Light VS Lelouch

I've been seeing a lot of debates how Yagami Light, Death Note main character, wins Lelouch vi Brittania (or Lamperouge) and vice versa. So... I brought this here.

Please don't turn this into a flame war. D: I just wanna know how you think. And remember, everything said here (regarding the topic) is an opinion.
And if this kind of debate survives, I hope you won't answer like "i think its light he's cool" or "lelouch is badass XD". Thanks.

(Mods, if this is inappropriate, lock this. If this kind of debate has appeared in the past and had caused a massive problem, I'm sorry and will refrain from doing this kind of thing... I was just curious...
And please don't complain about my overly-bright font colour. DX)

And I believe this wouldn't really live long. D: Just wanna get this outta my head. Feel free to do anything with it.

I havent seen as much of Code Geass, I stopped watching it after about 13 episodes.

IIRC, Lelouch kills people by controlling them with his eye which means he gets right up close which would be a good point but I prefer the tactical planning that Light uses (and everyone in DN does really) over what I remember that Lelouch does.

Lelouch would be a better character but the way Death Note is written it makes every character just seem seriously intelligent.

Other people will have better arguments. D:

icomeanon6 September 2nd, 2009 8:21 AM

In terms of being inexcusably sociopathic *******s, they're about even.

I think that Death Note and Code Geass are good shows, but I can't bring myself to like their lead characters. They may be amazing at what they do, but they're just such jerks. I'd take a pathetic but nice character like Shinji Ikari over those two any day.

(Also, what were they thinking when they romanized "Lelouch"? If they want the 'ch' to be soft, it should have an 'e' on the end!)

Satoshi Ookami September 2nd, 2009 8:26 AM

No!! :D
I hate this comparing xD
They're both gods :D
But since my favorite character from DN is L... my vote goes to LELOUCH!

Eternal Nightmare September 2nd, 2009 8:58 AM

To me they are both HIGHLY intelligent and tactical so to me I say this match is about even.

PsychoJigglypuff September 2nd, 2009 12:19 PM

Hmm... Well, Light needs a name and face to kill. Lelouch does not. It probably takes longer to write down a name than to use the Geass, no matter how fast you write. On the other hand, if Light found out his name an face before hand, he could kill him at anytime. But, since he wouldn't target Lelouch, but his alter ego, he wouldn't have had a name or a face, and might not make the connection...

It's quite close, but I'll have to go with Lelouch. Partly because he could have killed L with the Geass and not go through the dilemma of not knowing his name. Take that, Light Yagami! >:3

Taichi September 2nd, 2009 3:51 PM

Light
Because Lelouch cannot eat chips as epic.

iwuzhere9 September 2nd, 2009 4:37 PM

Its close, but my vote goes to Lelouch. He was
Spoiler:
actually trying (and succedded, if the ending of R2 says anything) to change the world into a better place, while Light was just trying to become a god, even if good did come of it.

ReyRey-Pyon September 2nd, 2009 8:03 PM

Lelouch wins in my opinion

Although Lelouch and Light were both extreamly smart.
Light, lost in the end. He wasnt able to carry out his plan, Althoguh he made it pretty far. He bacame a villain.
If he would have waited two seconds, it could have made alll the difference if he could have waited two seconds to gloat. Thats what killed him.

Lelouch succeeded in the end, He was able to make the world a better place, Alothoguh he hit some bumps in the road, he was able to make such unfortunate events work to his advantage. He also, unlike Light, was able to stay...sane, Although he may have acted evil at points, he was acting in order to carry out his plan.
Lelouch is a liar :>

Although they both died in the end. Lelouch was successful. His death was planned.

Plus in terms of power. Lelouch only needed direct eye contact, to kill
Light needed a face, and a name. which made things more difficult for him.
Lelouch wins.

But can Lelouch make his chips sparkle? Is he sponsored by doritos?
I don't think so!

icomeanon6 September 2nd, 2009 9:20 PM

Am I the only one here who cares about their personalities? I mean, of course they're both super-intelligent and wicked-awesome, but they're such huge jerks. You can go on about how noble their causes are (even that's up for debate), but the fact of the matter is that they're both very unpleasant human beings. I don't think I'd be able to hang around either of them for five minutes without getting sick of their self-righteous bullsh**.

Pizza Hut Supports the Rebellion!
...
Lulu would win, only because of his Geass, otherwise, it's pretty much a draw.

Bay September 3rd, 2009 10:21 AM

I have to agree with icomeanon6 on this. ^^;

I watched most of Death Note and at first I like Light and he was sane, but then he went crazy later in the series and being a jerk. I can understand he was being overboard trying to get his plan to work and thus causing him to go insane, but still.

Lelouch I think is being too crazy also, even though I only watched a couple of episodes of Code Geass. Yeah, he's tactical and smart too, but urgh can't stand his ego in the second episode. ._. Then again, I might have judged too early on Lelouch, so I'll wait and see if my thoughts on him changes after getting further into the series.

Er...yeah, draw for me because while great characters and have noble causes, I can't stand their insanity when they were carrying out their plans. I'm not dissing anyone who are fans of both of them and I respect that, but those two characters are not really my favorites, that's all.

Light would win. He'd figure out that Lulu has a Geass pretty quickly, then devise a plot to send MisaMisa out to get his name.

But in a face-to-face showdown, it's obvious Lulu would win. D:

Unless Lelouch some how figures out that misa is trying to get his name

Lulu wouldn't know, since Misa has shinigami eyes, meaning she immediately knows the name of anyone she looks at. :P

Shiraishi September 7th, 2009 7:21 PM

Lelouch can pilot a giant robot with antimatter cannons.

Most of the time, Lelouch acted like an ass to protect his friends and Nunnally. He hated having to lie to Nunnally. Despite his actions, he still loved her and succeeded in making a better world. I could still see him as human at the end of the series.

Light was pretty much an ass.

Finnel September 8th, 2009 11:26 AM

Both are terrible characters from terrible series. But seeing as Death Note is just a bit better than Code Gayass, Light it is. Even though he's got the most retarded logic I've ever seen.

Light's logic is certainly better than that 'code geass and death note suck' logic you've got going.

Sadly, that statement is not logic, it's opinion.

If you can't accept that everybody thinks differently and have different preferences, it's probably time to start growing up. I merely stated my opinion, that's no reason to attack me. I admit that my wording in that post was a bit off, but that doesn't justify anything.

Light clearly wins for the fact that he never shows remorse or feels bad for anything he does. He kill's without caring. While Lelouch does it some to, but he turns out to be a wonderful human being in the end. So Light definitely wins this :3.

Ayano Katagiri September 9th, 2009 4:17 PM

Having watched Death Note before Code Geass, I did notice the similarities between the battles of intellect. But in saying that, I definitely enjoyed Code Geass a lot more than Death Note. I didn't really like Light that much, especially in all the stuff after L dies (which I also felt that the show began to die down. Maybe I'm just a bit more obsessed with C.G. but I'm more of a Lelouch fan than Light. (Plus, Lulu's Geass and Zero > Light's note) ^^

Taemin September 9th, 2009 6:55 PM

I saw Death Note before Code Geass, but I liked CG better. That holds true for the characters, because I like Lelouch more than Light.. but they really did remind me of eachother, in some ways. It was interesting to me how Light thought, and how he'd handle things. Same as how Lelouch would play through things like a Chess game; I found that amusing. xD

I loved both series, even though they were both fairly complex, but yeah.. Lelouch gets mah vote. :x

& If those someone how actually fought each other, ohman.. Light could write Lelouch's name in the DN, but Lelouch could also easily give him an order to do something else before he managed.

Lelouch ftw. 8D;

Luck September 9th, 2009 7:27 PM

They're both dead, so neither.
Are you telling me no one realized this?
