A joke

I thought you guys only appointed moderators when they've been here for a while.

So how the heck did the CQ+F mod become one without actually being here for like two seconds? And having like 0 posts?

Coming back after a break and seeing PC admins breaking rules?

I don't mind being banned anymore, so you can infract me for this as spam, I don't like PC much now, I have other tasteful forums to be posting at now. But just one of those honest and pretty good questions.

And I quote from the FAQ:
Quote:

Moderators are reviewed and selected by the higher staff. As with many forums, the general rule of thumb is "do not ask to be a mod or you will not become one." Anyway, moderators are chosen for their assets to the forum. If you would like to be a potential candidate, be sure to be kind, helpful, and make smart, quality posts. Don't spam and respect all those around you. When a moderator is needed in one of the areas you are constantly active in, you may be asked.
Homeland Threat has barely been here a day. How the hell does that consider being active?

Ray Maverick October 22nd, 2009 6:37 AM

If you don't really care about PC, then why do you care about CQ+F? They may be a friend of an admin, or an important person. (I still don't believe they could be modded even if they were though)

Oh, wrong section; XD

Alter Ego October 22nd, 2009 6:38 AM

If I may venture a guess, I would say that the moderator was chosen by virtue of having done less harm in this section than the other candidates.

Just a wild guess, of course. u_u

Sajuuk October 22nd, 2009 6:39 AM

@DeathWish: Erm, the user has only been here once, today.
@Alter: Same as above.

This supports the viability of my theory rather than weakening it, you realize.

Ho-Oh October 22nd, 2009 6:41 AM

Okay Spey, the person is an alt. Not sure whether I'm allowed to reveal who, although it's quite obvious. XD;

This meaning, they're already a staff member, thus not breaking any rules.

Sajuuk October 22nd, 2009 6:43 AM

Oh.
But why would PC Staff create alts and break their own rules?

Mika October 22nd, 2009 6:43 AM

It's not illegal to create alts.

It's illegal to sock puppet, meaning have two accounts that are both owned by you but you pretend they're owned by two different people. u-u You also can't use your alts to ban evade and all that stuff.

Miz en Scène October 22nd, 2009 6:48 AM

I'm with Alter Ego and Death Wish on this one.

Though, I'm a supporter of the friend of staff theory also.
He sounds new to the forums when I checked out his conversation with Shalon however.

Samme! October 22nd, 2009 6:50 AM

Honestly, I don't think we need to worry about a person becoming a Moderator. The staff chose him/her for their own reasons and wouldn't do this as a joke.

/Agreed.

@Homeworld'sa Why do you care so much anyway? I thought you didn't care much for PC?

Sajuuk October 22nd, 2009 6:57 AM

It just seems so wrong for someone of PC staff to do such a thing and violate rules they made.

Mika October 22nd, 2009 7:02 AM

Like I said, people are allowed to have alts. >>;

With all the sucking up that happens to staff, it's completely feasible that the staff would make an alt nobody knows that nobody can research up on mod who mods a section like CQ&F. :3 They're not breaking their old rules. If you noticed, the rules say the staff choses the moderator positions. It gives hints as to how mods are chosen but the actual method of mod placement is kept under more lock and key than Matt's freshly baked cookies. u_u How they do things is decided in their own staff room. They have no reason nor do they owe us any explanation as to why this person was modded. :> We, as members, need to just salute them, respect their authority and move right along on with our daily lives.

No rules have been violated. This person wishes to be kept secret, hence the reason for the alt. So let's forget this and carry on with our day/night.

Angela October 22nd, 2009 7:06 AM

It's not in against the rules to make a clone account... Nica already told you that...

Even you can make a clone account as long as you don't pretend to be another person....

Also it's very understandable that a person getting a promotion would ask for a new account, seeing if they have had a dodgy past on PC or something like that...

Sajuuk October 22nd, 2009 7:17 AM

Since it doesn't seem to be against the rules, I'll just flood the server with as many dupes as I want

You don't need to be a sore loser here dude, just admit you misjudged the situation. People have already told you that 1) the person chosen to mod is legit and is already a staff member and 2) that's completely within PC's regulations.

To threaten things is just immature. And I'm sure that if you're creating multiple accounts with intentions to harm the server it isn't an issue of 'alts' anymore, it becomes an issue of malicious actions for which you could be permabanned.

Arcanine October 22nd, 2009 7:42 AM

We Modded this person based off the skills they have shown on another Pokemon forum (I won't name names) and we thought it'd be a good idea to add them skills to our own. So we went to this person and asked them if they wanted to be a Mod here. This person agreed and thus why Homeland Threat joined today and has such a low post count.

Lol, at least make sure your stories are kept the same guys.
Anyway Spey, no need to worry if anyone gets modded in CQ&F, I'm pretty sure nearly every other member on PC would be modded here before you.

Haha, I noticed this too :>

Now to do a little personal investigation of who it is, just for kicks and giggles. And I won't share results so don't ask >:o

seeker October 22nd, 2009 7:57 AM

Well, thus far they have done a smashing job. Closing that one thread shows that this wasn't a bad decision (b")b

Percy Thrillington October 22nd, 2009 8:02 AM

Personally I think this Homeland Threat punk is actually just an alternate account of Spey's, and Spey just made this thread to shake off everyone's suspicion that it is indeed him. You are quite the card, Spey. You nearly had me fooled but I think you'll find that I've won this round, Spey! Or do I have to refer to you as Mister Moderator now?

Yeah, I thought so too. This person has done a fine job so far and I'm perfectly fine to let him/her continue.

In my opinion, being a "friend of the admin" is a very fair and legit reason to disregard the person's lack of time on PC, as long as said admin is a good admin.

That's not automatically favoritism, you know. If said person is a good admin, and has demonstrated to the PC admins outside of PC for some time that he is a good admin, why does it matter how long he's been on PC? He's still a good admin...

Conclusion: He's not a bad admin. So there's no reason to complain in the first place.

I'd also like to point out those "rules" you posted don't look like "rules" in the first place. They look more like guidelines to me.

Alex_ October 22nd, 2009 9:21 AM

You guys are just mad because Spey is right, as usual, and everyone else is wrong. Simple as that.
