Not sure anyone needs this info, but the woman in Blackthorn who tells you how much EV your front Pokemon has accumulated says different things when your Pokemon has 506+ EV.

Link to blog here.

While it's a small addition, if the woman says 「けっこう~」, you've already gotten 508 EV, where you can stop EV training.

I dont realy need help... just its just a question out of curiosity.

I was looking though my pokemons symetry and i saw this golden leaf thingee with some japanese writing by it! Could someone tell me what this means? or why its there? is it bad?

zirico January 13th, 2010 9:29 AM

Its just the golden leaf, its a new feature. Go to serebii to find out more about it ;)

kohei January 13th, 2010 10:47 AM

Golden/Shiny Leaf.
Collect 5 on 1 Pokemon, talk to Hibiki/Kotone, and receive a Golden/Shiny Crown!

Unlocking your first Crown will give your one star on your Trainer Card.

After defeating Falkner, the first gym leader, you get a call from Prof. Elm. He talks to you about the egg and he wants you to hold onto it so it can hatch. From there you'll go to the PokéMart and pick up the egg. After, a lady in a Kimono dress will come to you, speak to you about the egg and Prof. Elm. She will later on leave heading South. From here you either have the option of going to Route 36 and picking up HM06 Rock Smash or you can go strait to Route 32 heading towards Union Cave which you should be allowed to enter through now.

The version exclusives of HeartGold and SoulSilver will be found here on Serebii's webiste. Hope this helps. =]

Two Pokémon that it does not list are Latias and Latios which are also version exclusives after you gain access to the Wi-Fi event for the Enigma Crystal. Latios will be found in HeartGold, while Latias will be found in SoulSilver.

If I wanted to evolve a magneton, I would have to trade him over to d/p/pt and have them level him on mt coronet. But would it only be possible after beating elite four and obtaining national dex, or before?

What is it and how do you set it up?

eメールせってい is eMail settings where you put in your email address and it will send you emails when a trade of yours has been completed on the GTS for example.

Yes it would work. You don't need to have the national dex to have pokemon not in the regional dex, their numbers just don't show up until you do get the national dex. So as soon as you are ready to trade (which can be done as soon as you have 2 pokemon) you can trade it over, evolve it and then send it back.

Is there anything HGSS to aid a Sableye in getting both Recover and Nasty Plot?

...Because it is only the male gender of a Pokémon to pass on the desired move(s) through breeding it isn't possible for Sableye to learn both Recover and Nasty Plot. For a substitute use, you can breed a female Sableye with a male Abra to learn Recover. Then, when you have gotten your hatched Sableye with Recover you may teach it Calm Mind in place of Nasty Plot.

Therefore, you get a boost in Special Attack like you would with Nasty Plot, but also you get a boost in Special Def. as well (The only fault is that the boost in Special Attack may not be as high as it would be with Nasty Plot) :\.

This same method applies in HG/SS as well as DPPt. The only new Egg Move given to Sableye through HG/SS and not included within DPPt is the move Feint.

I know I;v ehad these games since September, but I really need help. This whole time I've been EV training on my Japanese Platinum and transfering the Pokemon over to HG/SS. I've decided I want to EV train within the games, so what are the best places for getting EVs for each stat?

Here is a list of some simple locations that are great for EV training in HeartGold and SoulSilver. Until the game is released officially in the US and I play it through, perhaps I'll be able to list better locations for EV training in the specific areas needed; listed here is what I found while doing some research. For now, I hope this helps:

HP
Hoot-hoot (1pt)
Location: Basically everywhere, and quite common. A few areas, Route 1-6.

ATTACK
Bellsprout & Ekans (1pt)
Location: Route below Violet City

DEFENSE
Geodude, Onix, Rhyhorn (1pt)
Location: Rock Tunnel, Dark Cave, Union Cave

Metapod and Kakuna (2pts)
Location: Ilex Forest

SPECIAL ATTACK
Ghastly (1pt)
Location: Sprout Tower

SPECIAL DEFENSE
Tentacool (1pt)
Tentacruel (2pts)
Location: West of Cherrygrove City - Surf on water

SPEED
Magikarp (1pt)
Location: Fish in any body of water using the Old Rod

Panfisha January 21st, 2010 9:13 AM

Does anyone have a list of what pokemon are specific to what version?

Guy January 21st, 2010 10:55 AM

Panfisha, this should answer your question. =)

On wifi can I use Giratina Origin form when battling people with DPPt/HGSS?

Kendall January 23rd, 2010 10:46 AM

I was wondering, if you trade a pokemon from HGSS to DPPl that was caught in a apricorn ball, does it just show up as a normal pokeball? If you were to trade it back, would it change back to it's original apricorn ball?

BlackRay January 23rd, 2010 11:00 AM

It changes back, yes.

No, you cannot. The Grisesous [or however you spell it XD] automatically goes back to your pocket. :)

HM 01 - Cut - Ilex Forest. You get it for doing the Farfetch'd chase :D
HM 02 - Fly - Cianwood City. You get it from Chuck's wife after beating Chuck.
HM 03 - Surf - Ecruteak City. You get it for helping the Kimono Girl. c:
HM 04 - Strength - Route 42. Just talk to a Hiker.
HM 05 - Whirlpool - Team Rocket's Mahogany Town Hideout. You get it from Lance :]
HM 06 - Rock Smash - Route 36. Talk to another Hiker. XD
HM 07 - Waterfall - Ice Path. It's in one of the rooms.
HM 08 - Rock Climb - Professor Oak. You get it from him after you get all 16 badges :D

GlitchCity January 23rd, 2010 5:59 PM

just a question, for the pokedex is it "gotta see them all" like it was in DPPt, or did they change it back to actually catching them

Dragon88 January 27th, 2010 10:32 PM

By anychance can you trade eggs over from platinum to Heart Gold and Soul Silver, the reason why at the begining I want a Larvitar on my team.

Yeah, you can trade pokemobetween games as soon as you have the pokedex from the prof. ;) So pretty much right at the begining of the game you can trade between DPPt and HGSS which means you can have your Larvitar!

The exact same thing has happened to me and I'm stuck.
There is only three (I think) grunts in Goldenrod and inside the radio tower is still a policeman guarding the stairs.
Underground a man takes my photo in the grunt uniform but I get out of it again after the photo has been taken.
I have seven badges and done the mahogany town rocket part with Lance.
Help please! :)

Okay, it seems a couple of people are getting stuck at this part in the game through the Radio Tower. From what I've read, you seem to be stopped by the Team Rocket Grunt who is blocking the stairs. What you'll need to do it head to the Northern part of the Underground Path in Goldenrod. You should meet up with a Team Rocket Grunt who will give you a TR Uniform. From here, you head back to the Radio Tower and you'll be able to pass off as a Team Rocket recruit. =]

You should have no problem with this part of the game as long as you've obtained the first seven gym badges, completed the part with Lance, and possibly completed any minor subplots within the game.

BakingBluePotatoe January 29th, 2010 3:20 PM

Okay, so I'm gonna gop preorder HG and SS... now, I'd get 2 Pokewalkers, right?

Will I be able to use both pokewalkers with just one game?
