" in "Team Flora" isn't starting with a captial letter. I have a bit more to report, but I'll wait until you'll post.

Oh jeez, those fakemon hacks with ugly fakemon...

Yeah, sorry, the fakemon don't look too well, but the movesets seem well made, and at least I have seen a fakemon game with a bunch of decent scripts. And that glitch is a common glitch when you turn into another player, I'm not sure how to fix it, but I hope you fixed it already. Good luck with the hack.

And btw, nice name :P

I'd rather it be all the Pokemon changed to Fakemon, one reason is because I will have to put more effort into it, and another is because I want it to be like quartz. (Without the swears)
