Obligatory 9/11 Thread
Our hearts go out to all involved in the tragedy.
Rest in peace x 3000 :< |
8th Anniversary.
R.I.P to those innocent lives that were lost. |
Just the other day I realized it was nearly the 11th and 8 years since 2001. It seems almost like a dream now.
I'm gonna go find something selfless to do. |
I was only about 7 or 8 when this happened, so the sad thing was I was only upset about the childrens programmes being cancelled in the UK for it.
But over the years I began to understand what happened and the grief and horror it caused. Just thinking about it now angers me, how so many innocent lives were cruelly cut short. And the soldiers who are still fighting today, they have my utmost respect. Rest in Peace... We'll never forget. |
All the terrible stories I've heard about this day afterwards.
A daughter getting angryand saying she heated her dad, and later that day he died in the towers. Just, so many more. I feel sorry for eveyone involved or otherwise tied. :'C |
I give my condolences to those who have been affected by such a tragedy...
|
I had no idea of this incident at the time. I was only 6 or 7 so my parents wouldn't tell me. When I did learn of it.. it was shocking. My heart really does go out to everyone who suffered from this attack.
|
I was around 7 when I heard about it.
R.I.P. all those innocent lives lost on 9/11 |
Omg! I totally forgot today was 9/11! Wow I feel stupid...I'm sorry for everyone who lost their lives 8 years ago. And for the families that lost loved ones.
|
Well we just watched the CNN Tribute Vid 4 APUSH today. Still powerful to see it today. =|
RIP... |
Rest in peace, to the victims, and live in peace, those left behind.
Existence is fragile, one light can go out at any point in time. Live well while you have life. |
Kudos to all the soliders stuck over there for fighting. For all those who lost a love one, bask in the light and love of the memories you have.
|
My thoughts go to everyone who was affected by this terrible event, eight years ago and today. God bless.
|
No-one mentioned this today despite talking about it all week.
R.I.P. |
I was only like seven, and I was in second grade. I remember when I walked into the classroom my teacher was skipping and spraying some Lysol. She was listening to the radio since she always did sometimes in class. Then she heard about it, and she sat down in her desk and started to cry. We didn't really know what was going on, since she turned the radio off. I don't really remember what I was thinking, but I know that I definantly was not happy. D:
|
I remember that my principal wouldn't let us watch it happen. See, I was in fourth grade, and he knew that fourth graders wouldn't understand what was happening. I guess he was trying to shield us or something.
It's unbelievable that eight years have passed since 9/11/01. Strangely enough, I haven't seen anything on the TV about it today... R.I.P. |

I'm totally against them declaring it a national holiday though. Knowing this country we'd end up with 9/11 barbecues and sales which would just be so disrespectful... |
I was only seven when the incident happened so I did not know anything about it until awhile later.
Took me a few years to find out what really happened and to just see the horror that it was. Rest In Peace to those who lost their lives that day. |
I give my condolences to the people who were caught inside this tragedy, both directly and indirectly, but I don't see how people keep treating this as the most tragic thing to ever happen. I treated the second of September much more seriously since 2 atomic bombs were used on Japan, resulting in roughly 150,000 casualties.
|
Well, to be honest, I forgot it. Call me all the horrible names you want, but it's because it's not September 11, 2001. It's September 11, 2009. Rather than dwelling on the past, we should be constructing ways to prevent it coming again. People died, the buildings collapsed, the pride of America was shattered (for like 3 days) but it's not like we can do anything to reverse what happened. It's time to move on.

Plus, I could've sworn the bombing, V-J Day, was like in August n_n; Quote:
3..days? lol the twin towers were still smoldering by Thanksgiving :\ And, while it's good to move on in general, a lot of people died, and to move on completely would just be disrespectful to the people who died. :[ In Federal Government and also in Theatre we watched United Flight 93 over the past week. That nearly made me bawl. :{ Then, we watched clips from 9/11 today. :[ It's pretty saddening. I found out about 9/11 in 4th grade. Our teacher got a phone call from her daughter, and then she, dumbstruck, informed us. Then, we were brought to the gym where the principal talked to us. Not comprehending the entire situation, I asked when Drama club started. It wasn't until a few days later when I actually saw footage from 9/11, people jumping out of the towers.. well it hit me. People really did die. And, yeah. When you actually visit Ground Zero in NYC, and see all the pictures that children drew for their deceased parents, it's rather moving. :[[[[ |
People died, but rather than mope around and do nothing, we should be using this day to inform and prevent, so that such an event never happens again, and if some event similar to it were to happen again, we as a group would be prepared.
I ****ING LOVE IT WHEN PEOPLE MISS THE POINT |

You sound like you're talking about fire prevention or something. |
Well, don't you think that if 9/11 was used to educate rather than to go on a pity streak, that it could be constructive towards life preservation in the future if such an attack were to happen again?
Also, what annoys me juuuust a tad is the fact that the day ended with only one plane crashing in a field, rather than all four of them. If there's a bunch of al'Quida or other terrorist group that apprehends your flight, there's little chance you're gonna make it out, so do whatever it takes to beat the living **** outta them! You may not survive, but you would have saved the lives of thousands of others. GET CONTROL OF THAT PLANE AND GET IT OUT OF HARM'S WAY. But because they would rather be timid, and not stand up to what's wrong, a lotta more people had to die. It makes me quite upset. I ALSO LOVE HOW ALL OF YOU ARE FORGETTING ABOUT THE PENTAGON |

And I don't like the fact that most of it was because of pearl harbor. Did Truman think the ultimate way to even it out was by severely tipping the death ratio? He didn't even succeed much, because people could still be alive when that happened, and most of them would die of radiation, starvation, or a list of other reasons. And if my source is correct, only 6,000 people died in the U.S. Whoops, I think Japan gave up on September 2nd, you were right. And personally, I don't see why they just didn't drop "Fat man" or "little boy" on Nazi Germany, one of the major reasons, if not the one, for world war 2. I'm not a political buff so please feel free to correct me if I said anything stupid or wrong. |
