There is no find function, at least not that I've been able to uncover.

Faltzer December 19th, 2007 6:22 AM

I prefer using my own knowledge, and not letting a template system doing it all for me. <_<;

I use Opera... yeah~ And Opera's find sucks anyways >_>

At any rate, vB does have a built-in template search, right there on the edit page. XD I'm amazed you missed it. O.o;;;

I think you need glasses, Greg. XD

So it does o.O Still don't plan on using it, as I hate the interface.

/me also thinks the textarea is too small for decent work.

pokejungle December 19th, 2007 2:11 PM

I agree, they should have an expand option...

FF3b2 out <3 I want my rounded right side on the location bar back though. Aww.

Downloading it right now. 8D
How do you like it so far?

pokejungle December 19th, 2007 3:09 PM

Uhhh... it's rather boring IMO.

I still love Flock to death, but I just wish it were a little more polished. There are some tab GUI issues sometimes. FF3b2 looks nice, but you're not going to see a whole lot of differences. Unless I'm already used to stuff from using beta 1 so long 8D

Star bookmark = can't live without

Srsly, I've never used bookmarks before, and at least it only takes me a second now.

peirateis December 19th, 2007 3:27 PM

I agree with the boring part... I was much more impressed when the FF2 beta came out.

I honestly don't appreciate the 'History guess' feature of the address bar. My computer's wicked slow, thus it is not a good thing. xD

And I want my Google toolbar back. >>

You do realize there are little links that say "Increase Size" and "Decrease Size" next to the textarea too, right? o_O

How on earth do you consider using vBulletin's built-in template editor "doing it all for you"? It's just like using Wordpad or Notepad or any other text editor. Regardless, you're still the one making whatever changes. @[email protected]

What I mean about that, is I prefer having them in the file system than in the database. I don't like having to edit online. I like using the power of my editor, not a BBS built-in template/CSS editor, even if it is just a text box. Sorry, but that's just my opinion.

I only use a BBS if it meets the 'Faltzer Requirements'. XD; I'm seeing so many vBulletin driven boards, it's not even funny. How is an 11 year old going to have a vB forum without the approval of his parents, let alone most parents not knowing anything about todays web.

I think Koroku may be referring to the default textbox size, though I prefer having it shown small first. Also, congratulations on your 1,100th post Dragonfree. ^^;

could anyone suggest a good wiki script that is NOTMedia WIki Im sick of mediawiki so much. I have been looking at deki wiki it looks nice. Does anyone know any good scripts.

Lubricus December 19th, 2007 5:18 PM

Its not so much that I don't like it as I want something that isn't so big. Its going to be a wiki that I only want certain people to be able to add and edit.

I understand where you're coming from, certainly. I have Apache / PHP / mySQL installed locally, whenever I'm developing styles I create them on my test install first and when they're finished upload them to the live forum. That's just how I've always done it (negating the "work offline" argument, for me anyway).
I do this at times, though traveling from box to box to edit a CSS element hasn't always been my thing. I actually have to resort to editing myBB style sheets from the file system, and not from the DB. I don't even use the DB storage method in order to store CSS on myBB. I agree that vB is top class software, in the way of it being one of the top forums with mods. I wish IPB had less expensive prices, though. Most IP.Board native users dislike vB because of the feel of the skins, and how it just doesn't feel IP.Board like. I still can't wait for myBB 1.4 though. I think it'll topple all free BBS' after a month of its release. I can already imagine the 2.0-ness of the system. I know, I'm obsessed with Web 2.0 as well.

TikiWiki and phpWiki aren't the best for Wiki's either, so you know. MediaWiki is the only good one out there.

Me and my other 2 webmasters decided we could either edit mediawiki or code our own wiki. We will probably make our own.

Faltzer December 19th, 2007 6:29 PM

Coding your own wiki isn't as easy as it sounds, sadly. You may think all you have to do is just have a MySQL database that just stores articles and have public editing. But you need to actually have the feel of a Wiki, and not the feel of a script that can just post articles.

Trust me. My one webmaster who is my cousin is a genius php programmer he helped with mediawiki when it was first being designed. He will do that and me and the other webmaster will most likely do all the MySQL.

pokejungle December 19th, 2007 7:13 PM

DokuWiki is AMAZING <33

No need for MediaWiki if you'll have less than 100,000 articles <33

EDIT: I'll link ya, 'cause I'm awesome. www.splitbrain.org/dokuwiki There are a lot of themes available even if you don't love the simple default.

Lubricus December 19th, 2007 7:18 PM

I was looking at the dokuwiki. It looks good I might use it. On other news does anyone know how to have two vb boards with one database with the same user tables. I can't figure it out it out and it is starting to bother me.

pokejungle December 19th, 2007 7:41 PM

And you're the one who wants to code his own wiki...?

EDIT: You have until tomorrow to get that layout off. I thought that was gone ages ago, but apparently some people are lazy.

Edit the code of one to refer to the user tables of the other, I suppose. You will still need a licence for each board, I believe.

I am happy with MediaWiki; it has several quite manly features and, while it may sometimes have a steep learning curve, it is by far the most popular wiki software, and thus users come knowing how to use it.

I do have a license for both.
Faux: I'll get the layout off tommorow I won't have time to do it today. and I thought you said I could keep it up. but I'll get it off tommorow.

PHP isn't that hard to get the grasp of, because I see most PHP programmers just go on and on about how awesome they are for being able to make a little download counter. Use a real programming language like Ruby, Python or Perl and you'll see what a real non-obfuscated language is.

My cousin can do Ruby, Python, perl, c, c++, and c#. Im pretty sure we will be okay.

aRedMoon December 20th, 2007 4:06 PM

Wow. Twice now PC people have made me feel blind.

*comes up with another reason...*

I can't use tab!! Haha, you guys can't show some little vB feature that allows me to use tab now, can you? >____>

Anyone using vB3.7 beta2 yet?

pokejungle December 20th, 2007 4:15 PM
