Touch Screen or Keypad
What do you prefer on a Mobile Phone? A new and innovative Touch Screen or a classic and more familiar Keypad? Both have features that the others can't have but it's taste that makes people choose one or the other.
|
It actually doesn't matter for me, I make the same amount of mistakes on both.
|
touchscreen probably. except the screens get dirty loads and scratched also

Touch screen, key pads ENRAGE ME!
|
I'll take an iPhone touchscreen any day because it is flawless, while others are meh :/
But when I get a phone I want one with just a keyboard. |
Definitely a touch screen.
Unless I didn't have a cover, in which case.. I'd stick with the keypad so I wouldn't hurt the screen. |
Depends on how big the touch pad.
|
I have a cell phone with a keyboard, and my mom has an iTouch with a touch screen. I like my cell phone better. Touch screens I find too sensitive, so I make way more mistakes.
|
Definitely a keypad. I loath Touchscreens aside from the DS. They just.... irritate me. My phone has a QWERTY keyboard, but I'd even go for a phone with a standard 123 keypad, over a touchscreen.
Hey, you should add a poll to this. |
I've never had the need for a cell phone. Having said that, I would prefer a keypad, because I don't like smudgy (I even hate it when people touch my monitor).
|
I would like a Keypad. They are cool.
|
touch screen is really cool, but if you want more presition I think that a keypad is the answer =P
|
I have no preference. As long as I can type something, that's all that counts.
|
Touchscreen most definitely. I have a phone with a qwerty keyboard, but I still find myself happier when I'm using my iPod's touchscreen.
|
I am already used to using touch screen, keypads seem so primitive..sorry any keypad enthusiasts.
|
Keypad, by far. The 5-wire resistive touchscreen is, at this moment, only capable of single-touch. This is kind of annoying when trying to type something fast, and some letters don't appear or both fingers press the screen at the same time and a letter in between the touch points is chosen. Capacitive touch screens are bothersome because you need your skin to touch the screen in order for it to work. Multitouch is great, but the touchscreen doesn't work at all if you have gloves on (which are kind of required for half the year where I live). Plus, screens scratch easily, with the notable exception of glass screens (such as on the iPhone or Cowon S9, even though the latter isn't a phone).
A keypad, for me, at least, provides me with better accuracy than a touchscreen. In addition, there aren't accidental taps on letters or anything. Plus, I really like tactile feedback when I press a button (read: not haptic feedback). |
I heavily prefer using the touch screen, especially when it comes with a nifty little stylus and/or a plastic cover to prevent scratches, dirt, and other objects from messing it up.
The only keyboard I can tolerate is the computer keyboards, because I don't have tiny fingers and I have fairly large fingers not suited for cell phone keyboards. |
Keypad. I have big fingers for touchscreens and I use the phone more for texting and gaming and a touchscreen is way too bothersome for gaming. Not to mention I only trust phones from SE and the only phones they have with touch are Aino(which is bloody ridiculous as its only the media center which utilizes touch) and the Xperia line and I'm not buying a WinMo phone.
|
To be honest I really don't mind, I don't use my phone often enough to care. lol
And really as long you can type that's what counts. :3 |
I find most touchscreens really really clumsy... except for the iPhone number pad and the NDS touch screen... and my tablet pc touchscreen...
but i'd have to say keypad because it's much much easier to control accuracy wise. |
I guess in both cases, it depends on your personal experiences with both keypads and touchscreens. If you've used a poor QWERTY keypad, such as the LG Webslider series, then you will have a worse opinion than if you've used a BlackBerry or something like the Nokia E/N Series. In the same regard, if you've used some of the jokeable early touchscreen phones, you should try glass-based, such as the iPod Touch.
It's really up to personal preference, though. If you do a lot of typing, then keypads are better, as you get better feedback and accuracy, although for navigation, I can understand using a touchscreen. I still vote Keypad, however. |
I don't really like touch screens on phones, (except the iPhone, I like that xD), so I prefer keyboards.
|
Hmm, well, I really don't care. I'm more used to the keyboard (A QWERTY one) because I can put text ithout looking, usually. But Touch Screen is interesting. :P
|
Well, I can use a keypad without error.
I don't have to look at the phone to text. All those days of texting in school and college and having the phone under the table! XD However, I have used a touch screen phone and they are a lot easier to use. Will most likely take a while to get fully use to but that is life. I am actually changing my contract today! Maybe get a touch screen :D |
It doesn't matter to me. I can type pretty well on a keypad. So I know I can type on a touchscreen since they are cooler.
