[MTG] Budget Monoblack Control
24 Swamp
2 Soul-stair expedition 4 Amilliary sphere 2 Doom blade 2 Drudge skeletons 4 Gatekeeper of Malakir 3 Marsh Casualties 4 Sign in blood 2 Looming shade 4 Vampire nighthawk 2 Gravedigger 4 Tendrils of Corruption 1 Consume Spirit Classic standard control deck. The basic game plan is to gain as much card advantage as possible while stabilizing. This deck is strictly destructive against anything running creatures. In the early game, you want to trade gatekeepers (with kicker) with oppoents and block with drudge skeletons to generate your stall long enough for you to marsh casualties their board for tons of stuff. After that, you bring back gatekeepers for more with gravediggers, and play win conditions like looming shade and consume spirit. Nighthawks are removal that require combat, so they aren't as good. At the same time, you can gain some life out of them. They aren't ideal, but they work to a certain extent. This is especially because you want your shades to stick so you can hit for ridiculous amount of damage. If they waste removal on your shade, it is still good. :) Save your doom blades and your tendrils. They are your emergency creature removal against the big and the bad. You want usually 1 or 2 of them in your hand at all times in case your opponent plays ridiculous stuff like Broodmate dragon or terra stomper. Swamps are, ironically, very important in this deck. Play them lots! Amilliary sphere is there to keep the swamps coming later on in the game. so you'll draw mostly gas. This is NOT competitive and is not designed to be competitive. It works pretty well against the casual tables, considering its rarelessness. Adding money: Sorin Bloodwitch Bloodghast |
