"What right does one man hold to define morality and justice? One hundred men? One million?
No right. Only the highest beings, the true ones, wield rule upon this land forged of their own labors. Join us; to join them."
<Approved by Horizon>
Closed Temporarily for Restructuring.
Executive Tournament for President Spot!
Battle each of your fellow Executives once.
Free teams, 6 vs 6, standard clauses.
Report results to Scientist Davis.

The changes to Team Destiny are all but complete.
Now, we are merely waiting on the Executives.
CrimsonStorm must finish his battles against Mukkamoto for the higher position.
Following that, the Executive Tournament will decide our President.

What is Team Destiny?
Spoiler:

For many years, Destiny Incorporated was considered to be a beautiful testament of progress in our time. No one could have known what went on behind closed doors. The very same scientists which brought about such widely used commodities as the Luxury Ball, Experience Share, and even Repel worked tirelessly toward a horrid and villainous goal. At long last, they had succeeded. The fusion of a human and pokemon subject. Their first monstrosities were mindless beasts, grotesque and out of control. As the experiments continued, the creations came to retain sentient thought. The time had come. Team Destiny was formed of the most diabolical pokemon trainers in the world to collect legendary pokemon on a global scale... To become one with them.
Will you stop them,
or join them?

Joining Team Destiny:
Spoiler:

Team Destiny is composed of up to 17 Commanders, each one named after a tarot card and based upon a single type of pokemon. Each Commander may only use non-uber pokemon in his or her team of his or her chosen type, no exceptions. No two Commanders may choose the same type or the same tarot card. The five Commanders who have proven most skilled or influential will earn the rank of Executive. An Executive is allowed only one uber and if he or she chooses to use one, it may only switch in once the other five pokemon in that Executive's party have fainted- or four in a double battle. Those who do not make it into the Commander or Executive rank may serve as Grunts. Grunts also receive a title. Grunts are not expected to use only one type in their team. However, a Grunt may only carry one OU pokemon in receiving a challenge. This OU pokemon may switch in at any time, as opposed to the uber provided to an Executive. In order to receive a Commander position, you may challenge an already positioned Commander to a rank battle. These shall consist of 6 vs 6, free teams, standard clauses. Commanders need not accept a rank challenge more than once a week.

The following executive and commander titles are available:

Only until you read it. Horizon also noted that it appeared, at first glance, to be a clan- but was not.

It is more similar to a "league" than anything else.

Painter October 18th, 2009 6:47 AM

that sounds right cuz there have been alot of new leagues lately and this looks unique ^^

Tori October 18th, 2009 7:42 AM

This does look pretty cool. I'd like to join but I can't fill out a form yet. I'm on my
phone. :P

Jukain-Arashi October 18th, 2009 7:53 AM

I'm just waiting to see what Greene's got to say about this.

But this is very unique, I might decide to do it.

Phoenix_Wright October 18th, 2009 8:03 AM

I'll join team destiny, but is there something I have to do specifically?

Go on up and read. There is an application involved and you will be expected to accept challenges on part of your evil organization.

Phoenix_Wright October 18th, 2009 8:10 AM

I choose the Justice Tarot card...thingy but I'm confused... I only choose 1 specific type of pokemon?

Please read carefully. Your team will consist of only one type, correct. You must select three titles and three types, however, as not everyone can receive their first choice. The application is laid out in full. I hope this helps.

Phoenix_Wright October 18th, 2009 8:21 AM

Ok, I think I get it. I have to choose 3 tarot cards and choose 3 types that go along with it correct?

You choose the three of each you would most prefer, in order of priority. You will get the highest priority type and title which we can give you.

Phoenix_Wright October 18th, 2009 8:53 AM

Does that mean I have to battle you again?

Not if you do not want to. I know you well enough to provide a rank.

Oh well ok then... thanks.

That was correct, thank you.
Yes. Please bring a team of your desired type. I will have a generic metagame team optimized for the purpose of testing your ability. I shall send you a private message when I am ready.

Anyone can be evil. Merely release the chains of morality which have bound you to society and embrace your darker desires at the cost of the world. A good laugh helps too.

We will indeed prepare openings for Grunts in time. Those will be based on the numbered Tarot cards (swords, cups, and so on).

Once you apply, you will face my Test Team, a group of pokemon taken from the recent competitive metagame. Even if you lose, you may get a good rank. It is only to evaluate your ability.

LilacLust October 18th, 2009 1:22 PM

what tier will they be? :)

I cannot tell you. The Test Team must remain secret in order to ensure that it is fair. If you submit an application, we can battle and you can find out. However, it is recommended that you bring a mix of OU and UU.

PorcelainDoll October 18th, 2009 1:45 PM

For being a new member, you certainly have outdone yourself. I suggest you put the permission in the main post somewhere though. (Saying that Horizon had approved the thread)

This seems highly interesting and I would be honored to be a fellow executive if I do say so myself. Now you got me typing all weird with your strange but awesome writing style.

Here's my application:

Aero; 0431 4623 4356
Steel is all I can do...
Emperor; Judgement; Fortune

I'm sure I'll live up to expectations, but I have a quick question. Does each of our teams have to completely consist of our single type? As in, I'll have to use six steels? If so, I highly suggest making it so that only 2/3 of a team has to correspond with the type...having it all be monotype isn't a good idea, ever.

Also, freeze clause isn't possible over Wifi...freezing is a spontaneous event over Wifi.

Thank you, though your application must have three types. I can never promise anyone that they will get their first choice. And yes, your team must be fully Steel typed (including mixed pokemon, such as Metagross). Your suggestion is noted, though Team Destiny will remain unchanged. Additionally, it is noted in bold that Horizon approved this on the first post.

Not to be too self-confident or anything, but I assure you that I'll be good enough to handle the steel type gym over anyone else that wanders the battle area here at PC. Just ask anyone really...

Also, I'll give a full monotype team a try, but I assure you, it's not smart, and even those of us that are extremely good at battling (Greene is a great example and will probably bring up the same point) won't be able to handle a fully monotype team as you can't cover all your weaknesses in a reliable manner.

I'm saying basically, if someone brought in a team of pokemon that could nail me with Fire, Ground, and Fighting type moves constantly, there'd be no hope in winning because as soon as my pokemon with Levitate dies, I'm extremely vulnerable to Ground type moves for the rest of the match. If Heatran dies, I'm extremely vulnerable to Fire...you see what I'm saying?

I do. However, I would like to see how this goes. I have run monotype for my own entertainment in competitive play and found great success merely by preparing for the obvious counter types in my movesets and strategies. Executives, as well, receive an uber each. I appreciate that you, too, are willing to give this a try. It feels more authentic to run a full monotype.

xD I was in your same exact position a while back (as in giving it a try first). I will try it out first, and if we all end up doing terrible, I highly suggest we revert to 2/3. It's a nice fall-back plan to have.

Anyway, could we do our test match tomorrow seeing as how I really should be asleep right now (oh, and I never plan to use an Uber unless it's Uber battles, which won't happen in this league).

This is not my first attempt at it. As I said, I have found surprising success playing monotype in competitive for a long time.

Yes, we may battle tomorrow. However, if you choose, as an Executive, to pass up the opportunity of an uber in your team- then I shall hear no complaints from you that the rules have caused you to lose. It is intended as a balancing factor against the aforementioned disadvantage of running a single type.

You seem awfully haughty and I'm not sure if it's just you pretending to be your own persona or if you actually believe that you have direct authority over me...it's kind of off putting honestly.

I'd enjoy seeing some of these monotype battles that you have played. :/ I've been playing competitively for about three years now and I frequent the S&M section. Monotype doesn't work...and throwing an Uber into the equation as an answer to the imbalance isn't much of an answer at all.

Maybe I'm just overly heated about this, but now I'm kind of questioning whether or not I even want to join this league...

Tori October 18th, 2009 7:29 PM

at any point tonight are we going to have the test battle??
or would you like to postpone it?

Oddly enough, I have received the very same impression from you starting with your first post, what with your having broken the application rules out of sheer arrogance. I realize you may want to help. However, it is possible that I am here for the fun of it. Monotype is less than optimized, but it is far from the disaster you make it out to be. Thank you for your advice. Please forgive my impatience.

Oddly enough, no where in my first post do I express any hint of authority over you...and I don't think I had throughout my entire presence in this thread. I do want to help, and I realize you're determined to make it what you want, but seeing as I have already discovered that you're just as stubborn as I am, I'll leave it at that.

I do admit thought, that I am becoming quite contemptuous as my posts continue, but I'm merely fighting fire with fire. What I get, I return in most cases and this must be one of them...

And with that I bid you ado, as you may have just lost one of your top executives...

That is unfortunate and entirely your decision. Again, I apologize for losing patience at this late hour. Perhaps, another day, you will review the conversation and see some light of my side. It is very possible that Team Destiny will become 2/3 in the future. Right now, I would like to test this. Not because I am an amatuer, but because I see a world where theme, story, and depth are more important than tiers and optimization. Forgive me if you can. Otherwise, good bye.

Indeed it was. You have potential. Several features of your team caught me off guard.

Tori October 18th, 2009 8:24 PM

the pokemon previously mentioned was a last minute edition, therefore it wasn't the best performance but it did quite well.

If you require any help understanding, do not hesitate to ask.

i am slightly confused too :S do you need to defeat all the grunts to challenge the executives? how many will there be? what are the tiers? XD

You must defeat each Commander in order to challenge the Executives. Commanders may have you fight a Grunt first or they may not.

LilacLust October 19th, 2009 8:11 AM

so the commanders are like gym leaders and the executives are like elites? i get it now! XD

did you just delete your post?

to the way it sounds to me is an actual gym from a pokemon game u go to the gym there there are ordinary trainers(grunts) then the commander(leader) is that close XD cause im still confused

Think of it as a pyramid. There are gonna be a lot of grunts on the bottom, who you hafta clear, all using pretty weak pokemon (mostly UU), and then once you clear a number of them, you can fight one of the commanders. Then repeat until youve beat all the commanders. Then you get to play with the executives, and try out beating them. So ya its alot like a gym only more evil ^^

Code October 19th, 2009 9:58 AM

This is a VERY good Idea, But there are too many Excecutives/Elites/commanders. There aren't gonna be enough experienced battlers here on PC to be grunts And Commanders. When/If everybody joins, there will only be random battles with Newbs (not n00bs. That's a bad word. XD) who just joined. If you had only 10 or less comanders, then you can have grunts, because with the number of commanders atm, there would have to be even more grunts, and PC simply doesn't have that many battlers that want to join this setup.

Phoenix_Wright October 19th, 2009 10:31 AM

Not to bother you Scientist Davis but do you know what rank I am...?

Mukkamoto October 19th, 2009 10:45 AM

Full Name and Friend Code : Mukkamoto, 1418 5218 7909
Three desired types in priority order: Water, Psychic, Fighting
Three desired titles in priority order: Empres, Judgement, Devil

I like the idea of this, hence i'm willing to try out.

The grunt system is entirely for those inexperienced players you have described. It is for people who do not feel entirely ready to bear the full responsibility of competitively defending Team Destiny, yet still want to take part in it. There is a distinct possibility that we will have no grunts at all, or very few. That is perfectly okay.

I must complete the last of the applications before I can tell anyone their rank for sure. Please be patient. Expect your rank no later than this weekend.

So when we have everything ready, will you give us the prize pokemon to the winners?

The prizes will be given out by me to challengers who defeat Executives. I may also provide fully EV trained pokemon to my fellow Executives and Commanders on request. Frequently.

doompath220 October 19th, 2009 1:42 PM

I was looking online for a kind-of gym leader setup, when I ran onto this thread. This looks like a really neat idea.

Doompath220
3480-8927-9959

Dark, Dragon, Fire

Judgement, Star, Sun (Commander & Executive)(Don't wanna be grunt, so won't post titles for them)

Is it possible for a member to deny all challengers from team mates???

Within reason. If a member is fully capable and secure in their rank, then yes. The promotion system is in place to prevent stagnation, wherein someone less experienced clogs up a rank they caught ahold of early on when there was little competition for it.

Greene1516 October 19th, 2009 3:45 PM

Ah yes, very good. Well I wouldn't mind a General of War executive thing you have going there. Otherwise a Commander job would be cool. I can't battle right now, but if you need reference you can check out my many battles on youtube (link in sig) or get a reference from just about any regular of the battle forums here.

And applicants must choose one types to use???

Just 3 of your preffered types. The top being your prefered and the bottom as the least. Also include 3 tarot cards and that should be it :)

Thank you. To apply, you select your favorite three titles and three types. You will receive one of each depending on how you do in the test battle compared to other applicants. The type you receive will consist of 100% of your team. For example, a Steel team may have Metagross (mixed Steel/Psychic) but not Alakazam. Every pokemon must be Steel. Remember, challengers of Team Destiny must keep the same team throughout their entire conquest. So do not worry about a team of Machamps if you monotype Dark. That very same team would fall immediately to one of your fellow Executives.

Greene1516 October 19th, 2009 3:54 PM

Right well I will have to think about the types and names. But as I said, I can't battle for now, so if a battle is absolutely necessary I cannot apply.

hahaha. ok think really hard about your team then, Chief General of Military Affairs, But I'm pretty sure you need to battle lol

Yup. Now you need to know when to battle... I think lol.

Sackferth October 19th, 2009 4:20 PM

I have a question though.

In the test battle...would I be using a standard metagame team as well?...
Or would I be using a monotype team of one of the three that I had picked?

Monotype. Even if you do not win, you are still likely to enter Team Destiny successfully. It is only to evaluate your skill. When will you be available?

Also: The new prize/shop system is up! Members of Team Destiny can earn items by winning! Challengers can earn prizes by defeating us!

I don't feel that my skill will be properly evaluated with a ragtag team just thrown together,
I would feel more confident if I had a team planned out.
However, I will see what I have and will try to be ready to battle as soon as possible. :rambo:

Take your time. There is no rush. Please create the best monotype team you can manage. I will not be giving out any ranks at least until this weekend. I have a lot of applications to go through. Relax and plan your game.
