Jobs?

Alright, with the American economic system crumbling about our heads, many of us are finding it increasingly harder to find jobs due to older people going back to work (thank you George W), immigrants, or just poor luck.

How many of us are unable to find jobs, or are damn lucky enough to have them?

I am unemployed (even though I applied just about everywhere), despite having a job for a grand total of one week before being fired because I was a 'drain on store resources', according to the district manager.

Rokusasu September 8th, 2009 10:29 AM

I had a job last Christmas, but was made redundant because the company closed down. Since then, I haven't worked, because a) there's nothing out there that appeals to me, and b) I hate working. XD

Timbjerr September 8th, 2009 11:35 AM

I'm currently unemployed...been searching for the last month-and-a-half. -.-;

I'm still upset at myself for quitting a perfectly good job (even if I hated the overnight hours and the managers were annoying *******s) to work for a door-to-door sales scam because they promised me huge paychecks. >_<

lol Amurrika

You all know what I do for a living.

Considering that I'm at University entirely on grants and scholarships (which also cover board/food), it's 100% profit.

I've never had problems finding a job and have found them even in this economic climate. A big issue is pride. I know personally of a kid who sat on his ass for a year straight because he refused to take a job unless it met his rigid standards. I'm sure it's like that all over the place.

I haven't been employed since '07, and am currently surviving only on financial aid and my parent's pity...

Ageless Irony September 9th, 2009 7:48 AM

I am an assistant at Krav Maga Illinois.
Good job.

Oh, sorry. I didn't know you were the only ones in trouble.

I luckily have a part time job.

Sometimes I wonder. I've never had a problem getting a job: once in a while you just have to suck it up and take what's available. I'm not saying it's possible to get a job in absolutely every situation, but it probably is in most cases.

I'm lucky enough to have an apprenticeship where I'm contracted for three years (as in, cannot lose my job in those three years) and I have a very good chance of keeping my job. I've just finished my first year. =3

I work for local government so it's pretty stable.

One of my friends complained she couldn't ever find jobs, but it transpired that she was just turning her nose up at everything she didn't deem classy enough.

I work at McDonalds, and pretty dang good at my job. My boss like loves me.

Plus it's a franchise, so they have to pay minimum wage. (I am only mentioning this seeing as the fact that my sister works for a small business and she get paid less.)

I got meself a job about a month ago (:
Winn Dixie as a cashier.
It's decent, nice and easy, puts money in my pocket. I'm happy with it for now.

Charizard★ September 9th, 2009 1:32 PM

I might try to get a job at Dunkin Donuts lol, hopefully I'll get one there.

BenRK September 9th, 2009 1:52 PM

I've been looking for a job shortly before I graduated from high school. Seeing as I got fired from my last two jobs, I'm fairly sure no one wants to hire someone with that record. Sure, they used creative language (this is a lay off)(Oh, there were scheduling conflicts), but I got fired. I'm looking everywhere, and recently applied at a cable installation place. I don't want to install cable for a living, but it's a job, and I need money, and I need to save up for college.

If I had a time machine....

I've been looking for a part time job since I'm in my senior year of High School but I have no luck because most people need people to work full time. But even if I were able to work there I wouldn't because most of those jobs don't pay enough

*Employed* I had a steady job from May till August, I'm working on two small projects for people this week and last week and I'm starting a new job next week. Although, the main reason I have steady work is due to having great contacts in my (hopefully) future field.

Guess there is some truth to the saying "It's not what you know, but who you know." ~

You work for the DCC, to be more specific :/
You should be there more often.

I don't have a job, and I don't plan on getting one for about 2 more years. I'll have to make the best out of my last years of freeloading. However, after that, I plan to go straight to a fast food joint for a while because it seems to be the easiest place to get a job, despite the fact that there might be vicious competition.

That had me on the Lol.

The reason our economy is so bad is because of obamas mono-thought: "World Peace" or whatever.

Everyone pulled their money out of stocks, etc, because Obama is investing billions apon billions of dollars into stupid worthless "change".
His health care system? Garbage. His tuition for college students? Where on earth did they think he was going to get the money from? Taxes of course, but no one thought that far ahead. His Taxing the rich and giving to the poor? During his campaign for president, he couldnt even keep a straight number those he'd tax, changing it by thousands of dollars every speech.

You blame Bush for this? Sure he wasnt no Ronald Raegan, but the main reason democrats despise him is because he's republican.

Citrinin September 9th, 2009 8:07 PM

I don't work, mainly because at my age, as the only job I can really get is a paper run. And I'd rather have the free time than the luxury money at this stage in my life, tbh. XD;

Just so you know, our economy went south long before Obama was even elected, and showing signs of it well before that.
