Why would you be building websites if you don't have internet access anyway then?

Morkula August 21st, 2006 3:20 AM

Some people can't stay online 24/7 because they have dialup and it ties the phone line up. Plus, it's a lot more convenient to have everything in one place in a book rather than have to go searching through all these websites to try and find what you need to know.

I rather have a online book, because searching through a text book is nothing but a hassle. I can just use control + f, enter the keyword I am looking for... and BAM got it.

Thomas August 21st, 2006 10:44 AM

Guess it just depends on the person...anyways...

Faltzer August 21st, 2006 2:03 PM

You beat me to that Blaze. :/

CSS isn't really that hard, the color value's were the only hard things to memorize. I used to go on W3C and look at the CSS list for hours trying to find the right color. Now I can just use the regular color name. But sadly, I can't, because not all CSS color value's have their names.

Eon-Rider August 22nd, 2006 3:28 AM

It's still better to use hexadecimals for websites. The CSS validator gives an error if a word is used. :\

Faltzer August 22nd, 2006 10:26 AM

No it doesn't, I was validating my CSS and it had words in the document. The validator found no errors.

Blaze August 22nd, 2006 2:36 PM

I hate validating >_>

I just think its a stupid trend ;<

Dragonfree August 22nd, 2006 4:33 PM

It depends on which words you use.

Anyway, I like my hex codes. They're really not that hard to use if you have common sense and know how red, green and blue mix. :/

About forum software again, I've tried both the IPB admin CP (albeit a slightly older one than the current) and the vBulletin admin CP, and I have to say I don't find vBulletin's that much harder to use. Some things are a nightmare to do in it, but they're mainly because they're more complicated than in IPB thanks to more flexibility and features. The thing is, you can do just about anything by hacking any forum software, so whether or not you can hack it to do this and that is not relevant. You always can. What is relevant is how much you have to hack it to get certain features, and thus, vBulletin does have the feature advantage.

What irks me about IPB is the fact they used to have ideals and then forgot all about them. When it was still free, they had a bold statement somewhere about how they believed that PHP/MySQL bulletin board software should be free because PHP and MySQL are free. Then all of a sudden you're supposed to start paying for it, no excuses, and aren't authorized to use the free version because they suddenly turned into money-hungry bastards. :/ vBulletin has kept even the actual price of their licenses completely static since they started. Sure, it's not cheap, but I'd rather pay and rest in the knowledge that I won't be made to pay more at any point in time than get it for free and discover one day that they've started charging for it.

Eon-Rider August 23rd, 2006 4:44 AM

Subject change again. >_<

Anyone tried Invision Power File Manager? I'm currently obsessed with it. It is so awesome. :D

Morkula August 23rd, 2006 5:02 AM

I've seen it but I haven't gotten the chance to try it out yet. I think IPB recently released some kind of new file manager to paying customers, for an extra fee. But the one you have was free, but discontinued a while back. =/

Eon-Rider August 23rd, 2006 5:08 AM

I know it's stopped being developed. :P

I tried it last night and it works quite well.

Faltzer August 23rd, 2006 10:51 AM

I'll try this in a sec, sounds interesting. But I have no idea what it's supposed to do. :(

Spencer August 23rd, 2006 3:37 PM

Hi, I am a new webmaster. I was just wondering, what do you think of my first site? Sceptile's Forest. I made everything there myself. And I am only 12. :)

EDIT: Oh, I am trying to work on the menus extending to the bottom of the page. It's annoying. >_< If you know how to fix it, please tell me.

Thomas August 23rd, 2006 5:47 PM

Everything seems really spread out, you may want to try to tighten everything together.

Eon-Rider August 28th, 2006 1:02 AM

You seemed to have closed it... >_<

Anyway, PC is finally back! W00t!

aRedMoon August 28th, 2006 1:06 AM

/me watches PC die again

It was bound to happen!

Blaze August 28th, 2006 2:05 AM

This server is as reliable as "New Pokemon" scans.

aRedMoon August 28th, 2006 2:24 AM

Nope, I think the scans are a lot more reliable.

Blaze August 28th, 2006 2:47 AM

I don't o_o

And I am talking about scans in general, such as game battle scans or fake Pokemon drawings.

There have been reports of about 30+ fakes in this Generation alone.

Thomas August 28th, 2006 4:14 AM

I actually like having all the fakes, makes things more interesting. Plus it gives Pokemon sites more to post about. :P

BlueEew August 28th, 2006 6:07 AM

Yes I agree, fake's are intresting. But if anyone was to add a fake section I would advise to say they are fake's because some people will think it's real and will end up complaining.

aRedMoon August 28th, 2006 6:51 PM

Fakes are really a curse to any fandom... but they do keep them interesting.

Blaze September 1st, 2006 8:46 PM

I rather have new pokemon =[

Steve Z September 24th, 2006 8:53 PM

I love fakes, keeps it interesting, you know, more fun until the real ones show themselves
