Ok now for the next questions:
1. Where do you get it?
2. Do you have to keep re-using it every time you want old style music?

Ivysaur September 12th, 2009 1:26 PM

I'll be using it for 90% of the game XD

There is a "GBC Talking to Prof Oak in Mr Pokémon's house" theme in the Soundtrack so I guess you must get it pretty soon...

Wait actually there is a "GBC Intro theme (I and II)". Maybe it's a game option?

1) Celedon Game Freak Building Place, 3rd Floor after defeating all 16 Gym Leaders.

2) It's a toggle thing, You 'use' it and it turns all music into G/S music, 'Use' it again and it turns it all back. I've registered it to the second Register Slot so I can toggle as I please on the bottom screen as I roam Johto/Kanto.

This is something I will definitely take good use of. To listen to the original Gold and Silver game music will be a bonus to this game. Also, it has been said that you may also use the original sound during battle as well, so I think many with this will abuse enjoy this feature nevertheless.

Tuskin September 12th, 2009 1:57 PM

I want a action replay code just for this item.haha. I don't want to beat all 16 gyms :P

Chris The Nerd September 12th, 2009 2:25 PM

this is the best feature since sliced bread.

Six Of Spades September 12th, 2009 2:34 PM

Eh. It's cute, but I dunno if I'll use it often. They're also not exactly the old chiptunes, they're just in 8-Bit. But nostalgia's not much of a factor for me.

Fenrir Reki September 12th, 2009 2:37 PM

I guess its a useful tool. I dont know if I will actually be using it though since I never really payed attention to the original G/S music. If I do though, I can have fun pokemon battles with original music!

I 100% agree with this. I'll be using this feature since I think the new music kinda sucks

Sakura Rain September 16th, 2009 6:37 PM

This is much epicness. Nostalgia's a huge factor for me, so I'll enjoy using this.

Tyrantrum September 16th, 2009 6:50 PM

Me and my blind self did not notice this thread... Sorry. :(

Anyway, I love this feature so much. Great job, Nintendo! :D

シルバー September 16th, 2009 6:54 PM

Oh my, yes!

Now I won't have to listen to my iPod when I'm battling Silver :D
-Yes, I have Silver's theme on my iPod XD-

PrismoStar September 16th, 2009 6:54 PM

OMG! Nintendo has never ceased to amaze me. I thought I was re-living the old GBC days, but now...dang! I can do that with the old school music? YES! FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!! :D

Dr Gregory House September 16th, 2009 7:11 PM

Nintendo has officially just made this game even more awesome. :D
it sounds like a really cool feature

Blaziken257 September 16th, 2009 7:21 PM

I always liked the original music, so I will definitely use this item. From looking at some videos on YouTube, though, they don't sound exactly the same, though (though they still sound great, for the most part). Ice Path, in particular, sounds a bit... muddier than the original. Oh well.

And the new songs are converted to 8-bit as well... cool.

Youtube diminishes sound quality, so keep that in mind.

And it's kinda disheartening to see that everyone's just bashing and casting away the remixed music just so they can hug their 8-bit music.

The remixes aren't nearly getting enough credit. While I will admit some aren't as spectacular, the majority of them are simply stunning. (In my opinion at least)

Munch Dog September 16th, 2009 9:29 PM

I love the new mixes. Though I also loved the original music back in the days of G/S/C so it'll be hard deciding what to use when. Though I saw a few videos with people using the GB Player, it seems kind of weird, playing a DS style G/S playing with the original 8-bit music. Especially in battles. >.>

Haza September 16th, 2009 10:26 PM

I wont be needing it. The new music is better in my opinion. Its the perfect mix of nostalgia and new pop cuteness.

beauty. proletariat September 16th, 2009 11:52 PM

I'll use it for a while; that is, until i get bored of it which will happen after i reach the bottom floor of the radio tower.

cut

mervyn797 September 17th, 2009 4:39 AM

This should answer your question:

I think that the new remixed music is really nice. I am sure that nearly all of us may have liked the new music but some may want to use the player sometimes.(maybe to compare between the different tunes or something.)

Its just a matter of preferences according to me.

Rich Boy Rob September 17th, 2009 7:05 AM

Woah! I'm definitely using that for like 95% of the time I play once I get it!

Ah yes, the sliced bread feature. 'Twas revolutionary in games of old.

Late September 17th, 2009 9:39 AM

First I play Heart Gold with new sounds, when I beat Red I go and ask that guy to give me GB player, then I play with old sounds forever :D I like new songs but I want something old to there too. There's few songs that I don't like in Heart Gold (new Sprout Tower music) and this is just for that. Why didn't they make this kind of item in FR/LG too?
