Shiny Starter

Is There Like a Code to get a shiny starter (like without a gameshark or action replay??)
Thanx
~Totodile2~ :3:

Simon October 7th, 2004 3:04 PM

Erm...no. Codes need a cheating device in order to be considered a code...o__O

Totodile2 October 7th, 2004 3:06 PM

So anything else or is it just luck or something??

AdamHays October 7th, 2004 3:10 PM

yes,its just luck finding a shiny pokemon.

PazzKat October 7th, 2004 4:34 PM

Why do you need codes though? o_o;; If you were really a skilled (patient) trainer, you'd soft reset (Select, Start, A, B) until you got your shiney. o_<

Totodile2 October 7th, 2004 6:05 PM

How long does it usually take??

Simon October 7th, 2004 8:30 PM

There is no set time for getting a shiny. It's just completely down to your luck. Some people get it in 5 minutes, some people get it in 5 weeks.

rampage333 October 7th, 2004 8:42 PM

nah i dont have an shiny pokemon starters though but i was training my golem at power plant, i saw an shiny magnemite loh i threw great ball but still cant catch huh

Desaparecidos October 7th, 2004 10:57 PM

unless you really really really want a shiny, i would say don't even bother. it's already taking me weeks to get a shiny Gastly. it will probably take you even longer because you have to reset and try again over and over.

this is like the fourth shiny thread lol

Simon October 7th, 2004 11:56 PM

Yes...people seem to ask about shinys all the time. And each time it's usually the same question. In anycase, I just hatched a shiny Cubone. 68 eggs hatched and only 1 is shiny...12 eggs left unhatched...hmmm...

rampage333 October 8th, 2004 1:41 AM

wats the difference shiny and non-shiny just only their states increase abit lol

_Chris_ October 8th, 2004 2:41 AM

The only difference between a shiny and normal is the shiny is a different color, the stats and moves are the same.

Desaparecidos October 8th, 2004 8:14 AM

i've even heard that shiny's are weaker than non-shiny's. is this true?

!Dragonite! October 8th, 2004 8:16 AM

No, the only differnce between a shiny and a non-shiny is the color. No stat difference or nothing.

Prylace October 8th, 2004 9:46 AM

Are you people sure that there is no stat difference? Here's where I think a GameShark could actually be useful... someone should use their 'shark for an experiment.

I propose someone with a Game Shark or Action Replay test this out. Here's my advice...

Make it so that every Pokemon you encounter is the same Pokemon, I dunno.. Ditto for example. And also make is so that they are all shiny. Now that you're only encountering Shiny Ditto's everywhere you go, go catch a bunch of Shiny Ditto of the same level (at least 10 or so) and then catch a bunch of non Shiny Ditto of the same level (also at least 10). Then compare and contrast. Check to see what the IV's are of each Ditto and then see if there's a trend or something.

I distinctly remember back in GSC that Shiny Pokemon seemed to have higher offence stats and lower defence than the non shiny versions of themselves. I used a gameshark test it.. but my Game Shark was eaten by a dog a long time ago and I haven't bought one since.

Toothache October 8th, 2004 9:53 AM

In GSC, Shiny pokemon did have higher offensive and lower defensive stats. In R/S and FR/LG, there is no such modification, shiny Pokemon have the same stats as normal Pokemon

Simon October 8th, 2004 4:48 PM

Yes, and catching a large amount of random shiny Pokemon won't help you prove there is a stat difference. You have to take in IVs (which is hard to figure out unless the Pokemon is at a high leve) and their personalities, both of which affect stats and are both also random. RANDOM I SAY.

shinehunter187 October 8th, 2004 6:24 PM

hatched a shiny cubone? i found one training my evs for special attack for mewtwo. that was in the lavender tower.. got it in like 30 mins... now im trying to get a shiny charmander by hatching it. time 4hours 300+ hatches no shiny but i will never give up!!!!

_Chris_ October 8th, 2004 6:25 PM

Shiny charmanders are cool. Good luck on trying to get one.

codeguru October 8th, 2004 6:32 PM

so, is this the place to get codes?

Simon October 8th, 2004 6:52 PM

I have 12 of all 3 starters...

Codeguru..you want to ask in the Codes and Cheating Devices thread. Not here.

Totodile2 October 9th, 2004 1:33 PM

OK Thanx all of you.I FINALLY GOT A SHINY....BLASTOISE!!
Took me like 5 hours 45 minutes.

PazzKat October 12th, 2004 9:38 PM

Currently I'm trying to get a clefairy from team rocket, the odds are the same, and it's a relatively fast process, I can buy 5 clefairy's in a minute, check them, restart, and start buying the next set in the same minute. Easiest way for a shiney I beleive...As long as you can afford to buy one set of 5 of the type of pokemon you're looking for.
