Hello, Pok[e with that accent thing]Community!
Hello, I usually don't introduce myself through the newbie section of a forum, but since I'm so eager to dive in and discuss topics ranging from breeding for natures in FireRed, to any glitch or cheat to obtain a Mew on Pokemon FireRed legitimately (I'm considering searching Amazon just to obtain an Action Replay just to get a Mew), to Pokemon us fans would look forward to seeing in Generation V.
Because I'm sure there's going to be questions brought up about this username (which I highly doubt I'll even remember by tomorrow), let me explain how I came up with it. My real name is Kimmie. After I was forced into Spanish, we had to select Hispanic names. As there really aren't any names (or even words for that matter) that begin with "K" in Spanish, I began with the name Marisol. Then when I progressed to Spanish II, I changed it to Maribel. Before I transferred schools, I composed this entire course of Spanish names- Mariana in Spanish III and Mariachi (some Latina must be named this) in Spanish IV. Unfortunately, my new school didn't use Spanish names. So, when I rekindled my obsession for Pokemon when my more beloved fandom, "Futurama", entered a hiatus while waiting for the series to reappear, I began to play all my Pokemon games again. As I started new files in the games, I kept the "Mari-" theme with each protagonist. For examples: Pokemon Red: (Don't Play since Yellow is just Better) Pokemon Yellow: Marlyn (it can be both Masculine and Feminine) Pokemon Gold: Marigold (well, if I did, don't play it because I have Crystal and it doesn't have Donphan) Pokemon Crystal: Marina (derived from the anime; I can't play Crystal anymore as the internal battery has ran dry, thus why I'm holding on for the release of HeartGold) Pokemon Sapphire: Kimmy (Sapphire/Hoenn's my favorite game/region, and including my name on the suggested protagonist name list just added another strawberry on top) Pokemon FireRed: Marilyn (based on Pokemon Yellow) Pokemon Pearl: Maris PokemonHeartGold: Marisol So basically, my name is a conglomeration of "Mari-" and all the ends that I use currently in games (and will use in Heartgold). My sister would usually buy the dual game- the only original series games we don't have are Emerald, LeafGreen (I'd like to get her this for her Birthday), Platinum (I may buy this if the price drastically lowers and if I buy it cheap on eBay on a whim), and HeartGold and SoulSilver (mainly because they aren't out yet) I just recently bought a used FireRed at Gamestop after I learned from my nights surfing Bulbapedia that it was more than "a cheap remake of the beloved classics". By the way, I'm not dependent on cheat codes. I'd really only would use a GameShark now just to obtain a GS Ball in Crystal, I'd take abuse of the Mew glitch to get Mew in Yellow, and may just be willing to pay some money to catch myself a legit Mew for FireRed. So, hopefully, after reading the lengthy and pointless post, you can see I intend to bring up details in parenthesis alot. I don't know if I'll stick around for a long time. I was (and still am) into Harvest Moon, but I left the forums I joined as they lost popularity. I see that there are +100 active members of this forum of this time of the day, so it looks like this will be as active as an airport (I was about to use the metaphor of "fraternity bed", but I don't want to bring on an inappropriate but true impression of me). EDIT: This is just for breaking the ice, but do any of you feel that with each region, your main Pokemon party for that region must be composed of Pokemon native to that region/introduced in the generation the region was first featured in? Then do you have an overall Pokemon team spanning all generations? |
Holy crap, that's a long introduction post. AND you type properly. You'll fit right in.
I'm not going to feed you the generic welcome crap. But welcome to the forums. : D |
Thank you! I feel welcomed already! Especially after you made the comment about how I don't type like how whiny "preteenage" girls text. I'm just overwhelmed with excitement and jitters as I've been looking into joining a Pokemon forum.

My team normally consists only of Pokemon from that region, since typically when a new gen comes out I race to use a lot of the new Pokemon. xD Then eventually, if I come across an oldie that I really like, I'll add it in..
& Yeah, I agree with Cynic. Awesome intro. :D Welcome to the forums, Marilynasol. I hope you have fun around here! |
Very impressive introduction, actually. D:
To answer your icebreaker, I do exclusively use Pokémon that are native to the region of the game. Once a new game comes out, I'm typically really psyched to see and use the new Pokémon, so I've made it a little tradition to use them, and only them. Wish my various save files held such an awesome name legacy. XD I just go ahead and give the protagonist my name, as it just... fits. Perhaps if I wasn't so lazy I could attempt something like that too, eh? BD Well, enjoy the activity of the ol' community, Marilynasol. I think you'll find it often climbs a bit higher than only 100 active members during peak hours. Hehe. |
welcome to teh pokecommunity make sure to read the rules!!!
|
Very nice introduction. I look forward to interacting with you on PC!
And to answer your question at the end, I usually don't stick to exclusively new Pokemon with each generation - there isn't enough variety choosing from the new ones alone. I really don't have a common theme except that Persian, Flygon, and Jolteon will be part of my team whenever they're obtainable. Again, welcome to our forums, and please enjoy your stay with us! |
