You could, in theory, catch a level 99 Magikarp and EV train it, then in about ten minutes, have a superpowered EV'd Gyarados. Just an idea. :P

Precious Tears August 11th, 2009 10:41 PM

It's more better if there IVs are unsually high, and I won't be afraid wasting my time for fishing them.

Alucus_Of_Borg August 12th, 2009 6:38 AM

But yeahhh... They do it for entertainment...

They could've done it for entertainment, but I believe they also did it so more people would catch those Magikarps. Since Magikarp is a weak pokémon and a lot of the population of people who think so too, would probably quickly change their mind seeing there is a LV 100 Magikarp in the water that's wild--they'd most likely want to catch it. The good thing about it is that it's not a glitch or an event so everyone can obtain it as long as you have Pokémon Platinum.

That's true, and I think that's pretty cool too. Though if the Magikarp was gaining EXP Points quickly before it could finish EVing, it could reach LV 100 and you wouldn't be able to have it fully EV'd. But seeing as it is at such a high LV, it'd take slow to gain EXP Points so there's a high chance you could do that.

I saw that before. That shiny uber trainer sux ass because it didn't KO his Magikarp quickly. Kyorge shouda used Thunderbolt to KO his Magikarp quickly so that so the called "strong" trainer will get pwned.

7 Words for this: Magikarp sucks ass. Gyarados rocks and FTW!

If i worked for gamefreak i'd sneak little things into the game like making a pokemon learn tackle at level 100 i see no problem here

mervyn797 August 13th, 2009 10:10 PM

but if u feed it 1 rare candy or simply level it up, it will evolve into a lv.56 garados! wont that be cooool?

HeartGold95 August 13th, 2009 10:15 PM

The same MORON that helped make your game. You don't know what other role the person had in the game, but until you do, you should be grateful he helped in the creation of it. Besides, Level 100 Magikarp=EPIC WIN, so you should gtfo if you insult them like that.

Maybe it's because no one in their right mind would honestly want to train a Magikarp to level 100. (Some people actually try to get every single Pokemon to level 100.) I thought it was a good idea. Catch a high level Magikarp, give it a Rare candy so it evolves into Gyarados, and you can fool people on wifi. Make them think it's a good trade, and it has bad stats. They think you actually got a Gyarados that level and they give you a good Pokemon for it. Too bad I got my level 5 Magikarp from Diamond version to level 100 legitimately and traded it to Platinum.

The ones at GameFreak aren't "morons." If they were, you wouldn't be buying the same game over and over again with just a little more features added. pfft.

You make a good point. I think catching a LV 100 Magikarp wild is pretty cool. Since Magikarp is normally weak, you wouldn't have to train it to LV 100 the hard way, so it makes yourself have more time to do something else. As I said before, if people absolutely hate Magikarp, they could catch a LV 99 one and train it to a LV 100 Gyarados [or level it up by a Rare Candy].

I can assure you you've got that on the spot. Getting mad at one little feature in the game when you have the whole entire other side of features is kind of ridiculous. But since everyone has their own opinion about things, it works both ways.

Zacceh August 14th, 2009 7:43 AM

Who ever said I was getting mad at the "one little feature in the game?" I think it's pretty hilarious.
And now it's time for epic back paddling:
I said "moron" because I PERSONALLY saw no need to throw a high level Magikarp into the game like that. Others might. Personally me, not so much.
HOWEVER!
I have recently started trying to capture these Magikarps just to see how high level I can get. I'm up to Lv.64 right now.

magrathean August 14th, 2009 11:13 AM

Moron? I think GENIUS.

It's just funny haha.

LuckyCharm August 14th, 2009 3:33 PM

I don't know.. I have always wanted to catch a level 99 Magikarp and rare candy it to level 100 xD
that'd be soo awesome!!

Logiedan August 14th, 2009 3:51 PM

Catch a level 99 Magikarp. Level it up one level.
CONGRATULATIONS LEVEL 100 GYARADOS. Lmao.
It's hillarious. I fish there sometimes just to see the high leveled Magikarps. :D

Sydian August 14th, 2009 4:01 PM

I totally forgot about that. I'm about to go fishing on my Platinum now. I don't think it's stupid. I think it's epic making a Pokemon that's typically viewed as the worst thing ever the highest level wild Pokemon you can catch legitimately.

Don_Jon_91 August 14th, 2009 4:59 PM

I guess it's kinda like how there's a magikarp trainer in every game.
