I beat the 3rd gym and headed to the next and met Bill, And went back to Goldenrod and got a eeve and started to train it. I was around Violet City and the battle I got into sounded abit different, Raikou appeared. Not having any moves to keep it there I tried to throw a pokeball at it, And if it would of shook one more time I would of caught it. eevee is now level 11. :]

I managed to beat him when all my pokemon were around that level as well... though it took a lot of revives... LOL.

I just had the most awesome time getting a Notched-Eared-Pichu. :D
And watching the creation thingo for summoning a lvl 1 Dialga... it was trippy... :D
Oh and I went in and out of Goldenrod about 50 times til I finally caught Entei and Raikou. lol.

Haven't been here for a long time. I also didn't have much time to play.
So, I am currently in Ecruteak, after defeating Morty.

Location: Ecruteak City - Pokémon Center
Team: Slowpoke (24), Quilava (25), Flaaffy (24 - thinking about switching with Magnemite ...), Crobat (24 - evolved on 23 lvl)
Now I'm gonna get to Olivine. I mean, in the next days ... :)

I've decided my team: Slowbro, Crobat, Typhlosion, probably Magneton (I don't think Magnezone is available ...), Umbreon, Hitmonlee.

KEEP THE FLAAFY! ;)
Nice team too, you should probably invest in a ground type or something... Because all your pokes would get owned against electric really... flaaffy might have a slight chance...

w00t, did anyone else get a shiny hoenn starter? ( i did a lot of resets, but it just payed off)

I think i ended with 1 pokemon left while fighting Lapras (which was the last pokemon for me), my Wailord used Rain Dance and then ended up with about 7HP left, i used a max revive on Luxray and 2HKOed Lapras with Thunder, on my new game i'm going to raise my team to at least level 80 so that i stand more of a chance against him (e.g. so i don't get 1HKOed by Pikachu's Iron Tail)

Current Progress: Battling team Rocket at the Mahogany Town base.

My team:

Feraligatr Lv52

Added the red Gyarados to my team as another HM Slave

Rainflower September 23rd, 2009 4:17 AM

- went through ilex forest and captured oddish. i'll probably not going to use it though ;3;
- arrived on goldenrod! went further from the city to train pokemon a little while.
- battled whitney. clefairy was very easy, but miltank? srsly annoying >_>
- captured a sunkern on the national park. saving it in the PC and going to train it after i beat morty.
- arrived on ecruteak after beating the sudowoodo XD training vulpix also.
- battled the rival (i think i named him "haru", sorry for the lack of hiragana/katakana skill, i only know few words) on the burned tower.
- encountered raikou two times. it's useless for me ATM since i don't have any ultra balls.
- first attempt on the gym: the move curse, hypnosis, and lack of awakening ruined my team, so i restarted. gladly i managed to save the game just before i battled morty.
- currently training in the route next to ecruteak.. only battled some trainers though. >___>

current team:
- Croconaw (lv. 27)
- Pidgeotto (lv. 27)
- Flaafy (lv. 27)
- Vulpix (lv. 26)

i'm also looking for sun stone now. xD

I only see a Feraligatr? lol.
Sounds like I'm not the only one who had a really difficult time with Red either. :3

Get Croconaw to use bite! That is epic win...

Just got me a Latios, and called it Latiko. :3

Yeah, i decided to do a solo run challenge with only my starter, i did one on in Emerald or Sapphire once with Swampert, i did one in Platinum so i decided to do one on Heart Gold, the challenge ends once i beat the elite 4 for the first time, at that point i will copy some pokemon from Platinum using Pokesav

I think you get a sun stone when you win the bug catching contest

Update:

Current Progress: Just beaten Pryce, going to leave the gym and head to Goldenrod to battle Team Rocket again.

Feraligatr Lv54

Feraligatr Lv54

Nice work dude, sounds like you'll have a lvl 85 Feraligatr by the end of your challenge. Can it learn thunder fang? :)

You think so?
Well, I don't know. To be honest, I'm not afraid of Ground types, because of Crobat (immunity) and Slowpoke (effective), it wouldn't be effective against Umbreon and Hitmonlee, too.
Anyway, I usually have trouble against Electric-type Pokémon. But I gotta have a STEEL-type Pokémon in my team. I'd guess Steelix would be the best choice. But I don't think it is possible to catch a wild one ...

no it can't learn Thunder Fang or any electric move, i just checked Bulbapedia, it will probably be about level 65 once i defeat the elite 4 (if i don't make it through the first time it will probably be higher)

Update:

Current Progress:

Just beat Clair, going to Dragon's den, i'm not going to bother trying to answer the questions correctly as i already have the extremespeed dratini on my other save file

Feraligatr Lv64

Update 2:

Got the 8th badge, got the masterball from Elm and defeated the Kimono girls in Ecruteak City, climbed to the top of Tin Tower and caught Ho-oh, defeated the rival and arrived at the indigo plateau, going to heal my pokemon and challenge the league.

Feraligatr Lv70

Update 3:

Just defeated the elite 4, making that the end of my solo run challenge (didn't want to do the whole 16 badges), once the game has finished the hall of fame stuff i will use pokesav to copy two or three pokemon from platinum, i'll be lowering their levels to match Feraligatr (one of them is level 78)

Feraligatr Lv73

KamikazeAids September 23rd, 2009 11:22 AM

I was training my Eevee Just south of goldenrod city, I was talking to it frequently to find it's happiness so I can get a Espeon, It began twirling and saying it's cry, Eevee found a golden leaf.

The Fourteenth Doctor September 23rd, 2009 11:36 AM

Finally copied Espeon and Infernape from Platinum using pokesav, i still needed 3 more pokemon to complete my team so i downloaded Togekiss, Rhyperior and Spiritomb from the project pokemon website (.pkmn files), i just modified their levels to match Feraligatr and saved the file. About to head across to Kanto with my new team.

My Team:

Feraligatr Lv73 [Hydro Cannon, Surf, Blizzard, Ice Beam]
Infernape Lv73 [Overheat, Close Combat, Flamethrower, Flare Blitz]
Rhyperior Lv73 [Thunderbolt, Rock Wrecker, Stone Edge, Earthquake]
Espeon Lv73 [Psychic, Psybeam, Calm Mind, Reflect]
Spiritomb Lv73 [Dark Pulse, Shadow Ball, Omnious Wind, Sucker Punch]
Togekiss Lv73 [Fly, Air Slash, Sky Attack, Aura Sphere]

New movesets for my pokemon are now listed above, may replace Spiritomb's Hypnosis with another move, i may also do the same with Togekiss' Double Edge.

Edit: Changed a few pokemon's move via the move relearner, changes will be shown in bold above

That is some nice movesets you have there... I might even borrow a couple of them, except for flare blitz of course. :P

My Dialga and Latios are both nearly level 100 now... :D

lol yeah, people see Feraligatr go from Level 50-70 in a day lol, i didn't expect him to be at level 70 at the elite 4, i thought he would end up more like 60-65

thanks, i wanted to make sure each pokemon had a move of it's type (e.g. ghost and dark moves for Spiritomb), i also taught Espeon calm mind to get a chance to one hit ko the opponent

kohei September 23rd, 2009 6:46 PM

Beat all 8 Gyms, caught my Lugia, went up to E4.

Haven't progressed far from here, since the Pokeathlons are so fun!
My Togechick is a 5-medal athlete right now, and we only need to break the top record for Pokesaucer to get into the 2nd "exclusive" room.

Rainflower September 23rd, 2009 9:19 PM

+ my 3rd attempt to fight morty:
- he uses gastly, i used croconaw's bite to OHKO it.
- then he releases gengar, i released pidgeotto. shadow ball didn't managed to damage, but the move hypnosis still managed to get me although i lowered the accuracy 'till the limit. (i only used 3 or 2 awakenings, since none of gengar attacks will hit pidgeotto) reducing gengar's hp slowly by gust and twister ;D sucker punch wasn't a big deal. lol
- i OHKO'd the haunters with croconaw's bite of course XD
+ got the fog badge! progressing further to olivine city..
+ evolved croconaw and flaaffy.
+ met jasmine and amphy.
+ getting to ciandwood atm. what i'm supposed to do next? the old man's blocking the only route to get there.

The Fourteenth Doctor September 24th, 2009 3:09 AM

Arrived in Kanto last night, i defeated the trainers in Vermillion Gym, once i'd done that i decided to get the gym badges in order (starting with Brock and finish with Green), i left it at that last night and put my ds away for the night.

This morning i headed straight for Cerulean town, battling all the trainers on the way. Passed through Cerulean City and onto the route to the right leading to the power plant, i surfed down to the power plant and spoke to the guy there, i got stopped by the guard on the way out who presumably asked for my co-operation, i returned to Cerulean City and entered the gym where i spotted the Rocket Grunt, he babbled a load of japanese and left the building, i cornered him on route 25 and battled him, i returned to the gym and obtained the machine part, i gave it back to the guy at the power plant and flew to Lavender town, i obtained the EXPN card from the radio tower and returned to Vermillion City, i caught the Snorlax and headed through the tunnel to Pewter City, i walked to Pallet town avoiding all the trainers (wanted to battle them as i headed north), i spoke to Professor Oak and eventually left his lab, i headed back to Pewter City battling all the trainers along the way.

When i arrived in Pewter City i healed my pokemon and headed straight for the gym. I battled the trainers in the gym then spoke to Brock and challenged him to a battle.

Brock was easy to defeat, all of his pokemon were One Hit Knock Outs.

My Team:

Feraligatr Lv76
Infernape Lv75
Espeon Lv75
Rhyperior Lv75
Spiritomb Lv75
Togekiss Lv75

Damn it's been a while (it was like a week since I did that bit, and yes, it's a long time for me)...

I've just been levelling like maddddd.... I have about 5 lvl 100s now.
I also managed to sucessfully breed a shiny shuckle... :|

The Fourteenth Doctor September 24th, 2009 5:51 AM

Haven't made much progress in the game, switched to Kazo's english patch as it's more up to date, found out that the hg/ss gym editing program works (it didn't work when i used Raqib's patch) to make the rest of the game more challenging (as i have a team at level 76) i raised all the Kanto gym leader levels by 20-30 (Misty has Lv70-74, Green has Lv81-86 pokemon), i've also increased Red's levels by 10.

Note: Hopefully i'm not posting anything i shouldn't be (e.g. emulation), i will edit this if it isn't allowed

My Team:

Feraligatr Lv76
Infernape Lv76
Espeon Lv76
Spiritomb Lv76
Rhyperior Lv76
Togekiss Lv76

Update: Just defeated Misty, i'm glad i made it more challenging otherwise it would have been too easy, i swapped her Quagsire for a Milotic which made it even harder as it doesn't have a second type (e.g. Psychic), her Golduck was Lv70, her Milotic was Lv70, her Lapras was Lv73 and her Starmie was Lv75, i'm looking forward to battling Lt.Surge now as he will be just as hard to defeat.

My Team:

Feraligatr Lv77
Infernape Lv77
Espeon Lv77
Spiritomb Lv78
Rhyperior Lv77
Togekiss Lv78

Update: Defeated Surge, on the way to Celadon via Rock Tunnel, Rhyperior is now Lv79

Alucus_Of_Borg September 24th, 2009 9:40 AM

I actually won a bug catching contest the other day the first time ever i never wone one in the origional games, this time the first one i enter i win :D

The Fourteenth Doctor September 24th, 2009 10:08 AM

Defeated Erika, i should have increased the levels even more for her and Surge (she had (Jumpluff Lv75, Tangrowth Lv76, Victreebel Lv78, Bellossom Lv78), i know for a fact that Sabrina will be tougher, i'll find out when i get there.

My Team:

Feraligatr Lv77
Infernape Lv79
Espeon Lv77
Rhyperior Lv79
Spiritomb Lv79
Togekiss Lv78

Update 2:

Just defeated Sabrina, going to return to Lavender town and head south to Fuschia City(can't go on cycling lane as i never picked up the bike lol)

ben_pokemon September 24th, 2009 10:39 AM

Chapter I: A Pure Beginning
I restarted my HeartGold as I with excitement started the game as I quit the last one because of cheating. It is time for a pure beginning. I picked the male player and named him Ben as short of my name.

I got the call from Prof. Elm as I rushed to the lab I crushed into one hyperactive Marill as soon as I spotted a very pretty young girl. Marill jumped into her arms as she slowly turn and ran. I didn't get a chance to meet her though.

As I entered the lab I felt overwhelmed with such knowledge and books as I spotted my second idol Prof. Elm. Besides Oak he was very famous on his research on recently discovered Pichu. He asked me to visit Mr. Pokemon for some important information. He also let me pick one of those three Pokemon. So I stood in front of the white machine and the glass cover through which I could see three Pokeballs.

I decided to pick something different this time so picked...

Chikorita
Male - LV 5

Nickname: Chico
Stat Boost: Speed
Nature: ???

I quickly befriend that little buddy as I decided to keep him out of the ball so we could share the traveling excitement together. As I left the lab with the helpful Potions I got from the Elms aide, the same pretty girl with her Marill started approaching me.

She revealed her name was Kotone and she was just as a beginner as me. She was rather surprised to see Chikorita already taken as she wanted one, well too bad :D

It was THE day. It was time to say goodbye to my mom. It hard though, farewells are always hard. She hugged me after she revealed to have bought a brand new POKeGEAR. I was so excited!!

And so I went out in the wildness of the route 29. Who knows what kind of new adventures are awaiting for me...we will just have to wait and see.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can someone help me to determine the nature of Chico? Its boost stat is Speed.

mewunlimited September 24th, 2009 10:42 AM

Just got my chikorita (grass types rule). Proceeded to get togepi (Eggy)

Falkner was a bit of a problem. Why couldnt he just have 2 pidgey and a hoothoot. Indtead he opted to go for steroids and get a lv 13 Pidgeotto.

Actually, He got it from viridian forest because I saw a lv 13 pidgeotto on my cousins playfile. Strange.

lv 15 Chikorita
lv 13 Togepi

I used the onix that guy gave me to destroy falkner. Then dumped it in my box.

edit: uh, Ben, we need to know its stat boost and its stat reduction. For example, jolly is +Speed -SAtk and timid is +Speed -Atk

ben_pokemon September 24th, 2009 10:49 AM

UPDATE: I entered the route with my tough little friend as our training has already began. I know what is my goal, to become the champion of Johto and I know it is my destiny. So I trained all the afternoon with Chico.

Status:
Chico - LV 7
Attacks:
- Tackle
- Growl
- Razor Leaf

I met an kind old man who guided through the town showing off the Pokemon Centres and PokeMarts, I kept refusing to go, but he was so persistent. At the end I got running shoes and the map upload for my PokeGear so RUN AWAY!!!!
