Pokemon Colosseum [GBA Remake]

POKEMON
COLOSSEUM
Story (If you don't know it already)

Spoiler:
The game takes place in the Orre region, a land that is mostly barren desert. No wild Pokémon can be found there, so an organization named Team Snagem has developed a device called the Snag Machine that allows them to steal Pokémon from trainers. Before the storyline begins, Wes (the main character, whose name can be changed by the player) is a member of this organization.
The game begins with Wes having a change of heart, for reasons that are never specified. He blows the Team Snagem hideout up, destroying the larger of the two Snag Machines, while taking the portable one for himself.

Who's it being made by?

Team Crystal is hacking Pokemon "FireRed" to be like Pokemon "Colosseum"

Will it include everything the original had?

While this is planned, hacking is no easy business and it will take some time to figure out the situation.

Can I join "Team Crystal"?

Of Course! We will need many workers so that we can get it done quick and efficiently, we do recommend that you have had some previous graphical or hacking experience before applying, you can visit Team Crystal's page in the team discussion forum when it's approved.

Will there be anything extra in it?

We can't answer that question right now, we REALLY WANT TO, but you have to put your priorities first.

When will it be released?

We plan on having ONE beta before it's released, whether it will be public or private beta testing is up to the team to decide.

Can I beta test?

It depends on what decisions as a team make. If there are beta testing positions there will be info in the Team Crystal thread.

Thanks for looking! I will answer all questions that I can in this thread.

Triverske October 20th, 2009 8:05 PM

It's Pokemon Colosseum, but if you insist

Ray Maverick October 21st, 2009 3:50 AM

Its a good idea, but there is already a hack like this. Although it seems its dead. ;/

I'm not sure if anyone can represent Colosseum as it is in the original game. :\
So, if you haven't played Colosseum before, you probably won't like this hack.

It depends. If it is a copy(exactly) of colosseum, then I won't like it. If it has any changes, then it's ok.

Triverske October 21st, 2009 7:44 AM

There's no way it can be exactly the same, don't expect much in 3D

No, if you haven't played the game, you won't like it, because the game won't have any difference as we can't put 3D graphics in a GBA Rom.

What he ^ said.

Mortal Danger October 21st, 2009 8:47 AM

I don't mean 3D graphics. I mean any difference in the story...

Banjora Marxvile October 21st, 2009 8:52 AM

Well... I already worked on the old version of this, that DARKSHADE actually is creating (so close to a beta, but never actually released... Yet). Either way, you will experience problems (the tiles, how the snagging works... And also, the Shadow Pokemon without replacing old ones, as well as the Purification). For a first (or whatever) hack, this isn't the best thing to do.

I would like it either ways, but i highly doubt someone is going to complete a Colosseum remake hack, because you need a huge tile variety for every town.

Actually, you will be surprised. The amount of tiles isn't actually that many. But it is still a hell of a lot, and I think you would need a great Tile Inserter, or become one before attempting the tiles.

Chibi Robo October 21st, 2009 9:06 AM

Yeah I worked with marx on Colosseum too.
Good luck.
You will have to have an AMAZING scripter, spriter and a tile inserter.
Since it takes so long to make the shadow pokemon scripts.
Mostly all the sprites have to be new. And you have to find a way to have the boy/girl follow you around. So once again Good luck your gonna need it.

Yes, but DARKSHADE knows how to sprite the tiles that need to be inserted so they can make a Colosseum remake.

I'm not planning much change in the story, if it comes to the point where we absolutely need to for technical reasons then there may be change. Other than that probably no, maybe some "gym" like arenas.

Lord Varion October 23rd, 2009 12:48 AM

To remake pokemon colloseum,...
that will take a long...long...long...long...long...
long...long...long...long...long...long...long...long
...long...long...long...long...long...long...long...
long...long...long...long...long...long...long...time
how are going to do it?
There is too much too do i dont think a simple gba rom will cope.
coz you'll need:
Mt battle (1 vs 100)
8 different collsuems(they could be gyms)
shadow pokemon
no wild pokemon
no HMs
And be able to capture trainer pokemon but make sure its a shadow pokemon
and always have double battle(not too hard if you think abouts it...)
and last but not least 6 people for the final battles.

But please fill me in with any details i would love to know just e-mail me @

DARKSHADE is making his own remake, and I am sure he doesn't want competition (I know, I inserted a few of them!)

nintendork: Actually, the Mt. Battle theory is like Battle Tower, Shadow Pokemon may take a while, no HMs, just don't use them, no wild pokemon, again don't use the grass... Colloseums are the same principle as Battle Tower, in a way, or just a script like the E4 script, except when you finish, you go back to the counter.

But it will take ages. Trust me, do not start with this, but something new and creative, and easier.

Triverske October 23rd, 2009 12:51 PM

I am doing this hack, I've already inserted some tiles. I'm not one of those people who gives up after 4 days, if anything I'm going to give up because it's impossible to finish. I know what I'm doing, I'm not a 12 year old who thinks they rule the internet.

~Kian~ October 23rd, 2009 1:03 PM

hey man i really want one of these hacks to be made i can make shadow pokemon if ya want???

That's pretty cool. But we're not talking about 4 days, we talk about years.

Well, no-one said that. I was giving advice, as trust me, this will be the hardest thing you will possibly do, and also takes AGES. And you haven't got as much help as the other remake has, so...

I really wish you all the best, but I really think that you should start small, then do this.

That's right. I would take very seriously Deviation, because he has experienced what a true Colosseum remake is.

machomuu October 23rd, 2009 2:24 PM

Only one alpha? What's the point in that? I mean, trailers would be more efficient if there's only one beta.

Triverske October 23rd, 2009 8:31 PM

Think of this as Team Crystal's long term project. I'm quite aware it won't happen in 4 days, I'm just saying that's about when most people quit. We're thinking about teaming up with another team for a good short term hack.
