What Is Your Political Party

As the title says what is your political stance/party. Liberal, Conservative, Socialist, Fascist, Independent or do you bounce between parties or perhaps do you just not care.

I see myself as a Conservative on most issues. I support a strong military defense, tougher crime laws, especially capital punishment (which I wish we in Canada still had) against abortion and same-sex marriage and against higher taxes.

Timbjerr August 11th, 2009 2:53 PM

I can't wait until someone derails this thread with their own self-righteous fanaticism. :P

Personally, I'm a Libertarian with some Conservative tendencies, especially on social issues. ^_^

theDIRTYAVENGER August 11th, 2009 2:56 PM

Mostly Liberal with a sprinkle of Fiscal Conservative tendancies.
I support gay marriage, oppose abortion except in life threatening situations, support Universal Healthcare, and am against the Iraq War.

Facism? FACISM? Are you serious???

EDIT: Capital Punishment BAD.

I had to prepare for any possibility.

.little monster August 11th, 2009 4:48 PM

*waits for closure*

I am Liberal.

icomeanon6 August 11th, 2009 4:56 PM

I tend to be conservative, though I lean liberal on the issue of capital punishment. I oppose the death penalty for the same reason that I oppose abortion.

Morkula August 11th, 2009 5:23 PM

As long as this remains a civil poll and doesn't fall into a debate or flamewar, I don't see why this can't stay open.

That said, I consider myself a moderate liberal. I tend to lean liberal on most issues, but I oppose abortion (as well as capital punishment, for that matter) except in cases where the mother's life is in danger, rape, incest, etc. I'm also more conservative on some other smaller issues, but for the most part I lean toward the left.

Sydian August 11th, 2009 5:33 PM

For the most part, I try to care less. I guess when it comes down to it, I'm some hybrid between a conservative and a liberal. I don't really care about gay marriage, but I strongly oppose abortion, unless there's a serious circumstance, and even then, I'd still prefer the adoption solution after the baby was born. That's another story, though. But yeah. Predominantly not caring.

Aurafire August 11th, 2009 6:31 PM

I'm conservative on most issues, especially fiscal ones. Socially, I'm more towards the center.

dotKarma August 11th, 2009 6:52 PM

Independent. I don't like picking a side, because there are things on every side that I disagree with and some things I do agree with. Plain and simple. Being independent really lets me keep my own opinion, too.

Esper August 11th, 2009 7:08 PM

There's no mistaking me for anything but liberal (more schools, fewer prisons), but I don't identify with any particular party so I would also call myself independent.

Citrinin August 11th, 2009 9:37 PM

I don't like to identify with any party, as none of the major ones tend to represent my views in general. I find that both the left and the right have policies that I agree with, and policies that I disagree with, and it seems to be in roughly equal proportion each side. It's also not unusual for me to oppose things that both the left and the right tend to agree on.

So yeah. Independent. XD;

Gary, the Magic Fairy August 11th, 2009 9:40 PM

I really just don't care about political issues, for the most part.

theDIRTYAVENGER August 11th, 2009 10:11 PM

This thread is impossible to answer, however. As Liberal and Conservative are both ideologies, not parties. You should have either put the thread as "What is your Ideology" and put the options as Liberal, Con, or Moderate. Or as "What is your Political Party" and asked Democratic, Republican, Green, Libertarian, and so on.

I'll revive this thread as "what is your ideology".

Ivysaur August 12th, 2009 12:51 AM

Social-democrat, common voter of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party, with a nice share of full left tendencies (also a supporter of the Spanish Communist Party, sometimes).

Cherrim August 12th, 2009 6:13 AM

My views and ideals are typically pretty liberal. I probably fall somewhere in social liberalism or social democracy. I don't align solely with a particular party when I vote though--I weigh all my options each time and make my decision based on which issues I think are the most important and each party's stance on them at the time, etc.

Bianca Paragon August 12th, 2009 6:23 AM

I'm a staunch supporter of Third Way; whereby a political party transcends both the left and the right and assimilates elements from both in search of a better option. Though I've always been a fan of democratic socialism; I think either end of the spectrum is equally as bad as each other when taken to extremes. Do we save money; or spend money? Do we better the infrastructure for the people; or entice richer people into the infrastructure? Should people fear the government; or should the government fear the people? Any evil can be a solution and vice versa; which is why I think all systems are inherently flawed and Third Way is really the only viable option.

Legobricks August 12th, 2009 6:39 AM

I've heard the term commu-fascist before, I think that best describes me.

Ayselipera August 12th, 2009 10:15 AM

I'm probably as Liberal as they come... not an ounce of Conservative in me.

22sa August 12th, 2009 10:23 AM

I only like facist (military ideal), left-wing (socialist ideal), and very right-wing parties (capitalist ideal). The middle parties don't have an interesting purpose.

Pikaluvr August 12th, 2009 11:44 AM

I'm independent... for the most part.

~*!*~Tatsujin Gosuto~*!*~ August 12th, 2009 11:48 AM

I really don't care, to be honest

Rokusasu August 12th, 2009 11:49 AM

I don't know, I fail at the politics. ;-; So does my country's current government. So I just pick at random, or who is talking the most sense to me at the time of the voting. XD

I swear dotKarma is my twin. This this this this. D: Yeah, I'm currently independent for likes and dislikes with every side.

TRIFORCE89 August 12th, 2009 12:16 PM

I'm centre-right, a liberal conservative (or a conservative liberal. They both mean different things depending on your location), a moderate conservative, a Red Tory, a progressive conservative, etc. In a nut shell I'm socially liberal (but the emphasis not on those issues) and fiscally conservative.

I live in Canada. We used to have a Progressive Conservative party at the federal level. Now we don't because they merged with the Canadian Alliance which is further to the right than I'm comfortable with. So, at a federal level I could vote for the new Conservative party or even the Liberal party. Have to weigh the issues and candidates at the time. Not saying the other parties aren't an option (the New Democratic Party are credited with creating our health care system afterall). But generally, due to the differences between my politics and theirs, supporting them may be unlikely unless they really impress me during an election.

In my province of Ontario we still have a Progressive Conservative party thankfully. And I'd generally vote for them. However, we lack a far-right party and as such we end up with Blue Tories in the party. The parties current leader is a Blue Tory much to my dismay. So, not sure how I'll vote in the next provincial election. Again, nothing is off-limits.

My politics generally align with one party over the other most of the time but always have to examine the candidates and issues at hand. One's politics is not necessary the same as the ideology of a political party of the same name.
