Rampardos Can learn Surf

I just found out rampardos can learn surf in pokemon platinum and he's a rock type!is there a reason he can learn it or is it a glitch what do you think? And is rampardos an Uber?

Queen September 3rd, 2009 12:26 AM

Nope, its not a glitch.
Rampardos can really learn surf.
You could check its moves it can learn at Serebii.

RedViper1990 September 3rd, 2009 12:27 AM

Well... Rhydon, Tyrannitar, Nidoking/queen and maybe some others, can learn surf too, so no it isn't a glitch and I don't think
Rampardos is an uber.

beauty. proletariat September 3rd, 2009 12:36 AM

Rampardos is not an uber. Total of base stats equals to less than 600 and its movepool kinda sucks. Surf is a move learnt by many other rock-type pokemon.

Also, surf has very little benefits to Rampardos as its a Physical sweeper even in-game.

Kazukii September 3rd, 2009 12:39 AM

I'd be very suprised if Rampardos ever became an uber.. lawl.

Meadow September 3rd, 2009 4:30 AM

Some rock-types can learn surf. That's no surprise. But it would be scary if Rampardos could learn Hydro Pump.

Yes but noobs dont understand the difference between physical and special attack thats why quite a lot of people would use it

but anyway i didnt know but i knew about pokemo such as rhydon

wnxvale September 3rd, 2009 9:10 AM

rampardos is called a "glass cannon"...it physically hits hard but has less than adequite defenses and isnt very fast...so its kinda a one shot deal unless u uber it up with stat boosts from ninjask or someone...

garchomp would be an uber since it has hgih base stat, attack and overall good stats that are only below some legendaries...

and yes, i would expect that some dinosaurs (rampardos is based of a dinosaur xD) could swim or adapted to the water in some way so there is some logic behind it...

surf would b a horrible choice for a move on it b/c of rampardos' horrible horrible special attack...bad move...

Yes, many rock pokemon can learn surf, but it doesn't make any of them uber.

Amore September 3rd, 2009 12:58 PM

Yeah.Sneasel, and by that, obviously Weavile, can learn Surf, but only sneasel could ever use it, and only pre-4th Gen. That surprised me, a bit like piplup using cut.

Universal September 3rd, 2009 1:09 PM

I think Weavile can surf too ._.

Fun fact: Sneasel could only learn Surf via breeding in 2GEN.

It's more surprising to hear Snorlax can surf than Rampardos.
Seriously, a Pokemon that size is not meant to be able to use surf.
And he swims in thr anime.
Then again, big belly could be good for great buoyancy.

But that is old news...
I'm not surprised that Rampardos can learn surf.

Fat is less dense than water.

Universal September 3rd, 2009 1:45 PM

lol...Yes Ramperdos is more heavy..

I imagine a groundon learning surf.. ._.
