Soul Silver...Heart Gold...Which is the difference?

Hello!I haven't played silver or gold and i am very excited for their remakes!I was just wondering one thing!Soul Silver...Heart Gold...Which is the difference beetwen these 2 games?

linkinpark187 August 16th, 2009 11:31 AM

Different Pokémon really. You can catch Lugia and Ho-oh in both, but you catch one before the other in one version, and vice-versa in the other. Other than that, I can't really think of anything... I need to brush up a bit on them. Time to go back to the good ol' days! lol :D

Geo_mani August 16th, 2009 11:32 AM

Thanks, but i need to know more, cause i have to choose....I think Heart Gold....

TigerSwift August 16th, 2009 11:36 AM

You've got till spring 2010 before it comes out in Europe... unless you're buying the JP or US versions?

I don't think there is much difference between the two other than you can only catch certain pokemon in one and others in the other. You can only catch (legendaries) Ho-oh in gold and Lugia in silver. The three Legendary hounds (Suicune etc etc) are caught in both, and the main storyline will be the same in both.

Have a look here: http://www.serebii.net/heartgoldsoulsilver/

Camisado August 16th, 2009 11:37 AM

Actually TigerSwift - and sorry to go off-topic - both the US and EU get HGSS at the same release time now. =)

Geo_mani August 16th, 2009 11:39 AM

I know i have to wait until spring TigerSwift and you can catch both legendaries(lugia,ho-oh) in both games(hg,ss)

Epoxy August 16th, 2009 11:41 AM

Lugia = lvl 70 in silver
Ho-Oh = lvl 40 in silver

ho-oh = lvl 70 in gold
lugia = lvl 40 in gold

Only thing i know

Ho-oh and lugia can be caught in both as already mentioned

TigerSwift August 16th, 2009 11:43 AM

Seems to be some confusion over legendaries, look lower level than some people are saying but both available in both games (LAME!) http://www.serebii.net/heartgoldsoulsilver/legends.shtml

I would suggest keeping an eye on serebii.net Geo_mani as they are really good with releasing news and updates.

There are many differences between the two game. For example, the main character (player) might have a different, colored outfit according to the game you're playing.

Spring 2010 is still a long way. More spoils might be released until then.

Niprop August 16th, 2009 3:17 PM

If the remakes follow the same formula as the others:

Mankey, Primeape, Growlithe, Arcanine, Spinarak, Ariados, Gligar, Teddiursa, Ursaring, and Mantine can only be caught in Gold version, while Vulpix, Ninetales, Meowth, Persian, Ledyba, Ledian, Delibird, Skarmory, Phany, and Donphan can only be caught in Silver version, Also, what the above said.

Nemaru August 16th, 2009 3:28 PM

I know that Ho-oh is caught before Lugia in Gold and vice-versa in Silver.

And, being a big fan of Arcanine I know that they can only be caught in HeartGold/Gold. And I'm pretty sure Skarmory is Silver-only.

You forgot, Houndoor is also another Silver-obtainable Pokemon.

uncivilyoshi August 16th, 2009 4:23 PM

In Soul Silver you can Obtain Groudon, While in Heart Gold you can obtain Kyogre.

From the official Pokemon (PUSA website: it was revealed that Pokemon HeartGold version and Pokemon SoulSilver version will be available for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi systems in spring 2010 in the United States and Europe.

It's right there on the linked page if you want to check.

Right now, it's unsure what exclusives are going to be in the game, because that information really hasn't been given out yet. One can assume that the exclusive Pokemon for each version would be the same, since these are remakes in one sense of the word. So Niprop's post (with Eggie Poo Poo's edition) could be taken as assumed truth.

What levels they will be at, or if the locations stay the same (Houndour in Kanto again? No) isn't easy to say, but I do remember hearing that Ho-Oh's/Lugia's levels change when you first meet them (Ho-Oh in HeartGold first, Lugia in SoulSilver first).

I read in Bulbapedia that Teddiursa, Ursaring were obtainable in Silver in the Japanese version while unavailable in the Gold and vice-versa for Phanpy and Donphan. I wonder if they will do that again in the Japanese version and I wonder if the English version will do change it again too. I really hope that they English version does not change anything because I prefer Phany and Donphan to Teddiursa and Ursaring

Lady Gaga August 28th, 2009 6:03 AM

since the legendaries can be caught in both games, it will only be the opening cutscenes and different pokemon will only be obtainable in certain games, like in Diamond and Pearl.
