How to speak Pokémon

Ooh, interesting title, huh? Made you click the link? GOOD!

I believe there should be a way for Pokémon fans to speak to each other that no one else can understand, So I began creating a Pokémon language, that can be written, spoken, read, and heard.

Tell me whatcha think:
How to speak Pokémon

^_^ Cool, no?

ALSO:

When typing the word "Pokémon," ALWAYS capitalize the "P." It's not hard. So do it.

Also, by holding down "ALT" on your keyboard (PC users) and pressing 130 on the number pad (in that order, not all at once), you can generate the "é" Now you know how, so DO IT.

Thank you.

No offense, but...
this is too difficult.

The TAC "Speak Pokémon" page said
This is not a collection of phrases and what they mean. (I.e. - Pikaaachu? = How are you?) This is a GUIDE to a LANGUAGE complete with grammar rules, parts of speech, and a dictionary.
^_^

That's odd... It said the above was "too short" and advised me to "lengthen it to at least 25 characters"

Porygon November 13th, 2003 8:31 AM

Hmmm… If I could learn to speak Porygon…

I'd rule the world!!! All bow down to my might!!!!

Oh, wait, it hasn't happened yet.

Yet *evil laugh*

Uh–oh… I ate the yellow sugar again… *dies*

Iveechan November 13th, 2003 10:09 AM

Well... according to the anime, when Pikachu says "Pikapi" it means Satoshi/Ash. Someone said that "Pikachupi' is Kasumi/Misty, but I'm not sure if this is fact or fan made-up.

Mew would be an easy language to leard ;)

jynx November 13th, 2003 10:47 AM

Actually, I think that tone does effect the meaning as well.

Kairi November 13th, 2003 11:08 AM

Pikachu always says" Pipipi!" when looking for Togepi. Thought I'd add that.

Gengar003 November 13th, 2003 4:45 PM

@ Kairi: Thank you... I'll add "pipipi" as Togepi... Althought Pokémon can't really name other species too well. Lucky Togepi. ^_^

@ Iveechan: Hm... Possibly... But that is probably just Pikachu. To refer to thier trainer, a Pokémon would say

"Pi-ka-chu-chu" or
"Por-ya-gon-gon" etc.
(O-T-H-H) with no markings

@ Porygon: Okay.... ^_^;;

@ All: Okay, it would seem that there are a *few* words that are used consistently on the show.

My basis for the statement that it's made up is that:
In the episode where the Pokémon are alone, with no trainers to "translate" what they say, there are subtitles. Words and sounds don't match. "There" will be one thing, and then something else later.

It, theoretically, *could* be a complex conjugation system... But I doubt it.

Maybe it's true that there isn't any particular way to speak Pokémon language.

And he has a brain of an Alakazam!

Hey, does anyone know how much IQ does a Jynx has?

Porygon November 17th, 2003 11:56 AM

Probably about the same as the average person.

…or maybe a bit higher, because the average person that I've been seeing offline has the equivelant of about half a Slowpoke.

Too Complicated, I don't Compute :(

jynx November 22nd, 2003 11:02 AM

GENGAR!!
I've found a mistake!
Not ALL Pokemon talks in the same pattern!
Example: "Yes"
Pikachu---OTH, OT
Jynx---TH,TH
Haunter----OT, OTH
Mr. Mime----OT,OT
Vulpix----O~~~~~~

Hmm... Well, I don't quite get what you're saying... but a Jynx, when being spoken by humans, would be divided O-T-H; Jy - Na - xa. Which are al sounds that a Jynx can concieveably make.

Haunter: Hau na ta (not ter; he doesn't say that, as I'm sure you noticed)

Mr. Mime: Mr.-Mi-me

Vulpix: They can say their name, right? Vu-la-pix

Or did I miss the idea you were trying to point out? ^_^;;

All right, I'll explain.
Refurring that you use O for the 1st syllable, T for the 2nd, and H for the 3, that the Pokemon speaks.
I have found out that in Japanese version, the following Pokemon says the word "YES" (they nod their heads) like this:
Pikachu---OTH, OT
Jynx---TH,TH
Haunter----OT, OTH
Mr. Mime----OT,OT
Vulpix----O~~~~~~
Therefore, not all Pokemon behaves he same pattern.

Gengar003 November 23rd, 2003 2:24 PM

Well, the only way I can account for that is to
a.) Quote the page on my website:
Quote:

you will not be able to understand them by "learning" TAC Pokémon Basic.
and to b.) point out regional discrepancies among real-life places and apply them to Pokémon; Some people say "y'all", some "you all", and some "Yous guys", etc. Thus, some Pokémon can say "yes" in different ways.

True, what Pokémon say AREn't random, at least it appears that way. Do they REPEAT the EXACT same phrases for "yes" time after time?

And, if this wasn't made clear before:

TAC POKéMON BASIC IS NOT BASED ON THE TV SHOW AND WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO UNDESTAND THOSE POKéMON EXCEPT IN BIZARRE FREAK ACCIDENTS OF NATURE.
