I have one word: "youtube". I saw people useing a-map and found wah. that then lead me to p.c.

Zeffy September 6th, 2009 7:59 AM

In Youtube, a hacker named Tamashihiroka has influenced me to Rom Hacking. That's pretty much it.

Father Ash September 6th, 2009 9:13 AM

Me and my friend were talking about pokémon and stuff then he brought up that he had found AdvanceMap on the internet and he had destroyed Saffron City and replaced it with a bunch of rocks which formed the shape of a crudely drawn gentleman's whoopsie. He isn't very sophisticated.

DestinyBender September 6th, 2009 12:29 PM

Hm. I believe I found out about hacking by Googling roms.

The first one I downloaded was ShinyGold (credit 2 zel)

i loved it so my hard drive is packed with roms & hacks.

Alice September 7th, 2009 12:50 AM

Looks like I'm not the only one that started with Tamashii's vids.

siper x September 7th, 2009 10:31 AM

my friend made a comedy on youtube by hacking, found wah, then i found this place.

DawnRyder September 7th, 2009 1:46 PM

I was poking around at some rom site and found Amarillo Solar. Then, I was looking for other Pokemon games and found out that Amarillo Solar was a hack. Wondering how they hacked it, I was browsing around and stumbled upon several hacking sites, like pkmnhackersonline.com.

Then I found Pokecommunity and have been here ever since.

NarutoActor September 10th, 2009 7:51 AM

So... it came out like this: One day, my friend told me that there's a Pokemon Game with Gyarados as its cover, and I was curious. So then, my friend gave me a picture of it. (It has "Pokemon Quartz" as its title) I went to Serebii, and found NOTHING about Quartz. So then, I went to Youtube, and I found out that Quartz is a "fake" Pokemon Game. Then, I watched loads of videos about Quartz. Till one of them, said: If you want to Download this, go register in this Website: pokecommunity.com So I went in the community website, and I found out 'bout this place. I downloaded Quartz, and I had a great time. Days passed, until today, it is where I am, a proud member of Poke Community.

I found rom hacking in a similar way to Mateo.

I was at an all day rehearsal with my amateur dramatics group, and I had a few months previous been playing Pokemon for the first time, and so we got on the conversation of it, it eventually led to some guy saying his friend had Pokemon Yellow on his computer. When I got home I dialled up the net and found no$gmb and pokemon blue. This got my interest in looking for Pokemon roms, which eventually led to finding some Pokemon Orange hacks by Dtyler, and Pokemon Generations by BG Translations. Onwards a few months I was looking for Pokemon game makers, it must have taken many weeks of searching before I found anything. The first programs I discovered were Thingy32 Mr. Clicks TileED, and Pokemap. I didn't join any forums until 2003 about a year after I had started ROM hacking and 2 years since I found out about Emulation.

Andrew McKenzie September 17th, 2009 2:49 PM

Honestly? I googled "New Pokemon Games" and found the original Pokemon Brown.
Through that, I found out about hacking, and through google yet again, I found Pokecommunity.
Hung around for a while, then disappeared, joined in 2007 and barely posted.
And now my posting is starting to pick up.

NarutoActor September 17th, 2009 3:34 PM

same here I knew about pc and I never register til I neaded to post my hack thread then I stoped posting than I started ansering questions in the simple questions thread and started posting a lot

I remember searching pokemon gold cheats on youtube. Then after browsing a bit i found pokemon shiny gold glithes and i was like wth? then eventually i found a vid showing more of SG and the link was to PC. The next part embarrases me...
...I tried to download shiny gold and found out i had to be a member. Made an account, looked at HSC hacks and played them. Later in the fall i decided to give ROM hacking a try. The rest is just history... (first romhack I was in was reign of fire, didnt go so well...)

Ahh, the good ol' days.
I was checking out Pokemon Diamond/Pearl vids before the game was released in the USA, and I came across a pic of a custom map, so I looked around on youtube, found a link to E-Map, and got it, looked up Scizz, and the Helmeted Rodent team, and found The Pokecommunity, and joined, became a nooblet, and that is the story of how I became me.

Ray Maverick September 23rd, 2009 5:58 AM

Yeah, someone in youtbe had a good video on where to find hacking tools. I followed the links(wah) and his advise, and i became a maniac hacker. XD

Then, i searched around Wah, i learnt about on going hacks, and then [i dont remember how] i clicked a link to a PC page. I started to like the forums, and i joined right away, using my nickname as username. [/offtopic] Sorry. XD
