Hold it. They got it and finished the review this early? Ah, so lucky...

ArmchairRomeo September 1st, 2009 12:12 AM

I suppose I'm just not used to reviews coming out almost 2 weeks before the release date. XD

Mitchman September 1st, 2009 12:34 AM

Yes that Nintendogs was bull but whatever we can't do anything. But as very strict scorers I have to agree with this score. Like how Dragon Quest IX deserves that perfect 40 this deserves the highest score for a Pokemon game.

Haza September 1st, 2009 1:16 AM

I give it a ten without even playing it. The pre release info tells much. and I believe Famitsu gave Nitendogs a 40 because it was quite impressive when DS was new.

Tudj September 1st, 2009 1:51 AM

Hmmmm 37, thats a pretty good score, but I would of thought it would have been sightly higher, at least 38, but they may not be as big pokemon supporters as us. But from other scores he has given, this sounds pretty good.

37/40

Of a review pane of four people (as all Famitsu reviews are handled), it scored a 9, 10, 9, and 9. That's one point higher than Diamond and Pearl, actually (which had a perfect 9 across the board). A list of the review scores (thanks to the internet):
Platinum: 36/40 (9, 9, 9, 9)
Diamond and Pearl: 36/40 (9, 9, 9, 9)
FireRed and LeafGreen: 32/40 (8, 8, 8, 8)

On a side note, Famitsu is known as one of the toughest, and most trusted game reviewers in Japan. (Though perhaps to give Nintendogs a perfect 10 across the board was a little much.)

What is the categories? like 9 for gameplay, 10 for sounds. idk.. :)

OXM always does that.

I thought thats how early most reviewers get their copy.

He clearly states how each score is a score given by 4 reviewers. Whoever that 10 is I applaud him cause its so true. I mean its a beautiful game sound wise and graphic wise not to mention its gs in ds.

How did you read the text on the Famitsu webpage? Its all in Japanese symbols. Did you use Google Translate?

A remake of R/B(FR/LG) with the DS graphics would be awesome

Probably won't happen, but if they'll keep remaking some remake would come eventually in the next console(s). Plus, with HGSS's Kanto and probably a few more DS hack tools which might come in some years will give us a VERY easy opportunity to make it.

JP September 1st, 2009 5:21 AM

Hopefully I'll be agreeing with those scores when I get to finally play these games. I do have high hopes for it. :P

Guy September 1st, 2009 6:09 AM

HeartGold and SoulSilver's rating is considerably high, which is a good foreshadowing of how well the game might be to players once released considering Famitsu is a pretty well known and trustworthy source when it comes to rating of the games. As for the rating of Nintendogs, its score really bases on different aspects considering age, effects, and all.

Good to know all together though, because for some it'll tell them whether the game will be worth purchasing or not. Nevertheless of its rating for me however, I would have still tested it myself seeing how well its been showing itself to be.

Kyo Wolf September 1st, 2009 6:47 AM

Woah, thats a real good score...makes me not wanna wait even more...T_T
I'm so jealous of them getting it this early though! xD

But...they gave Nintendogs a perfect 10? Uhm...a bit suprising I should say. The game was good but...xD

:3 September 1st, 2009 2:51 PM

That image of pallet town looks nice.
I really wonder what made this game 1 point better then Diamond and Pearl and Platinum though.

CrashmanX September 1st, 2009 2:56 PM

Platinum: 36/40 (9, 9, 9, 9)
Diamond and Pearl: 36/40 (9, 9, 9, 9)

Oh whut? IMO D/P/PT are the worst of the pokemon games, how did it get those scores? None-the-less, I think HG/SS Deserve the score it got simply because the Second gen games were the best with the ability to go back to Kanto and Fight the gym leaders again, gave you something to do after the Elite 4. Though I really wish Nintendo would take advantage of the WiFi ability and release things like Updates and such, ya know put it on a HUGE cart (Like 1+ GB or something) and release updates and Expansions of sorts as time goes on, though Sadly they wont do this.

The game's not due out until September 12 in Japan (and next spring in the US), but Famitsu reviewed it in this week's issue nonetheless, giving it three 9's and a 10 for a total score of 37 points. "I got addicted to the collecting, raising, and battle aspect," one reviewer wrote. "It reminded me of how well-made a game [the original] Gold/Silver was at its core. Being as universally known as it is, there are few surprises here, but the game is so exquisitely balanced that getting addicted is a natural process."
Very little bad was said over all about the Gold/Silver update besides the old "no major surprises" chestnut. "The base story is the same as the original, but the way it feels couldn't be more different," another concluded. "There's a lot of newness among the nostalgia." Another agreed: "Pokemon has a kiddie image, but there's no reason adults can't get addicted."-- From 1UP.com

Oh my, those are some rather exciting little hints they left in the review.......

Timbjerr September 1st, 2009 4:25 PM

It's always a good sign when a game garners more than a 35 in its Famitsu review...makes me want this game just a little more than I used to. ^_^

Kaisuki September 1st, 2009 4:30 PM

Wow, if they're that tough then this should be awesome.

Can't wait.

Logiedan September 1st, 2009 4:43 PM

This is making me looking forward to the game even more. I'm so jealous they get the game first but i'm glad they gave HG/SS a better score than Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.
Spoiler:

Am I the only one that kinda laughed that the fact Nintendogs had 10/10/10/10?
