if you prefer digimon to pokemon then u never liked or understood pokemon

Oh my, I was mistaken. Yes, you're right. Your clearly superior argument has convinced me that Pokémon is awesome.
It's even better than a real, famous person.

Fandom wise yes Digimon won't reach that popularity like Pokemon, but a lot of people still like it. For instance, I have friends that still enjoyed Digimon.

As for Simpsons: while the Simpsons is declining in popularity, it's still around for a long time (twenty one years if I recalled). Despite that, the Simpsons is still able to have loyal fans and get nominated and win awards. True both Pokemon and Simpsons have the same amount of episodes more or less, the thing is you can't really compare both of them because the two shows are targeted towards different audiences: Pokemon for children and Simpsons older audience. So yeah, there's defintely going to be a disportion amount of fans if you compare the two series because of the demographics.

Lastly, iffy you compared Michael Jackson to Pokemon. MJ has been around wayyyyyy longer than Pokemon and unlike Pokemon, his fame is still going strong (whether in a good or bad way is a whole another story). Heck, his death made him even more popular.

There's quite a lot Digimon movies actually:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=2523
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=1986
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=2524

These are the ones I can find from seasons 1 and 2. There are also two movies from Tamers and some from the other series if you look through the website a bit.

As for graphics, IMO both are around the same, but this is your opinion so I won't argue.

Well most people here stated they prefer the anime version of Digimon over Pokemon. While I respect anyone that likes Pokemon over Digimon (even the anime), you have to also respect people that like Digimon over Pokemon. Seems to me a lot of people understand Pokemon well enough but the anime version isn't just their thing, that's all. You can't compare how many shippings, episodes, and movies a series has. There's a lot more to how likable or unlikable a series is than those reasons you mention.

Masterge77 September 14th, 2009 3:34 PM

You know, I absolutely hate it when people say thet Digimon is a Pokemon ripoff, really, it's ludicrous, I mean, think about it, bandai spent a lot of time making a Tamagotchi for boys, and that's what Digimon is, Tamagotchi aimed at boys, but I know that their are girls who like Digimon, also, Digimon always tries something new all the time, Pokemon just uses the saame repetitive plot just to make money, also, when will the 6th series come out.........

there are either who are into anime or games, you will perceive pokemon differently if you are in one of these categories. Im into anime and I never played games, I accept it how it is and I like it, only DP made it worse, I really dont have fun watching it, I like the series until DP, Dawn is the worst of all who traveled with him, how can japanese only do this. I understand nothing in games, I watched this anime in 3 languages and im specialized on it. If some people played games before and then started to watch anime then they will perceive it different as one who started to watch anime and then heard about games, and where Ive lived there werent games nor game boy so I only knew anime, it stopped after 1 1/2 seasons and I forgot pokemon, then 5 months later i emigrated to another country where i could watch pokemon 3 times per day but coz i havent watched it since the beginning it wouldnt make sense to watch it and i forgot pokemon for yrs, in early 2008 i saw the last episode of season 5 and i started to watch it, months later i got passionately into leagueshipping. i watched 11 seasons, and this anime will never be like then, these new graphics and concept are just like for another generation, its like they throw old fandom in the trashbin by starting DP.

Why are we talking about Simsons it is a great show but it isn't japanese though and Micheal Jackson R.I.P. and are we suppose to talk about Digimon?

dannichols September 25th, 2009 8:07 PM

Yes, I like Digimon. I remember the year when I first watched the first and the second season. I always wanted to watch it even if it is a rerun.

yvette September 26th, 2009 12:13 PM

lol successful troll

I liked Digimon more than Pokemon when I was a kid (I hated Pokemon back then, actually... ha ha). The show's awesome. But no Digimon game will ever beat the Pokemon games.

Digimon did copy Pokemon, lol. But the show and the first movie is so fabulous. I can watch it over and over again and never get tired of it ♥ I once bought those Digivice digital game things and it still hasn't lost it's battery! lol It has a built in pedometer and it was so much fun to take outside. Some other kids in my neighbourhood also had them, and we'd exchange Digimon and stuff.

Oh, those good old days.

How does Digimon copy a show that technically came AFTER?

Oh my God...

I don't know where this stupid idea came around and why everyone keeps perpetuating it, but Digimon was NOT made before Pokemon. Just look at Wikipedia, the years are all there:

Pokemon:
First game in 1996.
First anime in 1997.

Digimon:
First game (virtual pet) in 1997.
First anime in 1999.

I still don't think that Digimon "copied" Pokemon, but please stop trying to tell people that it came first.

Volkner's Apprentice September 28th, 2009 8:08 AM

Oh my lord, um..YES. It's fantastic. I was totally a Matt growing up, haha, I even plan on maybe getting a necklace or tattoo (..probably the former) of a crest of friendship. The show had it's ups and downs, and maybe was a little cheesier than Pokémon (also the battles in the beginning series weren't nearly as good in comparison) but I thought the plot was fantastic and then some. Loved it.

Still waiting for SOMEBODY to get home so we can watch the really cheap Digimon: The Movie I bought on ebay. >: (Haha, I'll be damned if he checks this.)

~*!*~Tatsujin Gosuto~*!*~ September 29th, 2009 2:30 PM

Nope, and I honestly think that Digimon is an copy off of Pokemon

I hate it.D:
I've only seen some of it, and I already started to dislike it. It just seems, eh. Boring.xD;
No offence anyone.

Haza September 29th, 2009 10:30 PM

I would like it a lot more if it was easier to undersand. I have tried to get into it but it was conflicting with what I like about Pokemon but its cool.

I'm trying not to be rude to you. But I have to say it: I hate your comment!!!

They are some totally different things. People tend to compare two similar things with each other. But what I really don't get is the fact that how can people compare two different things with each other? :\

Digimon was much better than Pokemon is now.(anime wise.)

I am not against pokemon but I think that these comparisons are made for the only reasons that their names sound similar and they deal with different creatures.

SO THEY ARE DIFFERENT!!! Also,
DIGIMON IS AWESOME!!!

Vorteld October 2nd, 2009 10:44 PM

Sorry, my heart have limited space for series about mosnters with special powers transforming into other monsters. When Digimon came to Noray, Pokémon was already too firmly rooted in my heart. No room for Digimon.

Misheard Whisper October 2nd, 2009 11:08 PM

I'm hypocritically saying no. Never seen an episode. All I'm going on is my bored wanderings around the Digimon Wiki. What I can say, though, is that it doesn't look like a Pokemon ripoff. The thing that I think causes most people to say that is the similarities in name. If you dig even just a tiny bit deeper, well. It's fairly obvious it's a different story altogether.

Digimon was actually modelled after Tamagotchi, which was made in 1996 as well, so they were made around the same time.

Queen October 3rd, 2009 12:08 AM

Digimon and Pokemon are two totally different shows.
They are NOT similar in anyways except that it features monsters, has digivolution and evolution and has "Mon" on the end.

Sora's Nobody October 6th, 2009 11:42 AM

Pokemon:1996 Digimon:1999

----MON: of course means Monster
Its an obvious Copy.
Lets see Poke=Pocket Digi=Digital Its the same obvious shortning of a word So Digimon= FAIL

Sorry this is just me meaning

Pikachu™ October 6th, 2009 11:48 AM

I used liked the series until they got rid of the old characters.

I looked some stuff up a while ago for nostalgia purposes, and the release date was apparently 1995/6, some time before Pokemon.

You might have been looking up Tamagotchi, which is different. For Christ's sake, just look it up on Wikipedia:

Why is everyone arguing?!
Pokemon has 3 evo lines Digimon has 5 evo lines (I think) Plus those 5 evo lines are all different species of the original digimon. Other then that.. it rules! Way better then pokemons anime! In digimon the battles are way cooler then pokemons lame fights

Theres 6, 5 are anime, and the other one is 3d animation (but that one has nothing to do with the digimon tamers)

SO TRUE!

Yeah I used to watch it alot, me and my friend were like obsessed, not so much now, it went downhill after the third series (the one was the cards, if i'm right) The first two series were awesome! :D

Pyrax October 9th, 2009 3:33 PM

I like digimon, but not as much as I did when I was younger.
