Like Giradialkia said, WHERE IS EVERYBODY?
Why doesn't anyone post?

Anyway, I might try the Rocket Sprite later, if I have time.

trebornosliw March 10th, 2010 2:20 PM

Awesome, that'd be great.
Anyway, I'm back! I'll get back to work on this project as soon as I'm done unpacking and have slept for about a year.

Everything's coming along great. I've got several more scripts to complete and then I'll be done with Beta 1. There's one minor complication, but I should be able to clear it up without too much trouble. Thanks for the welcome! It's good to be back.

trebornosliw March 18th, 2010 5:43 AM

Beta 1 is finished! It's currently going through primary beta testing, after which there's secondary testing and the release. I've got some great events going, I'll tell you how the testing goes!

KaiVii March 21st, 2010 9:14 AM

*so excited for Beta!* I'm going to be lost to the world while i play thou!

mervyn797 March 22nd, 2010 9:43 AM

tell me, have u posted the beta version? i dont really remember seeing that alpha link over there in the first post. LoL

trebornosliw March 22nd, 2010 8:11 PM

Haven't posted beta yet, but there's an alpha download in post 1, I believe. Alpha 1 saves will be fully compatible with Beta 1, so there's no real drawback to beating the alpha if you haven't already.
The beta should be posted soon. I'm just waiting for word from my testers.

trebornosliw April 10th, 2010 6:54 AM

And now, the long-awaited moment. Beta 1 is ready for release! There are one or two bugs still (check the "known bugs" list in Post 1), but overall it's come out beautifully.
Let me know what you all think! Download is in the first post.

KaiVii April 10th, 2010 5:55 PM

yay!!! I wish i could get on my laptop and try it out now but alas i must wait

Neon Hydra April 10th, 2010 6:05 PM

I like how it has a new begining plot and it is very original. keep up the good work i will definetlly try this.

trebornosliw April 10th, 2010 8:09 PM

Thanks! I'm trying to make HT very plot-oriented.

Blackberry April 12th, 2010 5:05 PM

No offense, but I think you should go and read some Mapping tutorials. :3

Otherwise, The hack looks amazing. :)

trebornosliw April 12th, 2010 6:18 PM

Lol, if I took offense at every criticism I received of this hack, I'd be sobbing under my bed right now.
Thanks for the critique.
Btw, I forgot to mention that the Beta ends after Arbor Woods and/or the second Underground Tunnel. If you proceed through the warps, you'll wind up back on routes from the original game. I'm currently looking into inserting some new tiles (made by the ever-amazing Giradialkia), and once they're online I'll post an update with those areas blocked off. Until then, just don't go there.

Shubalabab April 24th, 2010 1:30 AM

i kind like it,its so good

trebornosliw May 19th, 2010 5:52 AM

Well, I just did the forum rounds, checking on some of my favorite hacks, and am terrified by the fact that almost all of them are now closed threads.
I just want to assure any trigger-happy mods out there that this hack is still alive! Currently working on some scripts for the next city while Giradialkia inserts some tiles. I may post another chapter of the story soon, if anyone cares.

lizardman974 May 19th, 2010 7:55 AM

How do you get to Arbor Woods? I battled Bruno like I'm guessing you're supposed to (even though it's obvious you can't ever win at that part of the game), I beat Shade, and I don't see any other paths to take anywhere! Can somebody help?

trebornosliw May 19th, 2010 8:44 AM

After you beat Bruno, he leaves the tunnel, so that passage is no longer blocked. Just head on through and you can access the next route. Arbor woods isn't for a while after that though.

lizardman974 May 19th, 2010 8:50 AM

Thanks! By the way, why is there a single starter pokemon on some routes? One has Cyndaquil, one has Chikorita, and I found one with Bulbasaur on Bruno's Island!

trebornosliw May 19th, 2010 9:08 AM

Well, that's just the way I had it set up. I'd be making a route, and suddenly go "hey, I think I'll drop a starter here," and there you go.
By the way, your sig is scaring the crud out of me.

lizardman974 May 19th, 2010 9:14 AM

You mean the sign part? If you go to the website on the bottom of the sign, you can make your own sign that tells people their info. It's actually pretty funny.

Edit: Why are all the emblem people so strong? I mean, first there was Bruno with a level 90 Machamp, but then Agatha has a level 91 Umbreon! Are we supposed to fight her?

trebornosliw May 19th, 2010 12:56 PM

No, Agatha gives you the emblem for catching that Scyther, it's not necessary to battle her. I just did that because I'm not a very nice person.
Most of the Emblem holders won't battle you, they'll just give you a task to complete, while the Elite will battle you, but aren't necessary.

lizardman974 May 20th, 2010 10:18 AM

Oh. Also, does Glaceo (or whatever his name is) give you an emblem that lets you use Cut? Because I looked everywhere in Arbor Woods and can't find the Old Amber, but there's one area that's blocked off by a tree that's cuttable.

trebornosliw May 20th, 2010 11:49 AM

You can get to the Old Amber without Cut, it's just hard to find the right path.
After you find the Amber, that's the end of the beta. I'm letting you know because I forgot to put up a barrier, so you can technically keep going, but you'll be back on a generic FR route. So, the only thing left for you to do in this release is beat the trainers in Theophilus Gardens if you haven't already.

kevcrash May 29th, 2010 11:53 AM

This hack looks very good, keep it up! I especially like the Gardevoir part, it's kinda like he/she's a guru :P
And the screenshots are verry nice!

strawn June 5th, 2010 8:07 PM

So I've taken a look at the fanfic thread and it looks really interesting, and definitely something that would catch my attention...downloading the beta now. Here's hoping the beta's just as good!

trebornosliw June 6th, 2010 2:56 PM

Awesome, thanks. I only wish I could fit everything from the fanfic in here, but alas, scripting will only get me so far, and gives me no Sneasel-kicking mechanism. Hope you enjoy the hack thus far!
The next beta will feature a new tileset by Giradialkia, a new fakemon by Pokeyomom, a major split-in-the-road decision that has been described as basically turning the hack into two different games, and various other products of too much time and not enough of a life on my part.
It should be noted that since there well be new outdoor tiles in the next release, you should save your game in Beta 1 inside a building, otherwise it will glitch up when you load your save.

trebornosliw June 22nd, 2010 8:22 PM

Update time! Erm, turns out it won't glitch after all, so don't worry about saving outside. If you're saved outdoors, the tiles will look as they used to until you go indoors then come back out, then they'll be displayed in all of their glory. Giradialkia's outdone himself, the tiles look great, IMHO. He even managed to fix the glitch in the starting map where the borders went all multicolored, so that's out of the way.
With those inserted, it's back to work. I'm currently inserting some very special scripts; it'll be fun to see how they turn out, and what you all think of them when they're done.

r0bert July 5th, 2010 10:10 AM

Thebornosliw this hack is great,
the storyline awesome: You creeped me out with that journal>.>
But i found a minor bug;on brunos island after the first task
when you go back in the cave, you cant go back

EDIT:You can get out ; but you have to die

Weird, which cave is this? The training ground?
And sorry, the Fakemon are set. Plus, I really detest the idea of inserting 5gen Pokemon when I have no clue what they can do. Appreciate the advice though.
And I'll upload to Megaupload tomorrow as well, so you can download from that mirror.

first; yes the cave before training ground
second; your game so do what you want
third;well see them as yin yang, good evil they have speedboost as ability

and you should make the beta a tad more difficult reason; i ended up with lv30 weavile lv 28 lucario and a lvl 32 nidoking

trebornosliw July 6th, 2010 7:17 AM

Thanks for the bug report, the cave is now fixed (it was a tile error).
I'm still going to leave 5gen be for now, but I really do appreciate the advice. Those two wouldn't really fit into the plotline at present.
Lol, and I've never heard someone say it actually needs to be harder, wow. I think what I'll do is slow down Sneasel and Riolu's leveling rate somewhat, and raise the level at which they evolve. Lucario and Weavile are two of the strongest Pokemon in the game, so I should probably make it a little more tricky to raise them.
qaz, here's your megaupload link. I'm not a member, so this will last only as long as people keep downloading it: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CPT6G0FA

r0bert July 6th, 2010 10:50 AM

ok

Okay as i said before your game
But if you want to use the sprites for anything else, use them

chrunch July 6th, 2010 5:31 PM

For some reason I'm still against new tiles. D:
I'm sure they look great but FR tiles are fine in my opinion,
and I like most hacks that use them. :D

But, it's your hack.

trebornosliw July 6th, 2010 7:12 PM

Yeah, I know what you mean, but I do like what Giradialkia's done, his tiles are really nice. I'll post pics with Beta 2 for your comments.
My favorite part is that he's made vine and climbing wall tiles, so instead of that crude rope and the glitched-looking rock faces that I used for Hidden Grove and Bruno's training ground, respectively, I've now got some really nice custom tiles. Also, there are two areas in the game that will need custom tiles, so to that end at least some insertion is necessary.
Anyway, normally I'm good with Firered, but it's nice to have a change, I think, and the color tones in Giradialkia's tiles fit the Hidden Ties mood a lot better, IMHO.

r0bert July 7th, 2010 6:34 AM

bug

thebornosliw i've noticed another slight bug
riolus backsprite has a white spot in the neck

trebornosliw July 7th, 2010 2:08 PM

Mkay, I'll list that under Bugs, then, though it's kind of minor, so it might not get fixed for awhile.
Thanks for letting me know!

NiKaNoRoU July 8th, 2010 5:49 AM

About updates:

Still, I'm so happy that you're still working on that. Did you finally get a proper Hero sprite sheet? I'd be up for it if you want, after my vacation (August). Oh well.

trebornosliw July 8th, 2010 8:34 AM

If you could knock out the hero sprites, that'd be great, do you still have the appearance request I sent you?
...
Someone needs to explain to me what that cat picture means, lol.

Shiny Quagsire July 8th, 2010 9:45 AM

Ugh, this looks to n00bish. :(
You need to improve on some of your scripting, because I can't see any scripts in there. :(

Hm, and may I ask exactly how far into the game you played?
...
That really makes no sense, because if you didn't see any scripts at all, you managed to somehow wipe out every event from Hallowed Grove on... Or perhaps this is a theatrical exaggeration...?
Btw, I owe Giradialkia a thank-you for telling me what that cat picture meant. I was going a little paranoid for a while there.

trebornosliw July 16th, 2010 4:57 AM

Mkay, so I've removed the maps section of the intro post completely, since all of the maps are now outdated and I don't feel like uploading them. I am, however, going to give you all a look at Hallowed Grove so you can see what Giradialkia's new tileset looks like. Feedback is, as always, appreciated (it should be noted that this tileset may not last long, Giradialkia is going to make some edits to the trees and a few other tiles).

trebornosliw July 21st, 2010 2:36 PM

@r0bert: Good point, I'll fix that.

@ares10: The same as...? But no, not if you're talking about the official games. You can play through the beta and find out for yourself.

And aren't those dark spots for berry's???

trebornosliw July 21st, 2010 5:23 PM

Or eye candy. I occasionally throw them in for scenery, just to annoy people. I've got two new grass tiles from Erika's gym now, thanks to Giradialkia's palette editing when he inserted those tiles, so I'll try those out.

KaiVii July 28th, 2010 6:52 PM

I'm excited! This is looking better and better

trebornosliw August 13th, 2010 7:34 PM

Okay, been getting lots of work done. I'm currently chipping away at an extremely script-intensive segment, so be patient. Trust me, it'll be worth it.
In the meantime, I've cleared up a few anomalies with the help of Advance Text, awesome tool. For instance, no more Mom script:

More to come.

Lol, I'm referring back to my post in DarkViolet's thread, which was also directed at you.
The Anime and games are not canon, either, therefore mentioning Team Rocket's Meowth is rather pointless.
Playing the beta, or even just reading the first post, would help with this- the Player was brought up by Pokemon in a place called Hallowed Grove. Therefore, the Player can understand what Pokemon say. The story is actually really good, along with the scripting. I recommend playing the beta, I enjoyed it :P

mervyn797 August 21st, 2010 2:18 AM

ahh!
I'm really happy the hack's still going on, unlike me. xD I can definitely say that you have improved a lot. The scripts look quite nice. I'm sure you'll complete this one and it will be a great and enjoyable hack.

trebornosliw August 21st, 2010 12:46 PM

@Sarcastic... well, Giradialkia really said it all, so I guess I'll just leave it at that. Thanks!

And thanks Mervyn, I'm giving it my best.
Just a note for everyone. Progress is going to be slow for awhile since I just started college. Once I get a routine established, it'll pick up again (that is, if you could ever say it was really "picked up").

trebornosliw September 16th, 2010 6:28 PM

The routine has been established, and progress is... progressing. I've learned how to successfully insert cries, so that's proceeding, and in between cry insertions I've been doing a lot of scripting and mapping. It's taking a freakishly long time though, simply because there is a freakishly large amount of scripting to be done for this next area. Trust me, you'll like it.
I will be introducing a major new character next Beta, as well as one or two minor Fakemon (thanks to n0rul3s for the character sprite and some Fakemon, they're nicely done). Beta 2 will also mark the beginning of a major plot kick-off; things will start happening very fast.
Anyway, this was largely just a reassurance to you all that this project is far from dead. I'll be posting new screenies as they become available.

nasonex September 16th, 2010 6:35 PM

Wow.. I'd like to see that scripts! It's
nice to know you've been progressing well.

Can't wait for the awesome screenies! :D

drew6464 September 16th, 2010 6:43 PM

Not as good as others, but I know how stressful it is to even get a game and a team running. I say keep it up, and keep adding custom screens, like new trainers, new backgrounds, new intro, new bag, etc.

KaiVii September 17th, 2010 6:48 PM

I'm still so excited about this, you have no idea. I cant wait for the next beta

trebornosliw September 18th, 2010 7:41 PM

Thanks for the comments guys, feedback like that really inspires me to keep pushing forward on this.
Screenies to come as soon as I'm done scripting Seoul City.

trebornosliw October 2nd, 2010 12:26 PM

Here they are, only three now, but they should give you some idea of what's coming. Most of the new scripts are working great, but I've run into several bugs as well, so it's been give and take.
Anyway, the hopefully much-anticipated screenies. Be warned, as they do contain major spoilers:

So, I'll wait awhile to see your comments, then post a brief explanation.

chrunch October 2nd, 2010 12:52 PM

I'm guessing from those screens, that you're given a choice - to join team legend (the "good" team), or team rocket, the bad team.

trebornosliw October 2nd, 2010 1:46 PM

Of course, no choice at all is still a choice...
But anyway, whatever choice you make will obviously shift the storyline in one direction or the other. It'll impact what Pokemon you can obtain, how you can obtain them, possibly even which HMs you get to use.

KaiVii October 8th, 2010 3:40 PM

I'm gonna have to play it twice xD

trebornosliw October 10th, 2010 5:23 PM

Let me clarify that there are more than two choices. Again, no choice is, in fact, a choice, so all three of those pictures represent a different decision.

that looks interesting, I might go for no choice, but then again, team rocket is always fun. :3

trebornosliw October 27th, 2010 1:54 PM

Oh, you have no idea, my friend >:D

I redid the rock climbing script from the Alpha (the one I used for Bruno's training ground was awful). It works great, and it could be handy for other people as well, so I'm going to go ahead and post it. Use it if you want. Basically, if you're facing up, it has you do a slow step and a jump upwards. If you're facing down, vice versa. Oh, and it should be obvious, but this script should be used as a signpost.

Elyse:
Spoiler:

The only daughter of affluent researcher Professor Russell (her mother died in childbirth), Elyse has long assisted her father with field work, but prefers the thrill of chasing, battling, and capturing wild Pokemon to the methodical drudgery of studying them. Her highest ambition is to one day be ranked among the Yaesu Elite, and now, at age 15, she is pushing towards that goal with a passion. She is unfailingly cheerful, but deadly serious on matters important to her.
Until age 14, Professor Russell forbade Elyse from training Pokemon competitively, fearful that she might be somehow hurt in the rough, adventurous life of the Trainer. Finally, however, he was unable to deny his daughter's innate skill for strategy and her abiding love for testing herself and the Pokemon she befriended. He subsequently allowed her to begin training, and she has since gained some level of renown as a rising star; however, she missed home more than she expected, and so she frequently returns to assist her father awhile with his research.

for the sprite floating in the trees, look on the maps connected to the city with the floating sprite and see if you can find an extra person event that shouldnt be there

Thanks, I'll give that a look. I hadn't thought of checking the connections.

Jayster23 December 20th, 2010 6:19 PM

I like the storyline. Pretty Creative :)

The maps are a bit plain though... :/

Anyway i'm going to give the beta a try and tell you what i think.

trebornosliw December 23rd, 2010 10:16 AM

Well, that's all I can ask.
Several people have said they don't really like the maps, but I haven't received many suggestions on how to improve them. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
This project is still going, btw, just slowly, in conjunction with a college workload. Also, I completely underestimated the amount of work I threw on my shoulders by giving a team choice option. But just to reassure you all, I'm still chugging along here...

If you need any help on tile inserting and mapping,I'd gladly be of assistance.

It may be extra work, but that means the game will be that much better and we will be that much more willing to wait for it to be perfect. I watch a person on DA who does amazing maps. If you want I can send you a link to look at their style?

mkc90 December 31st, 2010 1:42 AM

This looks amazing wish you the best

Please dnt add fake pokemons .
and the pokemons in the screenshots i hope you use that generation. Because idk the rest lol i just know the pokemons from fire red, silver, crystal , emerald i think those pokemons are the best.

Kanto-Johto are my personal favorites, plus Weavile. And my apologies, but I've already locked myself in to at least one Fakemon just so that the plot makes sense.
@KaiVii, Sure, why not? I'm always open to learning from someone else, maybe it'll help. Thanks!
@r0bert, I'm good on tiles for the moment, though I may be able to find some maps for you to do, if you really want to help. At this moment, I most need a spriter (trainer sprites) and, though it pains me to admit it, maybe another scripter. I'm working several in-depth scripts atm, and it'd go much faster if I had help in that arena.

r0bert January 2nd, 2011 10:00 AM

okay,I'd gladly help on my favorite hack!
What kind of maps do you need?

trebornosliw January 2nd, 2011 10:45 AM

Let me double-check, and I'll PM you. Thanks!

I think he does some of his own sprites but he's the only Maps I've Faved

That. Is. Awesome. Though all of his tiles are custom. Still, I may see a few techniques I can mimic. Thanks!
Just for one more clarification, which maps in HT are my worst? I want to see if I can identify my specific problem.

r0bert January 2nd, 2011 6:13 PM

well,IMAO the treehouse at the beginning of the game.
maybe you should use R/S/E tree secret base tiles.those could also be usefull for the entrance.

treelove2 January 16th, 2011 8:03 AM

I found a bug. After I was defeated by my rival and sent home, I saved and turned off. Now I am controlling the boy instesd of the girl and am stuck. HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!

trebornosliw January 25th, 2011 6:48 PM

I've been catching up on homework over the last few days, and didn't check in until now. So treelove, I'm assuming this is the rival you battle in the forest? Were you still a girl before you saved? I'll be honest, this one is probably beyond me...
And r0bert, is that the inside, the outside, or both? The entrance has been updated for next version with a really cool vine tile from Giradialkia, so the entrance should look a lot better next release.
Newswise, I just finished a huge script... and found a flaw in another one. My main difficulty at this point is that I'm essentially embedding three different storylines into each major event script, so they take about three times as long to finish. Still rolling along.

mkc90 January 25th, 2011 9:04 PM

Idk if this would go with the story line but u should add mew n mewtwo fighting against each other...
lol idk why butit would be kool lile from the first movie they made or idk what movie was it...But its up to you:)

KaiVii January 26th, 2011 10:35 AM

Its been a while since I played the demo but I can play it again and try and pinpoint some maps for you?

trebornosliw January 26th, 2011 2:27 PM

mkc90
...
Yeah, that wouldn't really fit the storyline, especially since I already have roles for Mew and Mewtwo, I think. Thanks though.
KaiVii, I'd appreciate it if you would, though it may be more convenient to just do that next beta, when you'll at least have something new to look forward to. Thanks!

chrunch January 26th, 2011 2:39 PM

If you want, I can remap Battler's Route for you that I did for you (My mapping is much better now, and battler's route was pretty bad :3).

Anyways, the main problem I see with your mapping is that it's too messy. Another example is Aegis City, I can hardly tell the difference between it and Pewter City, except at the bottom. good luck, though!

KaiVii January 26th, 2011 5:07 PM

I can wait if its not too far off. It would be more accurate that way too

trebornosliw January 29th, 2011 10:36 AM

Hey all.
The bad news is that my computer just had a multilayered blue screen crash. Several times. The good news is that I have all of the game files backed up on a thumb drive, so production will proceed as planned. Thanks for the advice and critique!

n0rul3s February 16th, 2011 12:12 PM

Hey!
How`s the hack going?
Got my NPC script ready?
I want to see my script faster xD!
Anyway,i want to know the % of the game so far.

tsukuyomi13 February 16th, 2011 2:14 PM

I found a bug, in the alpha if you heal at Chansey and look at you trainer card. i was the girl) you take control of chansey and she turns into the male sprite and you can't go anywhere.

trebornosliw February 18th, 2011 5:25 AM

I'll take a look at that. Thanks. There are one or two bugs like that; I'm not sure what causes them...
