Pure Grass Team (a test in planning)
With Emerald coming up with those nifty move tutors and ability to pass on a Pokemon's nature when bred (only works with the female parent or Ditto), I am feeling confident about forming an all Grass-type team. Why? 'cause I like Grass types and people are always saying how they're the weakest type, so I want to prove their awesomeness.
Sceptile, Modest -leaf blade -crunch -thunderpunch -dragonclaw/some other move It will be hard trying to earn enough battle points for thunderpunch, but it will be SO worth it. Die, flying types! Maxed special attack/speed, of course. I like modest better than timid. Packs a stronger punch. Breloom, Jolly -spore (SO predictable, eh?) -brick break -sludge bomb -er... mach punch? I may consider making him a sub-puncher. I'm not sure. This is the only member of my team who I actually have. I take pride in Mushfume :D. I know that even with Jolly nature, Breloom still isn't that fast. But with monster attack, may as well kick his speed up a few notches. Tropius, Adamant -aerial ace -earthquake -return/body slam -some other attack that doesn't suck I always liked Tropius but never trained one. Now that I can breed EQ to it and can control its nature with breeding, my wish becomes a reality! I may make the last move magic leaf and give Tropius the Brave nature. So, anyway, should more ev's go into hp or defenses? Ludicolo, Modest -surf -razor leaf -ice beam -fire punch, ha! I guess I SHOULD go with the rain dancing moveset to help the team out against fire types. But the concept of a special sweeping Ludicolo really appeals to me, plus I'm more of an attacker. Perhaps instead it should have rain dance/leech seed/dive/toxic, the boring moveset. Cradily, ??? ??? That's right, I'm absolutely stumped on this sea beast. I want to make him the defensive team member, possibly set up reflect and/or light screen, toxic or something. Substitute may work well. It may or may not have any attacking moves, if it did, then either rock slide or ancient power. This dude is a tank who can't be forced out of battle, and I want to take advantage of that aspect somehow. I am also not sure of the last team member. Either Venusaur or Exeggutor. Venusaur could use the swords dance/physical moves combo, but it's slow. And eggy is a sunny beamer, but hp fire will be impossible to get, plus it puts the team in a fire danger. Maybe Exeggutor with a non-sunny moveset, but then it's limited. Or, be a sneak and use Kecleon :D. |
Sceptile seems ok I guess. For Tropious, I would make it the same as Vensaur, a staller. But rather than giving it Protect, give it Fly (not joking here).
Tropious @ Leftovers + Atk - Sp. Atk or + Sp. Def - Sp. Atk Fly Leech Seed Toxic Sysnthesis |
Consider Exeggutor. Chlorophyll is pretty beneficial to an extent, and if you end up sunny daying something flamy, go boom =)
just a thought anywho |
For the last member I would use:
[email protected] Levftovers Nature: I'm not really sure. Sludge Bomb/ Toxic Leech Seed Protect/ Razor Leaf Earthquake HE gets all of the HP he needs from Leftovers and Leech Seed, and Toxic will do more damage, or if you choose Sludge Bomb it has 90 power and I belive it will get STAB. :) |
Sorry I'm not good at making movesets and such, but I know you forgot an awesome poke:
Shiftry!!! Sorry, I have personal biases towards my favorite pokemon! |
Let's see.. Shiftry isn't easy to use...
[email protected]/Liechi Berry EV: 252 Att, 6 Speed, 252 Def Nature: + Att, - Sp Att Explosion Leech Seed Shadow Ball Quick Attack Set up Leech Seed, then attack or go boom. It's not like Shiftry has the defences to last long anyway. As for Cradily: [email protected] EV: 252 HP, 129 Def, 129 Sp Def Nature: + Att, - Speed Substitute/Confuse Ray Rest Toxic Rock Slide Basic tankage. You can drop Sub for another attack or Confuse Ray for annoyance |
Why minus speed on Cradily? Adamant would be better since it has no special attackage (new word), right? And you're positive a plus attack nature would be good even if it had no attack ev's? I have to be sure because, ingame, it takes a long time to ev train.
I'm still torn between Exeggutor and Venusaur. I have a quiet nature Eggsecute right now but then I found out it can't learn Shadowball. Still, exploding seems fun :D. |
Hows this Venusar?
[email protected] Leech Seed Toxic Sludge Bomb (Your Choice) With toxic and Leech Seed, you drain your opponents points and giving them to you, and destroying thier hp more. Leftovers and Leech Seed gives it hp that Venusar needs so he can keep on going. He gets STAB from Sludge Bomb, which practically makes it a total killer. |
i love grass types, i have almost all of them and there evolutions - cradily with recover, ingrain and/or leftovers is very good at living(mine hardly ever fainted in colesseum :] ) if you want to explode you can use shiftry too, (thats all i use him for) tropius has plenty of hp try relaxed nature to get high defense with less speed, it gets double speed with Sunny day and all ev's in def and sp def/hp
|
I would choose Venosaur. I mean, It's butt-ugly, but kicks butt! That could be your team motto =p
I love my venosaur to death! It's named BULBY XD |
hey venasaur if very cute
anyway go for venasaur[bold] EVs - SpAtt, hp, SpDef leech seed sleep powder HP grass/sludge bomb rest or u can go for Venasaur[adamant] EVs - Att, hp, SpDef earthquake sludge bomb sleep powder sword dance Hello wheres eggy??? |
Meganium is one of the best grass pokemon, (i think so anyways!;) ) so consider him. I'm not sure if you can get him in emerald, though.
|
My decision is final: the eggsellent palm tree of doom. I am wary of sunnybeam because an all-grass team is screaming FIRE and Eggy's special defense is pretty so-so meh. This is why I was questioning either reflect or light sceen on Cradily (if it learns them) to help out Ludicolo and Exeggutor respectively.
EDIT: plus Exeggutor is cute in a really odd way. I adore the quirkiness of Ludicolo and Cradily. If only Shiftry were more flexible, I'd train him. Perhaps when Emerald comes out, I'll take one for a spin, see how it suits me. |
Sorry to double post, but I'm happy to report that I am the proud new owner of an adamant FEMALE Lileep. So I repeat my question: is it ok to max hp/fill up defenses and put no ev's into attack? I plan on ev training her later (I had just finished my modest Ludicolo and brave Tropius). I really love Cradily, I just wish that the gold eyes in its mouth really were teeth ^_^.
Team status: jolly Breloom, modest Ludicolo, brave Tropius, and mild Sceptile are fully completed in ev training. Quiet Exeggutor in progress, adamant Lileep sitting there. Even if they aren't the natures I wanted, it's cool to have each poke with a different nature. |
why not net battle instead of doing all this? easier and funner b/c u get to do (internation battles). plus it would be so hard to breed/reset this an that, you know?
|
Kirby, go away. I do not like you. And I find earning my Pokemon more fun than entering their stats for netbattle and that's that.
|
why dont you like me? i was only ttrying to help... osrry...
|
Kirby... Do you even NB? I mean, I would love beat you sometime =3.
|
I don't like you because you were saying how disturbing I was because of the content of my Hitmonchan fan site. But that's beyond the topic. Now, Cradily me, someone.
|
wasnt that like 3-4 months ago? u made a thread about me and I got over it. ii thought there was something else i did... and i didnt say u were, i thought u might be so i suggested/tried to help u. i wasnt trying to be mean about it, altho just implying u were whether my intentions were good or bad is mean in its own sense. im sorry again, but i hope u dont hate me continously.
|
Ivee-chan...your team looks KILLER! w00t!
i REALL- *tkeas of caps lock* -y want to see how well your team does, mostly because I'm a grass fanatic. PS- LOVE YOUR AVIE! Any possible chance you could make me a nice banner? I'm your biggest fan art-wise! |
Yes, very nice team! *hands you the winning lottery number*
I love grass pokemon, too, but is it really that bad as people say? |
Sceptile is ace, I took down a Kyogre and Groudon with it (in the same battle)
This would be my Grass team, not thinking about MS's or IV's or stuff like that Sceptile Breloom Cradily Venusaur Ludicolo Cacturne |
I personally like HP Fire on Sceptile, but that's for NB, I doubt your Sceptile will have HP Fire to play with (but more power if he does)
|
What nature would I need to get a Treecko (it wouldn't be Sceptile from the egg XD) with Hidden Power Fire?
