Google indexes all my pages even with the ?id= pages. So, I really have no problem with them.

My site now shows up for specific pokemon things, so that's good. General terms still get general game sites or the official sites, but I have no problem getting search engine hits.

Faltzer August 17th, 2006 3:44 PM

You didn't say that when you saw my post at MMC. <_<

pokejungle August 17th, 2006 3:46 PM

Because that was before I looked into the matter actually.

=<

Faltzer August 17th, 2006 3:48 PM

<yeah_right>That's because Koroku told you that</yeah_right>

pokejungle August 17th, 2006 3:49 PM

I didn't really read that thread much after I said my part, so no =P

Steve Z August 17th, 2006 3:55 PM

ok, it doesnt matter about ?id=, if our pages get indexed, isnt that what really matters, i mean come on, its an extension! its not the end of the world.
in other news, I delcare FlexBB to be one of the best free forum softwares out there, its in my top 5.

pokejungle August 17th, 2006 4:00 PM

In its current form, FlexBB has a serious hacking vulnerability, which is why I'm waiting for the new edition.

Steve Z August 17th, 2006 4:13 PM

well, even vBulletin has hacking vulnerability, so doesnt IPB, MyBB, YaBB, Ikonboard, Burning Board, phpBB, everything has hacking vulnerability.
but al it needs is usergroups, subforums, and the possiblity of a horazontal postbit, and its my #1

pokejungle August 17th, 2006 4:18 PM

...they do, but not as big as FlexBB's at the moment. MyBB is updated with security fixes as they come, very quickly. IPB and vB are paid softwares and are _very_ tight.

And no one wants to use Ikon, Burning, or phpBB 2.

I'm guessing that flexbb will come in late october or early november but for now, who knows

Steve Z August 17th, 2006 4:57 PM

I wanted to use Ikon, burning sucks, and phpBB sucks too.
then theres EKINboard, that makes me mad, IPB is sueing them because it is a blatent knock off, it seriously looks like a childrens IPB

Blaze August 17th, 2006 7:44 PM

I don't see why they are sueing, IPB is a copy of numerous other forum softwares. Unlike IPB, vBulletin continues to just focus on new features NOT new ways to make money off of copies.

Lets thank God, vBulletin has morals otherwise MyBB would be dead~

pokejungle August 17th, 2006 7:48 PM

MyBB isn't based off vB code. I think one of the very first releases was, or so goes the rumour, but no longer.

aRedMoon August 17th, 2006 8:16 PM

vB checked out MyBB and said it was fine, as I recall.

pokejungle August 17th, 2006 8:25 PM

I do respect vB more than IPB though. Just for the record.

Thomas August 17th, 2006 9:07 PM

I like pretty much all of them except for ones that are just horrible. Ex: Proboards. I would say that MyBB is my favorite. It is easy to set up and easy to skin, althought it has some security vulnerabilities, it is still a great software. I mean my last forum got hacked twice when I was using it, but you just have to keep up with the security updates.

pokejungle August 17th, 2006 9:11 PM

I hate hackers and script kiddies ._.;

Steve Z August 17th, 2006 9:35 PM

um proboards is a forum host, they use a copy of YaBB Gold.
and, vB is good, IPB is more appealing, MyBB reminds me of IPB 1.3 FINAL mixed with vB, thats just me, dont jump down my throat.
I just like simplicity, and I think FlexBB has simplicity and good looks

pokejungle August 17th, 2006 9:38 PM

YaBB is actually really decent. So is E-Blah as far as Perl goes.

Steve Z August 17th, 2006 9:57 PM

never heard of E-Blah
i will check it out

Thomas August 17th, 2006 10:12 PM

I remember one I saw a while back that I really liked called IceBB, also FlexBB I really like to, it has a lot of potential.

Eon-Rider August 17th, 2006 10:53 PM

I loved IceBB but I never knew what XSLT was so I never actually tried it.

Dragonfree August 18th, 2006 4:57 AM

My favorite is vBulletin, then IPB, then MyBB, then probably some of the ones I haven't had experience of like FlexBB and IceBB, then YaBB Gold, then SMF and then phpBB.

Don't ask me why. SMF and phpBB just tick me off somehow. <_<; Well, I don't like SMF's URLs or its user CP and user profiles. (Is it just me, or is it a lot like YaBB Gold? That's more or less the reason I don't like that either.) And phpBB... don't get me started on just how much I loathe the look of SubSilver, and how much some of its default features tick me off (such as placing a huge LINK to the thread itself at the top for the thread title - who the hell thought of that? Thanks to its size, it's way too easy to click on by accident and waste a page load. Also stuff like not indicating which thread you're replying to anywhere on the reply page, etc.) Also, the amount of things you need a mod for in it is ridiculous. I like hacking, but I really prefer having my basic stuff already in, thank you very much.

Eon-Rider August 18th, 2006 6:01 AM

SMF and YaBB Gold are similar because they are made by the same company. :P

Morkula August 18th, 2006 6:44 AM

Yeah, like Kenny just said, SMF and YaBB are made by the same company. SMF is actually the successor to YaBB SE, so that's why they look so similar. The main difference is that YaBB Gold is Perl while SMF and YaBB SE is/was PHP.
