Does the Pokewalker....?

Does the pokewalker take batteries?

xXI JOE IXx August 30th, 2009 5:30 AM

I would say most likely yes

The Darkest Gale August 30th, 2009 5:31 AM

g.narron August 30th, 2009 5:32 AM

560cool. August 30th, 2009 7:55 AM

Since there is aThread open , I dlike to ask ....

g.narron August 30th, 2009 7:59 AM

there

there are batteries already included

xxChazxx August 30th, 2009 9:37 AM

I really wish that it was chargable. I neglected to even think of the power source. Buying these batteries are such a hassle sometimes.

Sydian August 30th, 2009 1:13 PM

I'm assuming the batteries aren't Japan exclusive then...

I should hope not. I would have to shell out cash for a set of small batteries.

ShinyMeganium August 30th, 2009 2:11 PM

There's a chance it'll be charged, no? I mean, if you charge the DS while it's connected, it can charge the Pokewalker too (in case the batteries are chargeable). Unless i'm a complete electronic fail (shame for my father who works with it for his living XD)

Rich Boy Rob August 30th, 2009 2:15 PM

The good thing is, watch batteries can last for months, even a year or so. They may be a bother to get, but you wouldn't exactly have to go through it often.

Amore August 30th, 2009 2:16 PM

lol.if u dont have a way of charging it, i just won't bother using it

Charizard★ August 30th, 2009 2:24 PM

I think it may be chragable but thats my guess >.<

I don't think it actually "connects", it transfers Pokemon to and from the DS using a wireless link.

Tanaki August 30th, 2009 2:54 PM

I should really hope the thing is rechargeable. Buying batteries is always a hassle and if I can't recharge the thing the only thing it's gonna hold in it's memory is dust.

Yea, but watch batteries are very difficult to find or sometimes you can't find them. I think they should take the most common batteries which are AA or AAA batteries

It's only a CR2032 Button Cell Battery. You can get them from RadioShack/Walmart for $5

That's a lot better than recharging it

HeartGold95 September 4th, 2009 11:51 AM

Sucks that they might not be rechargable...
=[

Thingula September 4th, 2009 12:22 PM

Actually, for most people, it's better. It'll last longer w/ a battery, there are less cords to worry about, it would be larger, cost more and it if some of the rechargeable battery's cells died, you would need to get a new battery from Nintendo

psh a year thats nothing, my old Pikachu 2 from the first GS era games still works, and its been how many years? Heck it outlasted the original games.

Its connects via infra-red presumably, and although wireless power exists, there is no chance in hell it'l be a feature for the PokeWalker. The batteries are cheap and last ages, so I wouldnt worry if they arent included.

Edit: The reason for my assumption it'l be infra-red may appear odd as the DS lacks an infra-red port, but if my assumption is correct, there will be one on the cartridge as I imagine its less power hungry to use infra-red rather than building a wireless transmitter inside which could drastically reduce the life span of the pokewalker.

And thats a point.. will we lose our Pokemon if the batteries run out? Or is it a copy that goes to the pokewalker and upon returning of the Pokemon, it'l update the Pokemon with its gained experience from the battles?

Actually, there's no chance in hell that it will use anything other than wireless, b/c the DS, last time i checked, doesn't have an IR sensor on it.
Plus, the website says it's wireless. :P

I edited just before your reply saying my reasonings, but if the actual website says its wireless, then I guess its official. But that official image of the pokewalker connecting really looks like its connecting via infra-red.

s0nido September 4th, 2009 2:44 PM

If it does take watch batteries, that'd be just annoying. It should have a rechargeable battery and be able to be charged via the DS charger or a charger of its own.

I agree. It does look like the signal is coming from the game, but there isn't enough room to fit an IR LED nor IR receiver in a DS game cartridge
