Some Pokemon Skeletons
So I'm at my grandma's, on a limited internet connection, so while here I decided to do some artwork. I started with an Arceus, but quickly ran into problems considering his bizarre and unique anatomy. So out of nowhere, I started drawing his skeleton to hopefully get a better idea of how to pose him. Then I got obsessed with drawing Pokemon skeletons and have been doing them for the past few days.
Necessary note: I really only have an amateur knowledge of anatomy, never having taken an actual class on the topic. I am likely clueless about any errors in structure that may seem obvious to experts. Also, I can only make minimal edits to these one they're done due to the complicated process of saving them. (I draw them in One Note to get a good vector lineart that is pressure sensetive, then transfer it to Illustrator, rasterize it at a high resolution (which usually freezes my computer), which gets a good picture, but mucks up some of the flair the in the linework, so I then Live Trace it which smooths out everything, and allows me to edit the shape of each line directly. Then I export it as a png and put the original drawing under it in photoshop, finally saving it as a final copy.) Editing the original drawing would require going through all the Illustrator detail work all over again. - Warning HUGE pictures ahead - http://fc05.deviantart.com/fs48/f/2009/225/0/7/Arceus_Skeleton_by_Chibi_Pika.png http://fc07.deviantart.com/fs46/f/2009/226/e/7/Skymin_Skeleton_by_Chibi_Pika.png http://fc01.deviantart.com/fs47/f/2009/229/6/0/Charizard_Skeleton_by_Chibi_Pika.png Anatomical notes can be found at each pic's DA page. (Which also would allow a smaller view of each pic.) http://chibi-pika.deviantart.com/art/Arceus-Skeleton-133256642 http://chibi-pika.deviantart.com/art/Skymin-Skeleton-133423351 http://chibi-pika.deviantart.com/art/Charizard-Skeleton-133676112 I've got plans to do a few more, but only Pokemon whose anatomy proves unique in some way or another. For instance, doing Mightyena would be useless since it would pretty much just have an ordinary wolf skeleton. Among my to-do list are Lucario, Lugia, Rayquaza, Mewtwo, and Palkia. I doubt I'll get to all of them, but we'll see. ~Chibi~ |
These are phenomenal. Now, if only Pokemon were a necromancy game.
I haven't studied skeletons myself, so I haven't much critique. Your lines are so ridiculously clean, it's scary. Also, thanks for reminding me that I can draw stuff in OneNote. I can't believe I tolerated linearts in PAINT for so long >_< And, daaaw Arceus is so cute. |
I love skeletons because people can't say they're creppy and scary and gross because they would just be calling themselves that. XD Keep drawing Chibi. ;)

wow i really like those drawlings Chibi, keep up the good work!

Those are amazing.
I'm pretty sure RL Pokemon will have skeletal structures like that too. Shaymin's funny. Wonder how its neck supports a huge skull like that? lol Anyhow, good work. Wanna see more stuff from you! |
I like these. Charizard is amazing! Why don't you draw back things too, like other legs or Charizard's wing?
|
Very nicely done! You may only have a limited knowledge of anatomy, but these look truly professional.
|
This is something new, I would of never though that Pokemon actually had bones (lol just kidding). These are really done well =) we want moar
:t354:TG |
Nice job, Stuff like that should help alot of folks get used to their anatomy
|
Wow, these are really good. I like the Charizard one especially.
|

you relly rendered their skeletons awesomely xD I would never think of doing that! keep up the great work ^.=.^ |
Thanks for the comments, everyone! Hopefully I'll still have time to do more of these before school starts. =P
