Seeing as things got a little nostalgic around here might aswell chime in, Havent really played pokemon since sun and moon came out. I still hate them games even though I bought US/UM for my collection.

I still hunt on occasion but real life gets in the way.

Maserati777 July 27th, 2018 9:29 AM

I’m estactic my longest shiny hunt ended today, well sort of

I started shiny hunting for Nidoran female probably back in mid 2017. I started masuda method hunting for it in Aug 2017.

Today my horde hunting ended, shiny Nidoran female appeared at 191 hordes. I will add up all 26 shiny totals to determine # of Pokemon seen later.

Overall I found 16 shiny Nidoran males, haven’t checked natures so not sure if I have one of each, 8 Stunky’s. In Dec I found a shiny Starly on phase 19. I traded one of the males away but will list all natures later.

I’ve hatched over 3,000 eggs and counting. Will continue this hunt.

I plan to do random encounters for Nidorina. Twice if the masuda results in a male, once if female.
I will add the other Pokemon I found this month later.

Maserati777 July 28th, 2018 1:37 PM

Here's the July shinies list

Stunky #8 on the 10th in 435 hordes
Nidoran male #16 on the 15th in 87 hordes (I found a random shiny male Nidoran in my PC so this is actually #16)
Excadrill on the 16th in 244 FS encounters
Vanillite #9 on the 18th in 240 hordes
Cubchoo #8 on the 23rd in 123 hordes
Nidoran female on the 27th in 191 hordes

I found a Nidoran male in my pc from Jun 16th that I forgot to count for so the Nidoran female was actually phase 26. Adding the 25 Phases together I got 13,881 hordes. It is more with the Jun 16th Nidoran but I don't know how many encounters that one was.

It looks like one of the shiny Nidoran males had hidden ability, Hustle.

In terms of natures I didn't get one of each.

16kims1 July 29th, 2018 12:38 AM

Just to chime in a bit, I managed to get 2 shinies since my last update.
Beldum at 976 eggs at BW
Deino at 112 eggs at BW
Unfortunately, the nature of the deino is jolly :(

Hey guys! o/

For many years, Pokemon Gaming Central was pretty much the home of the Shiny Hunter's Club. What's changing though, is that since we've opened up a new forum dedicated exclusively to clubs, we've been wondering whether or not everyone here would be okay with this club being relocated more in our new Clubhouse forum (feel free to take a look!) rather than remaining here in PGC, but it's up to you guys.

Please let us know what you think!

EDIT: got approval from the club owner to do this, however I'm going to leave a redirect for about two weeks or so, just so everyone has enough time to catch up!

Iceshadow3317 August 3rd, 2018 6:44 PM

Woohoo! Shortest Egg hunt ever! I started hunting for shiny pokemon for my rainbow challenge and in 6 Eggs I got a Shiny Sandygast!!!

Perfect pokemon for the rainbow challenge, during the summer and in Alola! Not only that but I was playing on the beach in another game when I got this one!

Spoiler:
Green: Minun
Purple: Swanna
Blue: Braviary
Cyan: Squirtle (Now Blastoise)
Black: Sandygast
Gray:
White:
Pink: Barbaracle
Yellow: Floatzel
Orange: Charmander (Now a Charmeleon) ( More so yellow but close enough to orange.)
Red:

Edit: I have now caught a Shiny Swablu in Pokemon Go! First shiny outside of a community day.

Edit 2: I have now caught a shiny Barbaracle . And since it has a good amount of pink on it, I will consider it my pink pokemon!! Only a red, white and grey to go!!

Behold, my beautiful son.

https://i.imgur.com/OsjI7gc.png

I think it took me between 250-320 SR's approximately, to find him, which blows my mind considering (most) Youtube videos I find about shining hunting Lapras have a ridiculous SR time. I find that insane because this is my first serious shiny hunt ever.
The lad refused to get in my Super or Ultra balls but I somehow was able catch him using a normal ball. Once. :U

https://i.imgur.com/W9VJ9SC.png

so sexeh

I actually did all of it purely for curiosity. Just to see how it was like to SR hunt like Poketubers are doing. It was a pretty alright experience! I'll definitely do it again with easy mons to hunt like Lapras.
Oh, and I'm keeping him along with Dennis, who's now a Slowking. I'm replacing him with that Milotic >:3c
Lastly his ridiculous nickname didn't come out of the blue, it's from an original character of mine who's also a dinosaur. Because lol I guess.

Edit: Plesiosaurs, which Lapras resembles, aren't dinos, whoops

Gratz on the Lapras!! I haven't seen one in a long time. It is one that I want to get.

As for my hunt, I caught 4 Shiny Eevees in Pokemon Go and evolved 2 of them into Vaporeons and 1 into Jolteon. My last one is sitting on my shoulder waiting to get 10km steps so I can evolve it into an Umbreon. Hopng to get a few more tomorrow to keep for a Glaceon in Pokemon Go when it comes out and a few more to try to get Flareon and maybe for Espeon and Leafeon.

Thanks! Purple is just the best. c;

I've never really played Pokemon Go nor did it caught my interest. To me it looks difficult to manage, and I don't have any device where I can download it on either. Still, hooray for your Eevees!

As I'm typing, I'm soft resetting for a shiny Dragonair, and currently at 84. In the hacked ROM I'm playing, the Dragon's Den gift Dratini has been changed to a Dragonair. I really hope it isn't shiny locked or anything and I can SR for it like it works in the normal game. ;w;

lil' starfish August 12th, 2018 8:10 AM

A pink boi.

https://i.imgur.com/EZZdoM1.png

It only took me 331 SR's! I began hunting since yesterday afternoon and I'm happy I woke up to see him. I was hoping for a female one because I already have 3 males in my party and I wanted to sorta balance that out. I don't know why I'm so perfectionist with the genders of my team, that's just me being weird.

Edit: Goofy me, the dragon's name is spelled with 2 t's! Fixed that.

OH MY GOODNESS, ONLY 10 EFFING SOFT RESETS??!!!

https://i.imgur.com/Q3nBq3m.png

I SWEAR I AM NOT USING ANY ACTION REPLAY, THIS WAS IN FULL ODDS. HOLY HELL. TEN. SOFT. RESETS.

This has to be the fastest shiny of my life. Weirdest part? I began SRing while watching SupremeRk9's video on shiny Lugia, and this happened when the video reached the part where he encountered the shiny. Is this a sign? QAQ

Edit: Aight, I have it now. The catch was really clunky; I spent my masterball on it only because it began to use struggle and basically I was panicking. No way in heck I'll let it slip away from my hands. Next time I'll try to be more prepared!

On Aug 6th I found a shiny Machop in Glittering Cave in 1,355 soft resets of the dark patch.
My targets were Cubone, Kangaskhan and Lunatone so will have to try again.

On 14th I finally found shiny Azurill on Route 22. It was phase 4, I originally found shiny Psyduck, Litleo and Bunnelby. I finally decided to do the repel trick and got a level 7 Chinchou with Illuminate. To save my repel I just soft reset once it ran out. It appeared at 713 encounters. Azurill is one of my favorite green shinies.

I returned to Azure Bay to hunt for Exeggcute and found a shiny Wingull in 51 random encounters, 14 random hordes and all 14 hordes were Wingull. The last time I got a random horde shiny I kept going and got a shiny soon after so will keep going here.

Aahhh it's has been a long while, since I last posted here, but I started hunting again and with success!

Beedrill 25 dex navs

Maserati777 August 25th, 2018 8:35 PM

I started a random encounter full odds hunt in Frost Cavern and at 128 encounters I got my shiny. Funny enough it was Smoochum.

I was horde hunting Smoochum before, got 9 Vanillite and 8 Cubchoo. So figures I get it in my first random encounter hunt in the Frost Cavern

Its my 4th 5% shiny, and since I was mainly going for Jynx and Smoochum I will keep hunting here for Jynx.

For the record I kept track of all Smoochum hordes I encountered, in 128 I saw 5 Smoochum hordes. I saw 524 Smoochum hordes thoughout the 17 shinies I found previously.

DarkTorchic August 26th, 2018 10:28 AM

Currently hunting wimpod in usum. wish me luck?

DarkTorchic September 11th, 2018 2:27 AM

Current goals

Vulpix: 523 dexnav
Caterpie : 330 eggs
New mauville : 898 hordes

After a few tough days shiny wise I got fed up with the Vulpix hunt, so decided to do some hordes will watching some tv series. Hordes being the easiet to do will watching tv.

I manged to get myself a zubat in 29 hordes. That was a quick one so I thought why not go for a second hordes from which I have no pokemon.

I started horde hunting in new mauville with magnemite & voltorb, two shinies I don't have. After 613 hordes I managed to get a shiny voltorb. After that find I decided to keep going in new mauville, because I still need the evolved kind of both & magnemite ofcourse.

I also decided to try the pokeradar in XY, because I used to be good at it in platinum. I were a stressful few hours with a lot of broken chains, trying to get the hang of it. But than it happend I managed a chain above 15, didn't get highr before the chain kept going and when I hit 30 my shiny patch appeared.
I was exstatic finally my golden worm Caterpie in a 30rd chain.

I tried to get going but at 35 I stepped into a decoy patch and that was it for the chain, so I'll have to try again to get me some more caterpie to evolve and complete the line. :)

Midnight Umbreon September 11th, 2018 6:41 PM

^^ I need them vibes now though. I uhh... Took a quick break from the wimpod couldn't get that pooper. Now hunting... Giratina in Gen 4 platinum.
Really. Wish me luck. I beg of you.

OH MY FREAKING GOSH!!!! MY FIRST EVER LEGIT SHINY HUNT!!!! AND UNDER 1000 SRs!!!!!!! I am shaking all over right now!!! Freaking shiny giratina!!!!! also my first ever shiny legend that I caught. Oh my gosh. I do not even. Had to use master ball, ran out of all my others. Dialga and palkia will be a pain in the butt. But Shiny freaking giratina!!!!!! I was watching a shiny hunt video, and I got it at the EXACT same time as they did.

Midnight Umbreon September 13th, 2018 11:46 AM

Ok. I have begun my next hunt. for shiny Azelf. So far, no sparkles. But it won't evade me forever. Anyway, thanks for the luck. And I'll attempt to pick up more of your vibes Mr. Torchic

Darkpoké001 September 18th, 2018 7:58 AM

Last time I posted I here I was using my old account. It's been awhile. Back shiny hunting, (with shiny Umbreon, my pride and joy) and I'm going back to ORAS to try and get my first Dexnav (tried lots but one never materialised).

Recieved a shiny Flygon in wonder trade a couple days back though?? it did look a bit suspect though so I let it go, despairingly.

-Edit- After staying up to almost 3am and after 401 search levels for Pidgeotto, I finally found a shiny one! my first Dexnav shiny, and I'm so glad I didn't give up (was close to doing so).

DarkTorchic September 23rd, 2018 3:19 AM

Vulpix: 523 dexnavs
new mauville: 1091 hordes

So I decided to keep chaining now that I got the hang of it. Found a pidgey at a chain of 11. Named it Filippe to commemorate a friend that has recently passed away. May he rest in peace.

After the pidgey I went back to santelune forest to get more caterpie and a weedle for my dex. I used the pokeradar, went into the first patch (non shiny normal patch) and BAM shiny catrepie out of the blue. I continued the chain and after a while it broke on a pansear, making me reset my game. I compleetly forgot about the caterpie I caught causing it to be gone in the data, goofbye caterpie.

Well I just keep on chaining to get more, to complete my evolution lines for weedle and caterpie

Been having a busy weekend, but on Friday I managed to Dexnav up a Shiny Larvesta in a mirage spot! took around 120 chains but eventually it popped up. Shiny Volcarona looks really cool??.

DarkTorchic September 27th, 2018 6:31 AM

Vulpix: 523 dexnavs
Sandshrew: 505 hordes
Magnemite: 51 dexnavs

Finally new mauville yielded the next shiny another voltorb. I evolved into an electrode completing the evolution line. Now that I completed the voltorb line, I'll just dexnav for magnemite so I don't get any more voltorb.

UPDATE

Dexnaving magnemite isn't the easiest thing to do with them having the sturdy ability, but I managed to get myself a magnemite after 119 dexnavs, I'm continueing the hunt to get another one, to complete the evolution line.

G-Money September 30th, 2018 11:25 PM

Hey SHC!! I wasn't able to post for a while there since I was super busy with school, and then I went to Seattle to find a Mariners T-shirt...their letters are really shiny!!! :laugh: And do I ever have shiny news - not only did I find one shiny during the last couple of months, but I actually managed to find two!!!!!

What was the first shiny I found? Why, it was a shiny Chikorita!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "lol" what else did you think it was going to be??? :pink_laugh: I've honestly lost track of how many shiny Chikorita I have now...I think this one is like, 5, maybe? :laugh-squinted: :pink_boogie: :boogie: :pink_laugh: I love collecting these things!!! Chikorita's one of my absolute favorite Pokémon (as in, top 5 all-time!), so I'm always thrilled to add another one, "lol!" So now I have like 5 shiny Chikorita, 3 shiny Totodile (I think!), and no shiny Cyndaquil! I've already traded Holly - this Chikorita was female!!! - to SoulSilver and reset to keep on the hunt! Cyndaquil's my all-time favorite Pokémon (as in, like, #1, hahahahaha!) and the SRs don't take long, so I'm going to keep hunting until I have three shiny Cyndaquil as well. I really love the Johto starters and always defend them in the "best starter set" debates, so I certainly don't mind getting more of these things, hahahahahahahaha!

Holly was Johto starter #4389, and I found her on July 27th, 2018 at 2:06 AM.

But that's not all!!!
There's more!

When I was flying back from Seattle to Boston, I continued my shiny hunts (as I did on the plane ride there, and lots of other times too, "lol!")! I was looking for that alleged shiny Sableye in Challenger's Cave in Black, and I ran into...

SHINY WOOBAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Woot woot!!! "lol" another shiny Woobat for me!! This concludes Phase II of my Sableye hunt, and now I have two shiny Woobat to show for it!! That shiny Sableye gets closer every day*!!! As for Woobat, I named him PDT 553, since I caught him at 5:53 Pacific Daylight Time**, and there was no way I was going to remember that for the whole plane ride without a computer to write that into a text file so I'd have the info for my next post at the SHC, "lol!" At first I thought it'd just be a temporary thing and that I'd give him a real nickname after I got off the plane and made this post, but it actually sounds kinda cool...like a secret agent name or something! :happy2:

I caught PDT 553 on September 26th, just north of Bismarck, North Dakota. That's my first shiny caught in North Dakota airspace!!! "lol" I bet there aren't too many of those! :laugh-squinted: It came exactly on encounter #5300 of Phase II, and encounter #23833 of my Sableye hunt overall. :pink_eek:

*Well, technically it doesn't, with the independence of Bernoulli randomly distributed events and all...but, y'know, I could get away with saying that if you think about a future G-Money (OMG future G-Money is so cool!!!! :tongue-poke: ) who definitely catches that infamous shiny Sableye, and then the present G-Money is getting closer to catching that shiny not because the shiny is physically, geographically, or mathematically getting closer, but because present G-Money is getting closer to future G-Money, and because future G-Money is super cool and awesome (I mean, he's from the future!!!), present G-Money is becoming even more super cool and awesome than he already is (y'all didn't think that was even possible, did you? MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!), and so present G-Money is certain to find that shiny Sableye...in the future!!! :pink_laugh:

**I know that North Dakota isn't in the Pacific Time Zone, but my watch was still set to that!! I wasn't going to change my watch for like half an hour or whatever while the plane was in each time zone, and "CDT 753" is like a bazillion times lamer than "PDT 553" as a name for a cool flying lime-green bat shiny!!!

I've only made 5 posts this year (gosh, has the Curse afflicted me!?!?), so here's a brief recap of my hunting status:

Primary Goal: Shiny Ghost Quest

I'm trying to get shiny Sableye in Challenger's Cave in Black, which has a 1/81920 chance, "lol!" Now that it's fall, I'm going to do a little bit of hunting for Pumpkaboo and Phantump in X, too! One day, I'll have all of the shiny Ghosts!! Then I'll be able to surround myself with shiny Ghosts as I laugh maniacally and make evil plans to conquer worlds!!! ALL THE SHINY GHOSTS!!!!!

Perpetual Secondary Hunt: Snivy

I like to dual-hunt or triple-hunt with multiple DSes at once, so I'm pretty much always SRing for Snivy on my second DS alongside whatever I'm hunting, "lol." I'm up to 7864 SRs for Snivy on White, and once I get it, I'll probs go for Oshawott and Tepig to continue down my starter tree. Then I'll just need Cyndaquil, Turtwig, the GenVI starters, the GenVII starters, the GenVIII starters, and the GenIX starters, and then I'll have all of them! If GenX gets released before I get all my starters...well, then future G-Money will just go out and catch shinies of all the GenX starters too, hahahahaha!

Setup Hunt: HeartGold

I really, really, really love how the Pokémon follow you around in HeartGold and SoulSilver, so for a long time, I've really wanted HG to be my primary hunting game, so then I'd get to have all my shinies there follow me around and be super awesome and all, haha! But first, I need to get my three shiny Cyndaquil - so that I can have one of each! - and then maybe SR one final time for shiny Chikorita (#509 by that point, "lol!") to play the game with and get tons of cool shinies. The Johto pokes are generally my faves, so I'm really looking forward to having a cool shiny team to follow me around, hahaha! So for now, my tertiary hunt is SRing for the Johto starters in HG.

Good luck to everyone on all of your shiny hunts, be they your primary, secondary, tertiary, or whatever hunts!!! Congrats on all the new shinies, and may the future yous have more shinies than the present yous!!! :tongue-poke:

Sandshrew 650 hordes

Managed to get myself another magnemite, dang that sturdy ability. Got this sucker at 213 dexnavs. Evolved it to a magneton, completing the gen I evolution line.

UPDATE

Caught myself a sandshrew at 652 hordes, keeping up the horde hunt to get a second one.

"lol"

AH the master himself returns ^^
Congrats on those shinies G and good luck on the future hunts.

Sending shiny vibes to all ^^

I haven't posted since the Smoochum, I have been shiny hunting since then.

I lost my Omega Ruby game in July but found it again in September.

I continued my hunt for Cacnea and Baltoy #2 and got a shiny Sandshrew in 426 Dexnav's and then shiny Cacnea in 502 Dexnav's both on Sept 17th. I don't need the Sandshrew but typically encounter every Pokemon that pops up. Was worried about Cacnea having Sticky Barb so just threw a quick ball and it caught.

I've been double full odds random encounter hunting for Exeggcute in Azure Bay and Jynx and Haunter in Frost Cavern. I'm at 2021 for Exeggcute and 2470 for Jynx/Haunter

I've also done some friend safari hunts again, found a 3rd shiny Volbeat, a 2nd shiny Dedenne and a shiny Gothorita in 450 FS encounters.

Darkpoké001 October 6th, 2018 2:56 AM

I've just turned on Pokémon Moon, and I was surfing on Ula Ula Island, and my FIRST wild encounter of the day was a Shiny Tentacool?!! I've only ever had a small few actual random encounter shinies (not hunting) and although there's better shinies (I found one on Omega Ruby too) it's my first I've find in the wild on Moon! A really nice suprise as I wasn't haven't a very good day.

Guys I have AMAZING News!!!! I decided to hunt my first shiny legendary (normally get S/Ring for me gets very tedious) and after just over a HUNDRED S/Rs I encountered a SHINY KYUREM!! I false swiped it with Scizor and it literally refused to he caught and I was so scared of it using struggle after chucking 40- 50 balls at it I resorted to the Master Ball (never would've forgave myself for losing this) I'm currently over the moon as you can imagine and am feeling so lucky

I don't think I've got any new Shinies to show-off, but here's a little game that I thought some of my fellow Shiny-hunters might enjoy. It's meant to be sort of like those games where you use random Pokémon generator to make your team, but is instead determined by your full-odds Shiny encounters.

https://i.imgur.com/JFlbfA6.jpg

I think this would be my team. It was tough choosing only six, but in the end, I ruled-out a couple on account of not being able to visualize myself having them IRL (like Froslass and A-Sandslash).

https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/shiny/mothim.gifhttps://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/normal/wartortle.gifhttps://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/normal/lickitung.gifhttps://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/normal/furret.gifhttps://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/normal/porygon2.gifhttps://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/normal/misdreavus.gif

Shiny Mothim: For a little over a year, I haven't been able to help but imagine Mothim as my partner in the Pokémon world. I've been interested in moths and taking photos of different intriguing species for the past four years or so. I chose to keep it as my Shiny not only because it's my favorite aesthetic Shiny, but also because I actually have seen a moth over this time with colors seemingly unusual for its species.

Wartortle: My favorite Pokémon design. One could even say that Squirtle was my Starter Pokémon. It may not have been my first in the games, but it was supposedly my first Pokémon toy (in the form of a candy dispenser). I also remember catching a turtle when I was younger and keeping it as a pet (though I ended up turning it loose).

Lickitung: My original favorite and still a very special and nostalgic Pokémon to me.

Furret: Sentret (non-Shiny) was the first Pokémon I ever caught in the games, so I feel that Furret fits. I also think it would be adorable IRL.

Porygon2: I feel that the Porygon line would be like virtual pets, but with actual consciousness. I could imagine it going back and forth between a computer or handheld device and the real world. (I was actually tempted to choose Magneton here since I used to daydream about having a Magnemite IRL, but with as much as I like using electronics, that may not be a healthy Pokémon to have around!)

Misdreavus: This one might be too spooky for me IRL, but it's such a cutie in 2D! I don't know why, but I remember fantasizing about training Ghost-Type Pokémon. It wasn't until I found a Shiny Misdreavus in VC Gold that I started seeing it as a potential partner though.

I'll likely change this team if I ever complete the hunts I've currently got my eyes on. I need a cat-like Pokémon.

G-Money October 14th, 2018 3:05 PM

OMG SHINY CYNDAQUIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

My favorite Pokémon!!!!! In shiny!!!! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA BOO-YEAH!!!!!! Shiny Cyndaquil is mine!!!!! Mwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahaa!!!!!! :pink_boogie:

Yeah! I found shiny Cyndaquil at 10:03 PM on October 12th, 2018. I now have all of the shiny Johto starters!!!!! I wasn't counting the SRs. This is super awesome - the one Pokémon I wanted most, and I now have it shiny!!! :nod: Oh yeah!

I've already traded it over to SoulSilver and hard reset to begin the hunt for my next shiny Cyndaquil. Just two more, and then I'll be able to have all its forms and begin my real HG save file! Then will begin my SHINEOUT!!!

Since it's fall, I've resumed my hunt on X in Mélancolie Path, searching for shiny Pumpkaboo and Phantump for Halloween. I have 6003 encounters already from past years, but maybe this year one of 'em will shine! :pink_love: As always, my other two hunts are Snivy and Challenger's Cave. Cyndaquil's yet another shiny I've caught while looking at non-shiny Snivy on my other DS, "lol!"

What a fantastic idea!! It's been, like, forever since we've had a club topic (probs over a decade, "lol!"), and this is an amazing thing. I'm totally playing!!!

Here's what my team would be:

https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/shiny/misdreavus.gifhttps://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/normal/cyndaquil.gifhttps://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/normal/chikorita.gifhttps://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/normal/bulbasaur.gifhttps://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/normal/mankey.gifhttps://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/normal/mantyke.gif

The first three were super easy for me to decide, and then I figured out the fourth one not long after, but 5 and 6 took me a while to think about. I actually had to go look through all the shinies I've gotten and really reflect on which ones I'd like to have walking around with me. Luckily my sig was updated relatively recently (like, within the last three years, haha!)! :laugh-squinted:

Shiny Misdreavus: Misdreavus was super easy. If I could have any one Pokémon, this'd probably be it. Not only is it super cool, but it's also emblematic of Ghost-types and Ghost trainers, and it's fitting for me to have a Ghost shiny, since I'm the guy who's out looking for shiny Ghosts. Of course, I'd def pick it to be my shiny, since shiny Misdreavus looks incredibly cool - I mean, it's a floating gold Ghost!!! How awesome is that, right? :pink_laugh: And also, it's the perfect size to have as a Pokémon partner. You wouldn't want something like a Wailord or a Cutiefly accompanying you down the street! :laugh:

Cyndaquil: OMG did you guys know I have a shiny Cyndaquil??? :tongue-poke: I'm so glad icycatelf came up with this now, since just a couple of days ago I wouldn't have been able to have my favorite Pokémon with me, haha! Cyndaquil would definitely be my starter, and anytime I think about what Poké I'd have beside me on a journey, it's always Cyndaquil. Like Misdreavus, he's the perfect size, and having a cute thing walking alongside you whose back can spontaneously ignite into a wicked-awesome flame is just the dopest thing ever.

Chikorita: Chikorita is right up there in my top 3 favorites ever, and it's just super amazing. It's, again, a perfect size for walking alongside a trainer, and I bet Razor Leaf would look amazing irl. The necklace kinda thing around Chikorita's neck looks really cool, and having four tiny legs makes for a cool traveling companion.

Bulbasaur: I know I already have a small Grass-type on my team, but Bulba is just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too cool to leave off. This was a no-brainer for me, as Bulbasaur fits my criteria perfectly and seems like a really cool Pokémon to have around. I think that Bulbasaur was one of Ash's best Pokémon in the anime, and in my opinion, it's probably the most underrated Pokémon overall. I mean, a dinosaur/plant thing that can basically shoot laser beams from its back??? And shoot leaves at opponents and whip them with vines??? Too cool. Irl, I think those attributes would really play up, and I would absolutely love to see a Solar Beam irl, haha. It would be so cool! Bulbasaur's #1!

Now this is where it really gets hard. I came up with ten Pokémon for these last two spots, "lol!" My favorite among them is by far Beldum, but I wouldn't want that to be my companion. I'd want my Pokémon to follow me around outside their PokéBalls, and I just can't imagine a Beldum walking by my side down the sidewalk, haha.

Mankey: This is a pretty unconventional choice for me since I don't particularly like Mankey or even consider it among my 100 faves overall, but I think it fits nicely for an irl team. It's that perfect size to have as a pet who'll follow you around a region (size seems to be my primary criterion, "lol"), and as a Fighting-type, it helps balance the team quite a bit by adding a new type that can hit Normals and Darks pretty hard. I considered Hitmonchan for this spot, but 1) it's too tall ("lol") and 2) it seems like more of a late-game Poké, whereas I like having lots of evolvable early-gamers on my team that stick with me for the whole run, so I can kinda bond with them and see them grow over the course of the journey. Mankey fits that bill pretty well, since you can get him on the second available route in FRLG and he can evolve into a very usable, late-game-viable battler.

Mantyke: Another weird choice from me! This one was really hard, and I considered a bunch of possibilities: Shuppet, Litwick, Spiritomb, Golett, Mudkip, Koffing, and Mantyke were the finalists. Shuppet was my first hunted shiny and I spent hundreds of hours looking for it before I had even confirmed that shinies could really be hunted, and it's also that perfect size (OMG I had no idea how much size mattered for irl teams...like, it's something I've literally never thought about in the games - not even once! - but it's a major component for this analysis, hahahaha!) and it has a super-cool crystalline color, but I already am carrying a pretty weak Ghost on my team, so I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to compete in trainer battles carrying two small Ghosts and two small Grasses. That eliminates Shuppet, Spiritomb, Golett, and Litwick. Litwick's fire would have been useful, but even though its Special Attack isn't all that bad in the games, irl I'd imagine it as just having that weak little flame on top, and that'd be super weak, haha. Koffing would be cool because it fits the size criterion and it's more of a status specialist that can help catch new Pokémon and weaken strong opponents so my sweepers could take them out, but I ultimately went with Mantyke. I wanted a Water-type to cover my weakness to Fire (carrying two Grass is a really bad idea, "lol!" ...but I just can't give up on either Chiko or Bulba), so it came down to Mudkip or Mantyke. Mudkip is probably in my top-10 overall and I've played multiple Hoenn runs with it as my partner, but I already have two starters on my team and there's one other factor to consider: familiarity. I've literally never used Mantyke or Mantine in any capacity whatsoever, so I really don't know anything about them. In contrast, I've played like hundreds of hours with Mudkip/Marshtomp/Swampert on my team, and I like trying out new Pokémon I've never used before. So I think it would be a fun change to try out cool Pokés I'm not familiar with like Mantyke and Mankey for a fun new adventure! :happy:

"lol" that went way longer than I intended, haha. But it was super fun thinking it through! Looking back like that really makes me appreciate my shinies more in a way I'd never thought about. Maybe if some of you guys want we could try having a battle on like Showdown or Wifi sometime with the teams we made, haha. It could encourage us to go out and start hunting OU shinies! :pink_laugh:

Caught myself a sandshrew at 652 hordes, keeping up the horde hunt to get a second one.

Congrats on those shinies, DarkTorchic!! What are you going to hunt for next?

And thanks for those shiny vibes - they helped me get my Cyndaquil!!! :boogie:

Good luck on your Exeggcute hunt! I never liked the originals all that much, but Alolan Exeggcutor gave me a newfound appreciation of the line and now it's one of my absolute favorite Pokémon of all-time. My friends totally hate on it, but honestly, if I had a shiny one, it'd go right on my team for icycatelf's game, haha! :laugh:

Super awesome congrats on that Cyndaquil, and good luck getting two more to complete the line! I personally love Shiny Quilava, at least with the shade of brown used on its 3DS model. Good luck on your Phantump/Pumpkaboo hunt as well!

Fun team! Your explanations make mine look lazy. I don't think the height factor of Hitmonchan really bother me that much, but its humanoid qualities would probably make me uncomfortable (one of the reasons I can't see myself with Froslass IRL). Mantyke is an interesting choice. Personally, I have a hard time seeing myself with fish Pokémon since, unlike in-game, many of them could only follow me/battle in water.

A tourney based on this idea could be fun!

EDIT: Not one of the cat-like Pokémon I've had my eyes on lately, but I'll take it! I ended up using the Luxury Ball I had planned for a Shiny Nincada/Shedinja because it looks so cool.

https://i.imgur.com/2fdbPAS.jpg

While Zangoose is clearly inspired by mongooses, I feel that they deliberately made it look more cat-like as a reference to the literal translation of the Japanese word for mongoose, "cat-ferret."

I got his nickname from Kyanite (a blue gemstone), but I'm pronouncing it as Kian (kee-in). Not sure which game I'll train him in yet, but I'll eventually transfer him to SoulSilver to join Noa (my Shiny Furret). I could totally ship these two — they even have the same Nature!

Guys, I've found the key to shiny hunting!!! It's...it's...it's...

Spoiler:
SHINY KLEFKI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:laugh:

I ran into this guy last night, October 20th, at exactly 5:00 PM. It came on encounter #8258 in the Mélancolie Path on X - I've finally finished Phase I of my pumpkin-picking hunt after many, many years! :laugh-squinted: It was raining in-game that day, and shiny Klefki kinda looks like rusted keys that've been left outside, "lol." I thought the color scheme went perfectly with a Quick Ball, so I used Hypnosis and then caught him on Quick Ball attempt number three. I named him Clay, since that's how you pronounce "keys" in French, and Kalos is kinda like France and all that! :pink_love:

Back to Pumpkaboo picking!!! :boogie:

Thanks, man! Good point about Mantyke not being able to walk around because he's a fish creature, "lol!" And you're totally right about the humanoid Pokémon being creepy to walk with - I think that's part of why having really small Pokémon is so appealing for me, haha.

Huge congrats on your Zangoose!! You always come up with the best names, haha. Good luck getting your Nincada and your cat-like shiny! You have lots of options, like Meowth, Skitty, Purrloin, Eevee...

*crowd arrives with pitchforks after hearing Eevee in a discussion of cats*

icycatelf October 21st, 2018 3:42 PM

No prob, and congrats on the Shiny keychain! I could've seen myself with a Klefki when I was younger since I went through a key-collecting phase. I wonder how long it was after I curiously stuck them in an electric outlet that I stopped collecting them...

Thanks! I hope you get that purple pumpkin!

It's funny that you should mention Eevee since that's the one I'd most like it get. I don't see Eevee itself as a cat-like Pokémon, but Leafeon looks so much like a Siamese cat! We actually got a Siamese (or part-Siamese) kitten a couple months ago and I just want to tape leaves to her ears and tail! xD If I get particularly lucky and score a female, I'd probably name the Leafeon after her. I may just try for Meowth/Persian though since this would be for my SoulSilver team and the only way to get a Shiny Eevee would be to SR for it. I don't like SRing. Dx

icycatelf October 24th, 2018 5:40 AM

I was doing some quick Shiny-hunting before bed (100 encounters), planning to leave Dark Cave after 25 to hunt elsewhere. Just as I was about to exit, #25 shined!

https://i.imgur.com/Dw5M97i.jpg

His nickname is Japanese for "angel," referencing one of Dunsparce's Abilities in later Gens., Serene Grace (Heavenly Blessing in the Japanese games), as well as his little white wings. Tenchi (heaven and earth) may have been more suitable, referencing the former as well as Dunsparce's burrowing habits, but I don't want to think of Tenchi Masaki every time I see him. xD

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lSRNrC6cRYg/U_xsKUCxHOI/AAAAAAAAAfk/OEgZQfhzKqE/s1600/tenchi_masaki_of_tenchi_muyo-14157.jpg

I'm ecstatic about this one. Shiny Dunsparce had been my favorite Pokémon for ages and I'd been trying for a full-odds one on-and-off for close to a year I think. I had only recently started considering Wartortle my favorite, but I wonder if finding this guy will encourage me to bump Dunsparce back up to #1?

Of course, now I've got to have Dunsparce on my team for the anime game. I guess I'll drop Misdreavus for him.

Darkpoké001 October 25th, 2018 12:35 PM

Jumped back onto Pokémon Y as I'd not really played it too much recently. Was just absent mindedly hunting in the friend safari and eventually ran into a HA shiny Braixen! Very happy with this as you could imagine, wanted shiny Delphox for awhile

This is my first post

Darkpoké001 October 29th, 2018 6:29 PM

I've just had THE most tense shiny battle I've ever had! After hunting for the past 3 hours I finally SOS'ed up a shiny Exeggcute!!

So I false swiped it and fainted the ally and then, for the next 40 ish turns it kept calling a new ally (brought NO pokemon with status inflicting moves with me so really thought I might lose it a silly error on my part).

Eventually it failed to call and I caught it but I'll have to be more prepared next time. Stressful.

Also, I managed to chain a shiny Wishiwashi yesterday too! I really like the schooling form with the gold details. Getting really good luck lately with the chain battles

-UPDATE-

I decided to go on a little hunt for Halloween and after around just an hour I can gladly say I can add a shiny Rockruff to my shiny list! The blue looks so amazing on it and was my quickest SOS hunt yet I believe.

https://i.imgur.com/uoCpzK4.jpg

And... now after 4 hours S/Ring I've finally had a shiny Chikorita come up for my new SoulSilver save! When I originally played I got a shiny Totodile on my first ever run and as I've decided to replay the game again I'm so happy to be able to use a shiny starter again!

My second full-odds Shiny in Ultra Sun!

https://i.imgur.com/0k8EMzl.jpg

I was trying for a better-natured Shiny Froslass, but I'll take it! I'm thinking about naming her Alaska or Zefir.

It's a shame that Snow Warning is only available as a Hidden Ability, but I'll probably raise her for use on a casual Ice-Monotype team anyway.

EDIT: Settled on Zefir and got her evolved and EV-trained. Now to level-up and work on her moveset! (Hopefully I can get that Snorunt/Froslass in the process.)

Hello all!! With this weekends community day in Pokemon Go, I got Shiny Cydaquil, which is now Typhlosion, which FINALLY bring my Rainbow Challenge to a close after almost exactly 10 months.. Grey was originally supposed to be this, but with ti dead in the center, I decided to cut it. I also caught Shiny Chikorita (Now Maganium) back in September.

Green: Minun
Purple: Swanna
Blue: Braviary
Cyan: Squirtle (Now Blastoise)
Black: Sandygast
White: Eevee
Pink: Barbaracle
Yellow: Floatzel
Orange: Charmander (Now a Charizard)
Red: Cyndaquil (Now Typhlosion)

Finished just in time for Let's Go. My original plan after I finished this, was to start Dragon Shiny Hunting, but I decided not to do that, so I don't know what I will do next. Maybe the legendary birds if they aren't shiny locked in Let's Go. Possibly also a Snorlax and Dragonite.

I might even make it a Kanto Quest, since we will be stuck in Kanto for the next year at least most likely.

Lrachelr5 November 19th, 2018 9:45 AM

So I decided to dabble in the new hunting method in Let's GO and have been successful in catching a shiny Nidoran Male (now Nidorino will be Nioking) and a shiny Vulpix who is now a beautiful shiny Ninetales

Maserati777 November 23rd, 2018 10:39 AM

I recently found a shiny Duskull in 90 Dexnav encounters.

icycatelf November 27th, 2018 6:07 PM

Not what I was hunting, but I found a Shiny Zigzagoon in Ruby. I named him Aki after an old tanuki OC of mine.

I suppose I'll take a little break from my Nincada hunt to EV-train him in LeafGreen, hoping to score a Shiny Meowth/Persian or Yanma in the process.

Darkpoké001 December 1st, 2018 3:12 AM

Hi guys, I've been away soft resetting on SoulSilver and, this morning, my patience paid off.

https://i.imgur.com/sHWU90B.jpg

After well over a week of soft resetting, Lugia finally shined! The colour is interesting to say the least but I'm so happy I've finally completed this hunt, and caught my first same game cover-legend shiny! (was an absolute pain to catch to and after Ampharos critically hit it I was really on edge)

https://i.imgur.com/CBmIi7z.jpg

icycatelf December 13th, 2018 7:47 AM

I didn't get that Shiny Meowth/Persian or Yanma while training my Shiny Zigzagoon/Linoone, but I did finally get my Shiny Nincada/Shedinja!

https://i.imgur.com/PO7CboH.jpg

I named Shedinja "Nimbus" after an old Shedinja of mine from the RSE days. It's now a member of my main team on Ultra Sun, but I cloned it a few times before transferring so that I could still use it on some of my older games (something I regret not doing with my Shiny Mothim). I finished leveling it up in SoulSilver hoping for a Shiny Sneasel, but no dice.

I also found a Shiny Pidgey while EV-training it in LeafGreen. I evolved my previous Shiny Pidgey (from HeartGold) into Pidgeotto, so I fully evolved this one into Pidgeot. I'm still in the process of EV-training Pidgeotto (no nickname yet), still hoping for Meowth/Persian, but I've been bouncing between hunts on other games.

Additionally, I caught Pokérus twice in the past few weeks (once in Ruby and once in SoulSilver). I didn't notice until after it expired, though. Dx

Maserati777 December 13th, 2018 4:59 PM

On the 22nd I found shiny Bellsprout #5 in 479 hordes, on the 24th I found shiny Weepinbell #3 in 182 hordes. I’m hunting for Ekans and Arbok.

On Dec 4th I found shiny Vanillite #10 in 3,846 random encounters in Frost Cavern hunting for Jynx.

On Dec 5th I found shiny Jynx in 3,989 random encounters, continuing from Vanillite. I previously found a shiny Smoochum back in Aug at the start of this hunt.

I found shiny Bellsprout #6 in 670 hordes on the 9th

I decided to take a break from horde hunting and jumped into friend safari going for Luxio. Found shiny Dedenne #2 on the 11th in 437, then #3 in 68 on the 12th and then #4 today in 44.

icycatelf December 16th, 2018 7:54 AM

Found a Shiny Ursaring in SoulSilver while hunting Sneasel:

https://i.imgur.com/qel5wGA.jpg

I've got mixed feelings about this one. Although I'm a fan of green, it seems out-of-place on Ursaring. Then again, the green kind of makes it look like some sort of nature spirit which is kind of cool. I imagine it looking like a mossy boulder at rest.

Darkpoké001 December 27th, 2018 1:46 PM

Hi guys, me again. I jumped back on Pokémon Moon yesterday and after a relatively quick hunt ( maybe less than an hour ) I'd encountered ANOTHER SOS chain shiny, this time, a shiny Dewpider! it appeared when I checked my phone ( shinies always seem to pop up when I'm not looking ) and I really like the look of it! Hope everyone had an amazing Christmas.

lillipup03 December 28th, 2018 10:01 AM

Had a bit of a Shiny drought lately but that ended when I was walking on Route 3 in Let's Go Eevee. A shiny Spearow came flying towards me! Unfortunately I couldn’t put it on my team since I was in the area trying to get the light up skill, and it was way below the level of my team, but still very exciting!

Hi everyone, it´s been a long time since my last post, sorry about that, been busy with exams and end of semester.
First of all, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2019.
Congrats on all shinies as well and hope this new year brings a lot of shinies too.

I haven't been able to hunt, but I'm currently on vacation and hope to catch some shiny dragons.
By the way, I don't know if I can post pokemon go shinies here or have to go to a thread specially for that, but a shiny is a shiny.

Here the pic:

Good thing it decided not to run, caught on december 28th and only have a week playing. Guess is like a starter luck.

Cya next time and happy hunting.

icycatelf January 5th, 2019 10:39 AM

Being a classic favorite of mine, I felt guilty about not having a Lickitung on any of my main teams since dropping the Shiny one I found in HeartGold from my Ultra Sun team (neglecting to clone it before the transfer). I decided to hunt another and got Lemmy in VC Gold today! :D

https://i.imgur.com/0MJlQhK.jpg

I'm thinking about changing his name to Limerick, sounding like two yellow edibles combined (lemon and turmeric), but idk.

Now my full-odds Shiny team in VC Gold is complete! (I may still replace a couple of them with Shinies I like more in the future though. A Shiny Jumpluff and Venomoth would be cool.)

Congrats on lickitung icycatelf

Quick update of my hunts:
Today found a shiny sawsbuck at dragonspiral tower in double grass.

Careful nature, female

Hope next time is Druddigon

Cya and happy hunting

icycatelf January 15th, 2019 10:48 AM

Eeee! My first full-odds Shiny Meowth! Her nature couldn't be much worse (not that I care much about natures these days), but cats FTW!

https://i.imgur.com/MkGkRNK.jpg

I've been wanting to get a Shiny Persian in FRLG for a while since it's practically white in these games, as opposed to other games where the normal and Shiny palette differences are barely noticeable (outside the pink ears), so now I've just got to evolve her and I'll have one!

Hello, everyone!

I decided to come for my triyearly SHC visit (has it really been that long?) and saw PokéCommunity's layout has all been flipped upside down. What a change! I see that what has not changed, however, is this very club's hunting spirit. A very late welcome to all our new members. Congratulations on all your successes of the past and present! It is particularly nice to see people hunting in Gens II, III, and IV. Really good efforts, icycatelf and Darkpoké001!

Special shout-out to Chr. Draco and G-Money, you diehard veterans. I seeeeeee yoooooooou!

I haven't done any hunting for a long while now, but that can always change at any time, especially with seeing all the activity around here. Good luck on all your hunts, everyone!

Hey everyone, I just posted yesterday in PGC about a new shiny hunting tool that I've been working on and finally released. Getting some feedback on it would be super helpful and I'd love to see some people actually using it!

The post is here with all the important information about it: https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=417271

Reclaim Shiny! Sort of.

https://i.imgur.com/y8lVZ0P.jpg

My very first Shiny was Golbat way back in the GSC days, but I lost it with a save years ago and surprisingly never found another full-odds Shiny Zubat/Golbat until now. Funny enough, like my original Shiny Golbat, I also found this Shiny Zubat in an icy cave area.

Not what I was looking for, but still very welcome!

G-Money February 12th, 2019 1:19 PM

SHINYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Graveler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Woot woot, my first shiny of 2019!! As a new shiny for me, Graveler's color really surprised me when it came across the screen, haha. It's like an off-orange that's surprisingly striking. I've never liked Graveler as a Pokémon and always kinda thought of him as just some lame rock who occupies caves, but shiny Graveler looks really cool, and the fifth-gen graphics look really nice on it. I found it at 3:21 PM while hunting for shiny Sableye in Challenger's Cave on Black, and it appeared on encounter #10,868 of the Phase and encounter #34,701 since I started hunting Sableye. Now I have two Woobat and a Graveler to show for this hunt - on to Phase IV!

Astoundingly, I hadn't caught a Graveler on Black yet (for real, G-Money???), so I got to see the cool shiny Graveler Pokédex entry!! I couldn't take a picture, though, since my potato's memory is full, "lol!"

When the Graveler appeared, I immediately switched to my Damp Quagsire, and sure enough, I switched right into a Selfdestruct!! "lol" good thing I brought along my Damp Poké - those abilities really do help in shiny hunting!!! :laugh-squinted: I had Quagsire use Yawn, and then I decided to start chucking Great Balls. I know that Great Balls are one of the uncoolest Balls, but I thought it'd be approriate since they're kind of overlooked (I pretty much always just skip straight from Poké Balls to Ultras in my games, "lol!") and so is Graveler, both being the intermediary versions of their respective trios. The first attempt didn't work, but then shiny Graveler fell asleep and my second Great Ball attempt was a critical capture!

I named it Igneo, since it's brightly colored and kind of has the hue of an igneous rock (I don't actually know what igneous rocks look like and I think they're actually a dark black, but its bright coloring reminded me of lava and since that's a part of igneous rock formation, I thought it'd make a cool name for a rock Poké).

So I guess you could say that this shiny...

Spoiler:
:laugh: ...rocks!!! :laugh:

*crowd groans and throws tomatoes at G-Money*

Hmm, maybe I should've gone with something a little...

Spoiler:
...boulder!

*drops mic*

------------------------------------

Congrats on all the new shinies! icycat, Darkpoké001, and Maserati have had particularly impressive runs since my last post!

Those puns tho. xD

Congrats on the Shiny Graveler! That was the first Shiny that ever got away from me, but I fortunately reclaimed it as a Geodude... last year I think? Still need to get around to evolving it and figure out a good name for a female Golem. I really like the name you gave yours!

I got Hau'i's name from the Hawaiian word for frostbite, since he's a bitey Pokémon that I found in an icy area. Now if only Zubat/Golbat/Crobat could learn Ice Fang!

G-Money February 20th, 2019 11:27 AM

So I remembered a couple of days ago that I was in the middle of playing Pearl, which I started in 2014. I'm doing a modified Nuzlocke, where I'm allowed to bring a Pokémon back to life if I get a shiny, "lol!" (I started off doing the Nuzlocke with the rule where you're only allowed to visit every Pokémon Center once, but I stopped doing that about halfway through since it was super not-fun and I found myself skipping Trainer battles and everything since the total health I had was limited, haha. It's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more fun to play with infinite Pokémon Center visits!!! You can actually enjoy the game and level up your team and everything! :wink-right-eye:)

I got shiny Misdreavus back in 2015 to revive my starter, but then I totally forgot about Pearl, "lol." I started up again a couple of days ago and saw that I only had 4 badges, so I continued my journey, but on only my second day back, disaster struck!! A tragic calamity befell my team last night - my dear Finneon, whom I was so proud of and thought was a really clever and creative team member choice since I'd never used one before (and hadn't ever even considered having a fished Pokémon on my team but only thought of it to deal with the Nuzlocke rule of only being able to catch the first Pokémon you encounter for each Route), was felled in battle against a lowly Machop! I was aghast and crestfallen, seeing my Water-type star fall so soon after our reunion.

I would not stand for this. Finneon had been such a cool choice for my team and I'd really loved using it (along with my shiny Misdreavus, "lol!" :laugh:) that I just had to get it back!! So this morning, I doubled back to the Valley Windworks (I don't even have a Flier yet, haha!) since that's where some cool Sinnoh Pokémon are, and I resigned myself to put my Pearl game on hold once again so that I could revive my cherished Finn.

It was a real bummer, since I had just gotten back into Pearl (OMG GenIV graphics are the best!!! Sinnoh is such a fantastic region aesthetically and all the Pokémon there are so awesome!!), and now I'd have to spend months and months on end before being able to even carry on in the game. But I thought about it and realized that it'd be way more fun to play with a cool Finneon on my team, so I figured I'd toil away doing random encounters in the Valley Windworks for however many weeks or months it might take.

So I started dual-hunting when I got up today, with Pearl's Valley Windworks on one DS and Black's Challenger's Cave on the other (I put Snivy on pause since I really want to get back to playing Pearl, haha). And less than three hours after I started hunting...

Spoiler:
Shiny Shellos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :pink_boogie: :laugh: :boogie: :pink_laugh:

Haha, this one was pretty unexpected!! I was totally looking at this taking weeks, but I'm absolutely psyched about this one!!! :boogie: The one hunt that had an impact on me getting back to my adventure, and this shiny is the one that decides to shine super quickly - it only took 417 encounters!! Shellos shone on my very first day of hunting, today at 1:37 PM!

I brought along a Kricketune just because it knew Sing, so I used Sing on the first turn and then caught it on the first Premier Ball attempt! The pink of the shiny is really minutely different from the regular, so when it first started rolling across the screen, I was all like, "OMG is that a shiny!!? Wait, they're normally pink and so is this one...actually, it seems like it might be a different color than usual...hmm, let's see if the stars start spinning once it gets to its place...OMG SHINY!!!" "lol" it seemed like a super long time while it rolled across the screen, haha! :laugh:

It's pink, so obviously "Pinky" was one of the first nickname ideas I came up with for it, being the creative mastermind that I am. But I didn't want to name it Pinky since it's a male, so I named him Clyde.

Also, I updated my sig for the first time in over three years!!!

Hahaha, I knew it would be something awesome!!! That's a terrific nickname, and a terrific reason, too! It's amazingly cool that you even knew the Hawaiian word for frostbite, "lol!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EDIT: OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG you'll never believe this!!!!!!!
So I was going to go continue my Pearl game, and I decided to play in bed to enjoy the adventure (once again with Finneon!!!) in max comfort, "lol." But first, I took a shower and figured I'd shiny hunt a bit at the desk while my hair dried so my pillow wouldn't get wet, haha.
So in the brief time that I was waiting for my hair to dry, I put White 2 back into my 3DS and went back to dual-hunting Snivy and Sableye. And after just a few encounters for each, at 4:36 PM, who shows up but...
Spoiler:
SHINY BOLDORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG! :laugh: :boogie: What a cool shiny!!!!! This is one of the best-looking shinies ever!!! It came on encounter #4999 of the Phase (since I caught Graveler) and #39,700 since I started hunting Sableye.
Boldore was one of MetalMario's favorite shinies, and he always had the absolute best taste in shinies, so if he thought it was a cool shiny, you know it's a cool shiny. :pink_laugh:
Boldore arrived at 4:36 PM, less than 3 hours after Shellos, "lol!" I immediately switched to my Damp Quagsire because I don't know if it knows Selfdestruct or not, and then I tried a Dusk Ball. No luck on the first attempt, but then I threw a Luxury Ball, and that one worked! It's kind of fitting to have a super valuable, rare gem Pokémon in a Luxury Ball, haha!
I named her Gemini, since that's a cool name...and it has gem in it, "lol!" :laugh: It's also kind of like a twin to my shiny Graveler!
Maserati777 February 24th, 2019 12:24 PM
In Aug 2017 I started hunting simultaneously in hordes and hatching eggs for a shiny Nidoran f. Between X & Y, I found 25 shinies in hordes before finding the female shiny one year later.
After I found the shiny I gave up on the eggs, I had hatched 3,215 eggs.
In Dec I put a Venonat in the daycare and today I hatched my shiny Venonat in only 270 eggs. I know each egg hatched has the same odds but I can’t help but feel like the Nidorans and Venonats were one chain of eggs. Also that the Nidorans were shiny locked in my game in eggs. Only thing worse then hatching 3200 eggs would be hatching a shiny male after 3200 eggs.
G-Money February 25th, 2019 1:49 PM
SHINY SNIVY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yee-haw!! I'd been going after this guy for a while, haha! I had originally done 555 Snivy SRs on White, but then I played through the game right before I got Black 2 so that I could remember the story before going into the sequels, haha. I got White 2 for Christmas in 2015, and I've been SRing for Snivy a bit every winter since then. This wasn't my longest hunt by number of resets, but it sure felt like the longest by time - each reset takes forever on these guys, haha! I got like a bazillion shinies while having non-shiny Snivy on my other DS, "lol!" :laugh-squinted:
Snivy shone on #13,113, at 1:19 PM today. On to Oshawott! :pink_boogie:
Congrats on the Venonat, Maserati! I've always thought that Venonat has one of the very best color schemes of any shiny. And a super huge congrats on finally getting one of those eggs to shine!! :boogie:
I think your Nidoran♀ hunt might hold the record for most Phases of any shiny hunt ever, "lol!" :laugh:
*hopes his Sableye hunt doesn't go 26 Phases*
___________________________________________________________________
EDIT 2/27/2019: Shiny Mawile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another Challenger's Cave shiny! Haha, I'm sure glad I picked here to hunt Sableye - there are so many cool shinies to be found!!! Mawile appeared today (February 27th) at 4:23 PM on encounter #4382, and #44082 since I started hunting Sableye.
This was my first shiny that put up resistance in a while, taking 8 Luxury Balls to get captured. It kept dodging my Musharna's Hypnosis, too, so this thing put up quite a fight, haha! :laugh-squinted:
I think Mawile was originally found in R/S in that tower where you get Rayquaza, so I named her Raia. Bad backstory, but I'm pretty happy with the name!
I've also officially passed 999 hours and 59 minutes for Black, "lol!" :pink_laugh: On to Phase - *counts on fingers* - VI for Sableye! :boogie:
xSmokeMusicx March 8th, 2019 12:09 PM
Ridiculously long, unnecessary, and mildly embellished version of this post:
Spoiler:
Spring 2007:
A young trainer entered Mt. Coronet, determined to capture the legendary Pokémon of time: Dialga. But he wasn't searching for just any legend of time. He wanted to become a legendary shiny hunter. His Dialga would shine, and he wouldn't leave the mountain until he found what he came for.
He searched day and night, but the Sinnoh landmark would not be conquered by just any traveler. Using the full range of his Pokémon's capabilities - their Strength, their Surf, their Rock Smash, and even their vaunted Rock Climb - the young trainer kept the faith that he and his Pokémon would prevail. They searched high and low, but the fabled shiny of the mountain was nowhere to be found.
He would not accept defeat. Setting up camp on the snowy summit, the trainer continued his hunt. Days passed, and soon weeks turned into months. But he was determined not to leave until the shiny Dialga was his.
July 31st, 2007:
At long last, the hunter bravely weathered the blistering cold of Mt. Coronet's peak and stepped forth onto the very apex of the Sinnoh region - the Spear Pillar itself. And there, waiting at long last to meet the fearless hunter, was the noble legend of time: the great green Dialga.
With a Luxury Ball, the young hunter captured the legend, taking the first step on his path to becoming a Legendary Shiny Hunter.
August 21st, 2007:
Less than a month after Dialga's capture, the young hunter discovered a small cavern in the center of one of Sinnoh's three lakes. Spending many days in search once again, he was rewarded with a prize of tremendous power and wisdom: the shiny Uxie, guardian of the lake. But that was not enough.
In the far northern region of Sinnoh, the elders speak of three ancient entities that were involved from the beginning of time itself. These three entities were said to be Dialga, the legend of time; Palkia, the legend of space, and Giratina, the legend of Ghost, that incorporeal essence which is the epitome of all coolness. These Dragons were the true legends, those whose unfathomable powers inspired awe in whatever passersby had the fortune to traverse their graceful regard.
The young trainer needed to find the other two. While Uxie was a powerful shiny, it paled in comparison to the roaring Dialga. So the hunter set out once more, scouring far and wide to discover the other two shinies of the Creation Trio mentioned in folklore from time immemorial.
November 17th, 2008:
The hunter stared in awe at the being before him. At last, it had appeared!!! The legendary Giratina. A battle for the ages ensued, with the blue spectre finally succumbing to a Time Ball, quite fitting coming from the trainer who'd already captured the legend of time.
Just one more to go. One final legend of Sinnoh, and the trio would be complete.
But alas, the legends of the realm do not bow to just any hunter of shinies. They test one's might, and require the greatest of fortitude in one's heart. The legends are no ordinary shiny Pokémon - they are towering behemoths that exude power and radiance, only presenting themselves to the most worthy of hunters.
With his triumph over Giratina, this hunter now had successfully captured 12 shinies. But even with the aid of 12 shiny Pokémon, he was far from worthy of appearing before the legend of space itself.
May 20th, 2011:
After several years had passed, the hunter had gained admission into the pinnacle of shiny hunting society, an organization known as the "Shiny Hunters Club." With several more shinies captured, he dared to challenge the third and final member of the Creation Trio, hoping to cement his name as a shiny hunting legend:
Challenging the master of space, he deigned call forth the final colossus of Sinnoh's trio, time and time again. But the beast would not shine. The battle raged for days and days and days atop Mt. Coronet, but the legend would not deem the hunter worthy. How could one who has not even captured a minute fraction of the small, weak Pokémon that scurry in the tall grass claim the mantle of hunter of shiny legends??
Rending the fabric of space itself, the beast tore open a portal and ejected the hunter from the mountaintop, exiling him to the lowly grasslands of a distant region. He would spend the next seven years and three months searching far and wide, capturing shinies of all shapes and sizes, of varying powers and types.
But none held a candle to the monolithic Palkia. These tiny starter and grassland Pokémon would not be of any use in capturing the Dragon of ancient lore. Nonetheless, the hunter carried on with his quest, vowing to return one day with a massive army of shiny Pokémon to challenge the mighty beast and claim the lofty title to which he so boldly aspired.
March 7th, 2019:
The grizzled veteran - no longer the youthful hunter he once was - reflected upon his recent string of victories. He'd been seeking a shiny Sableye in the Unova region, to no avail. While this Pokémon was but a weak cave-dweller compared to the fearsome Giratina over whom he'd claimed victory in his youth, the cave boasted a number of formidable Pokémon in its own right. There was the exploding Graveler, a large rock monster capable of demolishing any unsuspecting traveler with its Explosion; the respectable Boldore, a cornucopia of gems and valuable stones whose Rock powers could take down even the most cautious of trainers; and the noble Mawile, a mischievous demon of Steel whose unrelenting jaws were the subject of scary tales around campfires the world over.
And the hunter had caught all three. With the addition of Mawile, his collection had grown to 78, a sizeable number compared to the meager 12 he'd boasted after the grueling battle with Giratina 11 years prior. While most were small, grass-scurrying Pokémon, they were all capable shinies nonetheless, and the recent additions of Graveler, Boldore, and Mawile emboldened him to once again seek the sparkling legend of space.
And so on March 7th, 2019, he ascended the treacherous slopes of Mt. Coronet once more.
March 11th, 2019:
The hunter arrived at the pinnacle of Sinnoh, surrounded by those relics of antiquity that give the Spear Pillar its name. Taking in his surroundings, the hunter glanced a swirl of blue stars out of the corner of his eye...
And there it was. At long last, shiny Palkia was his to confront. Standing firm atop the mountain, he gazed directly into the eye of the beast.
And with a thunderous roar, the beast challenged the hunter, now worthy of combat after so many arduous years of battles with lesser shinies. The hunter sent out Modesto, a Sychronize Kadabra who'd been captured and trained solely for this one moment. This was his time to shine.
But the mighty legend had no pity for the weak. It instantly launched a pulse of water at the Psychic, whose pedestrian stature was nothing more than a speck of sand in the shadow of the towering Dragon.
The hunter called Modesto back to its Poké Ball, replacing it with yet another weak grassbound Pokémon: Karla, the cheerful Kricketune.
Karla's pitiful size did not preclude it from exhibiting great utility, however. Her melodious Sing put the legend of space to sleep, allowing the trainer to toss Heal Balls at the elusive shiny. But the first capture attempt failed, as did the subsequent.
Palkia woke up.
Karla tried once more to lull the beast to sleep, but Palkia would not fall for the same deceptive maneuver twice. With a Spacial Rend, it tore open a portal of space and sent the feeble Bug to its doom. The hunter mourned for the loss of his comrade, a noble veteran of his long Nuzlocke journey that would now have to be laid to rest. So fell Karla.
Fearing the permanent loss of yet another trusted team member, the hunter paused before sending another friend into the battle. He settled on the strongiest, bulkiest, most reliable member of his squad: Finn, the unyielding Lumineon.
Finn was the team member of whom the trainer was most proud, boasting mighty defenses and tremendous coverage for a Water-type companion. Finn was such an integral part of the team that, after he had fallen in battle once before, the entire team had journeyed clear across the region in search of a shiny so that he might be revived, ultimately enlisting the aid of one shiny Shellos named Clyde.
Thus emerged Finn from his Ball, ready to take a hit or two to give his trainer enough time to capture the legend he'd sought for so many years.
The hunter readied another Heal Ball in his hand, determined to capture the pink shiny in a pink Ball, one whose sparkly aesthetic meshed so well with the glisten of shiny Pokémon.
And then it happened...
Spoiler:
...he launched the Heal Ball, and shiny Palkia was captured!!! :laugh:
Short version:
Spoiler:
I caught shiny Palkia!!! :pink_boogie: It's my first shiny legendary since 2008!!! :boogie: :laugh: It came at 10:21 PM on March 11th. It was encounter #7703 overall, but I had done 5702 encounters back in 2011, so it only took 4 days and 2001 encounters since I started back up this year. I caught it on the fourth Heal Ball attempt, and I'm lucky I saw the blue stars out of the corner of my eye when it appeared since I'd have never known it was shiny otherwise, "lol!" I actually didn't save until after I went back to the box and checked to make sure it was shiny because the normal version and the shiny one are so similar, "lol!" But this was a shiny I'd wanted for a really long time, so I'm really glad I have it now!! :boogie:
And the Modest sync worked, too!!! :pink_boogie:
Thus concludes my "Hunt Zero"!
EDIT 3/19/2019:
Spoiler:
Shiny Azelf!!!
I lost my starter (again, "lol") so I figured I'd SR for a shiny Azelf before heading on to face the eighth gym. So I went for another shiny legendary, and now I have 5!!! :pink_boogie: Azelf shone on encounter #6096, and I caught it on the very first Quick Ball attempt! It didn't even get to get a move in, "lol!" :laugh: And unlike Palkia, it's a really distinct shiny, with colors that are really strikingly different from the original.
The Timid sync worked, too! That's two powerful legendaries in a row that I got with the perfect nature, haha. I was totally expecting the level 4 Abra to get wrecked, but that Quick Ball working right away meant my whole team escaped without any damage whatsoever! :boogie:
I got it at 8:18 PM on March 19th, 2019 and nicknamed it Gathril. Azelf was commonly used a lead in GenIV competitive battles, and Joey Gathright was one of my leadoff hitters in MVP Baseball 2005, so it seemed to fit, haha! :laugh: Getting his name on a legendary shiny Pokémon is but the latest great accomplishment of the obscure Devil Rays center fielder, "lol!"
I really like the way I can put this on my banner - back in 2007, Uxie was the first shiny I got after Dialga, and now Azelf is my first shiny after Palkia. On the banner in my sig, both Dialga and Palkia are the first shiny on their "line" (multiples of 6 before the banner resets), so it's a nice bit of symmetry, haha. That is, it will be once I get around to updating it, hahahahaha! :laugh-squinted:
--------------------------------
In other Pearl news, I managed to find three shiny Clefairy!!!!!!!!!
...on the slot machines at the Veilstone Game Corner, "lol!" I had never considered using TMs before in a pre-GenV game, but having the really good TMs as prizes makes them kind of reusuable, in a way. I was able to teach Ice Beam to Finn and Psychic to my shiny Misdreavus! This makes the game a lot more fun, hahahaha!! :pink_laugh:
Joining! In Ultra Moon, I have (spoilered for length):
Spoiler:
  • Periwinkle the Thundurus (My first shiny hunt!)
  • Azurite the Cobalion
  • Aurum the Nihilego
  • Ebony the Furfrou (F) (SOS chained)
  • Tourmaline the Oricorio (F) (SOS chained)
  • Drowzee (F) (SOS chained)
  • Hypno (M) (SOS chained) (How come I never named these two??)
  • Pastelle the Blissey (SOS chained - sorta. I chained Chansey for level grinding purposes, with the idea in the back of my mind that I might find a shiny. She was already a Blissey when I caught her.)
  • Lime the Pelipper (F) (Randomly encountered)
  • Minky the Granbull (F) (Randomly encountered)
    I SOS chained all the Eeveelutions last December to increase my hype for getting Let's Go Eevee for Christmas:
  • Dasher the Leafeon (M)
  • Dancer the Espeon (M)
  • Prancer the Flareon (M)
  • Vixen the Glaceon (F)
  • Comet the Vaporeon (M)
  • Cupid the Sylveon (M)
  • Donner the Umbreon (M) (NOTE: I caught him as an Umbreon)
  • Blitzen the Jolteon (M)
  • Rudolph the unevolved Eevee (M)
    And, of course, my Wormhole shinies:
  • Strelitzia the Swellow (F)
  • Radon the Crustle (M)
  • Uno the Altaria (F) (Named because I found her in a one-ring wormhole)
  • Goldstone the Grumpig (M)
  • Porfirio the Swanna (M)
  • Longview the Floatzel (F)
  • Dallas the Floatzel (M)
  • ★G★A★U★D★Y★ the Yanmega (M) (I was in a silly mood, okay)
  • Jammy the Heliolisk (M)
  • Sierra the Hippowdon (F)
  • Borealis the Abomasnow (M)
  • Mars the Drapion (F)
  • Spirit the Nuzleaf (F)
  • Candi the Barbaracle (F)
  • Berry Blast the Quagsire (F)
In Let's Go Eevee, so far I only have a shiny Beedrill, chained in Viridian Forest as a Weedle - her name is Vespa, and she's the "starter" of my all-shiny playthrough. (Because you can't actually get Eevee shiny...)
My next hunt will be Charmander. Chaining it in Route 3 sounded a bit daunting, so I decided I'm gonna soft-reset for the gift Charmander instead. ^_^
Noblejanobii March 22nd, 2019 12:18 AM
I'd love to join but I'm afraid to say I have very bad shiny hunting luck. My only successful shiny hunts have been in pokemon X with chain fishing. I got a blue stripe basculin, a luvdisc, and a Claucher. I've had my fair share of random encounters of the years. First non-event shiny was a random encounter Psyduck in Heartgold, then a Yamask in White, two shiny Rattata in Firered, and then I have a notorious Diamond nuzlocke run I did about a year ago that I encounter four random shinies on (I don't have the cartridge on me at the moment cause I'm studying abroad but I'd be happy to submit picture proof later on). But that doesn't really count as hunting now does it. XD
Currently in Omega Ruby I have a Masuda Method Cyndaquil hunt that's at about 3000 eggs. It's been running on and off for a few years so I'm not sure the exact count but it's enough that I've filled my entire PC system a few times. On my Moon file I have been soft resetting for Type: Null with 1298 resets thus far. Both these hunts are currently paused just because I don't have the cartridges with me. The hunt that I do still have going on is my masuda method Mawile hunt on Ultra Sun with 1431 eggs hatched thus far. Hoping to get a shiny soon out of that.
Darkpoké001 March 23rd, 2019 3:12 AM
Good morning all, I've claimed another shiny!
I've recently restarted Black 2 and decided to shiny hunt (I've only ever found two random shinies in gen 5) and after hunting in dark grass on this (and on White on another DS) a Trubbish shined on my Black 2! there's not too many methods to hunt shinies in gen 5 but in a way, it makes it feel much more valuable when one does!
https://i.imgur.com/BVxFQij.jpg
-UPDATE-
and now, at two in the morning, I ran into a SHINY KARRABLAST through random encounter! (again on Black 2)! it's so cool seeing the old shiny sprites and I'm hoping to hunt down more.
Hello.
G-Money invited me to check this place out.
I've got a handful of shinies, most in AS and LGE.
AS:
Platinum:
Fire Red:
Crystal:
(Sadly the game was on it's last legs when I caught this one so I lost it shortly after)
Go:
I don't currently have screenshots of my LGE shinies. That would take a while. XD I've got:
- Pikachu x2
- Raichu
- Ratatta
- Radicate
- Spearow x2
- Fearow
- Hypno
- Mr. Mime
- Pidgey
- Pidgeotto
- Psyduck
- Bellsprout
- Vulpix
- Charizard
- Bulbasaur
- Venusaur
(note: I had to ignore shinies of almost every Pokemon in the Veridian Forest during the Bulbasaur hunt, as painful as it was >_<)
- Cubone
- Ryhorn
Currently hunting/soft resetting:
Meowth in LGE, half to level up my Psyduck.
Rowlett in Moon.
G-Money March 27th, 2019 12:26 PM
Welcome to the SHC, everyone!! I'm so glad you all joined!! :pink_boogie:
With the announcement of GenVIII, I realized that I haven't gotten any GenVII shinies yet, "lol!" So I picked up my Sandygast hunt on Moon, and I've been hatching eggs there for a while. I also realized that I only have one Ghost/starter from GenVI (Honedge), so I've started hatching Fennekin eggs in X as well. I've hatched about 2700 Fennekin so far, so hopefully I'm over halfway there!
And my Oshawott hunt seems to be going much faster than my Snivy one did - I'm already up to 3425 SRs! :laugh-squinted:
Haha, "notorious Diamond nuzlocke" sounds like you have some cool stories to tell, "lol!" :pink_laugh: I'm actually doing a Pearl Nuzlocke right now where I'm using shinies as excuses to bring back my team members, haha! :laugh: I've gotten four so far by hunting them, but I couldn't imagine getting four totally random. You must have crazy good luck!!
Congrats on the Trubbish and Karrablast, Darkpoké! I'd never seen what shiny Karrablast looked like before your photo, and I had no idea it looked so awesome!!! Cyan is, like, my favorite color, haha! :love:
I've since changed that, her name is Gypsy now, influenced by the design of the Pokemon...I think. I haven't played Platinum in a while.
Finally finished my full-odds Omanyte hunt! I wasn't keeping count (I never keep count anymore), but this was definitely one of my longest hunts (third or second, I think).
https://i.imgur.com/pjVaSQI.jpg
I'm thinking about naming him Gon (long O, like Gon from Hunter x Hunter) in reference to my worn Goniatite fossil.
Also, with this, I think I want to update my team for the anime game.
https://i.imgur.com/JFlbfA6.jpg
https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/heartgold-soulsilver/shiny/dunsparce.pnghttps://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/platinum/normal/wartortle.pnghttps://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/platinum/normal/persian.pnghttps://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/heartgold-soulsilver/normal/mothim.pnghttps://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/heartgold-soulsilver/normal/shedinja.pnghttps://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/heartgold-soulsilver/normal/omanyte.png
Shiny Dunsparce: My sentimental favorite and pretty much my mascot.
Wartortle: My favorite Pokémon design. One could even say that Squirtle was my Starter Pokémon. It may not have been my first in the games, but it was supposedly my first Pokémon toy (in the form of a candy dispenser). I also remember catching a turtle when I was younger and keeping it as a pet (though I ended up turning it loose).
Persian: I live with cats, one of my own, so I've got to have a cat Pokémon on my team!
Mothim: I've been really into moths for the past 5 years or so and can't help but see myself with a Mothim. (I've yet to see any adult bagworm moths, but I have seen at least two species of bagworm caterpillar.)
Shedinja: Such a clever concept! I already thought it was cool with its unique Ability and obtaining method, but it wasn't until having an outbreak of periodical cicadas and finding their shells all over the place that I really came to appreciate its concept. Definitely a Pokémon I could see myself having IRL.
Omanyte: I enjoy fossil-hunting. While most of the fossils here are plant-related, I did luck out one day and find a Goniatite ammonoid in the creek. These tiny spiral-shelled squids aren't "true" ammonites like Omanyte was based on, but they're closely-related.
So, my first post here, huh. Well, I've been playing pokemon liquid crystal (rom hack of fire red) and I have 7 shinies (most of them being legendaries, but oh well. Still difficult as all hell to catch). Here's a picture of my umbreon.
Lucifer April 14th, 2019 1:42 PM
I've been a bit distracted with Snakewood but landed Shiny Squirtle in LGE (I apologize for the pretty bad image quality):
G-Money April 27th, 2019 7:00 PM
A huge congrats to all SHC members - your awesomeness has won us Club of the Month!!! :pink_boogie:
https://i.postimg.cc/CKq7Yg6N/4-K7dp52-1.png
So I was training up my team in Pearl to take on the Elite Four, and I was Surfing in Pastoria City to raise up a Noctowl. I had just lost my starter (AGAIN!), and a Noctowl was the next-best Pokémon that I had caught, but it was nowhere near the rest of my team, level-wise. It had some good Psychic moves, though, so the Surfing spot in Pastoria seemed like a good place to take out some Tentacool and raise it up until it became a viable, battle-ready team member.
And then, on March 28th at 2:39 PM, who shows up but...
SHINY WINGULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haha, I didn't even know Wingull appeared here, so when it showed up, I was all like, "Huh, those wings seem...OMG SHINY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" "lol" I caught it on my first Premier Ball throw, so now I've got the team I want again! :boogie:
Over the last month, I've been hunting Oshawott on one DS and alternating Fennekin hatching, Sandygast hatching, and Sableye encountering on the other. But today, April 27th, at 5:07 PM...
SHINY OSHAWOTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:pink_boogie: Yeah! Oshawott shone on encounter #8473. After Snivy took many, many years, it was really nice to get Oshawott after only two months, "lol!" It's Timid, which seems to be a good nature for an Oshawott. It's funny to get a number so close to the expectation, haha!
Shiny Oshawott doesn't really look that different from the original, so I was watching the number on the Summary screen (it turns red for shinies!) and for the little star to tell if it was shiny, "lol."
I've also noticed that on the Summary screen, Oshawott actually rips off his chest, tosses it, snags it out of mid-air, and then reattaches it to his torso. It's one of the coolest and most unexpected things I've ever seen, "lol!" :laugh:
Huge congrats on the shiny Omanyte, icycat!! The photo with the fossil and the penny is really striking - I had no idea they were that small!!!
I'm also glad you posted the anime game again - now the newer members can see it, and they can post their teams if they want! I'm really surprised to see you take out Lickitung, though! :disbelief:
What are the other six shinies you've gotten?
You're the first I've ever seen refer to Oshawott's "scalchop" as its chest. I suppose the shell is part of its body, though!
Thanks! Congrats on your newbies, too (and for making CotM), and good luck going forward!
Not all ammonoid fossils are that tiny. While some specimens are even smaller than mine, some exceed 5 feet in diameter! The largest I have is about 2.5" (excluding the matrix), but I got that one on eBay. I reckon we've just got these little guys in my general area.
I love Lickitung (I was tickled to see it in the Detective Pikachu trailers), but I'm trying to pick Pokémon I could actually see myself having IRL based on my hobbies outside of Pokémon or whose real-life origins I've encountered. Dunsparce was the only exception, being the Pokémon I most associate myself with.
I have a Latias, suicune, ditto (although I dunno if that counts because it was traded), jirachi, gyarados (that was the lake of rage shiny, so I don't know if that counts either), and a castform. Although the next pokemon I'm gonna hunt for is a charmander (there's a guy who gives you one in celedon I think).
Next up is Gastly. I'm in the Pokemon Tower with a lure and a Zubat chain of 65-ish that I'd started in Rock Tunnel to level up my Psycduck now.
I did score a shiny Zubat as well. I'll take a picture later tonight.
After shiny Venonat I moved to Route 14 to horde hunt for Ekans. After 9 shiny Bellsprout and 4 shiny Skorupi I found shiny Ekans. It appeared at 237 hordes after the last Bellsprout. In total I saw 483 Ekans hordes. I really like the fact in XY you can stay on a route forever in clear weather and it won’t start raining unless you turn the game off or go in a building. Instead of healing at a Pokemon center I relied on potions to heal.
I've been playing Moon for the past several days. I've finished two trials.
There I was just strolling out of the little junkyard area where I obtained the Sleep Talk TM on route 6, I'm frustrated out of my skull because my Eevee refuses to evolve into an Espeon and BAM, totally random shiny Mudbray pops up. Not as an SOS but as the initial encounter!
WeyounRagnarok May 24th, 2019 2:44 AM
I don't remember when I last posted here, but the list of shinies I've caught is a very long one, so I'm just going to list the ones I've gotten in the last month:
Omega Ruby:
DexNav: Wobbuffet, Stantler, Cherrim, Taillow, Shroomish, Slakoth (x2)
Moon:
SOS: Smeargle, Slowpoke
Masuda: Treecko (x3), Mudkip (x3)
Ultra Moon:
SOS: Larvitar
Y: Friend Safari: Gastrodon, Trapinch (x3)
Still working on Shiny Gastly in LGE but have been occupied in Moon.
I started to soft reset for shiny Lunala last night but then it dawned on me to check for a shiny lock and sure enough Google seems adement that there is one. Damn it! Shiny Lunala is badass beautiful!
Would it be wrong if I hacked it shiny via Powersaves under these circumstances?
I ended up doing so for a shiny Rowlet after spending the around two years since I received the game for Christmas soft resetting for it with no success and a handful of botched attempts that might have been successes (dropping the 3DS and letting the battery die).
I'm not even exaggerating that length of time. I figured I'd earned the right after that, it's far more than a respectable legit attempt.
Donkeyote, however, who is now a badass level 56 Mudsdale is 100% legit, I assure you hence why I shared him here and not my shiny Rowlet.
Mudbray is NOT a Pokemon I was even interested in using until I found this shiny one and even then was NOT expecting how useful he'd become.
(I'd thought about changing his name when I realized that when Mudbray evolves he becomes a horse but couldn't bring myself to).
On cartridge I've generally preferred to remain legit and save all the hacking for ROMs. It's not my fault that the Shiny Rowlet line is just so gorgrous that I borderline can't stand the regular.
Maserati777 June 11th, 2019 3:27 AM
I recently found a female shiny Riolu in Friend Safari. I recently found 8 Throh and 3 Meinfoo in this FS looking for it. I used cute charm recently in order to find less Throh was surprised to find the shiny be female.
EmTheGhost June 15th, 2019 9:04 AM
AAAAH! I got a shiny Rattata in Let's Go Eevee! I gave up on soft-resetting for the gift Charmander and decided to chain one, but I found this instead! I called him Dove, because that's the name of a color a rat can be. I'm not gonna evolve him - shiny Raticate is less striking, and Let's Go is the game for making weak Pokemon into powerhouses. (Especially with all the candy I accumulate doing these chains.) Oh! And not only is Dove shiny, he's also tiny - 9 inches! What a rare and precious little critter! 😘
(I think I'll put off starting another Charmander chain until I get to Rock Tunnel.)
Evening all.
It's been awhile since I've given an update regarding my shiny hunting and I've had a couple of decent successes.
My first was a shiny Tailow I finally managed to encountered via Dexnav in Omega Ruby, shiny Swellow really looks amazing 🙂
My second was a shiny Sandygast, a shiny I've really wanted for awhile, the deep black sand is such an amazing design and the amount of Sand-Attacks my team had to endure in the SOS chain process made me so grateful I finally succeeded in capturing one
SHINY BOLDORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Hahahahahaha, it's been a while since my last one! :laugh-squinted: This shiny Boldore came today at 3:46 PM on encounter #9782 (since I found Mawile), and #54864 overall since I started hunting in Challenger's Cave for Sableye. This second Boldore is my sixth shiny of the hunt, joining two Woobat, a Graveler, my first shiny Boldore, and a Mawile! Let's see if Sableye shines soon or if he keeps throwing these decoy shinies at me, "lol!" :pink_laugh:
Upon encountering it, I immediately switched to my Damp Quagsire (I don't know whether Boldore knows Selfdestruct/Explosion at this level, "lol!") and proceeded to capture the shiny Boldore on my first Dusk Ball attempt.
It took me a while to figure out how to do the quotes with PC's new format, but I think I got it! :laugh:
Thanks! Congrats on your newbies, too (and for making CotM), and good luck going forward!
Not all ammonoid fossils are that tiny. While some specimens are even smaller than mine, some exceed 5 feet in diameter! The largest I have is about 2.5" (excluding the matrix), but I got that one on eBay. I reckon we've just got these little guys in my general area.
G-Money: the man whose knowledge of biology is so bad, many mistake it as contempt for the field itself! :pink_laugh: You have no idea how long I was laughing out loud irl when I read your post, haha!!!
Thanks for the info on the ammonoid fossils - that's really cool! A 5-foot diameter sounds enormous for that type of creature, hahaha!
Although the next pokemon I'm gonna hunt for is a charmander (there's a guy who gives you one in celedon I think).
That's an awesome shiny collection, TOKZK! Latias is irrefutably one of the coolest shinies ever, and it's super awesome that you have one!!! :boogie: Huge congrats on the Gengar and I hope you get shiny Charmander soon! 😊
Congrats on all those new shinies, Maserati!!! I was just thinking about how many Phases I've gone through trying to get that shiny Sableye, and here you got 9 shiny Bellsprout and 4 shiny Skorupi before getting your Ekans, "lol!" Huge congrats on the dedication and perseverance to stick with the hunt!!! :smile:
Moon:
SOS: Smeargle, Slowpoke
(Especially with all the candy I accumulate doing these chains.) Oh! And not only is Dove shiny, he's also tiny - 9 inches! What a rare and precious little critter! 😘
(I think I'll put off starting another Charmander chain until I get to Rock Tunnel.)
That's awesome, Em!!!! Huge congrats on the shiny tiny Rattata!!! :pink_boogie:
Good luck on your Charmander hunt - I hope you can get one to shine soon!!
Major congrats on the new shinies - especially Sandygast!! Of the ones I've seen, Sandygast is my fav GenVII shiny, and I've actually hatched like 4,000 eggs trying to get one, "lol!" It's totes my first target for when I get to GenVII hunting! Enjoy the black sand before I steal it, MWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :laugh:
As for my hunts right now, I'm still focusing on hatching for Fennekin in X, SRing for Tepig in White 2, encountering for Sableye in Black, and occasionally hatching for Sandygast in Moon. I'd also really like to start up another SR hunt in Pearl! But I need to beat the Elite Four first, which isn't going to be so easy...I lost my starter again!!! 😱
SHINY FENNEKIN!!!!!!!!!!
"lol" so the story of this one is pretty awesome. I had hatched an enormous number of Fennekin eggs, and sometimes I would get scared that I accidentally missed a shiny in one of my boxes before I'd do the "mass release" of stopping and releasing all of my hatched Fennekin once I ran out of box space. I realized after a couple of iterations that it's much, much faster just to check the Pokédex to see if any of my Fennekin have been shiny - the Pokédex in X tells you if you've seen a shiny form of that Pokémon, and checking that is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay faster than going through hundreds of Fennekin in my Boxes and verifying to make sure that each individual specimen was non-shiny.
When I filled up my last Box tonight, I checked my Pokédex just to make sure it would be safe to do a mass release, and my 'dex said I'd caught a shiny Fennekin!!!! :laugh-squinted: So I had a good ol' fashioned Box Hunt!!!! I don't think I've found a shiny by looking through my Boxes since I discovered my original shiny, Electrode, all the way back in 2006, "lol!"!!!!!!!! :laugh: I went through my Boxes, and sure enough, a beautiful gray Fennekin was hiding out in Box 23, slot 13! I must have totally missed it when it hatched, hahaha!! I'm pretty much always dual-hunting (usually SRing for Tepig alongside Fennekin!) and usually reading an article or listening to music while I hatch, so I didn't even know that I had hatched a shiny, "lol!" The Summary Screen says that I both received and hatched my shiny Fennekin on August 7th, so luckily I only spent one extra day hunting for an additional 109 eggs hatched (August 7th was just yesterday!!). I'm really glad that I started checking the Pokédex "Forms Seen" page before doing my mass releases, hahahahahahaha!!!! :pink_laugh:
The parentally-held Everstone ensured a Modest Nature, and it has flawless IVs in HP, Defense, Sp. Attack, and Speed!! What a Pokémon, haha!! :boogie: This is my first starter of the Kalos trio, and it was well worth the wait!! I had no idea what shiny Fennekin looked like before this, and I was shocked at how strikingly beautiful its coat is! It came on egg #7093, although I hatched an additional 109 eggs before I realized that I had a shiny on my hands, haha! I also accidentally SRed after hatching somewhere around 60 eggs towards the beginning (I was SRing on my other DS and just did it mechanically, "lol!" :laugh: ), so I ended up with about 7262 Fennekin hatched overall. I had also seen 3 Fennekin while SRing for Froakie on Y many years ago, so my shiny really came on #7096 and I ended up seeing 7265 overall! :smile:
Now to release all those other boxed Fennies and go after Chespin! :pink_boogie:
That's awesome!! How's your progress so far?
EDIT: "lol" both of the Fennekin parents were level 100, haha! :laugh:
EDIT 8/15: OMG SHINY HEATRAN!!!!!!!!!!!
"lol" so I finally beat the Elite Four in Pearl, and I decided to go after a shiny legendary to complete the Palkia "line" in my signature, just as Giratina completed the Dialga line. But first I needed to get the National Dex, and I didn't want to unleash Mesprit, since that would preclude the possibility of ever hunting for one in Pearl in the future. So I decided to trade over the one from Diamond to complete the 'dex and leave Pearl's Mesprit as a possible future target, but...I had never caught the Mesprit in Diamond!! I had unleashed it way back in 2007 to get the National Dex, but I had never managed to actually capture it, "lol!" It took me many days to find it (I caught Cresselia, too! Both of them had been wandering Sinnoh these past 12 years, "lol!"), and I actually ran out of Luxury Balls, Ultra Balls, and Premier Balls, so I had to beat the Elite Four in Diamond again to raise money to buy more Ultra Balls, hahaha! :laugh-squinted:
I eventually got Mesprit and traded with Pearl to get the National Dex, and then I started SRing for Heatran. Before SRing on encounter #2663, I noticed that Heatran's red was brighter than usual!! I wasn't sure for sure if it was a shiny or not at first, but when it popped out of my first Ultra Ball attempt, I got to see the sparkle!! I was right about it being a brighter red after all, hahaha! :pink_boogie: I found it at 9:40 PM tonight, and it sure put up one heck of a fight - the battle lasted 8-9 minutes, and it took 18 Ultra Balls to catch!! I switched to Finn, my trusty Lumineon, on Turn 1 and used Surf (I had tested it a bunch of times during my first SRs and found that Finn's Surf got Heatran to pretty close to 1 HP around 9 out of 10 times, and there was about a 10% risk of fainting it, "lol"), and then I started the Ultra Ball chucking.
I named her Olympomona, after the Martian volcano Olympus Mons. I used this shiny to revive my starter, and I've honestly lost count of how many times I've done that now, hahahhaaa! :laugh:
icycatelf August 16th, 2019 7:41 AM
Congrats on the Shiny Heatran and finding that hidden Shiny Fennekin!
- - -
I hadn't found any Shinies in over four months, but I chanced upon this in Emerald's Safari Zone yesterday! :D
https://i.imgur.com/Xu4ZVcT.jpg
My first Shiny Oddish and second Shiny ever in Emerald! I named her Maya after mayapples (aka American/wild mandrakes), nodding to Oddish's mandrake origin, and evolved her into Bellossom. I knocked out the Sp. Atk training in Emerald and traded her to LeafGreen for Speed training and topping off her level, still hoping for a full-odds Shiny Yanma (or Slowpoke) in the process. (I also wouldn't turn down a second Shiny Meowth/Persian to transfer to my Gen. 4 team.)
Spritingyoshi22 August 21st, 2019 4:21 AM
It's been forever since I've been on the Pokecommunity, let alone this forum (I probably still have my cringe signature lol). Hope everyone is doing well, and a big congratulations to the people who have obtained shinies since my last post (there's a lot of you I trust) and welcome to all the new members who've joined since.
Feel like I should do a rejoin post so here's my list of shinies obtained:
Throh - White -> Black
Vulpix -> Ninetails - Snakewood (rom hack)
Skitty -> Delcatty - Platinum (Pokeradar)
Corsola - Platinum (Pokeradar)
Roselia - Platinum (Pokeradar)
Bidoof - Pearl
Mankey - Heart Gold
Marill - Leaf Green
Ralts - Black
Tentacool - Soul Silver
Dialga - Diamond
Geodude - Diamond
Magby - Black 2
Pikachu - Diamond
Magikarp - Platinum
Abra - Leaf Green
Electrode - Soul Silver
Zigzagoon - Alpha Sapphire
Pichu - Platinum
Pidgey - Sacred Gold (rom hack) (Failed)
Plusle - Go
Totodile - Go
(Not sure if Go shinies count, I don't really hunt on there but thought they were worth noting)
Currently double hunting in Berry Forest on Fire Red and Route 37 in Heart Gold at 500 encounters apiece, going for anything on the route as I love them all, would be nice to reclaim my lost Pidgey though. I'll try my best to hunt as much as possible but I'm starting uni soon, so I'll do what I can, but will definitely try and be more active on here <3
Spritingyoshi22 August 27th, 2019 5:58 AM
Know I've done 2 replies in a row, so hoping this isn't spam. Yesterday, after 7143 encounters across my Heart Gold and Fire Red, I reclaimed my shiny pidgey! It appeared on Heart Gold which is fitting as my lost Pidgey was on a Heart Gold hack. It honestly looks so much better on my screen than it did on camera or when I've searched its sprites. Onto my next hunt: I'm resuming my hunt for Turtwig on Platinum, currently at 2100 SRs, and alongside it (cause I love double hunting now) I'm restarting my Fire Red and am going to hunt for each of the Kanto starters. Good luck on your hunts guys!
G-Money September 4th, 2019 3:52 PM
OMG Shiny Purugly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hahahahahhahaha, I bet if you'd bet on what shiny G-Money would find next after Heatran, nobody would've guessed Purugly - myself included!! :laugh:
Haha, so I'd been hunting Tepig and Chespin pretty much every day for the past few weeks, but yesterday I decided to try something new - I'd hunt for some swarming Pokémon in Pearl! I still had 20 fainted Pokémon from my Nuzlocke, so I'd have to gets lots of shinies to revive them all, "lol!" I figured the swarms were as good a place as any to hunt, since they provide really cool Pokémon that I really like, and many of them are super-rare or difficult to hunt in other games! And it gives me a chance to pick up some other Sinnoh shinies via Axiom 22 while I'm on these swarm hunts, so it's a win-win all around! :laugh-squinted:
Yesterday I checked the swarm for the first time, and it was Farfetch'd. I hunted like all day and got up to 1051 encounters on the route, and then today's swarm was Skitty on Route 222. I remember Skitty being ridiculously rare from my Nincada hunt, where it was like 5% or something like that. On the Nincada route in Hoenn, the Pokémon that you could find were Zigzagoon, Taillow, Whismur, Nincada, and Skitty. I ended up with 2 shiny Zigzagoon, 4 (!!!!) shiny Taillow, and my shiny Nincada, plus I ended up getting a shiny Whismur from the cave next door. I managed to find a whole slew of shinies on that route, yet that elusive Skitty was the one who evaded me (which was totally fine with me, being a Ghost-hunter and all! :pink_wink: ).
But when today's swarm turned out to be Skitty, I thought it'd be a great opportunity to go after that super-clandestine cat that had proven to be even more hard to find than Nincada! Much to my surprise, after 531 encounters today, a cat did show up to shine - but it was Purugly!!!!! :bigo:
"lol" I totally wasn't expecting this at all, haha! :boogie: I found a shiny on just encounter #1582 of my swarm hunt! It seems like all of my Pearl shinies have been been super, super quick to appear - they all seem to be well under the 8192 expectation!! :happy2:
Purugly appeared around 6:45 PM today. I caught him on the second Ultra Ball attempt and named him Wallace. This was a really, really fun way to hunt (OMG I LOVE GENIV GRAPHICS!!!! :pink_laugh: ), so I think I'm going to continue with some more Pearl swarm hunting! I still have 19 Pokémon to revive from that Nuzlocke, haha!
I used Wallace to bring back Mira the Tentacool, who had the unfortunate predicament of holding the Exp. Share. She fainted before I even got to the 7th gym, so it made the last portion of the game quite a challenge indeed! :laugh-squinted:
Also, Wallace was holding a Cheri Berry, which was pretty cool. It's rare enough to get a shiny, but a shiny holding an item??? Far out. :cool:
Huge congrats!! I've become a really big fan of Oddish of late, and I'm actually starting to come around to thinking it's one of the coolest Pokémon, haha!! Super underrated, for sure.
Major props for getting it in the Safari Zone, too - that battle must've been terrifying!! :pink_disbelief:
Welcome back, man!!! It's been forever!!!! I'm really glad to see you again - it's been years, haha!!
I can see your list of shinies has grown enormously from when you first joined - huge congrats on all the new ones!! I totally agree with you on the shinies looking better in the game than they do from pictures or videos on the Internet. I don't know why that's the case, but I've 100% noticed that with my own shinies, haha.
I'm really glad you're back in the club and I hope you find many, many more shinies!!! :boogie:
Wow, huge congrats on all those new shinies!! It's amazing that you're almost through Sinnoh, hahaha!! My personal consecutive shiny 'dex starts with Venusaur and ends with Charmander, "lol!" :rambo:
EDIT: OMG OMG WOW!!!!!!!!!!111
SHINY TEPIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
OMG!!! By Jove, what luck!! Less than two hours after Purugly shone, I got shiny Tepig in White 2!!!!!!!! :pink_boogie:
She appeared at 8:29 PM - a mere hour and 44 minutes after Purugly - and even has a Modest nature!!! I had always thought that shiny Tepig didn't look all that different from the original, so I'd been looking at the number on the summary screen instead of the actual Pokémon, haha. I noticed that the number was red this time, and sure enough, Tepig was a bright orangish-yellow!! :boogie:
It came on #10637, and each reset felt like it took forever, "lol!" To give a sense of scale, each SR took about 3-4 times as long as each Pearl random encounter, haha.
So finally, after many, many years and even more soft resets, my gruesome, daunting, and seemingly-interminable Unova starter SR hunt has come to a close. I've gotten all three!!!
EDIT 9/5: WOW!!! Another shiny!!! It's...
...Shiny Mawile!!!!!!
"lol" best run ever!??? This is my third shiny in less than 24 hours!!! I woke up "in the middle of the night" (which was really, like, 7AM, "lol!") and figured I'd hunt for a bit before heading back to sleep. Mawile shone at 9:23 AM on encounter #3922. It took 8 Dusk Balls to catch - after 7 failed capture attempts, it used Crunch on my Volcarona and ended up burning itself due to Flame Body, which really helped, haha! :pink_laugh: The next Dusk Ball did the trick!! :laugh:
I named him Gil, since the huge jaws of Mawile kind of reminded me of the Sharknado movies. Gil is the seventh shiny of my Sableye hunt, all caught in Challenger's Cave on Black. On to Phase VIII! :boogie:
EDIT 9/7: OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG I DID IT!!!!!! I GOT HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SHINY SABLEYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
OMG IT'S FINALLY HAPPENED!!!! I GOT SHINY SABLEYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I found him at 10:16 PM, on encounter #2978 since Mawile. Overall, that makes it encounter #61,764 since I started hunting Sableye!!!
Finally, another Ghost!!! This hunt actually was much shorter than I anticipated - I figured I'd need to get a shiny Riolu and Lickitung before I'd have a chance to nab Sab', hahaha!! :laugh: It only took VIII Phases and wayyyyy less than 81,920 random encounters, so I got super-duper lucky with this one, "lol!" :laugh-squinted:
This was one of the hardest Ghosts to get - Snorunt's probably going to be the hardest, but this one was in my books as the #2 hardest Ghost to get, so this is a really major step in my Ghost Quest. I'm getting closer and closer!!!!! :pink_boogie: :boogie: :pink_boogie: :boogie: :laugh:
I managed to catch Sableye on the third Dusk Ball attempt, and I named him Octeau. It's pronounced the same as "Octo" (since he was the eighth shiny I found on the hunt), but it has au at the end, with is the symbol for gold. Shiny Sableye has a bit of a golden sheen with a dope emerald in the middle, which looks really, really cool!!!!!! I also hadn't caught one yet, so I got to see the super-awesome shiny Pokédex entry!!!!
Here's the final tally for how my Challenger's Cave hunt turned out:
(LGE) Shiny Gastly is so damn stubborn, borderline more so than my shiny Charmander but so am I.
I've also been resetting a new HS file for a shiny Cyndaquil.
Hi been a long time since I posted here. Just got 4 the other day. An SOS Spearow, a random encounter cutifly right after the spearow, Hapiny while trying to sos a Pichu, and a Fearow while trying to random encounter a Minior. The most shiny I ever got in a day. Did have shiny charm so wasn’t full odds.
OMG SHINY PUMPKABOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111 Whoo-hooo!!!!!!!!!!!! :pink_boogie: :boogie: :pink_boogie:
Hahaha I finally got it!!!! After years upon years upon years of scouring the Mélancolie Path every fall, I finally found my shiny pumpkin!! It was a blazing bright purple, so I have no idea how I'd missed it all this time, haha. You'd think it'd really be sticking out in the pumpkin patch, being all purple and all!! :laugh-squinted:
Callie Baza shone on encounter #7682 of this Phase of my Pumpkaboo hunt (I got a shiny Klefki last year!), although it was only encounter #5610 since I started up again in early October for 2019. I found her at 10:02 PM HST tonight, November 8th, and caught her on the second Dusk Ball attempt (a shiny Ghost like Pumpkaboo just has to go in a Dusk Ball, "lol!" And I caught her at night, too, so it was super perfect!!! :laugh:
Pumpkaboo is a really awesome shiny!!! Really ominous and spooky - exactly as a Ghost shiny should be!!! The colors really screamed out the second they jumped on to the screen, haha. I have another shiny Ghost!! :boogie:
Oh, and I can finally take pictures again!! This is my first shiny in like years that I can actually prove, haha. If anyone wants to see pictures of any of my other shinies, just let me know and I can post some! :pink_boogie:
Spoiler:
A shiny Pumpkaboo appeared!!!
In that first picture, it seems to be distorting the very fabric of reality around it, "lol." A genuine Ghost indeed!
Armed with baby Chespin in 5 of my 6 Pokéballs, it was incumbent upon my brave Talonflame to rise to the challenge and take on this most phantasmagorical creature of night. My brave Talonflame lifted its wings to enter battle, but little did he know that the shiny Pumpkaboo was Brave itself!! :freaked-out:
It's ominous and spooky, but I've got to try to catch it!! I hope I brought enough Dusk Balls with me... :thonkeng:
Success!! Finally, the Brave Pumpkaboo is mine!
Pumpkaboo come in all sorts of sizes, so I'm really super happy that I got a big one!!! Some of those Pumpkaboo I saw over the course of my thousands of encounters were ridiculously tiny, "lol." This one is nice and big and scary!! It makes the shiny all that much better, haha! :smile:
I also have a really cool Pumpkaboo-like theme at PC now, since I temporarily switched to Infernal Smash while Quilava's Glaciation is still down. I had been using The Johto Elite for the last few months, but I'm trying out this new one, and I noticed it kind of has Pumpkaboo colors while I was writing this post, "lol!" Appropriate for a Ghost hunter?
(Now before you all scream out and decry my heretical blasphemy, don't worry!!! I'll switch to Quilava's Glaciation as soon as it comes back!!! :cool: )
I had been hatching for a shiny Chespin on X when October rolled around and it came time to hunt for Pumpkaboo, so I had five level 1 Chespin in my party when I caught Callie Baza. I forgot that you get experience for catching Pokémon in GenVI, so all five of those Chespin leveled up like 5 times each after I caught my shiny, "lol!" :laugh-squinted:
OMG welcome back, Velveteenwolf!!!!! We missed you!!!
Way to come back with a thunderous roar, haha. Four shinies in one day!?? Way to go!! Let's hope that's an omen portending magnificent shiny successes to come! :happy2:
Today I found a shiny Arbok in hordes. It took 6 shiny Weepinbell and 3 shiny Gligar to find. 422 hordes since the last shiny, a Gligar on Sept 27th. 222 total Arbok hordes.
I previously hunted the 5% Ekans and that one took 483 Ekans hordes and 12 phases.
As a full-odds Shiny hunter, this has me kind of worried:
From what I understand, in Sword and Shield, battling a Pokémon gradually increases your chance of finding a Shiny of that species over the course of the game (it doesn't have to be chained). However, I'm hoping this only applies to overworld Pokémon. Does anyone know if rustling grass Pokémon are exempt from this boost?
EDIT: Chanced upon a Shiny Wishiwashi!
EDIT 2: Based on what I'm seeing on Serebii, I'm under the impression that the Shiny boost doesn't kick in until you've defeated/caught at least 50 of that species. I hope this is the case.
EDIT 3: Got the Shiny Snom! Now she's a beautiful green-tinted Frosmoth. <3
While I feel that Frosmoth was more likely based on the Indian Moon Moth, I named her Belle in reference to my favorite geometer moth: the Pale Beauty. (Belle means beauty and rhymes with pale.)
