Safari Zone Thread!
Ok so now we know that the safari zone will be in jhoto talk about what you think it will be like and do you think the safari zone in kanto will be open, maybe they will but different pokemon in each safari zone? what pokemon do you think will be avalible, maybe we wont be able to go here untill after we get the national dex or maybe more pokemon will be available after we get the national dex (like in emerald).
The safari zone is located here in johto: http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/1828/37654609.png |
Yay! You opened a thread about the Safari Zone!
Can't wait! |
Since the Safari Zone is in Johto, I imagine we'll be able to go there before the Elite Four. But I also like the idea of having some new Pokemon become available after we get the National Dex. Somehow I doubt we'll have access to Kanto's Safari Zone. It wasn't available in the original G/S/C, and it seems a bit redundant to have two Safari Zones.
|
Maybe this Safari Zone is where the warden went on vacation to.
|
Safari zone?> Nice, finnaly in johto, maybe we can catch bulbasaur?

I'dd add though, for those who don't know, that the Warden set up the Bug Catching Competition in GSC as well (and since it's back in HG/SS as well...). One can find that out by reading one of the signs in the National Park - the phrase "THE WARDEN" ("...'s office", from memory, is tacked on)' is mentioned at the end of the sign's message. |
A lot of people were speculatiing that Kanto's Safari Zone would be a new Pal Park. I think this idea has been scrapped, due to the fact that the new DSi doesn't have a GBA slot.
I think the Safari Zone has just moved to Johto, although I don't rule out something new being in place of Kanto's Safari Zone. |
What would be cool is if they expanded the zoo in Kanto to take over where the Safari zone was, They could really utilize all the new pokemon overworlds there.

I think it's nice the Safari Zone's back, as I like the Bug Catching contest a lot, but it's a bit restrictive on what can be caught and I hate the Great Marsh. |
Since the new Safari Zone is separated into 6 distinct biomes(by the look of it) maybe it will be easier to find a pokemon of a certain type. For instance, the rock pokemon would be in the rocky area, water pokemon would be in the water(of course), the fire would be in a volcano area etc..
|
I'm really glad HG/SS have a Safari Zone, although I would've preferred if the one in Kanto was reopened. At least it makes Johto a bit larger.
|
I never would've guessed that, that place was the Safari Zone or that it was brought to Johto. Whatever they do with it, I'm sure that it'll be awesome.
|
I'm glad that there's a Safari Zone in Johto, but it doesn't mean that there won't be one in Kanto. I'm thinking that pre-Elite Four/some other activity, it'll just have rarer Johto Pokemon not found anywhere else. But post-Elite Four, like the Great Marsh, will bring in other world Pokemon. And the Kanto Safari Zone will be the same concept as that.
|
I'm thinking the new safari zone will be a place for some Hoenn pokemon to become available, agains because the DSi doesn't have a GBA slot. It could be something else though. Maybe we won't have to wait to get pikachu and houndour xD
Well, whatever it is, it should be really cool. That place looks big. |
When was this confirmed? I haven't heard of this yet but it is cool news. Could someone link me to the info please?

Since it looks like 6 different areas, I better not see the same Pokemon in every area, or I'm going to blow a fuse >=[

Wow, when I first found out about this I was just so happy, it always annoyed the heck out of me that I couldn't go to the Safari Zone in GSC... I also like the idea of expanding the zoo to take over the old Zone.
|
Like the original material, the Safari Zone will be in Johto, it would be completely pointless adding two, when all the exclusives can be in one place.
|
I'm trying to find a logical explanation for reopening the old one as a Safari Zone, but there doesn't seem to be one thought that I can't contradict myself.
I'd like to see it do something, though. Here's hoping Cerulean Cave still returns. |
Hopefully larvitar and other johto pokemon that are unavailable before the elite four in g/s/c will be in the safari zone
|
Instead of having the Safari Park in Kanto, why couldn't they replace it with a zoo, then that could as part of a sub-plot (Pokemon got stolen, give us the pokemon we need). That would be good. :l

I like new Safari Zone, but that means Kanto doesn't have... I hope that you can catch much different pokémon from there.
|
I find it very odd that you can customize the safari zone, and decide where each pokemon shows up. They are taking the fun out of it!
|
This is quite interesting. I was hoping that the Kanto one would re-open so it would give it a better, more in depth plot but now that there is one in Johto one can't complain. As long as there is one in the first place, I will be very happy.
|
It does seem interesting. Hopefully the old Safari have something new to offer us in place.
|
^ Serebii posted the info yesterday
It's an odd feature. I don't know what to make of it. |
What to do with the kanto space?????

The idea of moving the Safari Zone to Johto, in a way, moves along with the story of what was told in the original Gold and Silver. It was said that the Warden of Fuschia City's Safari Zone had moved, and with him moving the Safari Zone moved along too. So, this basically uncovers that the Warden had moved to Johto and opened up the new Safari Zone here as well. Of course the new customization feature was unexpected, but in a way, once we get a hold of it, the idea may be well worth it. The customization of the six areas is to allow us to get to each area faster without wasting out step count. So, I think that was a great idea for the players and with each new area means there will be different Pokémon in each one.
The Safari Zone being back, even if not in its original location still allows the game to hold more of the new generation Pokémon from Hoenn and maybe Sinnoh as well. It'll be a known location to also capture the new Pokémon after the Post National Dex, so it will be a useful area like it normally is. For one, I'm just glad it is back, because it is a very well known area for the most part [and helpful too]. |
The Safari zone
it was being said that the safari zone will have a special customization feature,so will it be like advance map for the 3rd gen games or what?
|

Question is a tad confusing as well... like the advance map in 3rd gen? =/ Elaborate more on what you mean, please... |
Maybe some sinnoh pokemon will be there? Or hopefully Kanto pokemon.

I'm hoping this is where they'll stick Houndour, Murkrow and Slugma in Johto.
And the customization aspect is what really interests me. I wonder if it will alter the Pokemon available in certain sections. |

The safari zone feature seem a little complicated, but cool.
Maybe there is Pal Park in Kanto. |

But on a different/similar topic. What do you think the special area outside of the Safari Zone will be for? So far, t looks like there are a few stalls and a very stunning arch with a Safari Ball on it. |
A lot of people, because the customization feature for the Safari Zone is something new to the fans seem to be lost. However, when the news on the Safari Zone was released it was only brushed upon briefly, leaving others questioning on why it was moved and how it will work out with the new feature included. Though, Pokémon's average fanbase age is six to twelve, so Game Freak wouldn't over complicate the games for the younger minds as it wouldn't be able to decipher something overly complex. Because the customization feature is new, many fans have been over thinking the whole idea and being left confused with just the slight information known about it. However, I wouldn't be surprised to find it easier than it looks. Contests was a new feature before leaving many players confused on how it may work when little was known, but at the end, the process of it was found to be much easier than thought of before. So, my idea is that the new Safari Zone will be a lot easier to manage with its new features such as the customization of each area than what is thought of now.
|
This feature seems weird but cool. :) I'm not sure if they are going to make a pal park in Johto or Kanto?
|
Yeah, Pokemon games have never been super-complicated (okay, not counting competitive battling stuff, because kids don't even touch that part of the games anyway), so I really doubt they'll make it more customizable beyond "move areas around to let you reach them faster." If it's open the first time you go to Cianwood City, I agree, it'd be a great place to put Misdreavus, Slugma, Larvitar, Houndour, etc, plus probably some of the rare Kanto Pokemon as well, since there truly aren't enough Johto Pokemon that a lot of families could be dedicated solely to the Safari Zone.
|
I think the Safari Zone will have Pokémon from other regions and possible be used to transfer Pokémon from the Third Generation games.
|

The Safari Zone will be just like any other Safari Zone. Probably a lot like D/P/Pt where there are certain Pokemon before the E4 than more after. |
