Halo 3: ODST

Just find this Halo 3: ODST for $30 bucks, is it worthy the money? I would get it for my next game if possible, what do you think?

Captain Fabio September 23rd, 2009 4:44 AM

My friend completed it within 24 hours of the release.

That is just poor and he didn't even constantly play it.

Once again, it is a let down for Halo.

Halo had been a let down since the release of the 2nd game.

I beat Mirror's Edge about 3 hours after I popped it in. Most games are short nowadays, what's your point?

I beat Portal in probably two hours, and it was some of the most fun I ever had. Avatar has a good point here. Any other reason why TS should not get it?

Fox♠ September 23rd, 2009 7:19 AM

For $30 then yeah. I mean that's not really that much.

Sounds like he needs to raise the difficulty level.

Haha... yeah... Everything is more clear on Legendary. >.> *dies for the 329037432867980 time*

I plan to buy it on friday, or some day I won't be too distracted from school work.

The amount of money that we are all paying for games now is getting very expensive.
I at least expect some value for money.

We are paying for graphics and not gameplay.
However, there are exceptions to the rule, of course.

My 'point' is that for the money we pay, games should be longer in length, if it suits the game.
Take ODST for example, that is just a money printing machine.
The whole Halo theme is.

I would rather pay that full amount of money for something original and worth it, than a remake of a previous game that has a few changes.

I am not trying to start an argument, so if you do, I will just ignore it.

Because the selling point is the campaign.

Firefight, Recon, Halo 3 DLC free, new ODST maps and of course the campaign, no matter how short it is, make it worth it.

I admit I'll probably still play on 3 more if I buy it but it isn't a poor game.

Now this is a kick in the teeth for a lot of people who have Halo 3.

A lot of people know, if you play online, once the new maps start popping up, then a lot of the games will be on there, so you are stuck with the old ones and won't be able to join.
So it almost forces people to buy the new packs.

Now you buy this game and get them all free.
That is a little unfair if you ask me :/

But I am getting side tracked here.

No you don't. You're ragging a franchise on a console you don't own in a childish manner much like you did in the console thread.

I personally don't give a rats ass about Halo (Marathon is better), but you're not being constructive in any threads in this section that I've seen short of the PS3 centric threads.

God forbid that Microsoft wants to maximize profit. Sony does too, as does Nintendo.

Please do. You have nothing worthwhile to contribute anyway.

I completed soul silver before release, what's your point. :\

Alex_ September 23rd, 2009 11:35 AM

Alinthea, what is the point in posting? The guy asked if it was worth 30 bucks, you don't own the game so who are you to come in here and tell him it's not? We get it, you're a typical PS3 fanboy. But do you really need to reiterate that with EVERY thread in OG? It gets old, Avatar is right. Go troll somewhere else.

Anyway, coming from someone who actually owns the game, if you can get it for 30 bucks that's a steal. I'm fine paying the standard $60 for it. I feel like I'm getting my moneys worth, definitely.

Zanacross September 23rd, 2009 11:43 AM

I would buy this game just for FireFight. $30 is so worth it.

Fenrir Reki September 23rd, 2009 7:18 PM

If your a halo fan you should get it but otherwise its not all that worth it other than having firefight and not having a matchmaking mode(im not a halo fan at all). But buying it for only $30 is a good deal, so you might want to consider buying it.

.Seth September 23rd, 2009 7:26 PM

ODST for $30 is a great deal.
Anyways, it is worth it. Halo may have been a letdown after the 2nd release, but it's still a fun game. It might not have been as good as the 1st one, but does it matter? Even if it's not up to par with other games, that does not make it a bad game. ODST is fun, especially Firefight.

Fenrir Reki September 23rd, 2009 7:52 PM

I have one question about ODST, after beating Kikowani Station you are supposed to be able to go to data hive, and the mission start area should appear on your map, but its not showing up for me and I cant find it. Do I have to collect more audio logs or listen to them because so far I only have 2 of them and I seem to be stuck not being able to find it anywhere (mainly because of locked gates)and its annoying me.

Klippy September 24th, 2009 8:03 AM

ODST for $30 sounds fair. Considering the two GTA expansions are going to be coming out as a disk for only $30-40 (I think), that would be a very fair deal.

I don't think I'll be getting ODST though. I just don't find the features good enough for a purchase. At least not now. Maybe when the price gets dropped (actual price), plus I've already got a wish list of games.

Samurai X September 24th, 2009 12:58 PM

For $30 it's fair for the average gamer and a steal for the people who haven't bought Halo 3 and just want the online multiplayer. So yes, it is worth it.

I'm also laughing at the person who said it's a let down because someone beat it quickly. Honestly if it's not an RPG and I don't want to complete a game 100% like all achievements or collectibles then I could pass it in less than 24 hours, any game any console.

TRIFORCE89 September 24th, 2009 3:08 PM

$30 is a great price. I'd pick it up for that right away. I'm in Canada and it costs $70! T___T;

I'd like to say that video game prices are expensive nowadays, but...it really isn't. Only the last generation saw prices come down. We're back to N64 (and probably earlier) prices now.

Luck September 24th, 2009 3:47 PM

It honestly depends on you. I have always like the Halo franchise for the fun multiplayer, despite the large amounts of 8 year old kids screaming into their microphones.
And I personally thought it was worth the $60, especially if you didn't get the DLC for Halo 3 before.
And for $30? I would suggest getting it, seeing as how I actually have the game and can tell you that I am enjoying it so far. But this is just the cries of a "fanboy," heed no serious attention to it.

Haza September 30th, 2009 1:05 AM

The slayer looks decent though. My input may mean nothing because have never really been into Halo but I want to buy it after seeing the gameplay.

Haza October 1st, 2009 12:03 AM

I watched some gamplay and it propted me to buy the game today so I did. i just have one question, do you have to have friends to play it or can you play slayer with randoms?

Avatar October 1st, 2009 8:09 AM

The only part of ODST that doesn't have matchmaking is Firefight (and the campaigns) but you can probably find people willing to play with you here or on Xbox.com's forum.
The multiplayer disc that ships with ODST is Halo 3 (without the campaign) along with every map released as DLC.

Raaji October 2nd, 2009 10:36 PM

Well, seeing as many of the users on this forum are Nintendo fans, you'll probably get mostly negative feedback, but I'd say it is entirely worth it, it's a steal at $30, and the game is very fun, especially campaign on legendary, which is a very fun challenge. I beat the game solo just barely, about 10 minutes ago, and I found it satisfying. All I have left to do is the FireFight achievements and certain campaign challenges as well. It is well worth your money for that price.

fire woven October 5th, 2009 4:26 PM

Well ODST is an amazing game if you have freinds to firefight with. The Halo 3 maps are pretty good too. I got it and I did beat it fast but the story was good and I liked it. Get the game it's not as bad as people say it it.

I agree with the vid. XD
I have ODST, the game is ok. I wish it was longer, I wish I hadn't payed $60 for it.... and I wish I had 2 more people to play the game with to get the last two Achievements I need. XD

I don't think it's worth $60 unless you don't have Halo 3. I wish they would have had an ODST game by itself for $30, and then the normal package for $60.

Greene1516 October 5th, 2009 5:15 PM

I love this game so much, and on top of the general awesomeness of it, games are so much cheaper here than in the US.

Haza October 5th, 2009 9:43 PM

Yes, my brother says it shouldnt be full priced because it is such a short campaign but its worth every penny for someone like me who never owned Halo 3. Im happy with my purchase. The firefight is so much fun too.
