HM07 Watterfall - Also same. = In ice path.

A: Take Togepi's egg from the Violet City's mart.

A: Ya have to have your version legendary. That means fly to Ecruteak, beat Kimono Girls and then fly to your legend's location and capture it.
Q: Where's Machine Part?
A: This picture will help.

I hearby endorse this thread. =)

We'll have it as a Help thread of sorts - as people keep asking questions about parts they get stuck in, this can serve as a Help for them.

I'll note a few common problems:
  • To be able to head towards Union Cave/Azelea Town south from Violet City, you have to beat Sprout Tower, the Gym, and then accept the Egg from Elm's aide, who will be standing in Violet City's PokeMart. (Not the Pokemon Centre).
  • To get Cut, you have to catch both Farfetch'd. Distract them into looking in one direction by steping on a bracnh, and then approach them and press A on them while they are still looking the other way (i.e. then approach them via a route eithout a branch in the way). For the second one, have him in the top right-hand corner of the four places it can be and have it looking downwards - then go around and interact with it from the left side).
  • To get Whitney to appear in her gym, you have to get the Radio Card from Radio Tower in Goldenrod. You have to do a quiz - the answers are Top, Top, Bottom, Top and Bottom in that order.

Thanks :)
And also thanks for the egg help :)

Alright, I've got a question, where might I find myself a Leaf Stone?

Tochukaso September 11th, 2009 11:29 PM

im having problems with soulsilver. i patched it with an anti-freeze patch but it still freezes often- i have to save after every trainer. any suggestions?

Ooka September 11th, 2009 11:34 PM

Sorry, but ROM talk isn't encouraged around here, but I can suggest that you import the game, you wouldn't have any problems then. :P

Does that mean it could possibly get a sticky, to prevent it from falling into the recess of backthreads pages back.

Hmm...No questions for now, but that's because I'm not very far in.
Expect a question or too later, if I'm not too determined to try it alone.
Albeit that, If I do do it alone, I will post here for anyone that asks a question on soemthing that I've already past.

We're allowed answer that question dude. We're just not allowed link to roms.

As for you Tochukaso, I suggest using the IdeaS emulator(use google to find it) because it's working VERY well for me and I've experienced no freezing and/or slowing down like I did on No$GBA and DeSmuME.

The Fourteenth Doctor September 12th, 2009 12:14 AM

Where can i find a Fire Stone?

bobandbill September 12th, 2009 12:25 AM

For the 'where do I get ___ Stone' questions - I don't know specific locations, but I do know that a Crystal method exists for HG/SS. Basically, some people will give you a phone number once you beat them - in Crystal and HG/SS, at times they will call you and when you go visit them they'll give you an item, such as the Stones! So for instance Leaf Stone can be gotten from the Picknicker girl by the Day Care Center you gives you her number.

Maybe. Probably as more get their games and all, methinks, or maybe sooner...

Mew~ September 12th, 2009 12:26 AM

How do i catch that farfetched it keeps runing away

Andrew McKenzie September 12th, 2009 12:29 AM

You have to watch out for the sticks on the ground, if you step on them, it turns to a different direction.

I suggest you check out the walkthrough on Pokebeach's main site in their HG/SS Section on the side menu.
They're up as far as Goldenrod so it should help.

I honestly think that explained it pretty well. :P

In the city with the first gym badge; what does the boy want to trade? (he is in the house on the bottom left of the poke-centre.)

(both recieving and giving)

ShinyMeganium September 12th, 2009 1:52 AM

Tip: you can't get to Jasmine from the lift. Go up the stairs, and eventually you'll find an open window you can go through. Then you'll have a 3D thing and you'll have access to more trainers and then her/her Ampharos.

I think he wants to trade Onix in exchange for Bellsprout if it hasnt changed from gsc

bobandbill September 12th, 2009 2:27 AM

^ Can confirm that it's the same as GSC with the trade - guy in Violet City trades you a (nicknamed, methinks) Onix for a Bellsprout, and I think it comes with a berry as well....

Man on the 5th level of the Goldenrod Dept. Store also trades a Machop for your Drowzee, again like GSC. It appears to have had the Macho Brace or a similar-looking item attached to it... neat.

Andrew McKenzie September 12th, 2009 4:01 AM

So, has anyone found Giovanni yet?
Or how to re-battle gym leaders?

It's frustrating like, everyone on every major Pokemon site such as Serebii, Pokebeach, Marilland and Bulbapedia.
And here to it may be.

EDIT: Giovanni's team has been confirmed on Bulbapedia Forums but not his location.
Same goes for the person tagging along with him, Gideon(Guy in FR/LG who hints at Silver being Gio's son...And he also disbands the reformed TR on Sevii Islands in FR/LG, which is probably when he went and found Giovanni).

Ooka, Dunsparce posted a list in the "new eggmoves/tutors" thread, or something similar.

Ok, after I got the 8th Badge, I went to Elm, got the masterball (I think) and did all that, what am I suppose to do next? The other trainer keeps stopping me before I can surf to the east.

Battle the Kimono Girls in Ecruteak, and then get your version's legendary.

No, the Orange Islands are not in the game.

Pikachu-Coloured Pichu is an Event Pokemon. Unless you live in Japan, the only way you can possibly get one is by trading with someone else.

Notched-Ear Pichu is obtained by having the Pikachu-Coloured Pichu in your party as your partner Pokemon and going up to the Ilex Forest Shrine.

The Pikachu Colored Pichu should be obtained from the 12th Movie event. With this, then having the Pikachu Colored Pichu in your game and taking it with you to Ilex Forest [it might have to be the first in your party] you should come across the Notch Eared Pichu. After this the in-game event should play off and the Notch Eared Pichu should join your team.

I got the fix+Eng patch on mine. Running on CycloDS

I use Acekard 2i and that happens to me a couple of times but since it happens I remember to save often.

Also the trade in Goldenrod is a Drowzee and in Crystal it was a abra so I got mixed up with that :S

I have a question. I found the pokethlon but then I talk to those reception people then they talk about something a nd the only thing I understand is t he "3"?! How do I do the Pokethlon?

Tuskin September 12th, 2009 12:48 PM

Where exactly is the machine part in the Cerulean Gym?

ShinyMeganium September 12th, 2009 1:16 PM

How can I wake the Snorlax up? I think I have the EXPN card already...I did the mission with the rocket thing and I talked to the guy who gives the EXPN card.

Above me - behind the furthest parasols from the door (closest to Misty's position)

No they don't. According the Pokedex they are found wild, however, it has to be activated and that has yet to be discovered.

On top of this, Gym Leaders can have 4th gen Pokemon - when you re-battle them after the Elite Four and all, that is.

IDK, but the problem may possibly be that you have to get Misty into the gym first, I heard...?

Someone already answered where it is. But I found out you have to fight the rocket on the nugget bridge before you can pick it up.

Right now I'm trying to figure out how to wake up the Snorlax, its not the same as the originals.

Megaman765 September 12th, 2009 5:27 PM

I got a question about 4th gen evolutions, If something like Aipom learns Double hit and levels, Well it still evolve to ambipom?

yvette September 12th, 2009 5:55 PM

After recieving the PokéDex trade between DPPt and HGSS is allowed without any restrictions. So with this being said if, a Pokémon such as Aipom were to learn Double Hit to evolve into Ambipom, then it should be able to do so successfully.

You are not required to capture the Farfetch'd in the Ilex Forest. You are required to chase after it until it finally returns back to the trainer. So continue on until the short quest is complete. As a helpful tip though, I do believe cornering it will be needed.

You can defeat all the Kimono girls after recieving all your 8 badges. Once this is complete, then with the Kimono girl's help you should be able to unlock Lugia at the Whirl Islands and go for the capture if that is what you plan to do.

According to Bulbapedia's locations Poliwag is not found within the game. Now, I am not sure how true this may be as not all locations have been compeletly specified on as yet. However, like I stated before, after obtaining the PokéDex you are able to trade between HGSS and DPPt without any restrictions. So, you will be permitted to trade over your Poliwag egg into your Johto game.

DonRoyale September 12th, 2009 7:19 PM

A) Which nests does the game utilize? G/S', Crystal's, or its own?
-If it uses its own, how far off are the nests from those of G/S, or Crystal?
-For that matter, what changes are there?

I'm suprised this question hasn't been asked already.

I ask because I want to know if I can find a Poliwag on the route north of Cherrygrove, or if Gligar's a HeartGold exclusive.

☆DiaIsDia☆ September 12th, 2009 7:23 PM

Yeah, what are the game exclusives if they DO have game exclusivs?

I found a Poliwag when fishing in Ercuteak/Surfing in ponds around htere, Violet City and Cheerygrove... most definitely not missing from HG/SS.

EDIT - my bet on Swinub would be the Ice Path as well.

I thought Poliwag shouldn't have been missing noting how it is a Johto type Pokémon. Great for the extra information however and it only proves my point on how not all sites and places have completely specified each location for each Pokémon. Though, trade is still available needless to say as well as capturing it.

As for Swinub, my guess as well goes to the Ice Path and probably later on along the game upon Mt. Silver in the snow-filled area closer to the journey towards Red.

DonRoyale September 12th, 2009 7:57 PM

Bulbapedia isn't the place to be trying to figure out where things in HG/SS are found. If you take a close look at the encounter list, according to them, Pidgey is also unavailable in HG/SS. It's just that it's taking Bulbapedia some time to edit all the encounter lists for HG/SS because they don't know them all yet. I'm sure we'll figure it out soon enough. :V

My question was just asking if anyone knew any encounters, that it would be helpful to have them posted here.

True but when Platinum was coming out, didn't the exclusives come out early?

Ellie September 12th, 2009 10:57 PM

Well since Bulbapedia is a user-based information database, how long it takes to get up depends on how fast the users choose to put it up. If you want it quickly, you should go to a site that's consistently updated, like Serebii, Psypoke, etc.

I don't really know I gotta say...
But the thing is... HG/SS is bigger since it has Johto and Kanto so exclusives will be harder to find

If I recall correctly, you run into someone on the way to... Mahogany Town(?). I know that it's part of the storyline, you won't miss it.

I see then... thanks I thought I'd have to have it in Olivine

So...

For anyone who's still stumped on Giovanni(probably not anymore though) and is very prone to repeated asking, like I was, Serebii has cracked it.

Check his posts HERE and HERE

Mystery Gift

ive preordered SS and i was wondering (and nobodies asked yet) how do you activate mystery gift,
would it be the same as the original GS. if anyone knows please post will be much appreciated especially with the first event this friday.

bobandbill September 13th, 2009 4:48 AM

^ Merged with the Questions/Answers thread here.

EDIT: from the words of serebii:
Quote:

Oh, never mind, Mystery Gift is available from the get go

Score
So you just have to get the wifi connection for your ds set up and choose Mystery Gift --> Nintendo Wifi from the game menu screen when you start it up, really - like the other 4th gen games.

^This also merged here.

IDK about moon stones, but for the others, some people will give you their phone number when you battle them, and call you - at times if you visit them when they call you, they may give you a stone. For instance, the Picknicker by the Day Care gives Leaf Stone, boy by the Sudowoodo Fire stones, and a girl in-between Ercuteak (west of it) and Moo Moo Farm thunderstones, from memory. (It's the same as Crystal, really).

How do you get past the Rocket on the bottom floor of the Radio Tower? (This is when they have taken over the Tower, and the guy is blocking the stairway)

To answer your question, you must defeat the Sage at the top of Bellsprout Tower. (The last one on the last floor)

Maybe strange, although I doubt that since the Power Plant is being used in these games, they'd just let a legendary sit in there either...

Strnage or not though - that's a legit image - Zapdos can be found there.

lol why do theybut im not sure cus im playing a raw version i dont know whats what sorry

Satoshi Ookami September 13th, 2009 5:48 AM

Zappy's there because he doesn't have place in Power Plant :)
And Kyogre quoted by Serebii.net
Spoiler:
Kyogre & Groudon are both available within this game. To access them, you need to obtain the Blue Orb if in Heart Gold or the Red Orb if in Soul Silver. These orbs are found from Mr. Pokémon after you have obtained the National Dex and received the Kanto starters from Professor Oak. With these orbs in hand, you need to head to a cave in Route 47, the Hidden Tower. Traverse the cave and you will find Kyogre if you're playing Heart Gold or Groudon if you are playing Soul Silver. They are at Level 50 so be prepared. Unlike Lugia & Ho-Oh, you cannot get both Pokémon in one game so you'll have to trade to get both.

It's Farfetch'd ;)
Answer is here

For the second one, have him in the top right-hand corner of the four places it can be and have it looking downwards - then go around and interact with it from the left side).

Shiny Stone is a stone used for evolution. The picture is a semi-translucent yellow/gold stone.

Your posts make me cry because of massive grammar-fail.

It's on the left of the list when you click your Pidgey.

Creqaw September 13th, 2009 7:46 AM
