Caddug July 22nd, 2007 10:27 AM

For god sake, read the massive letters.

BAN ME.

BluePhoenix July 22nd, 2007 10:31 AM

Uh...You can always contact the admin if you are that desperate *Blinks*

Why do you want to get banned...you can just leave...if you want to get out of this place that badly...?

Caddug July 22nd, 2007 10:31 AM

i have contacted an admin, and i just want to be banned, because no one will ban you lot.

Caddug July 22nd, 2007 10:32 AM

BAN ME
............................................................

aRedMoon July 22nd, 2007 10:42 AM

Ah, drama, hasn't been enough of it lately...~

BluePhoenix July 22nd, 2007 10:47 AM

I guess it will never end until Caddug's wish is granted!

Geometric-sama July 23rd, 2007 7:12 AM

Well, looks like a happy fairy granted Caddug's wish. :)

Greggle, I'm always happy to pick up webbieshipping again if you are~ :P

As for phpBB login: yes, if you just want to log into the forum and not integrate a memberbase with a CMS, you can do that very easily. Just copy the form code from the login page of your phpBB forum (so it gets all the field names right), but change the action in the <form> tag to have the full URL to the login processing page instead of the relative path (which is probably something like login.php - you want to change it to http://yoursite/login.php).

Lord Kokkei July 23rd, 2007 1:20 PM

hmm...another question though. Since we're planning on using the same login on many sites, is it possible to make it so that once someone logs into one of the sites they are automatically logged into other sites and remembered there as well?

Hackers are in no way random. They won't get you unless you have done something they don't like at all, or unless they think of you as some sort of noob. Hackers are not understandable, but one thing you should know is that they aren't random people.

Drama, I too miss it. Usually it's me, but I've been pretty lame recently. Not in the drama mood.

But Caddug had a lot of provocation. JA, BlueEew, and Greg all overreacted and caused stuff. I'm sure that if some other members took some time to hold their own tongues, things wouldn't have gotten nasty.

On the other hand, I could go with a conspiracy theory. We needed activity, drama = activity, then suddenly some pops up. What was Caddug getting paid to do this?

I know hackers are not random, I said they hacks for fun or for testing their skills...We may not understand hackers, but they do hack some sites for absolutely no reason, like you said: They won't hack your site unless they think of you as some sort of noob...Why did they go and hack the index page, and write billions of "HAHAHA! You have been hacked!"

I am saying (Even Paul) that every site needs to be protected, even if it is just normal site.

pokejungle July 25th, 2007 5:19 AM

Yeah Mount Moon was exploited, but I upgraded and fixed it before anything happened. That was a much more professional job then some site getting hacked.

You need to set them to use the same cookie.

pokejungle July 25th, 2007 7:19 AM

It can be kind of confusing BTW. Integration tends to suck if it's not pulled off perfectly.

aRedMoon July 25th, 2007 10:25 PM

Integration is the biggest headache a webmaster will ever have to deal with, especially if you're using a variety of 3rd party scripts.

My suggestion would be to base it all off your forum software, as scripts commonly get integrated with forums and not other types. (Meaning galleries are more likely to have integrations made with forums and blogs with forums, but you'll be hard pressed to find a gallery/blog integration)

^ bad example, but I hope you get what I mean

....and sometimes hackers/crackers can be random. I remember the phpBB exploit where people would google for phpBB 2.0.3 and lesbian-porn up any forum they saw with it.

Faltzer July 26th, 2007 8:11 AM

Sometimes, sites just aren't worth the hack for some subjects. :/;

While on the topic of integration, it's not so hard as thought of. I've integrated my myBB copy before when I ran FHQ in the past, and it was okay. Some things weren't working as good as expected though. Though I've always had problems when it came to cookies.

Faltzer July 26th, 2007 2:19 PM

Eh, I'm all for spending money on just about anything that does whatever I tell it to do.

Lord Kokkei July 26th, 2007 2:51 PM

hmm...spend an entire day and found no one. Eh, they'll eventually pop out I guess...

pokejungle July 26th, 2007 3:14 PM

Yeah, I definitely like IP things. Having a gallery and blog for your forum is a really cool thing.

BluePhoenix July 27th, 2007 6:41 AM

Hm...maybe we could do what Ausaudriel said...I also like the skins of IPB! But the price is just too much for me...149.99 USD = 10,289.31 BDT

One of my friend's friend bought an IPB, but not using his own money...he got someone's PayPal account's details and used up the money to buy an IPB! O_O

pokejungle July 27th, 2007 7:15 AM

Yeah, don't do that.

I'd do what I usually do and stage a fundraiser on my site to get something I want. My visitors put up with it if I do it sparingly because I provide an ad-free site.

I'm not sure if it's a good switch, but I hate ads.

BluePhoenix July 27th, 2007 8:11 AM

I would never! If I did, I would feel guilty and never come online ever again!

I hate ads too, but in my opinion, if webmasters do want to put up ads, they should put one, and only one Google Ad, or some other ad, in a separate section, below all the main ones...And definitely no Pop ups! I can't stand them, you click and boom! There's a pop up! >_>

Ads are better than pop ups, but only if they are put in one place and looks good! Fundraisers are WAY better! =P

pokejungle July 27th, 2007 8:54 AM

I don't think people are stupid enough to click ads anyways. It's now like synonymous with virus and stuff.

There's just so much fake sh*t on AdSense.

Faltzer July 27th, 2007 9:15 AM

I used to click my own ads when I was still a noob thinking that I'd get more money even by using a cheap proxy.

pokejungle July 27th, 2007 9:44 AM

Well, did you make more money?

lol

BluePhoenix July 27th, 2007 10:37 AM

Lol, must have been fun for you back then?

Well, some people actually do click ads, I have seen some sites who literally force members to click the ads, for maybe free domains or something like that...They had like a contest where people would enter, and they would randomly pick a person...but ONLY if they made about a certain amount of money...

That was really scary...I feel sad for all those poor n00bs over there...

Revolution July 27th, 2007 10:38 AM

Hey why aint Mount Moon working Phrase?
I put ads on my site just to make money and hold contests and stuff like that. Who knows i could someday hold a Contest for someone to win Battle Revolution or something.

BluePhoenix July 27th, 2007 10:49 AM

Hm...That could work...Since you are giving them something in return...WiiDS is giving a free Nintendo Wii...So, maybe you should try something like that? Because, I mean, people can buy a Battle Revolution easily...I think XD

Maybe you could like, pre-order the Mystery Dundgeon 2 and have a contest for that...That would be nice! More people will get into the contest as well!

Revolution July 27th, 2007 12:15 PM

Well that game doesnt come out for a very long time so I dont think so. But also not that many people have money to get Battle Revolution.

pokejungle July 27th, 2007 1:36 PM

Ausaudriel, I get 2,000 visitors each day. It costs me $150 a year, which isn't too steep, but I don't have a job. So yeah, sometimes I do have to ask for donations. I'm getting a job though soon.

And I think my site'll give away Battle Revolution in about September, if the number of Wii owners are high enough. Otherwise no, and we'll have to give away something else ;;

Lord Kokkei July 27th, 2007 2:30 PM

eh, I don't mind ads as long as it's intergrated with the site and doesn't hurt people's eyes. I use google's ads as decorations.

pokejungle July 27th, 2007 2:53 PM

I still don't think anyone clicks on 'em much. In fact, I use AdBlock.

:]

Geometric-sama July 27th, 2007 6:32 PM

I have a Google Adsense unit on my main site, but it doesn't really make enough to keep it going. I get a payout once every two or three years if I'm lucky. I can't fund my sites out of my own pocket (US$150/year hosting, US$45/year domains + AU$60/year to maintain the PO box I use for contributions) so every now and then I do ask for donations. I don't like doing it, but I'm amazed at the generosity of some people. One visitor gave US$100 this year. @[email protected] I still lose money on running the site, but the donations I get really do help.

pokejungle July 27th, 2007 8:40 PM

The most I've gotten from one person is like $20. Usually it's $5-$10 if I'm lucky.

BluePhoenix July 27th, 2007 9:55 PM

Well, people don't mind donating if the site is good, or if they like owner! But yes, I still have a good amount of money in my PayPal! I don't have a job either, but my relatives give me money for special occasions, so I ask my dad to transfer it to the PayPal account. But after it has been converted to USD, it really doesn't look like a good amount...

Revolution July 28th, 2007 10:22 AM

I've never put anything up for Paypal donations, I might if the site that im working on now gets big, but im not sure if I'll do it because you need to be lucky to get people to donate. So Phrase how's your sites 2.0 layout going?

pokejungle July 28th, 2007 11:05 AM

I should be working on it.

But I am a very lazy person. It's at about 45%.

Revolution July 28th, 2007 11:16 AM

You only have a couple days left man.

pokejungle July 28th, 2007 11:27 AM

Um, yeah. I'll work on it tonight I guess.

There's a certain thing I need to do, and since I'm using DIVs, it's going to be a pain in the ass. So I'm procrastinating.

And yay for 11,000 posts. I am such a geek.

Revolution July 28th, 2007 11:31 AM

Do you have the most Posts? Also are you gonna show us what it looks like?

Faltzer July 29th, 2007 7:36 AM

DIVs are THE best elements you can use, no matter what everybody says. Tables should be meant for tabular data.

Revolution July 29th, 2007 9:52 AM

But I thought DIV's lag more than anything else?

Faltzer July 29th, 2007 10:32 AM

It's on the contrary. DIVs are much faster than tables.

Revolution July 29th, 2007 11:57 AM

You can do a lot more with DIVs, but when I had them on my site I got a lot of Complaints saying it was lagging and it screwed up the site.

pokejungle July 29th, 2007 12:03 PM

You need to do extensive testing to make sure your site doesn't break in a specific browser if you're using DIVs.

I had to edit my code to be IE-friendly already.

Luigi264 July 29th, 2007 12:29 PM

umm hi. can some one direct me to where i may be able to find out how to start a new thread? it would be most appreciated.

Rayman6 July 29th, 2007 12:36 PM

How do I add a home page to my forums.

Then you must be using tons of invalid HTML, or you have so many JS scripts inserted, or it's just the fact that you're hosted by a bad company.

Click on the 'New Thread' button in the forum you want to post a thread in.

Rayman6, IF can't do pages.

And it's true, JS slows down your page ;<

oh! okay thank you for the help!

Revolution July 29th, 2007 8:49 PM

Yeah I probably had a lot of errors. Now I'm validing my pages so that they are clean and load fast. I also dont really use JS that much.

Faltzer July 30th, 2007 8:13 AM

JS shouldn't be used unless deemed necessary.

pokejungle July 30th, 2007 9:17 AM

I decided to cut out the technorati JS because it's just too much. Same with the W3Counter. Now I use Google Analytics, which I would assume is more accurate anyways.

When I have time, I'm also going to mess around with the Google Mash-Up Editor sometime. I'm in the private beta ;D

My new layout is supa-fast! 2 images so far.

Revolution July 30th, 2007 10:46 AM

I just validated my XHTML so now it loads a lot faster. I also fixed things here and there.

pokejungle July 30th, 2007 1:13 PM

Mine is almost valid, just tidying up some things.

BluePhoenix July 31st, 2007 2:34 AM

I gotta validate my one, I have like 64 Errors! >_<
I'll fix them up by today!

pokejungle July 31st, 2007 10:21 AM

Sometimes it gets just ridiculous with XHTML though.

It said the 'h' in a 'the' in my page was invalid because it didn't have a defined name. Screw XML. ;< But other than that mishap, it's all valid.

Revolution July 31st, 2007 11:41 AM

I wish XHTML Strict uses <marquee></marquee>.
Only Traditional uses it.

pokejungle July 31st, 2007 4:16 PM

I think overall though, my PokePet script gets more use than PokeCharms script. My script was originally based off a foreign site though. I just realized that I could take the concept and make it 10x better than the original. ;D I'm adding support for the full D/P Pokemon soon, with Trozei on the way.

But I'm planning something fun in DHTML first.

I'm reading all about CSS2 at the moment and it's like *wow*. I'm totally going to use it right now.

pokejungle July 31st, 2007 6:57 PM

Yeah, that is really ugly.

I'd make a userbar maker, but I want to do something more original now.

And ZOMG I'm totally using CSS to style my menus using unordered lists <3 It's absolutely CSS love. I have learned so effing much from doing an all DIV layout.

BluePhoenix July 31st, 2007 7:07 PM

Lol, that's nice! So How long till it's fully complete?

Btw, what news system do you all use? It turns out that CuteNews does not work properly with PHP5!

Circuitz July 31st, 2007 8:53 PM

Use fusion news I've heard some good comments ;)

pokejungle July 31st, 2007 10:54 PM

I use WebMobo, but it definitely has its drawbacks. Namely template editing is hell... really.

I've got such lovely hover effects in my new layout <3

About 15% left to do tomorrow, but it'll get done!

Squeenix August 1st, 2007 6:42 AM

ya i hate the "get your own at w ww.pokecharms.com so if i make it it won't have any link backs or anything and i bet i can make it better than pokecharms, i extracted all the sprites but heck i can't get it to generate the card so right now its basically useless and i hate that its always exceedin the bandwidth so its down too

BluePhoenix August 1st, 2007 8:34 AM

For some reason, I don't like using Fusion News. I tried using PHPNews, but it doesn't let you delete any news O_o"

It only let's you strike them out...So, I deleted it! XD

I think I'll try WebMobo.

pokejungle August 1st, 2007 8:48 AM

Both our sites should be launching today.

I'm almost finished. The CSS is beautiful IMO.

BluePhoenix August 1st, 2007 10:14 AM

Lol, that's neat! I am waiting for your one to release now!

I finally released PokeFusion! Not much as I expected it to be, but as I promised, PokeFusion will open in 1st August, even if I don't finish it. So I went up and opened it! It's WAY better than before now!

pokejungle August 1st, 2007 12:57 PM

lulz, check PokeFusion's XHTML validity:

This page is not Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional!
Result: Failed validation, 94 Errors

Uh oh! And why didn't you like Fusion News?

Faltzer August 1st, 2007 1:31 PM

I'm still wondering what Project Anti will be, I can't wait. Though usually, I get so excited that when projects are released, I figure my excitement was all for naught. I surely hope that doesn't happen again.

pokejungle August 1st, 2007 1:41 PM

What's Project Anti? I guess I missed something.

Lord Kokkei August 1st, 2007 2:56 PM

Hmm...Project Anti...Won't be long now....You guys'll be blown away by it...I hope...

Squeenix August 1st, 2007 3:26 PM

actually i'm not too famailar with php.. i just started a couple days ago... i cant make a code to actually generate the trainer card.....i think i can do mine better than pokecharms...mostly because there won't be a ugly Make Your Own and Pokecharms.com at the bottem.

Lord Kokkei August 1st, 2007 3:40 PM

most people don't mind, so unless you can make it better in a different way, no one'll use yours.

pokejungle August 1st, 2007 4:49 PM

New PjN layout up. I think I did a decent job on it.

Plus, 100% XHTML valid AND 100% CSS valid~

Not to mention it's coded completely in DIVs.

Punishment August 1st, 2007 4:57 PM

I use Wordpress to display my news. Bah I hate Cutenews.

BluePhoenix August 2nd, 2007 8:27 AM

Wow, thanks for telling me XD
I am removing them, and I have 31 left.

I like the design and everything but my comments system didn't work. I am going to fiddle around with the latest version of Fusion News and WebMobo and see which one I like better.

Also, I think you should try moving the search box a bit to the left, that might help fix the Safari problem!

Lord Kokkei August 2nd, 2007 8:28 AM

Cutenews isn't too bad...as long as you have a license. I'm still trying to figure out how to get more than one RSS feed with Cutenews. Seems impossible.

Edit: Rahul, you better figure out "The System" or you're gonna be in a lot of trouble...

pokejungle August 2nd, 2007 8:58 PM

I'll work on the search box. Did my advertising Fusion work at all for hits? I can't really see your stats of course ;<

But good luck on the XHTML.

Revolution August 2nd, 2007 11:42 PM

It looks fine in Opera for me. Yeah I hate validating my site, but at least it makes the site load faster.

BluePhoenix August 3rd, 2007 9:44 AM

Well, I donno...I just don't like Fusion News...Anyways I should be able to fix up everything by tomorrow...Thanks to Kokkei...

As for the hits, yes...I think it's working! Thanks alot! =P

And as for the valiadtion...I fail...everytime I fix it...Something else just rises up -____-"
I am still doing it though!

pokejungle August 3rd, 2007 9:56 AM

I can help you too if you need it. I'm online.

BluePhoenix August 5th, 2007 4:30 AM

Great, that would be nice!

Wow, no one posted here for 2 days? O_o"

Lord Kokkei August 5th, 2007 1:32 PM

...WD's dead again...
Oh well, at least I'm getting SOME help from someone...
zagubongu?
Subukugo?
Whatever...
Ps. Rahul u gotta teach me the thing again.

BluePhoenix August 5th, 2007 5:50 PM

Which "thing" are you talking about? Interview? Or what? I don't remember! Sorry.

Lord Kokkei August 5th, 2007 8:31 PM

like how to say goodbye in your language...
sigh...just when I thought no more freewebs sites are gonna come out, one pops out...

BluePhoenix August 5th, 2007 9:44 PM

Oh, hehe. Khoda hofez! XD

Khoda = God
Hofez = Bye...

Or: Ajke Asi

Ajke = Today
Asi = Bye

It's like, a weird translation...But yeah...in Bangla it makes sense!

Well, FreeWebs is what you get when you are new and haven't been around the net for a while...I mean come on, a lot of us had at least one FreeWebs site, right?

Revolution August 5th, 2007 11:25 PM

Yeah thats some weird language. I'm thinking about making my site into Div's, I've been looking at a few sites and I've been noticing thats what a lot of sites are doing so I'm gonna do it to.

BluePhoenix August 6th, 2007 7:57 AM

That's a good idea! DIVs and CSS can do almost anything! =3

Lord Kokkei August 6th, 2007 10:31 AM

...I never had a freewebs site...
I'll stick with table for as long as I can, because they do exactly what I want them to do and don't have to tweak the code to make them competable in every browzer.

Hey I saw it collapse at the edge of my eye, on that day we just got off the bridge on the other side of it. I'm just glad I wasnt on I35W at that time. but i feel bad for all the people that got hurt and Died.
Yes i Live in Minnesota

I got a 120 GB Dedicated Server for $80 from JustEdge Networks. They had a 30 dollar discount, from the original price, so it's not really too bad, in my opinion. We got a backup account for $10, with a perfect amount of space and the users consume only 10 GB total out of 120 GB. And holding a few hundred accounts. Not anything to be happy about, it's OK though.

And about the bridge, I was shocked to believe that the bridge went down. But I forgot you both even lived in Minnesota.

No, because I don't know where you live, all I know, is I missed "To Catch a Predator" because of it, but now that I know you and Paul live around that area, I feel bad about being mad :(

I get 450GB <3

It's good for media too. I'm able to do all my fansubbing work on it. ^_^
