PokeSav type thing for 3rd gen hacks?

So i'm looking to edit my individual party/pc pokemon but I can't seem to find the right tool. Ciro's pokemon Maker has worked well enough for me, but it doesn't have any info for 4th gen+ and alot of hacks include things from them.

Christos October 14th, 2014 12:27 AM

I don't think there are any, most hacks either replace some existing Pokémon or add more in a random order, so a tool like that wouldn't really work properly unless it was made for a specific hack.

NutUp October 14th, 2014 1:22 AM

If it just did it by pokemon name and not order it would be fine, think Gen III Hacking Suite (i believe that's how it does it).

Is there a not too difficult way to accomplish this otherwise? Hex editing? Zero knowledge about this stuff I just realllyy like statistically perfect pokemon.

Save editor tools will never be able to comply with hacks with changed Pokemon, especially those with an expanded Pokedex. They're made for the main vanilla game and only for that game, and since hacking isn't always a definite process one will never be able to make one tool for all even if it has INIs to edit. On that note, you should also always be extremely careful with gameshark codes that alter Pokemon because one or two hackers will even alter the cheat codes to prevent cheating.

The surefire way to edit/cheat if you REALLY need to do so would be to edit the Pokemon/NPCs or hack in person events to give you things. Something which I would strongly advise against unless it's unjustly hard or for Nuzlockes with certain Pokemon only (and even then the header can be edited to prevent that from occurring).

Been playing Ash Gray on the MyBoy emulator. Been playing a version that I got off CoolRoms. Got to the point where the game freezes on Tangelo Islands. I heard its a glitch so I downloaded the latest version. Is there a way to transfer my save that ive been playing into the new version? Ive seen people say patch the game on internet searches ive done, but Im not sure how to do that or what it means. Someone please help. Thanks

Lucky for you, there's a nice tutorial all about it. Read this thread.

As for saves, they're always separate files from the rom. Just name your new version the exact same name as your current one when you replace it, and it'll still be there.

Going to the tutorial/tools section would be a start. Normally to edit those you need XSE, AdvanceMap, and Gen III Hacking Suite.

And the XSE tutorial.

Simply put, there is none because DS Mapping is near impossible.

Thats not true since we have SDSMe and there are a lot of tutorials out there

looneyman1 October 23rd, 2014 11:38 PM

you're more likely to find such a game on the pokemon essentials engine rather than a rom hack.

Nakasu October 25th, 2014 8:56 AM

Are you trying to find a R/S/E hack for the DS? If so you could try out Hoenn Black and White hacks. Which are basically sequels to the Hoenn games. If you are looking for a direct remake you will have better luck finding it on Poke-Mega. Most remakes are usually handled on Essentials, since hacking the DS is insanely challenging.

I need help....... I am playing dark rising 2, can't figure out how to use my previous ssave data from beta 1 on the complete version. 31 hours. Helpppppp

SerusByrne November 11th, 2014 9:51 AM

When I load up a rom, it keeps on the black screen, so it looks like I had never opened a rom file.

Christos November 11th, 2014 4:16 PM

Please use this thread for any questions you might have regarding emulating ROMs.

Also, please don't post in threads that are over a month old, this thread has been dead for over 7 years.

I am looking for a gba emulator on kindle fire that runs pokemon ultra violat.

I have tried to use my boy, visual boy, and gameboied.

enny suggestions.

Gamer2020 November 14th, 2014 6:21 PM

I found a sav editor for the gba games a while back. This post just reminded me of it.

It can be found here: http://projectpokemon.org/forums/showthread.php?1250-Pokebox-GBA-version-6-4

I've actually had this problem for a while, too, and Ciro's is the only one that works. Metropolis and Enyclopedia pokemon don't save pokemon if there are errors so you can't use them on hacks.

(The hack save file doesn't work directly, but many hack creators keep the trading in, so you can trade from a vanilla game. But then you won't get any new moves or w/e.)

I've downloaded this before but I just can't make head or tail of it. If you could how to use, it'd be great. :D
edit: I think i've figured out how to use it, I didn't know right click brought up a pokemon's stats, but it still doesn't work with hacks that have new Pokemon inserted. I tried to use it for Emerald Omega but it crashed.

Deokishisu November 19th, 2014 3:58 PM

If the hack doesn't disallow trading, the best way to do this is to grab a clean ROM, create your perfect Pokemon there, and then trade it into the hack. This wouldn't allow you to do anything with an expanded Pokedex (past Deoxys, anyway) but if it's a hack that replaces Pokemon, you'd just have to know the index number of what they replaced.

You wouldn't have to even trade, really, if you create the perfect Pokemon on the clean ROM, use the memory viewer in VBA to head to that party slot's memory address, copy the bytes, and then paste it in the hack's party slot.

Sorry for not making my own thread, I am not allowed to, until I do 15 posts, which could end in spam.

So, my problem sounds easy and simple: I cant save ingame at the game 'Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team (EU)'. I am using the OpenEmu for Mac and I could save with the emulator itself, but therefore I can't use wondermails, which is a essential part of the game.

I searched the last two days on the internet and found several points:
1. With the VirtualBoyAdvance (VBA), just set the settings to flash 128k and it should work (I will come back to that, if nothing will work).
2. They wrote in a thread (can't post a link, because of the 15 posts rule, sorry), about something to change an entry at the core itself. OpenEmu uses the VBA-core. I googled the CRC number of PMD red rescue team (EU), which is c1d18fe4.
3. I tried also the US-version of the game and it worked quiet well. I can save ingame, which is pretty nice but there is also a big problem: I am not familiar with the english names of the pokémon, items, attacks, etc, because my native language is german. Is it anyhow possible to 'transfer' the language of the EU version to the US version?

If you could help me, that would be really nice.

I was trying to see the pokedex in my rom (based on pokemon fire red, i'm using VBA), obviously without redoing all the game, so i looked for a gameshark snapshot (a save after the league) , but when i try to import the snapshot it keeps saying "save data has been deleted" and everything starts over again, on the net people get the corrupted file and then works.....yes i save in 128k, gba, the save are .sa1 and i have real time clock. What am i supposed to do to fix this?

Jim Boob December 29th, 2014 5:00 AM

Hey I am using vgba for android and i want to move fire red & emerald saves to my pc so i can run them on vba link however I cant get the save files to open. vgba gives me a .sav, .sta and a .gba the .gba opens the rom fine but the other two extensions are not recognized.

any help?

Trading between original version and Hack

Hi there,

I want to get my girlfriend hooked with Pokémon games and I think Fire Red and Leaf Green would be perfect for that because it's a remake of the first generation and the graphics of generation three are the best in my eyes.

I am giving her Fire Red and I am starting with Leaf Green so we can battle and trade. If she wants to complete her Pokedex I am thinking of playing a hack on my EZ Flash IV, where I can give her some missing Pokémon like the other starters and Mew.

Therefore I wanted to know if it is possible to trade between hacks (when using the EZ Flash IV) and original versions?
Is it dangerous for the safe file of the original version?
Does it work with every hack?

Bill Cipher December 31st, 2014 1:48 PM

If the game can support trading, then it should be safe.

But, if a game uses fakemon, the unedited version will come up with the original un-editied Pokémon.

If that makes sense.

This video shows a trade between ShinyGold and (what I think is) FireRed/LeafGreen:
