That is pretty creepy... There's only one logical answer. Humans cant breed with other animals, so obviously, something happened to the sheep while it was in it's mother. Still, its pretty creepy *Shivers*

You're just jealous. I think it's quite lovely, I'd show it affection.

Barker January 14th, 2010 6:05 PM

It scared the hell out of me when I first saw it on /sp/, of all places.

I wish they'd gotten to study it a bit before it was destroyed.

ÇyänïdëÉX January 14th, 2010 6:38 PM

Its kinda funny how women find it not that nasty hahahha!

^ You were saying?

About the pic... WHAT IN THE NAME OF BARNACLES IS THAT? IS THAT A...

The most plausible thing is the face is somewhat flattened and deformed as it goes out from the vaginal canal. Like humans, the harelip in humans, only it's in animals. Maybe the muscles in the cervix and uterus of the sheep is too strong, causing that to happen...

Hey! I'm a former nursing student, and I do had some experiences like that one. Deformed anatomy.

On the contrary, the article states that the lamb was delivered through a Caesarean Section. Therefore, I don't think the sheep's physiology had anything to do with the weird lamb.

Most likely, is that it's a deformed foetus. But you know, that's just my theory.

Humans can't breed with other sheep let alone other species.

Bear January 15th, 2010 12:58 PM

I'm not that surprised. Fetuses of different mammal species often look alike. An elephant fetus looks a lot like a dolphin, a dolphin fetus looks a lot like a puppy etc.

Guess its natural for them to have similar-looking features at such an early stage?

Sheep are already of a different species to us. They're sheep, you see.

Uecil January 15th, 2010 1:17 PM

I know there a different species. I was just saying that we can't breed with sheeps nor any other species.

It's funny how the body was burned after the photo, thus there is no proof.

Hm..

Oh well. Disgusting photo regardless.

Legobricks January 15th, 2010 5:03 PM

Looks quite normal to me, if a bit grotesque.
When something dies inside its mother it bloats, hence this apparent disfiguration and how it can no longer be delivered normally. The head is otherwise the right general shape and orientation in relation to the body, and given the stuff all over the lamb it's just how the colours patterned across its nose.

Zeta Sukuna January 15th, 2010 5:23 PM

It looks weird, in general, to me. It may be different, but I don't know, I never saw a newborn lamb before. It reminds me of those nightmarish abominations that I think up for stories, so I guess it doesn't look like anything new?

That weird mouth is kind of unusual, but it isn't 'creepy', just weird.

It was? *checks* Oh it was... then I don't have any explaination of that weirdos.

o_o()...

Kidding of course. I know English too.

As far as I can figure, it's just like Astinus said. A creepy coincidence.

I swear, the first person that says this is how people evolved would be one step up from a sheep... >< Forget your apes! Us livestock are headin' on up ourselves!

Idiot! January 16th, 2010 5:27 AM

I bet even baby elephants can look like humans too.

Guillermo January 16th, 2010 9:26 PM

I don't care if it's a human lamb. It looks fugly. :(

Which is a form of apophenia. <3

I'm inclined to agree with all of those who have posited that it's a mutation that's happened in utero. And to all those who genuinely thought it was a human-sheep hybrid, gb2 science class.

Giraffles <3 January 17th, 2010 2:39 PM

What no "PETA taking it to far" jokes?

Nah, but being serious it's just a tad creepy.

emoBill™ January 17th, 2010 7:47 PM

I've seen Cy, the cyclops cat, and thought he was cute, but my god that sheep is freaking terrifying. Not like I'd kill it on the spot but I'm just saying it creeps me out...a lot.

I think the female sheep had bestial [?] sex with a human guy, then when the guy found out he had gotten the sheep pregnant he left, afraid that he was going to have to pay child support. Then the husband sheep found out that the female sheep was pregnant and knew it wasn't by him because he had a vasectomy and left the female sheep, thereby making her have to have the poor little deformed lamb alone :]

Or it's just a freaky mutated thing.

.Bullet January 17th, 2010 8:15 PM

It's a deformed goat fetus, and combined with the fact that humans recognize faces within inanimate objects, it appears to us as humans to have a face like ours.

I have to say I'm intrigued to know exactly what caused the mutation, though.
