This is quite interesting. I was hoping that the Kanto one would re-open so it would give it a better, more in depth plot but now that there is one in Johto one can't complain. As long as there is one in the first place, I will be very happy.

JawKam August 10th, 2009 2:00 AM

It does seem interesting. Hopefully the old Safari have something new to offer us in place.

^ Serebii posted the info yesterday

It's an odd feature. I don't know what to make of it.

Team Rocket is gonna use it for a new baseball diamond. They play there all day, but use Voltorbs as baseballs, so you need to stop them. Random thought, yes, but it would be fun :)

I know, I mean the same as your idea and was just adapting.

The idea of moving the Safari Zone to Johto, in a way, moves along with the story of what was told in the original Gold and Silver. It was said that the Warden of Fuschia City's Safari Zone had moved, and with him moving the Safari Zone moved along too. So, this basically uncovers that the Warden had moved to Johto and opened up the new Safari Zone here as well. Of course the new customization feature was unexpected, but in a way, once we get a hold of it, the idea may be well worth it. The customization of the six areas is to allow us to get to each area faster without wasting out step count. So, I think that was a great idea for the players and with each new area means there will be different Pokémon in each one.

The Safari Zone being back, even if not in its original location still allows the game to hold more of the new generation Pokémon from Hoenn and maybe Sinnoh as well. It'll be a known location to also capture the new Pokémon after the Post National Dex, so it will be a useful area like it normally is. For one, I'm just glad it is back, because it is a very well known area for the most part [and helpful too].

it was being said that the safari zone will have a special customization feature,so will it be like advance map for the 3rd gen games or what?

We already have a Safari Zone thread - hence, this is merged.
Question is a tad confusing as well... like the advance map in 3rd gen? =/ Elaborate more on what you mean, please...

Don_Jon_91 August 14th, 2009 5:05 PM

Maybe some sinnoh pokemon will be there? Or hopefully Kanto pokemon.

he means the tool advenced map.... for rom hacks...

I'm hoping this is where they'll stick Houndour, Murkrow and Slugma in Johto.

And the customization aspect is what really interests me. I wonder if it will alter the Pokemon available in certain sections.

If it is the advance map from Rom Hacks you are talking about, then that is unlikely noting that this game is an official Game Freak product and not a fan based development. So, my guess is that it won't be included. Though, you are correct the Safari Zone does have a special customization features that allow players to get to each area faster without the waste of steps.

You know what, I agree with you on that. Finding Houndour in Kanto for Gold and Silver was pretty crazy to have seeing as it is naturally a Johto Pokémon. So, to find some of the right Pokémon where they need to be will be a great addition. The Safari Zone opens up a lot of things for the game and the Pokémon within it, both before and after the National Dex is obtained.

The safari zone feature seem a little complicated, but cool.
Maybe there is Pal Park in Kanto.

I have to agree with you on this. Even though nothing like this has ever been introduced in a Pokémon Game, I am still a little wary about the minute details pertaining its use. Yes, I am aware that you are able to move and switch the six unique areas to your liking, but I wonder if there is more to it than we think...? Maybe having a certain area in a certain section at a certain time will allow different Pokémon to be obtainable in the Safari Zone for future use? I don't know, but I guess we will just have to wait and see as the new Safari Zone and it's special features unfold...

But on a different/similar topic. What do you think the special area outside of the Safari Zone will be for? So far, t looks like there are a few stalls and a very stunning arch with a Safari Ball on it.

Guy August 15th, 2009 9:33 AM

A lot of people, because the customization feature for the Safari Zone is something new to the fans seem to be lost. However, when the news on the Safari Zone was released it was only brushed upon briefly, leaving others questioning on why it was moved and how it will work out with the new feature included. Though, Pokémon's average fanbase age is six to twelve, so Game Freak wouldn't over complicate the games for the younger minds as it wouldn't be able to decipher something overly complex. Because the customization feature is new, many fans have been over thinking the whole idea and being left confused with just the slight information known about it. However, I wouldn't be surprised to find it easier than it looks. Contests was a new feature before leaving many players confused on how it may work when little was known, but at the end, the process of it was found to be much easier than thought of before. So, my idea is that the new Safari Zone will be a lot easier to manage with its new features such as the customization of each area than what is thought of now.

torterra10 August 15th, 2009 9:34 AM

This feature seems weird but cool. :) I'm not sure if they are going to make a pal park in Johto or Kanto?

Ellie August 15th, 2009 5:57 PM

Yeah, Pokemon games have never been super-complicated (okay, not counting competitive battling stuff, because kids don't even touch that part of the games anyway), so I really doubt they'll make it more customizable beyond "move areas around to let you reach them faster." If it's open the first time you go to Cianwood City, I agree, it'd be a great place to put Misdreavus, Slugma, Larvitar, Houndour, etc, plus probably some of the rare Kanto Pokemon as well, since there truly aren't enough Johto Pokemon that a lot of families could be dedicated solely to the Safari Zone.

Red1530 August 15th, 2009 6:16 PM

I think the Safari Zone will have Pokémon from other regions and possible be used to transfer Pokémon from the Third Generation games.

...No, this is because the game is being made after the DSi release, so they wont make you have to have another DS lite just the transfer Pokemon. You cant put GBA games in the DSi.

The Safari Zone will be just like any other Safari Zone. Probably a lot like D/P/Pt where there are certain Pokemon before the E4 than more after.
